Chapter Thirty-Eight, Pettigrew Escapes

Chapter Thirty-Eight, Pettigrew Escapes

It was the last day of their holiday when as they were all sitting down for breakfast; bad news was delivered to them via Madam Bones the Department Head of the Magical Law Enforcement interrupting and ruining their sunny morning with more tombs for exploration.
"Amelia, what can we do for you?" Sirius asked confused, standing from the table as society demanded as he was Lord Black and Izzy's father and Proxy for House Potter.
"I have some bad news, I'm afraid." Madam Bones informed them, her tone apologetic and full of shame.

"What is it?" Arthur asked his friend, concerned. Looking around cautiously at the gathered children, particularly Izzy, Madam Bones spoke in a tight tone full of anger, before Molly could send the children away; they needed to hear this and not from the newspaper.
"Children -"

"No Molly." Madam Bones interrupted quickly. "It's better they - that all of you - hear this from me and not from the emergency edition of the Daily Prophet." Sighing she gathered what confidence she could knowing this news wasn't going to be received well, not that she could blame them. "Due to the Minister's continued incompetence, between late last night and the early hours of this morning, Peter Pettigrew escaped from Azkaban." Before anyone could say anything the cutlery on the table started shaking and a wind picked up swirling around them as Izzy's eyes glowed a luminescent green; far brighter than the Killing Curse. Realising his daughter was losing control of her magic due to her fear and anger, Sirius quickly jumped up from his seat scooping Izzy into his arms and sat in her seat with her in his lap, stroking her hair soothingly.

"Shh. Shh, shhh, Izzy. It's okay, everything is going to be okay." Sirius reassured, smiling in gratitude at Fred who had joined in on trying to calm Izzy down as her magic reaped havoc on the breakfast hall of the hotel. "How?!" Sirius growled demandingly. "He was in a cell with wards to stop his transformation."
"His cell was flooded during a storm so he was moved while it was sorted out and the ward stone fixed. The Minister didn't see it necessary - despite my and the entire Wizengamot's protests - to add newer protections to this cell as he wouldn't be in it long." Madam Bones answered furiously.
"That is besides the point!!!" The Weasley men shouted, including Ron, the twins and Percy. Their furious voices mixed in with their elder brothers and father's.

"I want charges pressed, Amelia." Sirius said in a deadly calm voice. His tightly contained magic begged to be released but it was taking every effort on his, as well as Fred's and George's part to calm Izzy and her powerful raging magic down.
"Understood, and I figured as much and started on the paperwork already. I promise you, we will exhaust every measure possible to not only catch him but protect you all from him." Madam Bones swore, her magic holding her promise.
"Very well." Sirius nodded his head, with that, Amelia reached into her robes and took a Portkey back to the British Ministry. "I hope you don't mind, Arthur, Molly but I think it's best if Izzy and I head back early and see if we can get an earlier appointment with Healer Fawley." Sirius apologised, rubbing Izzy's back comfortingly.

"No, of course, Sirius." Arthur and Molly said, waving away his apologies. "I think we will head back as well. So Ginny can get in one more appointment before Hogwarts, as her re-enrolment all depends on these sessions."
"She's doing well," Arthur assured, offering Ginny a reassuring smile, "but one more can't hurt."
"Do you want to stay with us at Potter Manor?" Sirius offered, writing out a Gringotts cheque for all of their stay and sending it to the manager with a wave of his hand.
"You're too kind Sirius, but - -" Molly started.
"Mum, it's a good idea." Bill interrupted. "You know Izzy lives with us and it gives me and my teammates time to properly set up some wards on our home, and the property has to be empty for them to settle. You know that Izzy is only going to Potter manor as she wants to talk to her parents and grandparents portraits more before they all return to Hogwarts." He reminded her.

Molly conceded and nodded her head in thanks to Sirius, before sending the children upstairs to pack, while Sirius and Arthur organised an early Portkey home, she sent off two letters; one to both of Izzy and Ginny's Healers.

***

In the security of Potter Manor in the family room, watched over by two large full bodied portraits that hung above the grand fireplace, Izzy sat in one plush dove grey armchair before the fire with Healer Fawley, who sat in the chair opposite her, a notepad and quill on the armchair as it recorded their session so Mind Healer Felicia Fawley - or Felicia as she told Izzy to call her - was able to give Izzy her full attention; that she so rightly deserved.

In the family dinning room, Ginny was having a similar conversation with her own Mind Healer Suzanna Cutkoskey, both the family dinning room and the family room doors' were swathed in silencing and Impervious charms so no one could listen in. Not that they think anyone would, it was just to offer security to their clients much like their offices would at St Mungo's.
"Now, Izzy, how are you feeling over what happened last year and not just last term?" Felicia asked kindly, trying to keep the concern out of her voice and remain impartial but it was difficult as this young girl has been through too much and she's only been in the Wizarding world for two nearly three years. Izzy sat in silence for several minutes, thinking over what had happened for the entirety of the year.

