MJ
The Stage.
I love it.
The lights shining brightly down on top of me. My heart beating so fast and loud that I'm sure everyone can hear it over the sound of the speakers. The fans screaming my name. The joy of seeing people singing along to my song and feeling a connection to it. It amazes me everytime I perform and no matter how many times I stand on stage it still has the same effect and I know that this place, on stage, is where I'm supposed to be.
But I don't stand on the stage alone. I'm in a band called BTS and we've been around for a couple years now. At first I thought this life wasn't going to be for me. After our debut we gained popularity quickly and life got crazy. We're constantly putting out new songs and doing different activities. Just the other day we were on a show where we had to dance to one of our songs that was randomly play, and I promise you I am no dancer. Still I love what I do because I love being on stage and producing music and I love my members as well.
It's been awhile since we put out our last album and today we're starting promotions for a new album by performing at a music show for our new song and the fans love it. Their screams fill my heart with joy and love. They are a big reason for why I love the stage and I know that because of them this stage is ours for this small moment of time and I cherish every beautiful second because every performance must come to an end. As the song ends and the last line is sung all of us make our way off stage and into the wings.
"You guys did great!" A director says to us.
All of us bow politely and he walks by.
"It's so weird not being ignored any more. I remember when we were rookies and no one would acknowledge our existence." Seokjin, well Jin now that we had stage names, said as he stood beside me. "What do you think Suga? Do you still wish you had stayed home all those years ago."
I rolled my eyes at him like I've always done. "First off, you know I prefer you calling me Yoongi, and second, why do you always ask the same question after every performance?"
"Just so you don't forget." Jin smiled at me and ruffled my hair like I was three.
I was about to reply when the announcer spoke and the speakers drowned out any words I would have said.
"What a great performance! Let's keep this energy going and welcome MJ to the stage!" The crowd screamed and a girl walked out on stage.
The stage lights come up and a girl is standing in front of a mic with a guitar across her back. I stare at the stage captivated by her.
"Yoongi, let's go. Everyone's waiting backstage." Jin said drawing my attention away from the girl.
"You go ahead. I'll meet you there in a minute." Jin looked at me with a worried expression for a second before making his way backstage.
I looked back at the stage and focused on the girl again. She was standing tall in front of the mic and her long light brown hair was falling in perfect waves down her back. Her dress was white with lace sleeves and fell just above her knees giving off a sense of innocence. She was small and delicate just like every other girl in this business but something about her seemed a little different. Maybe it's the fact that she actually knows how to play an instrument since she's holding a guitar. No matter what it was I was intrigued and waited beside the stage in the wings to watch the performance.
The girl moved her guitar in front of her and started playing. A beautiful sound came out of the speakers and the whole crowd was instantly captivated. It was a beautiful, simple song that obviously held a deep meaning from the way she played the guitar. It was almost familiar to me. I smiled thinking of a past memory from a very different from now.
I was lost in the memory and then the girl started to sing drawing me out of my past and into this moment. Her voice was soft and sweet. It seemed to flow easily and softly. It wasn't a voice that was amazing and captivating but a voice that called you in and made you listen. A voice that told a story. It was a voice that held deep emotion most people couldn't express through singing. I was captivated and amazed. She was someone that artists hoped to be like one day.
The song ended and I quickly gathered mind so I could try to talk to the girl when she came off stage. I was waiting patiently when the lights went out and the girl put her guitar behind her again and walked towards my direction to make her way to the wings. When she looked in my direction I saw her face my heart dropped down into my stomach. She stopped walking and stared at me like she had seen a ghost, and she might as well have. The girl walking towards me was not any girl, and she was not any singer. This girl was none other than Song Minji. The girl who had broke my heart so many years ago.
