Fifteen
Everything flew by fast.
Mom and dad pushed thru with their annulment.
It was currently on process.
Sheena flew to the US when Tita Elena offered to pay her college tuition and in return will work for her.
My sister agreed and they talked with our parents.
We did not separate with heavy hearts but it pains me to be seeing her off.
She's off to pursue her dreams.
Her dream of being an architect.
I love my major, don't get me wrong.
But, I always find myself in front of the laptop or my cellphone, putting all my thoughts and imagination in writing.
Ever since I was a kid, I was fond of reading piles of pocketbooks.
I was a fan of Sweet Valley High and Dean Koontz way back then.
Maybe that was one of the reasons why I began wearing eyeglasses.
I used to read until the wee hours of night.
When I was about to enter college, reading glasses don't apply anymore.
I have troubles seeing without glasses on.
I went to see an ophthalmologist and true enough, I was prescribed to wear graded eyeglasses since then.
Back to the present, I was able to tell my parents that I plan to live on my own in an apartment or condominium.
At first, they hesitated and convinced me to stay.
They told me that Sheena already left our house, and leaving them will only make the house an empty home.
It took them weeks before they allowed me with my decision.
I was able to get myself a job near Green Heights.
The one where I had my three-day staycation before.
I, now, work for a food production company as a junior marketing analyst.
I was grateful that Louisse's cousin offered me her unit since she will migrate to England after her upcoming wedding this quarter.
Green Heights was the most accessible condominium in the area.
If I haven't told you before, stores and shops are located almost within the vicinity so it was a great choice for residential living.
Dad helped me picked up things as he drove me to the condo.
I brought all my necessities and a couple of corporate apparel and dresses to the unit.
I'll just shop for groceries tomorrow.
Dad bid me goodbye before leaving me alone in the unit.
I have unloaded the boxes and will arrange them neatly inside my wardrobe cabinet later.
I started fixing all the easiest ones on top of the dresser and my toiletries in the bathroom.
As soon as I was done, my stomach complained and I checked the time.
It screams lunch already so I grabbed my keys, phone and wallet and slid them inside my sling bag.
I also managed to grab my folded umbrella in case it rains today before closing my door.
I walked to the elevator and smiled at the tenants who were already inside.
When we reached the ground floor, I let my feet walk me to the fast food store.
I was craving for something sweet later on and something grilled so I went to Mang Inasal.
The queue was long but I can still endure the hunger.
I was able to get to the counter so I ordered PM2 and halo halo for dessert.
I was lucky to find a table so I eagerly sat down.
I don't mind eating alone.
I just want to fill this hunger so I can move on to my tasks today.
A friendly waiter did his rounds and I asked for an extra rice.
Someone also filled my saucer with their trademark soup, my all-time fave, sinigang.
My tummy was indeed happy.
Once I had my dose of three cups of rice and successfully finished my chicken, I asked for my serving of halo-halo which was later given to me.
I was enjoying my dessert when a waitress asked if she could reserve the table I was in so I nodded.
I quickly finished my dessert and checked my bag if my things are complete before leaving my table.
I walked briskly to the exit door and was greeted by the blazing sun.
I immediately opened my umbrella and decided to head to the convenience store to shop for food to fill my stomach until the next day.
I still have lots to arrange in my unit before I can start living smoothly and independently.
I finished my grocery at around two in the afternoon and was able to return to my unit after an hour.
A helpful maintenance personnel assisted me to my unit and was able to gave him my thanks thru a simple tip.
He refused for a minute but I was able to convinced him.
I unloaded my paper bags and placed them inside the freezer and the refrigerator.
As soon as I was done, I glanced at my surroundings and realized I am still halfway done with my things.
Why do I have a feeling that I'll be doing this the whole day?
I suddenly wished I have only a few clothes and things!
I never thought unloading can be this difficult and tiring!
