(Y/n) POV
I let out a long yawn as I made my way around the palace. I was so confused because instead of a normal morning next to Zuko... I woke up to an empty room.
I shouldn't worry about it though. He was probably at breakfast or something already, so I decided to try and find him. Or anyone.
I've been walking for at least ten minutes and haven't seen a soul, It was almost like I was alone.
Luckily I'm not confined to a location here, so what's the harm in exploring? I was honestly taken aback when Fire Lord Ozai told me I was free to travel around the palace. I mean, I've never been allowed to do that before!
As I strolled through the halls two large golden doors caught my eye. I stopped dead in my tacks as my eyes became fixated on the gold. I didn't even know I walked over towards the doors, until my hands were on them. I began to push, and after a large creak it eventually opened.
I began to cough as the dust between the door and frame entered my lungs. I ran forward slightly to avoid the dust before I took a large gasp seeing my surroundings. My hands met my mouth as I slowly walked spun around the area, it was an old ballroom.
"Whoa" I grinned scanning the area.
It was like he was almost completely made out of gold. There is a complex abstract design created into the floor, with a mixture of golden and black paint surrounding the area. I looked at the paint seeing it was all four elements on top of each other. Strange... Then the walls were red and filled with Fire Nation flags, decorations and unlit lanterns. The room was very large and looked like you could fit the whole Nation and my ex-tribe inside, with room to spare.
I walked a little farther as I began to see more. The ceiling had a large crystal chandelier that looks like it could hold at least two hundred candles inside. I squinted trying to see the very back, but couldn't. I sighed before holding both of my arms out, and did a quick three-sixty lighting all the candles and lanterns in one quick motion.
I then gasped as the blue light lit up the back, and I saw a pedestal above. I slowly walked over towards the centre and saw four thrones above. Two were larger and for a Lord, while the other two on opposite sides were slightly smaller.
"What is this place?" I asked myself walking up to the thrones.
I couldn't help myself and went to touch the throne, but right as I placed a finger on it, the lights all went out. I jerked my head around ready to fight something, a light came back on in the middle. Being an idiot I walked towards it, with my right palm still set ablaze.
That's when the music started.
[There should be a GIF or video here. Update the app now to see it.]
I jolted back as the tune began. What on heaven and hells earth is my mother's lullaby doing in here?
"Hey! Show yourself!" I shouted out, "You can't trick me! Who are you?!"
There was no response.
I glared trying to re-light the lanterns but they wouldn't. I grunted as the music continued and I tried to cover my ears, but it still entered my head. It was almost like a fog had come over me, because the sound started to plague my mind. And for some reason, all my confusion and fear vanished.
I sighed loosing my tense stance and began to spin around on beat singing along with the tune, like I use to as a little girl.
"Dancing bears, Painted wings, things I almost remember, and a song someone sings. Once upon a December" I smiled thinking back to the happy memories this song held.
I began to spin in a circle as I continued to sing, "Someone holds me safe and warm, horses prance through a silver storm"
I suddenly stopped spinning as I felt a serge of power overcome my hands. I held them close to my chest as I closed my eyes, "Figures dancing gracefully across my memory~" I yelled before releasing my hands and felt a serge on power release itself.
I gasped in excitement opening my eyes, only to see I was no longer in the ballroom... I was in the icy one I made as a kid. I put my hand over my mouth as I looked around. There were people dancing. People were dancing in my ballroom!
I ran up to some of them as they ignored me and continued to dance. I was too fascinated in the moment to realize that they were all made out of my blue fire. As they all sang the course of my mother's lullaby I got a better look at their faces, it was almost like they were spirits.
It was only then did I realize I was in different clothing. I looked down to see a new fiery red gown. I raised a brow before looking to the icy floor seeing my entire ensemble. I had a dark red dress with flowing black sleeves, a giant orange bow around my waist and a matching one in my hair. I then noticed my golden crown tying the entire outfit together.
I would've stared at myself for hours if not someone taped my shoulder. I looked up to see the man I've been fantasizing about since I read about him in my Ba Sing Se history book, Prince Katsuki.
