The next day, all the people prepared for battle arrived and we set off.

Ost was being a guide for us but I don't know why she would want the Spirit Tortoise killed if she's on its side.

We travelled most of the day before setting up camp.

The armies were all in their little groups with their own campfire.

Who knows what will happen now? The waves have stopped and killing the Spirit Tortoise will continue them.

I sighed and rested my head against Itsuki's shoulder.

He glanced down at me and smiled lovingly.

"Don't stress too much." He spoke as if he could see inside my mind, "Calm down, Love."

Itsuki wrapped his arm loosely around my shoulders, his hand resting in my hair as he gently ran his fingers through it in a soothing manner.

"You stay calm too." I smiled, "We're in this together."

I reached out to his free hand and squeezed it.

He squeezed back.

There was suddenly a loud noise, startling me out of my sleepy state.

"The Spirit Tortoise..." Ost whispered to herself.

There were tons of red bars in the sky, following us.

We charged forwards in front of the rest of the soldiers.

"I, Ost Hourai, give my orders to the heavens and the earth. Sever the laws of reality, bind them together, and make them spit out the pus within." Ost chanted, "Be my power, may the gravity of those before me be amplified."

It felt like a force was pushing me down.

Did she make gravity stronger?

I looked up to see the bats slowing down and then they started to fall from the sky, being dragged down by the strength of the gravity and pinned to the floor.

We ran past while Ost was holding down all of the bats.

"This way." Itsuki decided, grabbing my hand and pulling me in the direction of the roar.

Ost told us someone must be controlling it.

So attacking from the outside might be pointless.

Naofumi motioned for us all to climb back into the carriage as he created a shield around us, blocking the attacks.

When we got closer we charged at it and simultaneously attacked its neck.

The head came straight off.

"Is it over?" I asked while staring at the severed head.

Itsuki frowned, "That felt too easy."

"Oh, cheer up." Mori stated, "We won."

I glanced at Ost and it seemed like she was completely unaffected.

"Looks like you haven't defeated the Spirit Tortoise yet." Ost stated nonchalantly.

I thought so.

"Maybe we have to destroy its core." I suggested.

Aki nodded in agreement, "That seems to be the most logical choice."

We went inside the Spirit Tortoise.

It was like some sort of cave.

I noticed there was someone else here.

"Wait." I put my hand up to stop everyone.

"What?" Naofumi asked.

"Someone's here."

At that moment, three people stepped out.

Raphtalia used a spell to break their illusion.

Itsuki's eyes widened, "It's you three!"

It was the three heroes from another world.

The ones who attacked us during the waves.

"You caught us." The red haired man laughed sheepishly.

"Glass?" Naofumi asked as she had our back to us.

She jumped and then turned to face us.

How did they even get here?

"We're not here to fight you this time." L'arc told us, trying to ease our nerves.

Ost flinched and held her head, "Whoever is in control is probably also from another world like those three."

"He's trying to take control of the Guardian beasts across several worlds." Glass stated, "It goes against the very laws of the world."

So we just have to find this dude and defeat him.

I zoned out the rest of the talking, not caring about what they were saying.

Naofumi refused to work with them and we went out separate ways.

We stared up at the heart.

Do we need to destroy this?

There was a laughing noise.

They were here.

"I didn't expect you to come all the way here. I mean, the idea occurred to me, but I'm still amazed." The man with white hair and glasses stepped towards us, "I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Kyo Ethnina, and I am the wielder of the book vassal weapon."

Ost tried to attack him but it went straight through him.

The man continued to ramble.

"We need to find his real body." I told the others.

"Hey, why are you ignoring me?!" Kyo yelled angrily, glaring at me before continuing his rant and leaving.

"The heart's self defence system activated." Ost stated as attacks were fired at us.

We worked on destroying the heart but Ost seemed to have no reaction.

The heart exploded.

I looked at Ost.

She was still fine.

Is this not the end?

We need to find where that guy went.

"I remember now." Ost frowned, "This way."

She sliced up the floor.

We need to go before it healed.

Jumping through the hole, we found ourself somewhere else.

There was this crystal and Kyo was there.

This time I'm sure it's his real body.

In the end, we defeated the Spirit Tortoise.

Ryo screamed angrily at us before disappearing, probably going back to his world.

We had saved Ren and the blonde, who were being held captive.

However, when we were teleported out of the Spirit Tortoise, Naofumi and his party were gone.

The Queen ran up to us, "You did it. Well done. Where is the shield hero?"

"I'm sorry." I apologised, "I don't know here he is. He disappeared."

And a few days later, the sky turned dark as if a wave was about to happen but it never did.

The same day, Naofumi returned.

I guess everything is alright for now.

I glanced at the wave countdown.

Every wave gets tougher and tougher.

Can we really do this?
