Alleyway Confessions

Charlie hadn't really expected the famous Captain Levi to be so small in stature. He also didn't expect him to be so mean, yet kind at the same time. Levi turned to Charlie who was still staring at him curiously. He had now stopped saluting to the long gone grandmother of the late Kido Rubin. He nodded at Charlie as he started to walk away.

Charlie yelled after him, "Wait!"

Levi's seemingly placid face from before left him quickly as he turned around to give Charlie one of the most intimidating glares he'd ever received in his 20 years of life. "I don't have time to chit-chat," he said coldly.

"I didn't mean to slow you down," Charlie answered reluctantly. He didn't really want to make this small man any more annoyed.

"Well then what was your intention, other than to be an annoying twat?" Charlie froze. He didn't really have an eloquent enough reason, and he didn't want to look like the twat Levi thought he was. "Of course you don't answer me. Like I said, I'm kind of in a rush." Levi began to walk away again and you could practically feel the amount of annoyance radiating off of him. He was quite unapproachable wasn't he?

The horse Charlie rode there neighed subtly as Levi approached. He soon stopped though, as Levi placed his small hand on his snout. Apparently, he had a way with horses. Charlie was suddenly able to find his voice as Captain Levi hopped on his horse defiantly and started ride away.

"Wait!" He called out after Levi. It looked as if Levi was going to flick him off, but decided not to as he stared down at a small child and their dog. "You can't just take that!"

Levi turned around with somewhat of a smirk on his face. "Captain privileges!" He started to ride a little faster, but not too fast as he was still able to trample children in the roads.

Charlie didn't particularly want to make a scene out here in public, but the Captain was giving him no choice in the matter. He'd have to either fight for the horse, or go home and say it was stolen. Though, the latter was the least likely to happen as Charlie doubted an officer such as Levi would just take a horse and not return it. Charlie's face grew angry as he jogged up to his horse that was currently occupied by a smirking Captain Levi.

"You've had your fun, now give me back my horse!"

"No," Levi said plainly with no emotion.

Charlie was baffled. "Just because you're a higher rank than myself doesn't mean that you can go around stealing people's things!"

Levi stopped the horse so that he could more efficiently glare at Charlie. "First of all, I think I can, brat. Second, did you just call this horse a thing? Like you own it! You've got a lot of nerve, you know that?"

"I just want my horse back." Charlie had grown tired of all the antics. He just wanted to finish this so he could continue with his task.

"Well sorry," Levi sarcastically apologized, "but this horse doesn't like you."

"Excuse me?" Charlie had trained with that horse for years. Horse riding was one of his favorite things to do, because life in the MP was extremely boring most of the time. "How do you know what the horse is thinking?"

"I speak horse dumb ass!" With that, Levi kicked the underside of the horse making it rise upwards and neigh into the sky before coming back down and galloping away. Luckily, children weren't playing in the streets otherwise they would've been trampled.

Charlie mimicked, "I speak horse dumb ass! Please!"

"Mommy, what does dumb ass mean?" Charlie heard a small child ask his mother.

His mother gasped. "Where did you hear that?"

He speed-walked quickly away before he could hear the end of that conversation. The last thing he needed was to be complained about to his commander. As he was speed-walking away, he was suddenly pulled into a nearby alleyway. He was immediately kicked in the back of his knees, making him fall to the ground. A hand was covering his mouth, but that didn't keep him from struggling. Until, of course, a knife was held to his neck. That made him shut up quick.

"Don't worry dumb ass," a familiar voice said to him. "I'm not gonna kill you. Just don't act as stupid as Jaeger when I take away my hand."

Charlie may not have known who he was referring to when he said "Jaeger", but he did have knowledge of Levi. He instantly grew angry and felt like punching him. Charlie was let go of and he immediately tried punching him, but was disappointed when Levi caught his first midway.

He threw him down as he said, "I thought I told you not to act as stupid as Jaeger! Not surprising, you're MP scum."

"What the hell does that mean? MP scum?"

"It means you're MP scum, dumb ass. You know what, if I have to keep calling you that it's gonna be your new nickname. I hope you like it, because I'm pretty sure that'll be happening."

"Just shut up and explain why you were trying to rape me in an alleyway!"

Levi showed no reaction to the accusation. "I need some information that you obviously have."

"What information do I have that the all powerful Captain Levi doesn't?" Charlie scoffed.

"Shut up brat and listen. I need you to tell me someone's address."

"Excuse me? I'm not gonna do that! No one deserves to have you show up on their doorstep." Charlie glared at Levi.

"I'm flattered but it's not like I was asking for your address. I'm not into guys."

"Shut up! You know what I meant."

"No actually I didn't catch that. Give me the addresses and I'll be out of your hair; quick and easy." Levi started to fix his perfect cravat and other seemingly perfect articles of clothing as he tried to pretend to be bored.

"The addresses are confidential. I can't give them to you," Charlie said matter-of-factly.

"Listen to me," Levi's tone was tinged with annoyance. "I don't have time to dick around with you. I'm a higher rank. Tell me the addresses. Otherwise I'll have to report you to your commander for insubordination."

Levi's threat hung in the air as Charlie considered his options. Insubordination could get him some heavy punishment and embarrassment, and this wasn't really worth it, was it? Charlie sighed. "Fine. Who's address do you want?"

"I want-"

"LEEEEEVVIIIII!" Came an ecstatic voice from the entrance to the alleyway they were in. "I found you!"

"Oh, no," Levi groaned.

Assuming that he knew this woman, Charlie asked, "Who's she? Your girlfriend?" Levi shot him an intense glare. "Okay then not your girlfriend."