He didn't say a word as he smirked and held out his hand. I looked him up and down saying he would be exactly how I pictured him to, even if he looks like a spirit made a blue fire I didn't care. I grabbed his hand and we began to dance.
"Someone holds me safe and warm," I sung along as we ran into the middle. "Horses prance through a silver storm," he dipped me as we spun in the middle. "Figures dancing gracefully across my memory!"
He picked he up as we spun and I felt all my anger and worries leave me, "Far away, long ago, glowing dim as an ember. Things my heart used to know, things it yearns to remember...." he let me down and began to lead me to the front of the ballroom.
With our hands connect we strolled up slow and I saw the spirits all bowed as we walked. He stopped as we made our way to the pedestals I made years ago for my parents, which were now empty.
I looked to him as he bowed to me. I looked back to the thrown and walked up to it, "And a song someone sings," I took a moment before turning around and taking a seat on my throne. I looked to my people as they all bowed to me, "Once upon a December"
Everything went black.

(Third Person) POV
"(Y/n)? Are you in here-" Zuko stopped himself as he walked into the old ballroom that's been locked since he was little.
He'd been looking for (Y/n) since this morning, she'd been gone all day. He was confused since she got up without him. He didn't even know she was missing till he went to breakfast and didn't see her.
He stopped himself seeing her in the centre of the dirty floor past out, "(Y/n)!" He gasped running to her.
He slid onto the floor, "(Y/n)? (Y/n)?!" He tried to see if she was concuss but gasped seeing her with those bright white eyes again.
"Orchid!" He gasped before getting ready to call the guards, but the moment he touched her she gasped.
(Y/n)'s glow died and she looked to her fiancé, "Zuku?" She raised a brow.
He sighed in relief and squeezed her into a large hug, "Oh thank the Spirits!"
"Whoa, are you alright?" She chuckled.
"We couldn't find you!"
She chuckled, "What do you mean? I couldn't find you," she jokingly shook her head. "I woke up and you weren't in bed and I.... got lost"
He looked at her confused as she shrugged and got to her feet, "You'll never believe what just happened. I-I made people!"
He raised his brow, "Y-you what?"
She chuckled, "N-no! Not like that! I made them out of fire! We were... we were all dancing and singing and-"
"Orchid... are you okay?" He cut her off, as he felt her head.
"I'm fine?" She shrugged grabbing his hand, "Let's get breakfast"
Zuko had enough of whatever episode she was going through and shook his head before grabbing her.
"Hey! Zuko! What are you doing?!" She shouted as he held her bridal style.
"Just like old time, eh?" He tried to ease her anger.
"Uh yeah! Down to the part where yelled about wanting to be let go!" She shouted trying to get out of his grip, "What are you doing?"
He sighed, "(Y/n) we're going back to our room and I'm going to get on of our doctors to check on you" he calmly told her.
"Uh, why? I'm fine!" She squirmed.
"(Y/n) how long do you think you were out for?"
"Like two minutes?" She guessed, "I don't remember falling asleep though. I got in here at like sunrise"
He looked to her and bit his lip, "It's past sundown"
Her eyes widened, "I'm sorry, what?" what in Spirits name just happened.
———
"Zuko. I'm fine" she told him as a doctor was checking her out.
"You were asleep all day and we couldn't find you. I have a reason to be worried"
"He's right Cheif (Y/n)," The doctor looked between the two and sighed, "It's nothing serious... you just have a small fever. Have you been experiencing anything strange since you have gotten here?" She asked.
(Y/n) shook her head, "No I'm fine"
Zuko glared at her, "Don't lie"
"I'm not lying! I'm fine!" She told him.
"No. You've been having constant headaches ever since you got here. You act like you're fine, but that's not normal. A person shouldn't be in pain that much," he walked over towards her. "Why do you have to act this strong? Just.... just let us help you" he sighed.
She looked away, "I just..." she didn't want to admit it, but she didn't want help because she was scared. She'd gone from someone who always helped everyone, to being helpless herself. She hated being helpless.
