ᴛʜɪʀᴅ ɪɴᴛᴇʀᴀᴄᴛɪᴏɴ.

The following morning I had made up my mind about the whole soulmate legend thing and I was ready to find more about the topic.

The only thing I wanted to do was to finish my morning duties and go straight to the beach so I could hear his voice again.

My plan was to get as much information about him as I could and then go find him in the crowded part of the beach. Maybe follow his thoughts until finding the person who it belonged to.

I needed to know his name. I needed to put a face to the voice.

But something was stepping in the way that morning, ruining my plan completely.

My father.

"Louis, you have to come with me to the centre today."

"What? Why?"

"You need to do the groceries and supplies of the month. I can drop you on my way to work."

"But that was Lottie's job this month, and it was supposed to happen last Monday. What happened?"

"Your sister needed to get something else done. So now it's your turn. C'mon, I don't want to be late for work."

"My turn is next month!"

"Louis, don't fight me. You're going."

"Why can't Lottie do it today either?"

"Because she has something else to do."

"And I have something else to do too!"

My father stopped on his tracks and sent me a death stare. One of those that only predicts trouble.

I growled and reluctantly agreed.
I'm going.

I guess I wasn't going to make it to the beach today.

I changed my clothes into something more suitable for the centre and I followed him out of the house.
I got in my dad's car and after a thirty minutes drive to the city he dropped me off at the centre, giving me a trolley and the amount of money necessary to buy everything we would need.

I knew my way through the stores. I knew I had to buy first the farm supplies, then straight to the groceries shop to buy all the food, drinks, bathroom and perfumery stuff, and cleaning products.

So, with that in mind I walked to the first shop to buy field and animal's supplies.
I picked everything on the list and paid for them at the register. I placed everything inside my shopping trolley and headed to the other store.

As I was crossing the street, minding my own business, somebody bumped into me from behind and fell on the crosswalk in front of me.

I quickly left my trolley aside and ran to help her.

A brunette woman.

I extended my hand and she took it, standing up. I analyzed her for a second and noticed that she had injured her knee below her skirt against the asphalt.

"Are you okay?" - I asked softly, she simply nodded. - "Was it my fault?"

"No, it's okay. I was on a rush. Completely my fault."

"Okay, let me accompany you so we can get out of the crosswalk."

She sent me a quick smile and I helped her, who was slightly limping, to walk towards the street, pulling my trolley with my free hand.

"That's it." - I smiled once we were safe on the street again. - "Are you sure you are okay?"

"I'm fine. Thanks." - She smiled.

"No problem. Be more careful next time. People here tend to be more relaxed, you know? It's pretty obvious you're not a local."

"Yeah, new girl in town problems I guess." - She said.

"Gemma c'mon the meeting is starting without you!" - I heard a voice coming from somewhere above us.

The woman looked up to a building window and turned to look at me again.

"I'm sorry, got to run. Thanks for helping me." - She smiled and turned to get inside that building.

Styles Hotel.
Those guys are millionaires, they have hotels all around the country. And they are the most prestigious too.

I watched her disappear on the inside and I turned to pick my trolley again, knowing I still had to do the groceries.

Wait. Did they call her Gemma?

Gemma.

And that voice, I knew that voice.
I recognized it.

Oh My Lord.

I didn't waste any second and ran inside the luxurious hotel, trying to spot where she had disappeared. Which floor could it be?

Damn, she was nowhere to be seen.

I ran to the main reception and an old woman smiled at me.

"How can I help you?"

"There's a woman, a brunette woman called Gemma. She came inside a few moments ago to go to some kind of meeting, is there any chance that you could tell me which floor she was heading to?"

"No, I'm sorry. I can't give you that information."

"Mmm, okay. What about telling me if she or maybe her brother are staying here? In this hotel?"

The woman looked up at me as if I had just said the funniest joke of all time.

"I can't tell you that either." - She shook her head, still giggling to herself.

"Can you tell me her brother's name at least?"

"No sir, can't do."

"But you know him."

"Everyone around here knows him." - She smiled.

I frowned at her and resigned.

She wasn't going to give me any information.

I turned around and took my trolley back.
There went my chance to find the guy with the deep voice inside my head.

🌊🌊🌊

The rest of the day, after my dad drove me back to the house, I had to complete the tasks I had missed in the morning, not leaving me a second to breathe.

I watered the harvest field, I cleaned the barns, I did the laundry of the nine people of the family and mowed the lawn around the house.

I got everything done by six-ish.
That's when I returned inside and took a shower, knowing I still had to make dinner for them.

When I finally returned downstairs, Fizzy, who was sprawled on the sofa with the little twins running around her, looked at me and saw that I was more tired than ever.

"And I still have to cook dinner for all of us." - I sighed.

"You want me to take over it?"

"Would you do that for me? I really need a time out today."

"Sure. You'll owe me one."

"Oh, you're the best."

"I know." - She smiled, getting up from the couch. - "Pheebs! Come down and keep an eye on the twins while I make dinner!"

"Coming!" - She screamed from upstairs.

Oh, they're all the bestest.

I gave Fizzy a little hug and went outside to take some fresh air.

The sun was already setting and the night was already showing. Leaving the sky in that beautiful in between.

It was a good time to go to the beach.

I ran to the stables and took Theodore out of his cubicle.
I didn't even put the saddle on, I just jumped on him and let him take me to the shore.

I needed some alone time.
And I needed to get more information.

We made our way through the forest, until we reached the sea shore.
When I got down from Theodore, he immediately left my side and went to splash on the sea.

As for me, I just decided to take my shoes off and lay down on the sand, looking up at the dark sky above me.

The stars were on full display now, not a cloud on sight. The sea was echoing in the back and I sighed to myself.

This place was where I belonged.

That was it.

I finally had the time, peace and tranquility to communicate with the person inside my head.

Hey soulmate, I'm Louis. Do you hear me?

I waited a couple of seconds but I didn't get any response.
I laughed at myself. This was ridiculous.

I don't have a clue of how this mental communication works.

I closed my eyes and tried to focus on him, on connecting to his voice.

I don't actually know if you hear me back, or if it's just me? We're supposed to meet soon. Would you show yourself? Or at least can you tell me who you are? That would make my work easier.

I kinda met your sister today. But you're the one I want to find.

Though I do feel like you complain a lot. And you sound like a completely spoiled guy.

But I want to know you nevertheless.

I opened my eyes again and sat up, hugging my legs and burying my toes in the sand.
I could see the shape of my horse playing with the waves on the horizon, the water crashing on the shore and smoothing my ears.

It was just stupid to try this If I didn't know how it worked.
I needed to talk to someone who knew about this. I needed to talk to no other than my mother.
