Twenty Two
It has been two weeks since Matrix confessed what the feels towards me.
It has also been a month since I launched my Youtube channel and I had gained almost two thousand subscribers.
I was busy replying to an inquiry thru my email address when my phone rang.
"Hello, babe. Dress up and I'll pick you up there. I'm on my way. Be there by five pm." Matrix' deep voice said and hung up.
"Huh? We-" I was about to answer back but was greeted by a beeping sound.
I sighed and finished replying to the inquiry. I hit send and I shut down my laptop.
I glanced at the clock and noticed it's still three o'clock.
I still have an hour to shower and dress up before meeting Matrix.
I singsongingly grabbed my towel and bathrobe before entering my shower area.
After almost thirty minutes, I was in my room and applying lotion to my legs and arms.
I sighed when I didn't realize I have no idea what's going on.
Matrix left me wondering how to dress up!
I mean, I didn't know what's the occasion, where are we going or are we going to meet someone.
Once done with the lotion, I went to my wardrobe and carefully checked my dresses.
It's been a while since I dressed up for something, rather, for someone.
I saw my red, sleeveless dress. Nope. Too bold.
I then, saw a royal blue haltered maxi dress. Too flashy and very summer-y.
I gazed at my yellow spaghetti strapped dress. Too revealing.
Then, my eyes rested on my baby pink short-sleeved knee-length dress and know I just found my outfit of the day.
I gladly pulled it out from the rack and ironed it out.
I wore it and put on my strappy one inch sandals.
I applied my lipstick and had my powder on.
Satisfied with my look, I snapped a selfie and grinned at my cocky self and posted it on my IG story.
I recently decided to lose my eyeglasses and replaced it with a new one.
I got my sling bag from my rack and opted to check the things inside it.
I read every slip of papers stuck inside and threw irrelevant ones.
A valid ID, house keys, ballpen, some cash, lipstick and small mirror are the things which I left inside.
I was killing time on my sofa with my cellphone which I just charged awhile ago when it rang again.
"Come out now, beautiful." Matrix said.
My eyes reached the clock on my cell and immediately jumped out from my seat to the door.
"Hey, love." Matrix said and gave me a hug.
I hugged him back. "Ano meron? Bakit biglaan ka nagyaya?" I asked as we locked my door.
We were holding each others hands as we walk towards his car.
The sky was orange and beautiful.
Setting sun gave the sky its awesome glow.
Matrix drove us somewhere quite far from the city.
I didn't know I dozed off for a while when I woke up with a wisp of fresh air.
Matrix, like the gentleman that he is, stepped out of the car first and opened the car door for me.
He smiled and held my hand tightly.
I smiled back and faced forward.
A beautiful gazebo like restaurant welcomed my sight.
"Good evening, sir and mademoiselle." The receptionist greeted us and we greeted them back.
The lady guided us to our table at the far right corner of the restaurant.
I was in awe of the place.
Foreign flowers adorned the corners of the ceiling and the open windows gave justice to the calm ambiance inside.
"Gosh! Ang ganda dito!" I can't help but to gush with Matrix.
He just gave a light chuckle when he pulled out the chair for me before I sat down.
He sat beside me and we ordered orange juice for a while.
He was about to utter words when a woman and a man both in their late fifties approached our table.
I looked up at them and was surprised to see that the man resembles Matrix and Onyx perfectly.
Their same toothy smile makes them a carbon copy of each other.
The woman, on the other hand, never lose its flair. Despite her age, her smooth fair skin stood out.
"Honey! Is this Clarinet?" The woman exclaimed when she noticed my presence.
She bent down as Matrix and her exchange kisses on their cheeks and did the same with me.
I was at first, startled, but quickly regained my composure.
"Good evening po." Was all that I could muster.
"Good evening too, dear Clari." The woman smiled at me and quickly told to her husband her order.
The waiter took our orders before leaving us to each others' entertainment.
"Marunong pumili ang anak ko!" The man chuckled and Matrix blushed.
"Forgive my manners, babe. Clarinet, meet my parents, Scythe and Rusty." Matrix said.
"It was nice meeting you po, Mr. and Mrs. De Silva." I said to them.
His mom, Scythe, laughed and her husband, Rusty, clapped his hands with glee.
"Oh my God! Drop the misis! I look like an old hag! Tita Scythe will do!" Tita Scythe exclaimed and wiped her tears.
"Hindi mo naman sinabi, nak, joker pala si Clari." Tito Rusty said, still in giggles.
We shared a round of laughter when Tito Rusty told us about Matrix' childhood mischievousness. Dinner were served shortly.
We were all engrossed in our conversation when Tita Scythe called out Onyx' name.
I looked at him and smiled.
I saw him with his two year old daughter and probably his wife.
"Hey, Mom." Onyx bent down to kiss her on the cheeks and did the same to his father. "Hey, Dad. Sorry we're late."
It just occurred to me that there was indeed unoccupied chairs in our table.
Maybe I was too overwhelmed to notice it before.
"Hello there, Winona." Onyx smiled at me and I did the same.
"Hello po, boss." I said politely which resulted to the blank confused looks on Tita Scythe and Tito Rusty's faces.
"She works for me at the restaurant, mom." Onyx said and he sat his daughter on a high chair. "Hello, brother."
Matrix just nodded and glanced at Onyx' wife and child.
"Oh, Clarinet these are my wife, Hilary and my two year old bundle of joy, Kyla." Onyx introduced his companions and I politely smiled at them.
Kyla seemed to know that she was the topic when flashed me her kiddy grin and waved at me.
I waved back at her and she giggled.
"Enough with the introductories, order your food, dearies." Tita Scythe said and continued her food.
The usual happy aura earlier seemed to die down.
Obviously the feud between these two brothers is still present.
The dinner thankfully ended well.
Hilary and I clicked together while we talked about our love for sweets.
"I'll see you soon, Clari." Hilary whispered when she gave me a hug. "I'll add you on Facebook."
I nodded and winked at her. I even kissed their daughter goodbye.
"Let's bond soon, girls. It was a pleasure meeting you, Clari!" Tita Scythe said when we reached the parking lot.
"Bye, everyone. We still have a long drive back home." Matrix said to them and we entered the car.
"I'm happy you and mom got along." Matrix said when we're on the road.
"Why? Mabait naman si Tita ah." I asked and looked at him.
He shook his head. "She was a beast with all my exes before. Even with Liz. Maybe, she felt at ease with you."
So, dapat na ba akong kabahan?