She sighed as he placed a hand on her scarred face, "Hey.. I just want to help you. Please" he placed his hand on hers.
She looked away and but her lip, before finally looking back to him with a tear streaming down her eye. She didn't want to have help, she knew she needed it... but didn't want it.
(Y/n) sighed before giving a light nod, making Zuko smile. He then held her tight, "Thank you"
She hugged him back before the doctor interrupted, "I don't think it's a very serious illness" she explained.
"Then what is it? The plague?" (Y/n) rolled her eyes.
"No, I believe it's caused by the climate change" she explained.
They raised a brow, "What do you mean?"
"Chief (Y/n).. have you ever stayed in a hot location for a long time?" She asked her.
(Y/n) sighed, "No. I've always been in cold or warm... never hot"
She nodded, "I see..." she then went into her bag and pulled out a couple herbs from her bag.
"What's that for?" Zuko asked.
She began to mix them up before crushing them into a glass of water and handed it to (Y/n), "You see Prince Zuko, Chief (Y/n) grew up in the South Pole. The temperatures are extremely different, even though she's been on the road for a long period it's still very drastic. You've been hallucinating from the temperatures and the lack of sleep mixed with the terrible experience you went through last month isn't helping"
"So why do I have to drink this?" (Y/n) asked.
"The water has a couple special herbs to help you rest. You have a small fever and this should help you sleep it off"
They looked to each other before the doctor got up and bowed, "I'll leave you two alone, but I'll be back in the morning to check up on you. Thank you" she then left.
Zuko then looked to (Y/n) who started at the drink, "You'll be okay"
She gave a light smile before chugging her drink. Almost a full second of consumption she began to feel dizzy. It wasn't long before she slumped over onto Zuko's shoulder, past out completely.
He gave a light smile before moving out of the way and placing her fully in bed. Right as he was about to join her and get some Z's, his eyes trailed to a scroll he received.
He picked it up again and read it, "What does it mean?" He asked himself.
It was just a simple message that almost didn't mean anything,
The Fire Sages keep the secret history in the Dragonbone Catacombs.
He had no idea what it meant.
Zuko then looked back to (Y/n) before back to the scroll. He put it into his large pocket and walked over to her. Kissing her on the forehead and pulling the covers up, before leaving the room.
If only he saw the glow coming from her now opened eyes as he stepped out of the room.
———
(Y/n) opened her eyes and looked around. Where was she?
"(Y/n)..." a voice called to her.
She lightly gasped before turning around to see Fire Lord Sozin staring at her, "F-fire Lord Sozin?" She stuttered.
He gave a large smile and nodded, "Please. Just call me Sozin"
She stepped back, "Why are you here?"
He stepped forward and placed a hand on her shoulder, "I think it's time I tell you everything about our past"
"W-what?"
———
Aang knew it was time to learn the truth as well. He took a long time to meditate, but when he met with his last incarnation Roku, he became confused.
"Come, Aang" he told him.
"Where're we going?" He asked.
"To visit my past," he turned back to him and smiled. "Our shared past"
———
Zuko sat down and began to read a scroll titled, 'The final testimony of Fire Lord Sozin'.
———
(Y/n) POV
Sozin lead me down a hallway lined with thousands of doors. I had no idea what was going on, but I didn't feel scared. I didn't feel calm either, I just felt... blank, if that makes sense. I kind of felt like my body was in the location but my soul just straight up left.. like my sister.
"So where are we going?" I asked looking up to him.
"(Y/n) it's time I give you the full story of our past, instead of bits and pieces"
"What do you mean our past? You've never told me anything!" I ran in front of the older man and stopped him from moving forward.
He shook his head, "No. I have"
"When?" I spat.
"Your dreams you've been having...." he tilted his head like I should've known.
My eyes went wide, "Wait.. what?" He began to walk and I ran after him, "Wait! I need to know what you're trying to explain! Don't walk away from me! Spirits! Don't be like your grandson Iroh and be all misunderstanding!" I scoffed.
