Prologue
(In this chapter, whatever Ireland is going to say is going to be in Celtic. I will put the English translations in parentheses, so you won't have to use google translate (I honestly don't think it works anyways) :P.)
*~*Little Ireland's POV*~*
"Cad atá i gceist, Grandpa Róimh? (What do you mean, Grandpa Rome?)" I asked, looking him in the eyes.
I could understand what he was saying was in Latin, and I knew what he was saying, I just didn't know how to pronounce the words.
"Watch out for a big country that will rip your home apart. You will be two separate countries if you let them take over. Careful who you trust, Ireland," He had said.
"Ach cén tír é? Is é ceann go bhfuil a fhios againn? (But what country is it? Is is one that we know?)" I had asked, being the naive child I was.
"Not one now. You will understand when you are older..." He had said, as a little Italy came running up to him with paper in his hand.
"Ach Grandpa Róimh cén fáth go bhfuil I- (But Grandpa Rome why do I-)" I had started but I was cut off by an excited Italy.
"I finished a picture! What do you think!?" He asked, jumping up and down.
I was barely older than him, but I was more mature than him by a long shot.
Grandpa Rome just beamed with happiness when he saw the drawing.
"Tá mé ag dul abhaile ar feadh na hoíche. An bhfuil go ceart go leor? (I'm going home for the night. Is that okay?)" I asked, and a surprised Italy met my gaze.
"BUT YOU CAN'T LEAVE YET! YOU HAVEN'T DRAWN A PICTURE! YOUR PICTURES ARE AMAZING!" He said, pulling on my skirt. I looked down at him, and he was just too cute to say no to.
"Deireadh. Ní bheadh sé gortaithe chun fanacht le beagán níos faide. Mo athir fhios cén áit tá mé, cibé scéal é. (Fine. It wouldn't hurt to wait a little longer. My father knows where I am, anyway.)" I said, sitting down as Italy ran off to grab a paper and pencil for me.
That's how we spent the last moments with Grandpa Rome. Italy went to go live with his brothers, and I went back to my home, where I dwelled on Grandpa Rome's words. My father sitting in his chair he had made, his long brownish-red hair acting as his pillow. My twin brother sleeping one his lap.
'There's going to be another country who was going to tear my home in two... I CAN'T LET THAT HAPPEN! I'LL KILL WHATEVER COUNTRY TRIES TO TAKE MY HOME!' I thought as I stepped outside to the open fields of my Shamrock sprinkled home, my father noticed, and moved to stand beside me. He gave me a small nouge while giving a hearty laugh.'I will DIE before I let someone take over my country.'

AN and what I actually think would have happened (Warning this is really long):
If you're wondering, I just gave up on trying to fix this chapter. If I had too, than the ENTIRE chapter would have to be changed, and since school started, I don't have time anymore. I just fixed some english and added Northern Ireland into the story, because I think he would have been alive at the time, just called a different country name.
Considering that the northern part of the isle of Ireland was quicker to convert to christianity than that of the southern half. They were different from the start, and the isle was split into two tribe type things to begin with. Not only that but Romans were actually scared of Hibernia, and never invaded the isle because they heard that it was full of terrifying warriors, so it would make no sense if Ireland, Hibernia's 'child', was friends with Rome at the time.
However, on the topic of that, looking around on the internet now, there are places that said that the Romans were thinking about it, but the Scottish rebellions showed them how much of a pain that the Celts can be to deal with, and they were tight on supplies. I wouldn't doubt that they tried to do it, but were unable to due to problems that kept popping up to get in their way.
Although, it isn't clear as to what time this is set in. Like whether or not they had already converted to catholicism yet.
I also feel like that Britannia and Hibernia weren't actually the Irish twins' parents, but Hibernia just found them in Newgrange, close to death with their actual mom asking him to take care of them before she died. I thought of this because there were actually people that had lived there before the Celts, that built Newgrange, and a few of the famous stone works in the two countries.
That's all, and I told you that this explainer was long. I may end up changing the story later on, so that's something. I know I didn't post this on Saturday like my schedule says I should. So... Surprise? Also I noticed that this was one of my more popular Hetalia works, so if you were following this story. Here ya go! Over a year late though! hahahahahah... haaa... I'm a failure... also sorry. See ya!
