Chapter Nineteen: "Prepare for Lunch"

Logan got the truck going again, keeping Whitney over his shoulders. Sean took a minute to recover, then got up and wedged himself back into the passenger seat as he said lightly. "You shouldn't have her on you. She's a distraction. You could get into an-" Sean was cut off by a man in a red sports car cutting into their lane without warning. Logan slammed on the brakes to keep from hitting the man's car, only to have the man flick them off. Logan rolled down his window, leaning out to yell loudly. "It's called a turn signal, Jackass!" The man glanced over his shoulder, yelling back smugly. "Bitch to the whore you call mother!" Logan's eyes flashed to his sharp reptilian ones, before stomping on the gas to ram the back of the man's car. The man's car jerked forward, slamming into the truck in front of him. Sean grabbed the dash, yelling out. "What are you doing?! You're going to get us arrested!" Logan didn't answer, he just backed up and pulled around. The man jumped out of his car to yell at them, but Logan just kept driving casually down the highway. Sean shook his head, stating out sternly. "And THAT is called a Hit and Run."

Logan scoffed, growling out. "It wasn't a hit and run... because I'm not running away. I'm casually driving away because he isn't worth my fucking time." Sean sighed, glaring at Logan as he informed him seriously. "Someone will have seen that. Your RV has license plates. They'll track you down and-" Logan gave him a sarcastic look, cutting in to say dryly. "I have the Order trying to track me down already. Besides, they interview that prick and they'll put him on the list to be eaten. Fucking asshole..." Sean shook his head, slumping back in his seat. Logan smirked at him, chuckling out lightly. "Relax." Logan pulled Whitney off his neck to let her slide out across the dash to sunbathe. She stretched across the entire length of the dash, her bright beady blue eyes staring at Sean with curiosity. Logan gestured to her, saying casually. "There. She's off me. Feel better?" Sean narrowed his eyes on Logan, retorting bluntly. "Not even close." Logan shrugged, leaning on the open window as he said. "Well, can't please them all."

Sean straightened up in the seat, asking Logan seriously. "Just tell me that you have a plan and that we aren't just going to ram the gate at NASA?" Logan rolled his eyes, telling him confidently. "I have a plan. We've just got to make a quick lunch break before we get there." Sean rubbed his temples, mumbling out. "How can you think about food right now?" Logan grinned, answering without looking at him. "Trust me. We can't do this on an empty stomach. We need to be calm and think things through." Sean blinked, grumbling out. "Sure..." Logan turned up the music and Sean groaned to himself. This was going to be a long drive. Unable to keep himself awake, Sean had dozed off in the seat, until he heard Logan ask aloud. "Where are you?" Sean slowly opened his eyes thinking he was talking to him. The music was off, and a sweet female voice answered from a mounted phone. "Outside a gas station at exit seventeen. Why? Planning to see me, little runaway?" Logan huffed, grinning out. "Ya. I need a favor." The woman's voice sounded interested as she said excitedly. "Do you now? You know my favors don't come cheap."

Logan inhaled deeply, mumbling out. "Whatever you want, Liz. Just get the stuff ready." Liz hung up and Logan exhaled heavily. Sitting up, Sean asked him gently. "Who's that? Your girlfriend?" Logan scoffed loudly, muttering out casually. "No. Liz is... complicated. You'll see." Logan turned off at the next exit, driving out to a little semi-isolated gas station. Beside the gas station on a little dirt patch was a food truck and little set up tables. Logan pulled up into a parking spot, reluctantly getting up to get out. Sean followed him out, thankful to stretch his legs a bit. Logan waved for him to keep up, moving toward the hot pink truck with bright blue flames painted all along the bottom. Drawing closer to it, Sean read the sign that was on the folded-up siding. 'Sweet Fire Cooking.' Inside a woman that was dressed like Jessica Rabbit was leaning back against the counter. Tilting her head back, her bright red hair fell off her bare shoulder, allowing her to see them approach. Sean slowed a bit. She was stunningly beautiful. Logan cleared his throat, avoiding her eyes as he uttered out at a distance. "Lizzie... Can you... Please?"

Lizzie blinked slowly, showing off her royal purple eyeshadow that matched her elbow length silk gloves. Lizzie pouted her blood red lips, tapping something between her legs. From behind the counter a young man got up, wiping his lips. Lizzie slid a bare leg down the man's side teasingly, purring out in a loving voice. "Give us a few minutes, Sugar." The young man quickly jumped from the truck, racing back to the gas station. Turning over slowly to lean on the counter lavishly, she grinned and softly stated. "Little Logan. The Order came by looking for you. What have you been up too, you naughty boy?" Logan cleared his throat again, still avoiding her eyes as he said hopefully. "I need an ID to get into NASA. And everyone knows you make the best ones." Lizzie's eyes drifted to Sean, giving him a wink as she answered unfazed. "Looking to sneak in with this... human?" For a split second, her emerald eyes flashed to a bright purple reptilian, upon purring out. "How cute. But you know my fee, Logan."