He let out a small chuckle, "My fool of a grandson had to learn it from somewhere, (Y/n)"
"Yeah, sure," I rolled my eyes. "Now please tell me where we are going and what is going on!" I demanded as he stopped at the end of the hallway and put his hand on the large door knob.
He ignored me and walked into the room. I clenched my hands into fist, "Hey! I'm talking to you!"
I stomped into the room seeing him sitting on one of two fur chairs placed in the centre. I quickly glanced around seeing the very welcoming room. I felt a calming cold chill run across me as the smell of freshly cooked fish entered my nose. It was only when I saw the ice walls I knew I was in my old house.
"H-how..." I gasped trying to figure out what was going on.
"Please (Y/n), take a seat" he gestured to the other fur chair.
I nodded and sat across from him, "So, I guess you're wondering what's going on?"
"Yes!" I shot back up, "Enough of this!" I spat, "Enough of the lies! Enough of the confusion! Enough! Just tell me what is going on!" I yelled in his face as he just sat there.
He nodded, "I will... please take a seat first" he gestured back to the chair.
I grumbled sitting down as he got up and walked over to me, "W-what are you doing?" I looked up at him.
"(Y/n). It's time you knew what happened all those years ago" he told me before I could get another word in.
He placed his hand on my head and everything went black.
~~~
I stood back my best friends room looking at Roku who was rubbing the back of his neck, "I was just thinking..."
"Yes?" I raised a brow.
"What if... what if others could be reincarnated?" He bit his lip.
I gasped, "What?! Are you crazy?!"
"I was just curious!" He exclaimed, "I mean... I'm able to do that... so what's stopping you?" He asked.
I began to laugh, "What! I'm being serious Sozin, what's stopping you from becoming reincarnated?" He asked me as I stopped.
"Physics, Roku. Physics"
"What does that have to do with anything?!" He flailed his arms.
I gave another chuckle, "Roku. You're the great Avatar, and I'm a Prince. You've been able to live tens of thousands of lives thanks to the spirits, and I'm just... here"
"Well what is we could do something about it?! I mean I am the Avatar! What if I was able to talk to a spirit and get them to help you! Could you imagine it?! The Avatar living millions of live... with the.... the Amica!" He exclaimed proclaimed.
"The Amica?" I raised a brow.
"It means friend"
"Oh... Roku I don't think it's possible" I told him.
"I don't think that! Trust me! I can talk to them!"
"Talk to who?" I asked.
"Once I become a fully realized Avatar I can go to the Spirit world. And then I can convince them to let you join me! We can live forever, together!" He explained.
I looked at him wide eyed, "D-do you really think you can do that?"
"Why not?" He smiled.
So did I, "Heh. I can see it now," I smirked. "The Avatar and The Amica saving the world from evil together!"
Just as I began to feel happy next to my real friend everything went black.
~~~
I woke up back in the fur chair gasping. My head became wild fire, as I clenched it right, "What was that?!" I cried as the pain increased.
"The beginning of your story" he explained.
I looked back up to him and glared, "How on earth is that part of my story?!"
"You're a smart girl, you figure it out" he told me.
Smart girl? How was that supposed to help me? He just showed me one of his memories! It wasn't even a good one! It was just him talking about a fantasy of being reincarnat-ohhhh.... shit
He saw my eyes widened and began to chuckle, "So... you finally figured it out"
"Th-that's impossible," I stuttered. "The only reason the Avatar is able to be reincarnated because they are possessed by the Spirit Raava! Me being a reincarnation of you, goes against everything we've ever learned about Spirits. This isn't a possibility!"
"If it isn't a possibility how is there an Avatar?" He asked making me go silent. He stood up and walked over towards me again. I gasped jolting back. He held out his hand, "(Y/n)... I'd like to show you everything"
I took a moment to look at his hand stretched out for me. I bit my lip thinking about what I should do. Those hands alone cost so much death and destruction. Those hands killed an entire race, Aang's race.
I sighed before giving him my left hand. Even though my right was scarred Beyond repair, my hands were deadly they still killed my brother.
