16.
The WestEnd.
The air was scalding, bone melting yet no one moved, the heat, a result of dragon fire and demonic hell fire coming from the skies above and the ground below, everyone had scattered away, find shelter or you would be caught in the onslaught, —those who knew and were lucky enough had found themselves under the protection of the mistresses power, it glowed green like a beacon in the dead of night, calling to all who wanted safety, it would never break, shatter or fail, it was protection.
The Mercia children except Sal and Kolby stood high on a platform created by their sister Imani, there they watched as the demon and his horde advanced on the Stag but was swiftly cut off when the dragon stood in his way with his own hoarde of fighters. "I do not appreciate you backing out on our deal, Zev Korval." Kybern hissed, taking a step forward he met the dragon in the middle. "I don't take too kindly to those who touch my jewels, and the agreement was you would take the North, claim it as your own and grow." Korval responded calmly yet the air sizzled.
"There was no one to stand in the way, the West was ripe for the picking, why would I not take it, you were so content with what you had, now why do you stand in my way?" The demon demanded, his demeanor changing aswell. "I don't need to explain myself to you Kybern, my reasons are my own, but here we stand, you will return to the north, where you belong, this is my territory and I will claim it from the mistress." Korval rumbled, the very air rumbling with him.
Yet Kybern laughed, it was an amused outbreak, he shook and reveled in it, so did his men until he abruptly stopped. "You're a pathetic old being clinging to the glory of the old world, move aside and let others live in the new world without your dwindling breed in the way." Kybern spat, the air around both mystics shifting, it groaned and shook with power, there was no warning sign, no bell, nothing with Korval in a split second lunging for the demon with a small blade.
Kybern was quick to react and block the dragon who wanted to slice through his neck, instead the blade stabbed through his palm, making him hiss in pain because it burned like lava, he pulled it out in time to headbutt the dragon but Korval was unmoved and with a swift swerve of his feet he was releasing flames from his mouth a few yards away from Kybern.
A black shield held up protecting Kybern from the onslaught of dragon fire, but it didn't protect some of his men who were burned to cinders in the instant they failed to protect themselves. Two boulders came from a demonic circle above Korval, they would have crushed him instantly but he cut through them with ease, Kybern was above him delivering a kick to his shoulder and it connected throwing Korval into the rubble of Kybern's boulders.
Not one of them wasted time lunging for the other, with Korval punching right through the demon's lower abdomen and ripping through his body with his claws, the demon knew Korval was taking their fight seriously and unlike the mistress he could fight the dragon, so his eyes glowed red, he opened the fourth circle of demonic magic and it gave him the power to blast away Korval with a barrage of chaotic energy. Though he ignored his wound and dove straight into the raging flames where Korval stood above a burning car.
Their surroundings were burning and the buildings were catching fire aswell but neither of them cared as they traded blow for blow, a swift blow to Korval's head had him rearing back, the demon should've known it was a trap when he went in to pummel Korval into the ground with his hands clenched into a masssive hammer, golden energy encased Korval, the moment Kybern was to hit, it reacted blasting away the demon into a nearby shop, Korval released golden fire balls from his mouth causing more of an explosion to overtake the shop Kybern was in.
He wasted no time lunging for Kybern who released bolts of lightning toward Korval once he was close throwing him into the next building, the two stood up to lunge for each other again, with Kybern spearing the dragon straight into another building, which somehow combusted into a raging inferno, Korval used his elbow to hit Kybern's back, then materialized another blade, this one longer and he stabbed the demon with it, it caused the demon to fall back but not before placing four glowing orbs of magic that detonated over the dragon.
The pure rage and pain of a dragon cascaded into the night, echoing to all who were close, Kybern chuckled in victory watching the fiery tornado tear apart Korval, but it was also tearing apart the West which caused him to groan, someone out there wouldn't be happy with that but before he could act, the fires that raged around them stopped, Korval stood exhausted, blood seeping from the wounds he had sustained but still he was perplexed, everything was still, too still.
Kybern though far from Korval, had the same feeling, it was dread, a certain kind of fear that led him to arm himself, a long double edged sword appeared in his hand, and a barrier around him growing in power. "Children, you fight and destroy, bring calamity to those who are innocent." The voice was neutral yet all of them could hear it, even the Mercia children. "How dare you defile my brother's domain!" It came like booming thunder, overlapping and destructive.
