Captain Acornia
It was a beautiful, but chilly and windy evening. Our Air Force ducks were getting ready for bed. Lights were beginning to turn off. The ducks started to get tired. That was my mood at that time, tired.
"COME ON!!" I yelled. Sheldon still isn't back from his evening patrol. Looks like we will have to start dinner without him AGAIN. I started calling in all of my friends and allies to come inside and eat our dinner. We filled up our plates and cups with acorn sandwiches, acorn pizza, acorn juice and just plain old regular acorns!
I began to eat but very slowly. I was nervous that Sheldon was not safe, that he was hurt and nobody would be able to help him. I sat closest to the door so I would be the first to answer and hug him tight the door when Sheldon came home.
By the time we were through with our meals, he still hadn't shown up. We all began panicking, but it was like he was reading my mind, He arrived at our doorstep, torn up and tired. He began breathlessly, "I.....they tried....eat me....I ran....dogs....break....tired.....starving.....sleep!"
We waited eagerly for Sheldon to finish his sentence. Right there he collapsed from exhaustion.
We gently gave him sips of water and small portions of my leftover sandwich. After he built up enough energy, he told us his story.
"I was just around the park, finishing up my up my evening stroll, making sure none of our enemies came close to home. I was heading to our tree and I started hearing sounds and barks. Like any normal squirrel would, I started running. Then out of nowhere this bulldog pounced on top of me."
There was a hushed atmosphere in the room. Everyone was waiting nervously for him to finish.
"I started screaming and thrashing and screaming some more, my body frightened half to death. In a split second after this, I heard a car door slam, and the dogs thought it sounded like a thunderbolt cracking. The dogs began to whimper and started running in fear. I ran even faster than I did before to make sure I wasn't going to get pounced on again, and now...I'm here. "Whoa," I said scared, "We need to alert the military A.S.A.P."
If they came any closer to the treehouse, we would have to be forced to battle... I thought to myself, worried.
Me and the Air Force stayed up late trying to brainstorm ideas and thoughts so they would be prepared. Everyone was counting on me to protect and care for them. I was nervous that I would blow up my only chance of being trusted again after what happened last time...
It was about a year ago, I was building a treehouse for my family. It was a long and hard process. I decided that I would need some help, so I asked some of my buddies to come over. The next day, we began to work, and we took breaks every now and then. We were moving fast. Until an accident happened.
My big family of squirrels were touring the treehouse because we were almost done. We made sure that everyone was wearing hard hats. Then, the unthinkable happened.
We had left a bucket full of an oily black liquid open in the house. We were using it to make the oven, and it worked. But I wasn't thinking and I had fire in my hand. The whole building exploded with my family and friends inside probably dead.
All our work destroyed, my family trapped with nothing to do but die and rot. I was devastated I tried to dig them out but It just was not working. I gave up after 2 hours of getting my hands dirty with the firefighters, I began heading home. It was the only time I was scared of my own self. I felt alone and hopeless.
