Chapter 29 [Tenki's Match]

Date: 29th May, Saturday

Tenma's POV

This past week I had been coming to the Riverbank to train him for his upcoming test to see if he can make it to the Kids Football Club. I will say he improved a lot in the past week. He was a lot quicker to react and able to steal the ball from me.

Today was the day that Raimon was gonna be having a match against Gassan Kunimitsu. Instead of finding out why Coach had dismissed me from the team I decided to be a better, dependable and supporting  older brother. I sat on the slope to watch the match from a distance. Even so it was quite enjoyable. I saw 3 kids fall while playing. But i don't think the moms who are standing watching their children appreciate me laughing now and then. So I try to keep my laughter, but it can be quite hard when the child starts throwing a tantrum and bawling their eyes out.

Once in a while my brother will look at me and I'd give him a thumb's up with a grin. After seeing that I think he calms his nervousness a bit. It was quite adorable. Although we tend to fight sometimes, there are time when we don't. It was nice to see my brother enjoying a sport he genuinely liked.

"Looks like this is where you were." I recognized a familiar voice. I paused for a moment thinking maybe it wasn't them. I turned my head to see a woman with short light brown hair and light greyish blue eyes. She was wearing a light green and white striped mid sleeved blouse with blue pants up to her knees.

"MOM?!" I blurted out in surprise.

"Hello Tenma." She said as sit sat down next to me.

"What are you doing here?" I asked her still in surprise.

"Well, I heard you were gonna be playing in the frontier tournament, but it seems like you didn't get a chance to appear in the game today." She said. She came here to watch me?

"Oh, the coach dismissed me from the game." I said as I looked away from her. I couldn't really face her to tell the lie. "Why did he do that?" She asked.

"Oh I hurt my ankle so Coach said it would be better to play after I was better." I said as I laughed off and faced her.

"Oh really?" She asked to make sure. She looked at me deeply to keep the eye contact.

"Yeah." I said as my eyes looked away.

"Liar" She said as she figured out I was lying.

"Eh? how did you know?" I blurted out in surprise.

"I'm your mother I know when you are lying." She said proudly.

"That sucks" I said as I pouted. "Also you tend to look away when you lie a lot." She explained. "Oh I see." I guess it is something parents notice after raising us.

"So Tenkishi wants to play soccer as well?" She said changing the subject.

"Ah, I guess" I said.

"Have you both being getting along well?" She asked. "Yeah, i helped him train to play the game this week." I answered proudly.

"Have you both been eating well?" She asked. "Yeah, Aki-nee calls us every time dinner is ready." I answered.

"Do you both miss Okinawa?" She asked all of a sudden.

"... I don't. But I don't know about Tenki. I think he likes it here." I answered.

"I see" She said in a sad tone.

A whistle was blown as the game had ended. I got up and slide down the grass to the ground. Tenki came running to me at full speed and hugged me. I patted his head and told him. "Good job, you did amazing."

"I know right, I found an opening and passed the ball over to my friend and he scored a goal." He said in excitement.

"That's wonderful, sweetheart." My mom spoke as she came down and stood next to me.

"Mom?!" He said excitedly as went in for a hug from her. She lifted him up and held him. "Do you think you will make the team?" She asked him.

"Yeah, I did an amazing job." He said proudly. I smiled as I saw him being proud of his plays.

"Kishi!" I heard a young boy called out as he approached us. Tenki quickly dropped from mom's arms and stood up straight. No one would want to get caught being held by their parents at this age. The young boy had long spiky blonde hair. While the rest of his hair was pulled back, one piece of hair struck out onto his face. His brown eyes reminded me of Gouneji Shuuya a bit.

"That was an amazing game. We are gonna pass for sure." He said as he high-fived Tenki. "Yeah"

"Good job you two!" A young girl came approaching running with both her arms spread out like a plane.