"Who are you?" Korval whispered. "The inevitable, the Fated end, the inescapable conclusion." It had become neutral again, but still both mystics knew this being was not one to trifle with, after all they could feel power in the air but not its source. "Fate." Rod whispered still standing on the platform Imani had created. "Thank goodness he's the one who came, I don't know what would've happened if Death had come instead." Dan muttered standing up with the help of his angel.
"By the end of this new day, before the moon reaches its apex, one of you will die, it is after all inescapable." The voice proclaimed shaking both demon and dragon in fear, unknown to them both a large black hole appeared above them and sucked them in, Korval and his men, Kybern and his, the destruction they left in their wake was also sucked in, leaving torn infrastructure and deep holes that would be easier to repair.
The black hole had another opening, just off the shores of the island that was the first to be seen if you were coming into the WestEnd by sea, this had effectively made sure that if their battle were to resume it wouldn't ever reach the mainland. "Now fight, entertain us all." The voice laughed ever so slightly before its overbearing power vanished, Korval shot up into the sky, his large scaly wings keeping him in the air, Kybern aswell shot out of the water, his leathery bat like wings also doing well to keep him in the air.
"One of us will die indeed Kybern, and it won't be me." The dragon claimed before roaring and fire cascading out of its mouth with a ferocity unlike before, now that they were far from the West the dragon saw no need to hold back and Kybern knew it. "Forbidden Circle Lucifer's Hand." He muttered as the flames came for him, his skin turned pitch black and his eyed a molten red, his wings grew bigger and sharper, three demonic circles converged in front of him and kept the fire at bay.
Kybern smirked but soon realized the dragon wasn't in front of him anymore, it was behind him, unleashing bolts of red lightning, he wasn't prepared for the onslaught, the lightning tore his wings and body apart, Kybern fell to the sea convulsing but Korval didn't follow, instead he found himself crossing his arms with the demon Kybern, blocking him from stabbing him. "I am a dragon, I'm not easily fooled by clones!" Korval hissed, creating a spear and aiming for Kybern's eye, the demon parried away the spear separating them.
He didn't account for Korval to swoop down and burn all his men who had survived and fighting the ones who followed Korval. "No!" Kybern yelled in fury summoning several circles of demonic power, they merged and a beam of blinding blue power hit Korval head on, pushing him down into the sea before an explosion of blue took over the water, it caused tremors all the way to the second island but not any farther.
"No!" Kybern still growled knowing his men had all been caught in the dragon flame, he now stood alone and it seemed those who came with the dragon were retreating. "Cowards!" Kybern yelled throwing several fireballs in all directions but with his power depleted severely they did not reach, so he stopped, heaving as he did. He wondered where Korval was, despite how powerful his attack was the dragon wouldn't be taken down easily.
Which was true because behind Kybern, Korval appeared with a golden sword that sliced through the demon's torso causing blood to splutter out and drop into the sea. "Fuck!" Kybern cursed as another cut came for his back and wings, he could only dodge a few slashes but the rest still cut him, bleeding him out. "Fight me fairly!" The demon screamed detonating his own power around him, it came in the form of a large sphere that exploded in an array of beautiful shades of the rainbow.
Though the bomb worked to ward off Korval, it left Kybern nearly drained, Korval was scathed yet he still remained in the air. "You're a descendant of a warlord alright, most demons cannot harness such potency, I can tell I lived through times your kind ruled hell and earth, which is something many forget, I am a greater dragon, only a few could ever kill me." Korval stood in the air, a golden glow in his eyes that terrified Kybern.
"I should've known." Kybern confessed coughing out blood. "Indeed." The dragon responded before he unleashed golden flames from his mouth that burned at Kybern's very core, destroying several pieces of him, then left him clinging to life pathetically. Korval watched Kybern fall into the sea, he wouldn't follow him, the greater being who had spoken before had already decreed his death, so Korval simply flew away, back to his beloved WestEnd, now he could claim it.
The South Territory ~ Dunkan Blanc's Home.
The sun streamed in gentle waves, a warm breeze tingling his skin and making him sigh in content, if the WestEnd was beautiful in its architectural marvels and the harbour with its wide array of beautiful and luxurious condos and restaurants, along with the specialized islands then the South was a paradise for nature lovers, the lake in the far distance gleamed a beautiful blue yet softly changed into an array of different colors, he could see the water pixies and different other beings playing there.