He smiled, "Let's begin"
———
We were transported to a familiar location and I immediately recognized it at the library my siblings and I escaped from.
"What are we doing here?" I turned to Sozin.
"After that conversation I had you experience with my old rival, I would spend countless nights trying to figure out how to make it come to fruition. Roku told me to give up, but I never could" he explained.
I then saw hundreds of soldiers charged into the library. I saw how they began to ravage the location and take out every single book possible.
"Your Highness!" A man I believe was a general due to his slightly toner uniform walked next to a man in full black, "What are your commands?"
"Find any information that could help us in the future battle, Levi" The man in black told the General Levi.
He bowed and his men all went into another direction followed by his men. The man in black began to walk down another hall and Sozin began to follow him. I picked up my feet and joined the two.
The man in black pulled out two books before placing them onto the ground. I walked around slightly to see the two books before gasping as the man's face was revealed from under his cloak.
It was a young Sozin.
"W-what?" I gasped looking up to him.
"After I was crowned Fire Lord I had a... falling out with the Avatar. I needed some information, so I took my most trusted man with me all the way to the Spiritual Library" he explained.
I looked at the books covers as a young Sozin read them. They were the same ones I found on the ground mouths ago. The Most Powerful Bender and The Call of The Spirits.
"Why did you need these books?" I asked him.
"I needed to find a perfect host, I wanted someone strong enough to take over" he explained.
We watched as General Levi came over towards the young Lord, "My Lord.. we found something"
Young Sozin turned his attention to his general, "Yes?"
"We found out some information about a commit. It may be useful"
Young Sozin nodded, "Very well, get all the information you can and meet me outside"
"What about all the information not of use?" He asked the Lord.
Young Sozin ripped a page out of one of the books, "Burn it to the ground" he eerily demanded as he shoved the paper into his pocket before exiting the building, leaving the books behind.
———
The next thing I knew we were back in the palace. I quickly glanced around realizing we were in the ballroom I saw in the morning. I tilted my head seeing a young Sozin making a weird shape on the floor out of black paint.
"What were you doing?" I asked the Sozin next to me.
"The Incantation of Way," he explained as the younger Sozin sat in the centre of the weird design of all four elements put on top of each other in a small circle. "It took me a couple weeks, but I was able to finally perfected and visit the spirit world"
I gasped, "You actually did it?"
He nodded, "Yes I did. I would show you what I saw... but I can't" he sighed.
"Why not?"
"Our world and the Spirit world are very different you cannot combine the two" he exclaimed, and at the time I didn't know he was lying.
"Oh..." I looked away for a second, "So what did you see?"
"I was able to meet a trapped Spirit named Vaatu. He wanted to help me even though he couldn't possess me in his trapped state" he told me.
"So what did he do?" I raised a brow.
"We made a deal," he looked down to me. "I'd help him, he'd help me. After a successful life he'd give me a home until I found a suitable host... and in return my host would help him when the time came," he smirked. "But you don't need to worry about it. It's not your host that I will use to help him. It's not for another seventy something years"
"W-what?" Before I could say anything else everything went black.
———
I opened my eyes again only to scream seeing my old Tribe, "W-w-what are we doing here?!"
He began to walk forward and I felt obliged to follow him, "Well after I passed away, after a fulfilled life. I became a Spirit. Vaatu helped me on the side lines, so I watched from the sidelines" he explained.
"(Y/n) make sure you're carful, I'd hate to see someone get hurt!" I gasped hearing my mom scream.
I turned around seeing a younger version of my mom yelling as a little me ran by chasing my brother, "I won't!" little me yelled.
I my eyes stayed on my mom, "Mom?" I asked teary eyed.
I then saw my father walking next to her chuckling, "Kya stop worrying. Our little Chief can protect herself"
She sighed, "I know. I'm worried for her brother"
"What's going on?" I snapped my head to Sozin, "Why are we here?"
"I've been showing you my backstory... it's time we analyze yours" he explained as little me snickered running after Sokka.
