Chapter 1: Awakening

24 days 3 hours and 6 minutes left
Alissia woke up about 11 the next day after being picked up from the airport to find herself in a large bed in a white room. The light was streaming through the windows and on to the sun-kissed sheets. Alissia got up and looked in the closet and dresser drawers, noticing her stuff already there and ready for her, she took note in her head to thank Toby later for it. The room was completing white, her bed was a queen sized with purple sheets, and a white comforter decorated with a violet pattern that matched the pillows that lay at the top. Her dresser was a light brown color and had fancy metal knobs that had a pattern that she couldn't quite figure out how it all came together.
Her closet was white but walk in with shoe caddies lining the walls on the floor, metal bars ran around the closet several times over, they were lined with her clothes sorted by color just how she liked it. She glanced at the clock on her wrist and sat down on her bed zoning out as thoughts and emotions ran through her brain and body like electric shocks. Her mind raced with the idea of her soulmate. Who would they be? The biggest question was always that. It's as everyone knew who they were before she did. Even Toby knew, even though she didn't know how, he did. She shook her head coming back to reality as she stepped back over to her closet to pick something to wear.
She grabbed a red top that had lace on the shoulders, looking around she grabbed a pair of red shorts and black leggings. After pulling them on she sighed and began digging around in her many, many pairs of shoes. "Now where are they?" She said aloud talking to herself, it's as if though the shoes answered because she spotted them. She grabbed the red ankle boots pulling them on. Sighing she made her way over to the mirror in her attached her bathroom.
Her bathroom was a baby blue and duck stickers where in random places along the wall, she loved ducks they were cute, and fluffy. She shook her head as she sighed, she shouldn't be thinking about ducks while trying to find her hairbrush. She looked at the sink it was white and glassy like porcelain. There was a shower and bathtub over to the far side of the bathroom and a closed off toilet area. The shower curtain had ducks on it and she sighed, she could be childish sometimes. Duck curtains, duck designs, she looked down and rubbed her temples... duck rugs, she even had duck pajamas.
Alissia picked up her hairbrush which she found on the corner of the sink and began brushing her hair. It was matted and tangled like a dogs that had just rolled around in the grass. She felt like a dog trying to brush her hair out. It was usually long and straight brown, she hardly ever could get it to curl, and it always ended up getting greasy a few days after washing it, "I hate my hair." She said to herself. After some ripping and tearing down with her brush she managed to pull half of it out of her head, but it wasn't tangled anymore.
She set it down then headed downstairs into her living room which was also white. Her couch was leather and white and more of a loveseat. There was a coffee table that sat in front of it that had some coaster holders but there was nothing special about it. There was a table in the living room behind the couch that seemed to substitute for a desk, and it was organized between her paperwork, and Toby's paperwork. There was only 2 chairs at it but there wouldn't be a need for more. Alissia looked out the big front window to her left that allowed her to view her front yard which was covered in a thick blanket of snow. The curtains were red but if you looked closely you could see gold lines running up and down along them.
Alissia sighed and turned towards the arch way at her right and entered her kitchen. The kitchen was also white with white tiled floor. The right of the kitchen was mainly a big empty space, to the left though there was a row of cabinets that where a dark brown glossy wood. Under them was a plain metal sink, black stove, and drawers and other cabinets. Over at the left end of the cabinets was a refrigerator that was white. If you looked straight ahead you could see a set of glass doors revealing the small back yard that was also blanketed in snow. In the middle of the kitchen there was a ordinary brown wood table with 4 basic chairs, the only thing that made it look anything but ordinary was the man sitting at it.
Toby was Alissa's Lengenar he was 24 according to what he told Alissia when he picked her up from the airport that came from the biggest city in the world, known as Carmenta. Toby had dark brown hair that hung in his eyes slightly, there was some blonde highlights in it natural. His eyes were bronze with little firework-like golden specks that scattered all over them. The first thought that crossed her mind was 'typical cute boy, I've seen a million just like him.' This wasn't totally true, she didn't care to admit it to herself but something about his eyes screamed danger. The darkness that casted within them was like looking at fire burning in eyes of vengeance. They were evil if you truly thought about it and really looked deeply at them, but if you didn't you could possibly mistake them for eyes of an angel.
"You made breakfast." Alissia said brushing a random strand of hair out of her eye that fell in it. Alissia was an independent person, she liked doing things for herself. She didn't want a man to take care of her but she was stuck with him upon request of her parents wanting her to have a Lengenar. She wished she could argue but she could hardly remember anything about them, all she knew was they existed.
"Yes...are you mad? Do you not like waffles?" Toby asked though there was a slight hint of uncaring in his tone.
"No, I love waffles." She paused as she debated how to put this to him, "I just like doing things for myself, maybe we could swap back and forth on making food." She suggested wanting to be fair and Toby shrugged.
"Sure you make lunch today and I'll make dinner, you can make breakfast and dinner tomorrow, and we can continue it like that. Sound good?" He asked not looking at the girl who he didn't imagine was going to be so pretty.
"Fine with me." She sat down and began eating her breakfast as she noticed Toby didn't have a shirt on, in fact he had abs that stuck out and she made a disgusted face. She wasn't one for shirtless men showing off their weirdly shaped meat. Alissia was glad Toby wasn't her soulmate he wasn't appealing to her.
Alissia's thoughts strayed while she was eating as she stared out the glass door across the room. "Toby can we get a puppy?" She blurted out all of a sudden and Toby looked at her blankly.
"I guess, but why?" He said in a tone of complete shock, he wasn't exactly hoping to be talking about animals at 11 in the morning.
"Well I want to adopt one of the rescue ones. One that deserves a good home and needs a better life." In there world animals were seen as protectors. Sometimes the thoughts would come randomly as if a strange energy told you what animal you wanted, and what was meant for you. Alissia had suddenly felt a rush and tingle fly through her veins then the word 'Puppy' just popped into her brain. The animals could understand english, they were purely connected to their owners. They could since danger and protect when need be.
"Well I suppose I'll go get food and supplies and you can go pick one out." He said getting up and piling dishes into the sink. Alissia was already up and across the room grabbing her black fuzzy coat off the coat rack standing next to the front door.
"Fine with me, see you later." She left out the door and headed in the direction of the pet adoption center for rescue animals. It was a 20 minute walk according to the map on her phone, it was a good thing she liked walking as she headed there.