The woodlands vast and beautiful in their greenery, the air was minty and sweet, he didn't want to leave, he was enchanted, then again a groan claimed his thoughts. "Hey there gorgeous." Seris muttered, a deep baritone to his voice that caused a pleasant hum in Kolby. "Hey, —hey easy, you're not fully healed yet." Kolby scolded the vampire who huffed whilst he helped him over to a nearby couch.
"You look breathtaking." Seris muttered with a smirk, his fingers caressing Kolby's. "Oh smooth, real smooth, you almost died you idiot and the first thing you say is I'm breathtaking, are you nuts, have you lost it?!" Kolby ranted frustratedly. "Hey I almost died, I'm allowed to say shit that I want!" Seris hissed back causing Kolby to pause, his features softening. "Yeah, and I'm so sorry for it, that blast was meant for me and you were caught in it, I'm truly sorry." He immediately apologized and Seris chuckled.
"What's funny, is my apology funny?" He quirked a brow questioningly. "No, you don't get it, I would do it all over again to have you in this moment, flustered and worrying over me, if I knew to get your attention I needed to be heroic, I should've saved you more." Seris confessed. "Idiot!" Kolby claimed smacking his large bicep. "Hey watch it, ouch, you're hurting me babe." The vampire protested. "I'll heal the extra damage too." Kolby told the vampire before hugging him.
Seris didn't resist wrapping his arms around Kolby's much smaller frame, they stayed in that moment until both of them calmed. "I'm so glad you're okay, I was worried you wouldn't wake up." Kolby muttered and the vampire didn't say anything just squeezed a little tighter. "I'll always come back to you, I promise." He whispered and Kolby nodded shedding a few tears, despite knowing he had issues to work out with his bully now turned complicated relationship, he couldn't help just immerse himself in the happiness of having Seris be okay.
Kolby focused on his magic, weaving it into healing energy that passed his hands turning green before entering Seris who gave a pleasant hum feeling his body heal. "Thank you." Seris whispered and Kolby nodded when they separated. He gestured toward the window, and Seris nodded taking the offered hand, it felt so small in his, though it was warranted that Kolby was actually smaller in frame, but he liked him better that way.
"I was staring out there, it's gorgeous." Kolby muttered and Seris gasped, he couldn't describe it, only accept that indeed Kolby was right, it was gorgeous. "I never thought a place so in tune with nature could exist like this." He blurted out and amused Kolby who nodded with a smile. "Neither did I, Dunkan is a brilliant man, its so peaceful here." Kolby complimented and Seris was instantly jealous. "And what am I?" He demanded childishly.
"The vampire who barged into my life and declared he would stay." The response was instant that it made Seris smile, then turn Kolby to face him. "Just this once, I'm going to tell you, I'm going to kiss you now." He exclaimed and before Kolby resisted, their lips met and everything melted away, it wasn't need that burned in that kiss, no, it was raw and unguarded passion, Kolby felt it in his heart, and felt himself welcome it and for Seris, it was right, he was right, Kolby, would be his, if only to have these moments all over again.
"Whoa." Kolby whispered after they separated, eyes glowing. "Beautiful." Seris complimented. "Kolby you better not —." Devon paused mid sentence as he had matched into the bedroom, he could tell he interrupted something. "Oh, I— you're awake." He immediately corrected his stutter. "Hey Devon." Seris replied with Kolby chuckling and moving away from Seris whose eyes followed him.
"Dude you're awake, man you won't believe what's been going on!" Kevin entered next already ignoring the awkward energy. "I'll come and check on you in a while, I need to help Sal, Kevin and Devon will update you on everything." Kolby told the vampire who seemed disappointed but nodded in acceptance none the less. "What did I just walk in on?" Devon immediately demanded when the door closed behind them.
"A very intense kiss, which I shall not divulge." Devon squealed. "Finally, you got the power!" He cheered jumping up and down. "Will you calm down, I'll fill you in later." Kolby chided but also did a small squeal and dance with Devon before leaving and Devon going back into the room Seris had been allocated.
They were all in the Blanc manor, which was in front of Dunkan's smaller three story home, he claimed that he preferred the smaller space since he lived alone and his lovers didn't like overly extravagant things, the manor was for times like these when he needed to host more people.
Kolby made his way to the second floor where Sal was in another bedroom, before he even knocked the door swung open. "Good you're here, can you heal him, it seems having the poison siphoned out of him through me caused a reaction to his blood ingestion, though I think its just something minor, I can't risk it." Sal worried over the large man, hovering over him as if he were about to die, it amused Kolby how much his brother hated and loved Sydney.
