I laid on my stomach in my bed clutching my pillow. I didn't like to talk about or mention my mom. In all honesty, I hated that women. There was a knock at my door. "Ty?... Are you okay?..." Mel called from the other side of the door. I sighed and glanced at the door. "Yeah... Just give me a minute." I got up from my bed and walked to the door.
I opened the door and looked at the two girls. "Sorry about that Ty, you know I like messing with you. It's fun." She smiled and hugged me. I couldn't be mad at one of my best friends.
"So Shelly why don't I fix your cut and you can get dressed?" I asked looking at Shelly's elbow. "O-oh okay." She adjusted the towel around her body and I lead her to the kitchen counter. "Here jump up here." I instructed and she hopped up onto the counter.
"It doesn't look too bad.. " I muttered and poured rubbing alcohol on a paper towel then dabbed her arm. She twitched, I guess from the stinging and relaxed after I cleaned it.
"Sorry. The alcohol helps keep infection out of it. I'm almost done though." I tell her as I open a gauze packet and hold it to her elbow while I grabbed medical tape with my other hand.
I wrap around her elbow just enough to keep the gauze on without limiting her movement. "There, all done... Now go get dressed." I instructed and helped her off the counter. She went to the guest bedroom and shut the door. Mel looks at me and smirks. "You're such a good doctor." I smiled and shrugged. "it's what I was trained to do as a lifeguard." i sighed and looked back at Mel. "So you never told me how you found her.... or what you're going to do with her." Mel crosses her arms and gives me a quizzical look. Shit... How was I supposed to tell her that she is a mermaid... cats love fish.... What I mean by that is Melody is a Werecat. "um hello? Earth to Ty?..." the girl in question was waving her hand in front of my face. "Well um.... first of all, i went to work to clean the beach up after the storm and i heard a noise and well she was naked..." Melody's eyes widened and she ran a hand through her hair. "Thats odd... do you think she could be an alien or a trespasser?" she asked with seriousness in her tone. "Even if she is a trespasser,  I am sure she wouldn't do any harm... Especially how she was acting afraid of everything on lan...." Shit I said too much... "like a siren?... bird creature?" she quizzed me and thought about shelly. "well not exactly... i know her type... but i do not know how you will react when i tell you.... " i looked over to the bedroom door where shelly was. "how bad can it be? you are a smelly mutt. There can't be anything worse than a werewolf." she punched my arm lightly and i sighed. "You're an asshole mel... but i swear you better control yourself around her... shes a mermaid." i finally spit the words out and mel's jaw dropped. "no wonder she is so hot. iv'e only heard about her kind in legends but i thought it was just an old wise tale. Mermaids are said to have extreme beauty and an amazing singing voice." Melody kept bantering on and on about mermaids until i heard the door creak open. My hand immediately flew to cover Mel's mouth as Shelly walked out. Shelly ran a hand through her hair to try and take her wild blond locks. "Need a brush?" Mel asked and Shelly looked at her confused. Mel smiled and reached into her backpack and pulled out a black brush. "Come here let me help." She said with a motion of her hand. Shelly nodded and walked over to Mel. Melody turned her around to face me as she began to brush her hair. "Shelly, do you mind telling us where you are from?" She asked while brushing her hair. "I'm from .. ...an ..... island in the ocean... Probably never heard of it. " the blonde said nervously. "Ohhh okay then. Hey Ty, when do you have to return to the beach?" Mel questions me and my eyes widen. "Shit I forgot about that! My boss is going to kill me! I should go!!! " I grabbed my keys from the counter but then stopped when I seen Shelly. Shit... I thought to myself...