She thought about all that she had felt during the year, ever since Mrs Norris turned up petrified; the hurt, the raging anger that just seemed to build with her legendary temper, the sadness, the humiliation, the confusion, and the bone chilling fear.

"I'm scared to go back." Izzy whispered, looking down at her hands in her lap as she fiddled with her fingers, out of the corner of her eye she spotted her father and grandfather clenching their fists in anger but refrained from saying anything not wishing to interrupt her session.
"Why is that?" Felicia asked sadly, noting each hesitance and the tension held within her tightly strung body. Looking down at the file in her lap that had a diagram of Izzy's body showcasing the scars that marred her. The multiple lacerations to her back ranging from her shoulders to her hips and often criss-crossing over each other, the new words carved into her right forearm, and the large circular scar on her inner right elbow from the Basilisk fang. And hadn't that been a shock to her system that such a creature had lived under Hogwarts for over a thousand years!

That Myrtle Warren had been killed by such a creature (her family - and Myrtle herself- now having the closure they so desperately needed), multiple students being petrified by it, and Izzy being bitten by it; a fang that had even chipped the bone a little due to its length as it had nearly pierced right through her arm; if it hadn't been for the School Phoenix and Madam Pomfrey the Potter line would now be over and lost forever.
"I'm sick of everyone worshipping the ground I walk on, and the first instance I don't live up to their taxingly high and never ending expectations I'm vilified by the entire school - minus my friends and a few students who didn't participate, but they also didn't help either - despite all the professors cracking down hard on bullying." Izzy's soft voice pulled Felicia from her thoughts as she paid close attention once more.

"I don't necessarily blame Ginny but she also shouldn't have stolen the diary back from Dad - Sirius —-"
"You can call Sirius your Dad, baby." James interrupted softly.
"James!!" Lily, Mia and even Monty chastised him for interrupting but he ignored them, this was important that his Bambi knew this.
"He is your father too, he Blood-Adopted you the day you were born. I won't be angry, jealous or upset. All I care about is my Bambi having someone there for her when I can't be in person." James insisted softly but his tone held a note of finality.
"Thanks Daddy." Izzy replied emotionally, her eyes filling with tears but she smiled widely and sadly at her first father.
"Sorry." James apologised to Felicia. "It was important to me that she knew that." He insisted.

"There's nothing to apologise over." Felicia assured him, a soft smile on her lips. "I understand that was her fear." She confirmed after a nod from Izzy to say she could tell them; it was the only reason the magic oath allowed her to speak. "Please continue when you're ready, Izzy." She smiled softly at the thirteen year old. Izzy nodded her head taking a deep, calming breath (as she'd been instructed to do in their first session nearly a year ago now), as she gathered her thoughts. For the next hour, Izzy spoke about the last year and all the torment she'd suffered and how it made her feel, easing a tight knot inside of her chest, causing her to slump back against the armchair; Dobby appearing with a hot chocolate and a chocolate frog for his Miss.

"I think that's enough for today." Felicia decided. "We'll have another session the first Saturday morning at 10 0'clock, after term starts, you can then tell me all about your new classes." A bright smile appeared on Izzy's lips as she became excited for all her new classes. They were actually going to Diagon Alley for their supplies that afternoon and she couldn't wait to read her new books.
"Okay. Thank you Felicia. I can't wait to read all my new books!" Izzy proclaimed excitedly, getting a tender smile from her loved ones and her Healer.
"At Yule, you can tell us all about your new classes and maybe invite your new friends over, sweetheart." Lily suggested, eager to spend more time with her daughter and know everything about her.

"I'd love that Mum!" Izzy agreed happily, getting up from the armchair to see Felicia out only for Sirius to open the doors surprising and startling her slightly.
"Sorry pup." Sirius apologised. "You stay there and eat your chocolate and drink your drink, I'll see Healer Felicia out. We'll head to Diagon Alley after lunch. Thank you Healer." Sirius said gratefully, leading her to the main hall where she could either Floo back to the Hospital or home, Ginny's Healer had already left. She'd agreed that Ginny could go back to Hogwarts but wanted to continue the sessions until at least Samhain to make sure she wasn't suffering any negative side effects like flashbacks.

"No trouble at all, Lord Black." Felicia returned, with a wave to Izzy and a respectful nod to the paintings the Healer followed Sirius to the fireplace connected to the Floo Network and Floo'd to the Hospital.
"Mimsy, Toliver, Dobby." Sirius called once the emerald flames had disappeared, in the next second three pops were heard as the three house-elves appeared either bowing or curtsying to their Mistress's Lord Father.
"Lord Black asks for us?" Mimsy asked, straightening from her curtsy.
"Yes, could you please put together something special for lunch. We all - especially Izzy... and Ginny - need a pick-me-up after the last few days." Sirius requested politely, pausing before he said Ginny's name.