She had brown short hair into a ponytail with black eyes. She was wearing a frog bucket hat with a blue overalls shirt over a white t-shirt. She looked so adorable. She came and held both Tenki and his friend's hand to congratulate them. A young male came walking over to us.

"Yuki don't run off like that you could get lost." He spoke in soft voice.

"Sorry Onii-san" She spoke. It was her brother. They didn't seem to share appearance even though they were siblings. He had pale skin and a small mole below his lips. He had amber eyes with a sharp gaze. He was wearing a cap so I could not tell the color of his hair. He was wearing a flannel shirt over a black graphic T-shirt with black jeans. Maybe she looks more like the mom and he looks like the dad.

"I hope you don't mind my sister." He spoke in a gentle tone. "Oh, of course not" I replied to him.

"ALL THE PLAYERS PLEASE COME TO THE MIDDLE OF THE FIELD, WE ARE GOING TO SELECT THE CHOSEN PLAYERS FOR THE TEAM" A man announced over a microphone.

"Come on let's go, Kishi" Tenki's friend said before running over to the field. Tenki looked a bit nervous so I just gave him a slight push and told him "Good Luck". He nodded and went over to join his friends.

"I think I'm gonna go back to the Manor and help Aki out to make yours and Tenkishi's favorites. Sounds good?" Mom said as she was about to head back.

"Yeah" I agreed and gave her a nod. She waved goodbye and went back to the manor. "Was that your mom?" A voice spoke beside me. It was the girl's brother.

"Oh, Yeah. She was my mom" I said.

"Quite young I'd say." He complimented.  "Thanks" I said. I hope he's not trying to get my mom. I thought.

"Was that kid your brother or something?" I asked him. Since the girl also knew the boy.

"Hm?"

"Sorry it's just she seemed to greet them both that's why." I explained.

"Oh, the blonde hair kid. He's not my brother but my fiancé's younger brother." He answered. "Oh I see"

"His name is Tsumugi Haiiro and This is my younger sister Yuki." He introduced her.

"Hi" She greeted me. I just smiled and said "Hi" back to her. But... Did he just say Tsumugi? As is Tsumugi Haru? Younger brother of Haru? What did he mean by fiancé? Just then I remembered some conversations from before.

"She's lying, we just bumped into each other coincidentally. I was dropping my sister of at her school for some event and she just happened to be there as well dropping her brother off. Then she just dragged me along to hangout with her."

"I overheard a conversation between my parents when I was grabbing a drink from the fridge. Since my brother was going pro, my parents decided to keep a fiancé ready for him. And that person was Haru."

"AH, TSURUGI'S BROTHER??" I blurted out as I connected the dots and pointed at him.

"uh... How did you know?" He looked at me baffled by my reaction.

"Ah, well its just... I'm a friend- I mean, I'm teammates with him in Raimon." I said as I was looking away from his eyes.

"Then what are you doing here? I thought Raimon was playing against their first opponents in the football frontier today."

"OH, I sprained my ankle last week so Coach told me to take the week off." I laughed off lying to him.

"I see. Did Tsurugi tell you about me? Or-" He asked but I cut his sentence off.

"OH yeah Tsurugi right. Yeah no, he mentioned about his sister and his brother a few times so." I didn't wanna say about the fact that I figured it because I knew about the arranged marriage with Tsumugi. Tsurugi might kill me if I told anyone about it.

Tsurugi's POV

I sneezed as I finished my drink.

"You good?" Haru asked as she was offering my towel. "Yeah" I said taking the towel to wipe my nose.

"Seems like someone is talking about you, Mr. Popular"

"And I see no one is talking about you, Ms Lone wolf" I replied to her. "You" She murmured.

"Alright, looks like we are behind by a lot." Coach spoke in a serious tone. "I hope none of you underestimated the frontiers because this is gonna be tough"

He wasn't joking though. This was a lot more tough than the districts. We were behind by two points. The score was 0-2 with Gassan Kunimitsu in the lead. This wasn't good. I have tried to get past their defense but they were unbreakable. Damn it.