Logan reached into his pocket, pulling out some money and moved closer to hand it to her. Lizzie took it from him, stashing the bills between her barely covered breasts. Her red sequin dress sparkled under the soft purple lights of her truck, when she asked them more professionally. "So, what do you boys want while you wait?" Logan pointed to the little wooden chalk board menu outside the truck, answering. "We'll just have your sweet water and organic special." Lizzie grinned wickedly, purring out. "It's all organic, baby." Logan blushed, turning away to take a seat at one of the tables. Lizzie slowly turned around, her eyes on Sean until she got to work to make the food. Sean moved to Logan's table, trying to be discreet as he asked. "What's with her?" Logan smirked to himself, before taking a minute to simply say. "Hormones." After a bit of smelling something good cooking, Lizzie stepped out of the truck to bring over their food. She set a waffle bowl filled with spaghetti and meatballs in front of Logan. Then set a veggie pie in front Sean, giving him a lusty smile before she slowly walked away. Sean watched her walk away feeling uneasy.

Logan snapped his fingers to draw Sean's attention back, telling him through a chuckle. "Eat. She didn't do anything to it. Trust me. That's not why she likes you." Sean blinked, raising an eyebrow as he mumbled out. "Why does she like me then?" Logan pointed to his eyes, then to Sean's. Sean got it. Lowering his eyes, he began to eat. Bringing over icy blue drinks in clear cups, she set them down in front of them too. This time though, she leaned over the table and swayed her hips a little as she asked Logan. "You know the ID won't work unless you have a valid ID barcode, right?" Logan removed a card from his jacket, handing it to her. She looked it over, then got up to leave. Logan barely looked up from his food as he told Sean lightly. "One of my Dad's old ID's should still work." It didn't take them long to finish eating. Which was around the same time Liz finished the ID. Handing what remained of Logan's dad's ID, she gave Sean a fresh ID. The ID looked genuine. He saw no flaws in it and even the information about him was accurate.

He was going to ask how she knew this stuff about him, only to stop when her leg slid up the side of his. Pushing her leg away gently, he started to get up. She stroked a finger across his chin, purring out playfully. "You can tell a lot about a person from looking them over." Sean swallowed, cringing as her leg rose up his side to his hip. She reached down to pet her own thigh and Sean swore he saw a blue tail hand her something beneath the flowing dress. He flinched as she brought it up to his face, adding with a sweet smile. "Or by looking at their Passport. Sean McLoughlin." Sean took his passport back, then stepped back from her. She giggled at him, causing Logan to interject. "Thank you, Lizzie. We'll be going now." Lizzie pouted but blew a kiss to Sean. Sean shivered, slipping around Logan to keep someone between him and her. Climbing into the RV, Logan watched Sean shiver and chuckled out. "She was just playing with you. She probably can smell Mark on you. She always gets like that when she smells men on men." Dropping into the passenger seat, Sean uttered under his breath. "Oh... She's one of those girls that likes to turn gay men straight?"

Logan burst out laughing, barely able to say bluntly. "What? No! She's a hermaphrodite." Sean shrugged, saying confused. "I don't know what that is..." Logan started the RV, backing out and going back onto the road as he replied. "She's a Reptilian born with a complete set of genitals from both male and female? Remember when I said that some can change their gender? Well, she's one of the rare ones that is both. She's in the middle of her mating cycle. And you... Smell like another male. Nothing gets her going more than smelling a rival." Sean slumped in his seat more. He didn't want to think about it. Instead, he tried to change the subject by asking Logan curiously. "Are we there yet?" Logan kept chuckling but said nicely. "Won't be long now." Sean gestured to the back, getting up to go lay down on the bunk bed. With nothing to do, he just decided to get as much rest as he could. He had a feeling that he wouldn't be getting much before too long. The RV went over a large bump, waking Sean from his light nap. When his eyes opened to see Whitney snuggled against his chest, he yelped and hit his head on the top bunk.

