Chapter 33
"Welcome home." He whispered.
I was looking at the huge mansion standing right infront of me.
"Oh my God. This looks like a castle." I said shocked and he laughed shaking his head.
"Some things never change." He said looking at my face wondering and then he leaned to me and kissed me.
"Well now I understand your remark about your house in LA to have only eight rooms. Seriously. How many people are living here?" I asked him gazing at the estate again. It looked like some royalty was living here.
"We always have open doors for anyone who wants to visit us." He replied and looked at Sofia who was peacefully sleeping in the back of the car.
"I am going to take her to her room. She is out. Not a chance to wake her up." He said and walked out of the car coming to my door opening it for me.
"Thank you." I said steping out of the car.
"I will send Thierry for the luggage." He said to me opening the back door to take Sofia. I didn't know who Thierry was I just assumed he was someone from his stuff. I was looking at the huge house with wonder. It was going to be dark outside soon and the lights inside were already on. Huge white marble staircase was leading to the massive white entrance door. I looked around myself. On my right side there was a smaller building with at least six garage doors and behind me the driveway surrounded by the small tree park. On the left side there was a grass with a beautiful garden with red roses dominating on the grass. I looked again infront of me on the house when a picture flashed through my mind.
It was the same house but it was in morning sunlight and the marble staircase was flooded with leafs of red roses. The picture disappeared as quickly as it came looking at the house with few lights on and empty stairs. What was that?
I looked confused at Nicholas who was taking Sofia out of the back seat of the car when another picture crossed through my mind.
"Oh please. Can I finally see it?" I asked laughing although my eyes were covered by someones hands. I felt as we were walking on the ground. The hand finally released my eyes and I was blinded by the light for a few seconds until I finally saw a huge mansion infront of me with big white marble stairs covered by leafs from red roses.
The picture disappeared again. I was standing there looking at Nicholas as he turned to me with Sofia in his arms deeply asleep. He looked at me smiling but when he saw my confused face his expression changed.
"Are you alright?" he asked me looking at me worriedly. I just nodded even though I was confused as hell.
I didn't know what was happening. There was still the picture of this house coming to my mind and the picture of me already being here before in other circumstances.
"Are you sure?" he asked me again.
"Yeh." I whispered nodding.
"Ok." He said frowning not very persuaded by my answer. "Let's go inside." He said and started walking to the stairs. While I was following him walking by the stairs the picture in my head was changing from the reality to the picture when I was walking up step by step on the stairs with the roses. My hand shaking when I was supporting myself with the marble railing. My heart racing to jump out of my chest when we finally came to the massive white door which immediately opened the moment we stepped infront of it. Older lady in a grey jacket and skirt appeared at the door.
"Monsieur LeMair! Bienvenue." She greeted him with a huge genuine smile on her face.
"Merci Cecile." He replied walking inside and I unknowingly followed him.
"Angie this is Cecile. Our housekeeper. She works for me for almost five years so she is almost like a family." I heard Nicholas saying when I looked at the lady. She was welcoming me with a nice smile.
"Welcome Miss Cooper." She said to me.
"Thank you." I replied to her my mind still wondering on the flashback I just had trying to figure out what the hell is it.
"I am going to put Sofia into her bed. I will be right back." Nicholas said. "Please Cecile take care of Miss Cooper." He said to her looking at me with worry and then he walked away. I was watching as he was walking on the left side of the double stairs which were dominating this big entrance hall.
"Can I offer you something?" Cecile asked me politely when I was looking around. The inside of the villa was even more explicit then the outside. White shiny marble floor and stairs with crystal ceiling in the middle of the hall. It looked like inside of castle. I felt my hands still shaking and my mouth were dry.
"Water please." I replied to her finally and she smiled politely at me.
"Sure." She said. "Please follow me." She said and I was walking behind her to the living room.
"Please make yourself comfortable. I'll go fetch some refreshment for you." She said and left me standing inside of the marvelous living room. There was a creamy white sofa with chairs in the middle. On the right wall was a fireplace with big mirror above it. I walked out of the living room through the opened window door to the terrace. It had incredible view on the longest backyard I have ever seen. I walked to the railing and picture appeared in my head again.