She may have been duped but he hadn't fully forgiven her yet as she had nearly killed his daughter and that wasn't something he could so easily forgive. He knew Fred, Ron, and Neville were the same towards the young girl, Fred showing his displeasure in sporadic icy glares; not that Sirius could blame him. He would've been the same if he was in Fred's position and felt his soulmate dying.
"Of course Master Dogfather!" Dobby squealed enthusiastically, answering for the three of them as he bowed and popped away, the other two following his lead as Sirius laughed uproariously at the delightful and funny little elf. He could only imagine the trouble he'd given his cousin and old Lucy with his mischievous and cheeky ways before the horrible man took his displeasure out on him, however, he was glad to see Dobby relaxing and being more like himself.

***

After relaxing for most of the day, and after lunchtime the Weasleys, Izzy, Sirius, and Remus were heading to the Diagon Alley accompanied by Andromeda and her daughter Nymphadora - but don't call her that, call her Tonks or Dora. They were Izzy and Sirius's new family members as Sirius had reinstated them into the House of Black and disowned Andromeda and Narcissa's eldest sister, Bellatrix Lestrange or rather Bellatrix No-Name, who was currently sat in Azkaban for torturing Neville's parents.

"Ooooh, little cousin!!! It's so great to finally meet you!!!" Tonks crowed delighted, sweeping Izzy up into her arms, the moment she had tripped her way out of the Floo after her mother. "Finally another Metamorphmagus in the family! Actually no, you'll be my little sister!!"
"Nymp -" Andromeda chastises, but stops as she hears Izzy's delighted giggle.

"I never had a big sister before or even a cousin that was nice to me." Izzy whispered reverently, slowly relaxing in her enthusiastic cousin's arms after flinching slightly at the sudden contact.
"Well, get used to it little sister, as you have me now!" Tonks proclaimed firmly, finally setting her little sister on her feet. "Which means not only is it my duty as your older sister to take you to all the Weird Sisters concerts, but it's my duty as protective older sister to interrogate your soulmate." She proclaimed passionately, a glint in her eyes as she locked eyes with Fred.
"What not a hello to your best friend, Dora?" Charlie asked in mock hurt.
"Sorry and hello Charles but I have important big sister duties to take care of, I'm sure you understand." Tonks teased, before turning her sights on Fred once more.

"Nymphadora!" Andromeda warned, her voice like steel.
"Fine. Fine." Tonks sighs, waving her hand. "You get a pass, for now only, Frederick. But, when we come home from the Alley we will be having a little chat!" Nymphadora warned, eyebrows raised until Fred nodded. "Good. Now, little sister let me see what you need for this year." Tonks asked, holding her hand out for the parchment, while everyone started Flooing to The Leaky Cauldron. "Hmm, you're going to need a compartment trunk for this year, we can have your initials transferred from the old one to the new one which transfers the magics and protections over, then we can sell it to the second hand shop.

As you're thirteen now, and have recovered - with the help of potions - you'll need some new clothes and robes for a young Heiress. Oh, I know I'm not dressed like one," Tonks laughed at Izzy and Ron's quirked eyebrows. "But I've had a strict warning from Mum to make sure you get all the things you'll need as your THE Heiress of House Potter, Peverell and Black, while I'm just a scion of House Black and just came back from the Auror Academy, which explains my clothes. Anyway, I begged her to let me take you wanting to get to know my cousin and sister and that's the warning she gave, and trust me she's scary when angry." Tonks shuddered, then looked down at the list once more while pocketing the shrunken trunk Dobby just handed her. "Man, I wish I took some of these classes." Tonks sighed wistfully.
"What's the Auror Academy like?" Ron asked eagerly.

"I'm thinking of an Auror, Izzy and Luna want to be Magizologists and knowing Izzy she'll do something with Ancient Runes too as she's read nearly every book in the library on the subject." Ron teased his little sister who blushed and nudged him.
"As everyone is waiting for us to get the shopping done, how about I fill you in later?" Tonks suggested. "But what about your other friends? And with Izzy's course list I wouldn't be surprised but I would be extremely proud." She praised, smiling when the young girl beamed at her.
"Neville wants to become a Master of Herbology, Kellah a Healer and Celeste is interested in improving Magical Relations with other countries. Hermione keeps changing her mind, personally, I think she's not taking some of the Holidays well." Izzy added with a roll of her eyes. "Blaise and Daphne are interested in Ancient Runes too and Draco in Arithmancy."

"I'm glad you have such great friends, little sister, and if anyone is able to turn our cousin around I know it's you." Tonks praised pride and conviction in her voice making Izzy blush scarlet as her hair changed pink. "I can also teach you control if you'd like?" She offered as Ron used the Floo.
"Really?" Izzy asked excitedly, squealing happily when Tonks nodded. "Thank you, thank you, thank you." She chanted. "I'd love that!"
"Then that's what we'll do." Tonks promised, happily. "Go on, I'll be right behind you." She gestures towards the Floo. As Izzy disappeared in the emerald flames, Tonks glanced down at the parchment still clutched in her hands, quickly adding what else they needed to the list so they didn't forget but she knew one thing for certain; Isadora Talia Potter-Black will bring amazing changes to the Wizarding World.