"Hanji!" Levi called out. "Why the hell are you here? Didn't I tell you to stay back and watch over my squad for me?"

"I know, but they're big boys and girls now; they don't need me to babysit them!"

"Are you kidding me? Wasn't it just last week that Connie and Sasha got into your invisibility glitter? Wasn't it just last week that Eren got caught in freaking bubble wrap? Wasn't it just last week that-"

"That's all in the past Levi!"

"Barely," his tone made it sound like he was extremely sick of Hanji's antics. "Leave me alone. I asked you for the favor and you didn't deliver, so I'm done with you. I'm busy." Levi stared at Charlie who was now completely confused.

"I'm sorry," Charlie began, "but can someone please tell me what this is all about?"

"I need to return something to someone," Levi stated plainly.

"Is it the same thing like Kido?"

"Similar to that, yes." Hanji suddenly had a surprised look on her face. "What are you looking at Shitty Glasses?" Levi yelled annoyed.

"Kido...," she almost whispered. "Kido Rubin?"

Levi stopped giving Charlie an intense glare so that he could glare at Hanji instead, with a remnant of an emotion that might've been surprise. "Kido Rubin in Squad Six."

Hanji ran at them and when she reached them she said, "Tell me everything that you know about Kido Rubin. What does this man mean when he says, 'Is it the same thing as Kido?'"

Charlie opened his mouth to speak, but got cut off by Levi who began explaining. "As I was cleaning out late cadets' rooms, I found two journals. One belonged to Kido Rubin and the other belonged to Kyle Gordon. Both cadets belonged to Squad Six, which is the squad that gave their lives to that we could lure the female titan. Something that they shouldn't have given their lives for it seems. That mission accomplished nothing save death. Upon seeing the journals, I took them and I read them. Their possessions were sent off to their families missing their journals. It's my responsibility to return them to their families and give them closure."

"Why do you assume it's your responsibility to assure the families closure?" Hanji asked curiously.

Levi opened his mouth and just let it hang there. It seemed as if he couldn't construct a proper sentence. "I don't know," he said finally.

Hanji looked extremely surprised. Charlie didn't know how to act so he just watched Levi carefully. Based off of Hanji's reaction though, he could tell that Levi not knowing wasn't an event that occurred often.

Hanji sighed. "I have a confession to make."

"Is that so? I'm pretty sure you already told me at dinner." Charlie was extremely confused. By "dinner" did he mean like they were on a date? He knew it wasn't his place to get himself involved in their personal matters, but he found other humans' lives so much more interesting.

"Oh, yes. That's correct, but I didn't tell you the full story."

"Then tell it," Levi said. He then tried to sit down somewhere, but then realized that he was in a filthy alleyway as he looked down around him with disgust.

"I told you about Jessica Lamprey who was also in Squad Six, and now that you've told me what you have, I understand your comment "she was the asshole-y-not-asshole-y one," but I didn't tell you that I read Cameron Blanc's as well. She talked about Kido a lot."

"Kido was going to propose to her as soon as they got back from the mission." Levi looked down in sadness.

Hanji was surprised. "Was he? She certainly would've said yes I'm sure." The atmosphere was heavy as Hanji continued with her next sentence. "I'm here to return Cameron's journal as well."

"And what? You're just going to keep Jessica's? That journal belongs to her family now."

"No, it belongs to her."

"Wait, what?"

"Jessica Lamprey survived. She wrote down in detail all of her comrades deaths as she watched. I got pulled out of dinner by Erwin, because I was that thief you had warned me about. Jessica had discovered her journal was gone and accused me, because I was the last one in her room. Believe me, I was extremely surprised as well when I saw her just sitting in his office."

"That's odd because I'm positive that I would've seen her around somewhere or another and would've known that she wasn't dead." Levi conjured up the image in his mind of the document of who survived and who lived. He was positive that it read that Jessica had died. He dismissed it though. I mean, he knew that he needed to account for human error.

"It was awful because she said that she wished she had died with the rest of her squad. She had feelings for Kyle Gordon, and I can't even imagine what she must've felt as she watched him die."

Levi slightly laughed. "She did, did she? That's a bit sad, because Kyle was gay."

Charlie was now extremely annoyed not knowing what the hell was going on and what they were going on about. "I'm sorry, but am I ever going to get a proper explanation?"

Levi turned around to glare once again at Charlie. "Dumb ass. Maybe if you opened your ears you'd hear it!"

"Well, sheesh," Charlie huffed in silent embarrassment.

Levi's glare softened as he turned back to face Hanji. "We don't have a lot of time before we're called back to headquarters, since we left without giving a proper heads-up."

"Right," Hanji said. "We need to hurry up then."

"Do you have the addresses now?"

"Eh... um, I kind of lied," she confessed while looking at the ground.

"Lied? How?"

"I didn't come out here to find you at all. In fact, I wasn't even thinking about you when I left. I came out here specifically to return the journal, so sorry to burst your bubble."

"I didn't have a bubble in the first place," he said with his icy tone back. Levi turned back to Charlie. "You have the addresses, right?"

"Yeah, but they're back at headquarters," he said, happy that they were including him in the conversation again.

Levi picked Charlie up by the collar. Charlie became surprised because he was almost two times this man's size. He lifted him up until he could stand on his own two feet.

"Come on then," Levi said as he let go of Charlie's collar. He then clapped his hands together to get rid of what seemed like imaginary dust, though you can apparently never know with Levi. He had a cleaner's eyes.

"O-okay," Charlie stuttered.

"Come on, Levi!" Hanji yelled as she started to run. "RACE YOU!"

"I'll beat you!" He yelled. "She can interpret that however she so chooses," he said quietly to Charlie, as they both started walking after the ecstatic Hanji.