We watched as everything happened again. Younger me felt a shiver down her spine, she rubbed her hands together to create heat before opening her palms to see a small and delicate ball of blue flames between them.
I shook my head as I watched my little self smile at the flame. I was so happy back then, "Why are we here? This isn't a happy day for me" I looked down.
"(Y/n) it's dinner time!" My mom called from the other end of the village.
"Coming!" She laughed running away.
Sozin sighed, "This was the day Vaatu and I learned about you," he said making me look up at him. "This was the day we decided to start watching you, to see if you truly were the Southern Dragon"
I didn't even have time to feel the chill down my spine from that creepy statement as everything went black again.
———
As I opened my eyes I heard a small faint cry making me jolt, "W-where's mom?" I heard my younger self ask as I stood outside of the igloo.
"No," I gasped running in. "Not this day!"
I don't know why I ran in. I think a part of me wanted to grab my younger self and chuck her out the window. Maybe it was guilt. I guess I'll never know why I went into that igloo again.
As I got inside I saw my younger self crawling towards my mom's limp form, "Mommy? Mom wake up," she pushed her. "Mom come on. It's time to wake up. Mom. Mom! Mommy wake up! Wake up! You can't leave me yet! Mommy please! Please don't do this to me! MOM! Please no! MOM! MOM!" We both cried as a serge of light over took my little eyes.
I gasped seeing my blue and orange fire spread around mom and her. It expanded before a completely surround them. She hugged onto her as tight as she could as the fire became larger and larger and larger.
The flames the turned to a dark shade of blue. As I saw father splash cold water on my younger self knocking her out.
I looked away with tear flying everywhere, as Sozin pulled my into a hug coaching me through my tears. After a long time I'm just standing there crying I finally stopped and looked up to him, "What was that for? What was that light?" I cried.
He sighed, "Me"
I wiped away a tear, "How?"
He pulled me closer as I continued to cry, "On that day I took over your body. And we finally started the journey to became one"
"What's that supposed to mean?" I sniffled.
He placed his hand on my chin and made me face him, "It means I took over you"
"W-what?"
"Some call it possession, but I prefer the term soul binding. I live inside of you, as a guest. Then when the time comes, we will merge and become one"
"Like how the Avatar and their spirit are one?"
"Precisely"
"How did you know?" I asked him.
"What?"
"How did you know that I was the Dragon that day? My fire is one thing but what if you were wrong?" I asked.
"I knew way before this" he exclaimed.
"Then when did you?"
He sent a smirk, "I'll show you"
———
I opened my eyes again, as we transported into another room. I looked around and saw we were in my families house, "So are you excited for the full moon tonight?" Katara smiled.
"Yeah! I get to show off a new move I learned!" Sokka flexed his non-existent muscles.
My younger self smiled looking at her food mom made for them.
"What are you excited for (Y/n)?" Katara smiled.
"I-"
"Actually.. I was going to ask (Y/n) if she could help us with something" father asked little me.
She looked to mom who sighed, "Honey.. We need more fish... do you think you could do some more hunting for us tonight?" Mother asked.
I watched as my little self's frown turned into a smile, "Is that what you'd like mommy?"
She nodded, "Please"
My little body got up from the table and grabbed my fishing supplies. I remember I wanted to make her happy so I though I'd go now. My younger self gave her a side hug as I watched mom tense up slightly as my little arms wrapped around her before she nodded to father and left.
I walked with her as she made her way down to the little fishing spot I've grown to despise the sight of.
"Do you recognize that child?" Sozin asked me.
I shook my head, "No. I don't" I sniffled.
"Why not? It's you" He told me.
I wiped away a tear, "No it's not, because... because this was the day that little girl died," I sniffed. "She no longer exists"
I watched as little me's face stayed bright, as she fixed up her fishing poles and net.
I then watched as she began to sing to herself.
[There should be a GIF or video here. Update the app now to see it.]
"Guess by now I oughta know my place," she sighed. "Do your humble duty with a smile on your face," she put on a bright one as she spun around the area. "Mother knows how much I love her but she's always doing other things...." she sighed stopping to look at the festival that just began inside the village. "So I'll keep waiting in the wings"
I walked over towards her before feeling my lip tremble.