"Well? Do you like it?" I heard from behind me when I opened my eyes looking at the huge mansion right infront of me. I turned around to be looking into Nicholas's radiant face. His face full of love and excitement.
"Oh my god. It looks like a castle." I answered looking back at the house and he laughed. He took my hand and kissed it.
"Let's go inside. I will show you more." He said.
"What? We can't go inside. Somebody has to be living here." I said to him as he was already leading me up the stairs stepping on the roses on our way.
"Nobody is living here and we certainly have a permission to step inside." He said and opened the door for us walking in.
"You need to see this view." he said leading me trough the hall with huge double stairs to an empty living room to the terrace. We stepped outside and there was a beautiful view on the ever green backyard with trees surrounding it. The birds were singing their morning songs as the spring breeze was tossing my hair. The air was refreshing from the busy streets of Paris to this peacefull morning bliss. I took a deep breath, closed my eyes and savored the moment as the sun was shining on my face.
"It's amazing." I said as Nicholas was resting his head on my shoulder his arms wrapped around me from behind.
"Just imagine having breakfast here, sitting at this beautiful sunlight every morning." He said kissing my cheek.
"Hmm. Your pancakes." I replied smiling and thinking about it as he laughed loudly.
"Lately your favorite." He added amused by my cravings.
"I can't control what I am craving for." I replied with a smile. "But okay. I certainly can imagine that." I said picturing sitting here with him having a breakfast.
"Good. Because I already bought it." He said and I quickly opened my eyes turning around to face him.
"What?!"I asked him shocked and I was starring at his excited face. "But this is too huge for us." I replied. "What are we going to be doing here? This house is like a castle." I said still in disbelief.
"Yes. Castle for my queen..." He said taking my face into his hands and lovingly pressing his lips on mine making me unstable. "And I certainly had to buy a castle for my princess." He said and kneeled down placing his hands gently on my already visible belly of five months caressing it and plenting a kiss on it too.
The picture quickly disappeared and I was standing on the same spot alone looking at the backyard. My hands were cold and shaking and the sweat was all over my face as well as tears. I closed my eyes tightly trying to just compose myself with the picture that just appeared in my head when there were many other pictures flashing in.
I was running behind a beautiful three year old girl with long brown hair. She was laughing adorably running infront of me while I was trying to catch her. Her toys were all around her small garden house where she was hiding from me in another picture. We were running together on this same backyard.
I was breathing heavily confused trying to catch my breath. I walked inside of the living room not noticing Cecile walking in too. I bumped into her splashing the glass and jar with the water on the floor and creamy carpet.
Another picture flashing through my mind.
"Come on baby. Come to mommy." I said as I was sitting on the carpet in the living room with my arms spread infront of me looking at the most adorable almost 1 year old babygirl standing at the sofa holding it to stabilize herself. She smiled at me and let go of the sofa walking slowly and precariously to my direction.
"Come on mon ange. Step by step." Nicholas was sitting next to me with a camera in his hand encouraging her. I was looking at her lovingly and with excitement as she was walking to me with a huge smile with her all eight teeth on display. As she was coming to me closer and closer I was slowly backing to increase the distance until she finally reached me and tossed herself into my opened arms laughing.
"Great job baby." I said hugging her joyfully feeling proud of her for being so clever. I put a huge kiss on her chubby cheek and she claped to herself. Nicholas was still filming us laughing behind the camera. She looked at him excited. She just adored him as much as he adored her.
"Amazing job mon ange." He said and quickly kissed her on her cheek too.
"Oh I am sorry Miss Cooper." Cecile said as she was already collecting the dropped tray with the jar. I was again in reality. My head was about to blow up from all the pictures flashing through it.
"Are you okay?" she asked me when she looked at me. I was shaking as I was looking at the carpet.
"I just need to get out of here." I replied to her. I needed to get away. These flashbacks were too much. I wasn't sure what was real now and what was just the image in my head. I quickly walked to the entrance door. I walked out of the house looking around trying to find a peacefull place to calm my mind. I looked at the car parked infront of the stairs. Some man just took out all the luggage and placed it near the stairs. I quickly run down and walked to the car.
"Are there keys in it?" I asked the man as he was looking at me shocked nodding. I quickly opened the door and sit down starting the car with my shaky hands. I heard someone calling my name but I already stamped on the pedal and was speeding away through the driveway.