"Stop pacing love, you're making me dizzy, and I won't get better." Sydney suddenly claimed causing Sal to stop in his pace. "Don't say that, you're okay, you're going to be okay." Sal forcefully told Sydney who smirked, cocky bastard, yet its what drew him to Sydney, that cockiness and an overwhelming amount of love along with devotion that he had for him. "There, now let the young one do his best." Sydeny advised after, nodding to Kolby who stood there amused by them.
It came in visible white threads, intangible to anyone but to Kolby, it was magic, it was nature, the very fabric and essence of magic that he was learning to control and harness, through his fingers it intricately touched Sydney who suddenly hunched over, a large bowl suddenly materialized on the side of the bed where he heaved but Kolby did not stop. "What's wrong?" Sal demanded looking at Kolby's unconcerned face. "What's happening Kolby?" He demanded again.
"You removed the poison but your healing wasn't sufficient enough to kill and pull out the parasite, go get Cassidy, if he has the parasite so does she." Kolby replied with cool eyes that changed into an array of colour, Sydney still heaved and began to choke terrifying Sal but this was due to Kolby grabbing the parasite from within Sydney and pulling, with one strong yank, it came out in liquid form but screeched, white flames instantly destroyed it.
The vampire Sydney immediately began to recover, healing completely. "Father are you alright?" Malcolm questioned stepping into the bedroom. "I'm just fine Malcolm don't worry." Sydney assured, but Kolby whipped out his power before any of them could realize, grabbing Sal and Sydeny, throwing them into a portal. "Have a nice chat won't you!" He yelled after them. "Kolby!" Sal hissed but he wasn't the only one, Cassidy also yelled as she was chained to the bed.
"What the hell man?!" Malcolm yelled in shock but Kolby merely waved his hand and the vampire was also thrown into a portal, on the other side Dan was there. "You two need to talk, and finally give us some peace and this time Dan, give him a really good piece of your mind, slap him too." Kolby advised, as beyond the portal Dan stood shell shocked and Cassidy on the other side had her mouth wide open in shock.
"Oh good you're ready, I thought I'd need to pry you open." The boy chuckled making Cassidy's eyes open wider, the portal already closing behind Kolby. "Something is seriously wrong with you kid." Cassidy gagged out as Kolby began the process all over again, choking and gagging clots of blood took over the room. "I am my father's;" Kolby paused going deeper into the woman's core grabbing the parasite and pulling it out forcefully, it fell into the large bowl and before it even screeched white flames burned it away. "Child." Kolby finished with the vampire making a complete recovery.
"Now with that out of the way, Im going to make breakfast for an annoying vampire." Kolby announced leaving Cassidy still shocked and yet it seemed to click in her mind, he had just solved multiple problems at once as if it were nothing, he truly was Lael Mercia's child.
Dorren & The Mercia.
"I think its a brilliant idea, he has successfully thrived in the small territory he carved for himself, father always said Dorren had the capabilities of any leader and the power to back it up, he just feared using it." Danton informed his siblings except Dan who was in the kitchen talking to Malcolm, with the several slaps he and the others had heard, flinched to several times, he was sure Dan had it handled.
"So you're saying we help and allow the man dicking our sweet sister to take over the North." Imani exclaimed causing Monica to blush whilst Dorren huffed proudly at the acknowledgement. "It is a good suggestion and course of action, that is if you're willing to finally unleash your true strength." Rod spoke facing the Scottish male and everyone turned to him for his answer. "Aye, I'm ready, it is time I brought peace to my brethren in the North." Dorren accepted and Monica smiled, a proud nod toward her man.
"Then it's settled, tonight we'll attack the North, kill Kybern's remaining filth, Monica go North notify our friends there, Dorren assemble your men, we will get ready here and I must find Lael, we need him." Rod told everyone who nodded and got into action. "This isn't over Dan, I won't just give up without a fight!" Malcolm announced his voice booming around the penthouse.
"Then be ready to fight an arch angel!" Dan screamed back shocking everyone but Danton who had a smug grin on his face. "That's my boy." He happily announced and everyone either groaned or face palmed wondering what Dan was thinking unleashing Danton onto Malcolm.
"Daddy will do it for you baby!" Danton called out going to where Dan was. "We don't need this right now." Rod groaned in exhaustion. "Imani." He spoke again. "Don't worry, I'll keep an eye on him." The girl answered knowing very well what Danton could do. "Thank you."