20 minutes later Alissia puffed out a breath of cold air as she walked pulled on the glass door but it wouldn't open. She paused and read the handle and sighed as she contemplated her intelligence before pushing open the door, the little bell that was tied to the top banged against it and jingled.
Alissia saw an an old frail-looking lady with purple glasses, her grayish hair was pulled back in a tight bun and she wore a plaid green sweater, flowery skirt, and little black heels. Alissia thought she was insane for pulling on a push door, she was clearly very normal compared to this woman.
"Um I was hoping to adopt a puppy." The woman nodded not saying anything as she lead her down a hall and opened a door. Behind this door there was a smaller room with a desk and a security guard. If you looked to the left you could see a sign labeled DOG in bold and it had a little plake under it that looked like a dog. Straight ahead there was a cat one that looked the same except the dog symbols and words where replaced with cat ones.
Alissia followed the woman into the dog room and there was 3 big cages. They lined the right, left, and back side of the wall. There was several dogs in them looking sad lonely until they saw the girl standing in front of them. A rush of excitement hit them and they began barking happily and jumping up and down. Alissia began walking around looking at everyone of them. She made it to the back cage and looked in a dark corner. There was a golden retriever puppy looking sad and lonely. It looked at her and she felt a jolt hit her as she grabbed the cage for support. It's eyes shimmered in pure gold, it called to her, it begged for her. It was a power escalating through her veins and sent shivers through her.
"What's that one's name?" Alissia asked wanting to know if it already had one. The old woman walked over glancing at the puppy.
"Her name is Layla, are you going to take her? I would appreciate it, she's such a mutt and never does anything she's told. She hides in that corner and cries half the night, it's so annoying." The woman grumbled and Alissia clenched her fist together to avoid biting this woman's head off.
"Yes I will be happy to take her." Alissia said and a few moments later after the woman spoke to the guard Alissia found herself with Layla in her arms and standing outside of the rescue center. The woman had just given her the dog telling her she was too happy to get rid of her to make her pay, she added no refunds. Alissia sighed as she made her way home figuring Toby would soon be there if not already.

Toby wasn't home though Toby had got everything and left it in the backseat of his black ferrari as he parked at the curb of a black house. He climbed out and walked up to the door and pulled out a key unlocking the door and entering.
"Skylar?" He called out and a shorter dirty blonde haired girl with eyes that reminded you of an overcast sky.
"What?" She said in an annoyed sort of bitchy tone that told you she didn't want to deal with people today.
"Who pissed in your cornflakes?" Toby said annoyed by this girls tone, though he wasn't surprised it was her natural personality.
"Oh shut the fuck up and tell me what you want." She said looking at the cup of water in her hand and threw it at him drenching him in water.
Toby sighed and he thought he had issues, "How's your side going, mine's going great so far." Toby told her and Skylar rolled her eyes.
"We'll get there."