Whitney snuggled closer, her tongue flicking under his ear. Sean whined from how much it tickled, trying to pay attention to Logan. Logan slowed the RV under an unclosed gate, rolling down the window. From outside, a man greeted Logan happily, saying aloud. "Logan! What have you been doing, you scaly dog?!" Logan touched only his fingertips to the other man, chuckling out. "Avoiding the royal guard. What are you doing here, Gordon?" Gordon groaned, grumbling out. "Summer job... Fucking sucks. I just stand here..." Logan pulled out his ID to show him, nicely replying. "Sounds easy enough though." Gordon huffed, scanning the ID as he said coolly. "I guess, that's one way to look at it. Why are you here? Shouldn't you be at Camp?" Logan pointed to the building, answering casually. "Message from my dad came in. You know I won't miss that for the world." Gordon gave him his ID, sweetly telling him. "That's great news. Tell him I said hi." Logan waved to Gordon, then drove on as the gate opened for him.

Sean carefully moved over Whitney to get to the front. Leaning between the seats, he asked Logan curiously. "So, how are we going to get into the NASA building?" Logan gave him a blank look, dryly saying. "You think they keep the rockets indoors?" Logan pointed across a large open field, answering smugly. "We're going straight to the launch pads." Sean tensed, stammering out. "Logan... We... That's not going to be possible! Security will be-" Logan floored it, sending Sean back across the floor before he could finish. Logan raced all the way to an air hanger, yelling out to him in a hurry. "Quick, grab your shit and let's go!" Logan moved so fast to grab Whitney and his backpack before dashing out of the RV. Sean snatched his own bag, jumping from the RV to chase after Logan. From farther across the airfield, police sirens began to blare. Logan pointed to the scanner, telling Sean to scan his ID. Sean ran the card through the reader and the door started to open, before an alarm tried to shut it.

Logan wedged himself into the small opening of the door, trying to shove the large metal door open with all his strength. Straining to push it open, Logan growled out. "GO! Find the Dream Chaser!" Sean snatched up Logan's bag and ran inside the hanger. Inside the hanger were tiny space shuttles. Half of them looked like they were still in demo testing. All expect for a few in the very middle. The little space shuttles were open and looked like small personal planes. The name 'Dream Chaser' was freshly painted on the side of one. Tossing the bags inside it, he climbed up the ladder to get in. The sirens got louder, and Logan released the door to leap inside. Changing into a lizard, Logan dashed rapidly to the shuttle. Swatting the ladder away from the shuttle with his tail, he leapt inside. Slamming the hatch door shut, Logan rushed to the front seat and yelled out back to him. "Quick! Get one of those space suits on! NOW!" Sean saw the compartment for the suit, scrambling to pull it out and slip it on. Sean's heart was going too fast to feel and his anxiety was rising. Logan began flipping switches, turning on the shuttle. Moving to the passenger seat, Sean buckled himself in and asked Logan. "What about you?! Get your suit on!"

Logan flipped one last switch that started up the engine, retorting shortly. "I don't need one. Just hang on." Logan turned the pilot wheel to start slowly turning the shuttle around. Sean shook his head, panic flooding his voice as he asked. "Logan? What are you doing?! The door is the other way!" The shuttle faced the back door to the hanger, before Logan told him confidently. "I rigged the door. When they try to open the other door, they'll be opening this one!" Sean gawked as the back door began to open wide. Logan flipped a few more switches, chuckling out. "Surprised? I told you that I had a plan." The second the hanger door was open enough, the cops came flooding in. Logan floored the engine, causing the shuttle to launch forward and race down the runaway like a plane. Sean screamed as the force of the shuttle shoved him back against the seat. Logan was completely unaffected, his eyes on the road ahead. His hand dropped to a small black lever, telling him reluctantly. "This is where I need you, Sean! Where is the button to raise the landing gear and the button to switch from the engine to thrusters?!"

Sean froze, screaming out. "WHAT?! I DON'T KNOW!" Logan looked at him, growling out in a calm desperation. "GUESS! We're running out of road, Sean!" Sean struggled to lean forward to look. He didn't know what he was looking for. Logan's voice cracked as he snapped out. "Sean! You'll need to press them close together! Hurry up!" Sean found one with a picture of wheels and scanned for the engine one. Something began to beep loudly from the controls, causing Logan to stammer out. "SEAN? Any day now!" Shrugging, Sean hit the wheels button and then a red button with an engine with weird arrows right after. The shuttle rocked as the landing gear was pulled up and the engine shut off. Seconds before the shuttle hit the pavement, Logan shoved the lever forward and the thruster came on to lift the shuttle into the air. Logan took the wheel, gradually pulling it back to steer it into the sky. The moment the shuttle was facing directly up into the sky, Logan punched a button that made the shuttle surge into the sky rapidly. To Be Continued...
