CHAPTER 5
(ONE NIGHT STAND)

The next morning I woke up as my eyes opened my head banged and I felt like death because I had drank a lot last night, which meant one thing I had a hangover. As I looked around me I noticed that I wasn't in my own bedroom but someone else's I didn't remember much from the night before but I did remember going back to Sam's apartment.

but as I looked to my side I realised what had happened last night I had slept with my boss Dr Abrams. As I looked at him I groaned what had I done in any work place it was a bad idea to sleep with your boss but in a hospital it was worse if it ended badly it could lead to the end of my career. So I tried to move slowly and quietly off the bed before reaching down to the ground and grabbing my clothes and getting changed into my clothes before walking out of the bedroom holding my heels in my hands.

Before heading over to the door and walking out of the apartment before closing the door quietly and slowly so that he didn't wake up and realise I had left, I was hoping if I left he wouldn't remember about last night or remember who he had slept with. After heading out the apartment I walked down the street until I found a taxi cab before getting in and heading back to the apartment I shared with Kelly & Leslie. It was early so as I got out of the cab and began to walk to the building I was hoping that the either of them wouldn't be awake.

But as I placed my keys into the door and unlocked it before stepping inside I realised that they were awake and were about to see my walk of shame. As I stepped in they sat there at the kitchen table drinking coffee with a huge grin on there faces which made me glare at them. Because I already felt like crap and I knew there was a snide comment coming my way "Looks like you had a great night" Leslie said before she looked at Kelly and they both started chuckling "ha ha" I said walking past them "so who's the lucky guy" Kelly said as they turned around on there seats.

"Nothing to do with you, just because you two share your sex lives to everyone" i said sarcastically as I walked up the stairs. "Ouch" Leslie said sarcastically as Kelly playfully punched her in the arm as they watched me walk up the stairs. Until I reached my room I walked in closing the door behind me as I groaned thinking to myself, how would I walk into work after what last night, but I had to forget and move on and hopefully Sam wouldn't remember last night and I would be in the clear.

After looking at myself in the mirror and giving myself a pep talk I headed into the bathroom, having a shower before work washing off all of my shame and makeup that had gone all over my face. Before getting changed and placing a clean set of scrubs into my bag along with my lab coat. Before heading downstairs because I needed to get a lift from Kelly to work because I was still drunk which meant I couldn't drive.

"you still wanting a lift?" Kelly asked as he placed a piece of toast into his mouth. "Yeah thanks" I said taking his other piece of toast from his plate and eating it which made a fake sad look appear on his face before I headed through the apartment door and Kelly followed. After getting to Med I went and got changed before heading over to Maggie "morning Dr Severide how was last night?" Maggie said with a grin on her face "fine" I said looking at charts so that I didn't have to say anything "so where am I going?" I said hoping I would be sent somewhere other than Neuro "the usual" Maggie said which annoyed me a little.

"Why so glum" Maggie asked "I thought the whole point of residency was to learn all aspects on medicine I've been on Neuro for weeks" i said rolling my eyes "well when Dr Abrams asks for something he gets what he wants" Maggie said before I took the chart and headed upstairs I was hoping to forget it had happened but being on his service I was less likely to. "Good morning Dr Severide" Dr Abrams said sounding happy as he saw me approach "Dr Abrams" I said trying to keep the conversation short.

Because I was confused why he was acting different usually he hated the interns especially me which meant he remembered the night before as he began to move I stood there frozen because I was still shocked with the situation I was currently in "come on Dr Severide patients are becoming brain dead as we speak" Dr Abrams said sarcastically so I began to follow him. The whole day he was a different person, treating me like a doctor rather than a helpless intern.

So at the end of the day I got changed out of scrubs and head to his office I stood outside for a moment re thinking my decision until the door opened "how can I help you Dr Severide" Dr Abrams asked "can we talk?" I said awkwardly "Sure" Dr Abrams said as he opened the door wider and I stepped inside before he shut the door.

Before he sat down at his desk and I just stood there "why are you suddenly treating me differently" I blurted out before I even had a chance to think which wasn't like me, I was an over thinker "what do you mean" Dr Abrams said as he leant forward "we get drunk and sleep together and suddenly we're the best of friends, I don't want people to think I sleep my way through the attendings to make my career" i said angrily which seemed to shock him.

"That's not what I'm doing, but if it bothers you so much, you are off my service effective immediately" Sam said snapping at me as I stood there with tears in my eyes so I took a look at him then I said "screw you" before I left his office and slammed the door behind me, however as I left the hospital I felt empty and the sound around me was no longer there.
