Part 2 - Found you
I wake up in an unfamiliar surrounding with a throbbing headache, I reach for my hand starting to rub it trying to relieve my pain.
I swing my legs over the bed and sit up, I immediately regret my decision as I start to feel dizzy and lightheaded.
Closing my eyes I sit myself back on the bed trying to gain control of the situation when I hear a deep voice beside me "Easy there girl" I dart my eyes open to see a vaguely familiar man sitting next to me on the bed.
I bolt upwards feeling unsafe alone here with him, standing in front of him but also keeping my distance I demand "Where am I?".
He looks at me understandingly as if he could see the confusion in me "You fainted on Beaumont street earlier today, I took you home and called the village's doctor to assist me with your recovery, he said you only got a minor concussion and you should be more careful in the future".
l stare at the man taken aback by his words "Why did I faint?" I say as I slowly take my seat back on the bed next to him, He shrugs "I don't know really, you wished to know what year it was and started to panic when I replied then you fell on the pavement and lost conscious" he states.
I take a moment of silence as a flash of memories come back to me as I recoil everything that had happened earlier today and then l turn to the man with a smile "It worked".
"What worked?" He asks.
"It worked" I say excitedly more to myself than him as realization hits me,I slowly stand from my seat next to him and turn my head to look at him.
"Can you please take me back to where I fainted earlier?"
He stands up from his spot on the bed and walks towards me with a look on his face that indicates that he is mentally debating with himself whether or not to listen to me.
There is a moment of silence that feels like eternity "Of course if you wish to miss, let's go" He finally says.
As we walk back. I look at the sight around me, small rusty looking houses are all around me with children and merchants and shop keepers scattered around minding about their day, the streets look rougher than the one I remember being in this afternoon, and also the people look different; somehow they manage to look weaker? as we continue walking around I read a small sign with scribbled words on them with black paint 'you are now leaving the southside' not long after that we emerge to the main street the scenery is drastically different from the one I just saw these are tall buildings freshly painted and look more well kept than the houses we just past just few streets away,
I gaze amazingly at the people and street as I coil a peace of my strawberry blond hair around my finger as I always do.
Horses carrying carriages with people on them transporting them from one place to another, women with steel hoops under their long skirts and petticoats wrapping their hands around the one's of what I would guess are their husbands who wear suits with long tails, shopkeepers bustling in and out of their shops trying to lure customers in as I scan the beautiful city of London l hear someone clear their throat next to me "I'm Henry Brown by the way" I look up at him and smile.
"Nice to meet you Mr Brown"
"Oh no don't call me that, I'm not used to formalities" he chuckles next to me and I give him a genuine smile "Just call me Henry if you please" he adds.
"What about you?" He questions and I look at him stupidly trying to figure out what he's asking about as l am so consumed in my thoughts "Oh yeah.. Ann, Annabelle White"
We walk silently the rest of the way until we see his newspaper stand in sight he points to it "This is where you fainted" he says as we reach the stand.
I study the street up and down trying to figure out where it is.
I turn to Henry "Where exactly did I come up to you from?" I ask. "Right there is where I first saw you, you looked pretty lost".
I don't waste a moment as I sprint to the direction he was pointing at without hesitation, before I'm completely out of sight I turn back and shout "Thank you Henry, see you soon!"
He quirks a smile and waves at me as I turn around focusing all my direction to find it.
I walk down the street trying to look for anything that may lead to it, as I pass a corner something gleamed at the corner of my eye when I turned around and went straight ahead to where the light was glinting as I reach the end of the tunnel, a grin flickered across my face "Found you".
