"You can see me?" Ganymede asked. His clothes had turned to rags as he lay listlessly on the floor of the once unconquerable Mount Olympus.

The old gods had long moved on, their existence merely acknowledged not worshipped. Only Zeus had retained his influence although in a different guise. His new seat of power was in the heart of Rome, not his place of his birth.

"You exist because we still tell your story but I can see you because I believe in you," I said in my best rendition of the ancient Greek language.

He looked at me in confusion.

"I can provide sustenance, clean clothing and a warm bath," I said, almost unable to contain my excitement at having found the cupbearer of Zeus himself.

Ganymede's eyes sparkled at the offer of a bath.

The journey down the mountain was quite the struggle but once we reached the bottom, my comfortable convertible made the journey to Thessaloniki a lot easier.

I brought the tired frame of the immortal to my one bedroom apartment on the top floor and ran him a hot bath as promised.

Despite his delepidated state, Ganymede was more beautiful than the myths had described. I couldn't help but glance as he let his ratty robe drop onto my bathroom floor.

He let out an epic sigh as he lowered himself into the hot water. "Thank you," he whispered, grabbing the soap. He did not seem bothered in the slightest by me witnessing his nudity.

The young man, who had been granted eternal youth by Zeus himself looked very different in a set of modern clothes. He sat at my kitchen table, eating a sandwich with a glass of milk. He had eyed the lunch I made strangely but quickly followed my lead.

"Delicious. Thank you," he said, his Greek so old that I had trouble understanding.

"My pleasure," I said with a smile.

"Why did you seek me out? Why did you bring me here?" Ganymede asked, once he was clean and fed.

"I will bathe in your immortal blood so that I too can live forever," I said calmly.
