Bill stormed out of the pub, leaving John confused and Tom preparing to talk.

"What's wrong with Bill?"

"After all these years, I'd thought you'd know everything about him." Tom sighed. "It started a long time ago, in high school, when we were friends..."

"Bill had his first girlfriend. He was shy and didn't know anything about dating. He was so charming and nice, but he deserved better. She was a brat, and treated everyone with disrespect. Except, she knew that she could control Bill, so pretended to be delighted to be his girlfriend. Bill was led to believe that she really liked him, and would spend the rest of her life with him.

Until, he came. Another snarky kid who only cared about himself and this girl. Bill was immediately dumped, and forgotten. When he asked why, she only said "You were so stupid to think that I would ever love you." And shoved him to the ground. Everyone laughed at him for being a fool. They cheered on the new couple, and forgot about Bill entirely. I was the only friend he had after everyone betrayed him.

It took him years to find another girlfriend, and I helped him. But every time, they just used him. He was so nice and polite, and each time they showed no love in return. Each time he got more and more desprate, but not a single one liked him even a bit. He lost himself in the process of trying to find love, and he ended up the way he is now.

Years later, clear after college, we met you. And now he works in a bar. Is that all you need to know?"

"I never thought that Bill was ever like that. I thought that he was always grumpy." Said John, going down the rainy street with Tom.

"Well, now you know. I guess I'll see you tomorrow." Said Tom, walking into his home.

"Yeah. See ya..." Said John, walking along the rainy street. Lightning shined in the distance, telling him that he needed to get home quickly.

All that was heard was the fall of the rain, rippling into the night.