"I craved so much..." I clenched my fists, "But I just kept on waiting," I shook my head before looking to Sozin. "I wanted just one glance.. or one touch. So kept on waiting for her love"
I looked back to my younger self who made a fire burning orange. Back then my fire wasn't always blue. It change from blue to orange from time to time. She clenched her legs into her chest watching the festival from a distance.
"And when it came, it came with these... strings" I knelt down in front of my younger self.
She stopped and began to cry losing her fake smile.
"So I kept waiting..." I told him.
The younger me then began to cry as the orange fire began to gleam a familiar blue.
"....in the wings" I then whispered false promises of hope to my younger self. Even though I knew she couldn't hear me. I sat next to her as she disappeared. I clenched my body together as I cried.
"I'm sorry I had to show you that (Y/n)... but there was no other way" Sozin told me as he sat next to me.
I wiped my tears on my sleeve before looking up to him, "Why was this is the day you knew I was the Southern Dragon?"
He placed a hand on my back before explaining, "This was the day you let your anger truly out, and I knew you would be destined for greatness"
I couldn't contain myself and I grabbed him and pulled him close so I had something to cry on. Everything hurts. Everything always hurts me. Why is my past so terrible?
"We've both been waiting for so long, haven't we (Y/n)? You've been waiting for simple love and your rights back... and I've been waiting for you to become what you were meant to be..."
I sniffled, "And what if I'm not ready for it? What if I'm not ready to merge with you yet?"
"I've waited a hundred years, what's a couple months more"
Months?
———
I gasped opening my eyes as I saw Zuko looking at me. He gasped jolting back seeing I was awake, "(Y/n)! Oh Spirits I'm so sorry for waking you up!" He profusely apologized.
I looked at him with my glossy eyes and he immediately knew something was up, "Hey... are you okay?" He came closer.
I shook my head, "Another dream"
"About... him?"
I sighed, "No," I lied. "About my family..." I half told the truth.
"Do you wanna talk about it?"
"Not really.. I just... I don't wanna be alone" I gripped my pillow.
He nodded before sliding into bed with me. I didn't have to say anything as he pulled me closer to him and let me cry in his chest.
"It's okay. I've got you. I've got you," he reassured me. "And I'm never gonna let you go"

(Third Person) POV
Aang told the remaining members of his family the detailed story of Roku and Sozin.
Katara raised a brow, "You mean, after all Roku and Sozin went through together, even after Roku showed him mercy, Sozin betrayed him like that?"
"It's like these people are born bad" Toph grumbled.
Aang shook his head, "No, that's wrong. I don't think that was the point of what Roku showed me at all"
Sokka rolled his eyes, "Then what was the point? Roku shouldn't have trusted him. You can't trust anyone these days"
"Roku was just as much Fire Nation as Sozin was, right? If anything, their story proves anyone's capable of great good and great evil. Everyone, even the Fire Lord and the Fire Nation have to be treated like they're worth giving a chance. And I also think it was about friendships" Aang smiled.
Toph looked down, "Do you really think friendships can last more than one lifetime?"
Aang grabbed her hand, "I don't see why not"
"Well, scientifically speaking, there's no way to prove that..." Sokka trailed off.
Katara sighed, "Oh, Sokka, just hold hands" she said grabbing both his and Toph's hand.
As they looked out to the sunset Katara sighed, "Guys..."
"Yeah?" Sokka asked.
"Do you think... when we get her back... do you think she will forgive me?" Katara asked.
Sokka looked back to the sun amd glared before a tear stained his cheek, "I don't know Katara. It's not up to me to decide"
Aang stood there with his incomplete family. He wanted to give them a moment of silence and clarity, before he had to tell them the bad news.
(Y/n) was dying, because (Y/n) was possessed by the Spirit of Sozin.
•••
(A/n) for people confused! (Y/n) is not a reincarnation, she is a host for Sozin, aka she's being possessed.
