Chapter Ten, Mirror of Erised
Izzy sighed as she tossed and turned in her bed unable to sleep. She sighed once again before she gave up and decided she would use her Dad's Cloak and check out the Restricted Section. She knew the book she'd read before wasn't there as she's never been in there before, but as she couldn't find it, she guessed it wouldn't hurt to try. You never know: she may even find the book on Nicholas Flamel that they needed. Throwing back her warm duvet, she got up shivering slightly, and slipped her feet into her fluffy panda slippers before she slipped her grey fluffy dressing gown over the top of her Disney Princess pyjamas. Once the sash was tied she headed to her trunk where she had placed her Cloak and slipped it over her shoulders and over her head vanishing from sight, just before she left her dorm she grabbed a lantern so she could easily search the large shelves in the library.
Isadora made it to the library in no time. Thankful that she hadn't run into anyone on her way here, she paused to light the lantern before unlocking the door to the Restricted Section at the back of the library and started searching the shelves.
"Where are you? I know I've read it before but surely you're here too." Isadora muttered to herself, as she took her Cloak off and set it on a nearby table, along with the lantern so she could lift the heavy book off the shelf titled, 'Fifteenth Century Wizards'. However, as she opened the book to the first page a face appeared in the page letting out a blood curdling scream, making Izzy jump out of her skin as she let out a little scream of her own. Her heart beating a mile a minute as her hair tinted grey from the slight scare. Her heart barely had a chance to calm down when she heard Mr Filch's voice.
"Who's there?" His gruff voice sounded from the other side of the library.
Izzy quickly put the book back and pulled her Cloak off the table causing the lantern to fall off the table with a loud smash as the candle went out.
"Come on, show yourself! You can't hide!" Mr Filch ordered, as he entered the Restricted Section completely missing Izzy as she walked past him with the Cloak on and ran out of the library. Only to run into Mrs Norris, who sat outside the library and could obviously smell her, as she started to come towards her meowing. Thinking quickly Izzy took off down the corridor, trying to lose Mr Filch so she could make her way back to Gryffindor Tower. But tonight didn't seem to be her night. For she not only had Mr Filch and Mrs Norris behind her but Professor Snape and Professor Quirrell, in front of her arguing. Izzy looked around her quickly, trying to find somewhere to hide until the coast was clear; for any minute now Mr Filch was going to appear and run into her. When she suddenly spotted a door just behind the two arguing Professors.
Wasting no time she covered her mouth to muffle her breathing Izzy edged carefully around the two Professors and backed up to the door keeping them and Mr Filch in her line of sight. Once the three had taken off; Izzy quietly opened the door a crack and slipped through into an old dusty classroom. Only there was something out of place within the dusty room. In the middle of the classroom stood a large, gold gilded mirror that was completely clear of any dust. She took off the Cloak placing it gently on to a table nearest to her and walked closer to the mirror, when she spotted the inscription around the edge of the mirror: 'erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi'.
Izzy tilted her head as she thought over the meaning before it hit her.
"I show not your face but your heart's desire." Isadora muttered, as she crept closer to the mirror; only to jump back with a gasp when two people appeared besides her.
To her left there was a woman who looked exactly like her: with a heart shaped face, almond shaped emerald green eyes, and long wavy hair, but the only difference was she had natural blood red hair instead of her hair changing due to an ability like Izzy. Looking to her right was a black-haired, hazel eyed, bespectacled man who had her hair colouring (but his hair stuck up all over the place), and she had his nose except hers was a smaller button version. Both of them were smiling happily down at Izzy. It was then, with a heart wrenching, painful sadness that she realised who they were.
"Mummy? Daddy?" Izzy asked tearfully. Her mother and father's smiles widened as they nodded their heads. They each reached out a hand and placed it gently on their daughter's shoulders, all the while, smiling lovingly down at her for the first time in ten years. Shakily with tears running down her cheeks Izzy reached up to touch her shoulders but she couldn't feel or see her parents' hands and looked back at the mirror desperately, a hand touching the mirror as her parents smiled sadly at her. As a thought crossed Izzy's mind: 'I wish I was with them.'

"Ron! Ron, get up! Please get up!" Izzy begged as she shook her best friend's, her brother's shoulder.
"Izzy? What's wrong?" Ron asked groggily until he noticed the tears on her cheeks and immediately became wide awake. "Why have you been crying? Are you okay?" He asked, concerned.
"Get up. Please get up, I have to show you something. Now come on!" Izzy urged desperately, ignoring his question as she longed to get back to the mirror. Back to her parents.
"Okay." Ron agreed, slipping out of his warm bed and into his slippers and Weasley jumper. Once they had left Gryffindor Tower and don the Invisibility Cloak, Izzy led the way back to the classroom that held the mirror.
"Where are we going, Izzy?" Ron asked curiously.
"I found a mirror that shows me my parents. Come, look!" Izzy said as she opened the door and ran out from under the Cloak. "I'm back Mummy, Daddy. I brought my best friend too. His name's Ron Weasley." Izzy said in one breath, once she was standing in front of the mirror, one hand placed upon it; while Ron watched on sadly. The Cloak held carefully in his arms as he knew this was all she had of her Dad's. "Ron, come stand here that's-"
"Oh wow!" Ron said, cutting Izzy off. "That's me! I'm...bloody hell I'm the Quidditch Captain." He stared amazed for a moment before he pulled his eyes away from the sight shaking his head. "I'm sorry Izzy." Ron said sadly, wrapping an arm around her shoulders as he moved aside so she could see her parents. That was more important to him than some Cup anyway.

The next morning the Weasleys knew something was wrong with Izzy but they didn't know what. But Ron did; and he was regretting staying so late in front of that mirror. He didn't care about what he saw, he was worried about Izzy. Since they got up this morning she hasn't spoken, or eaten her breakfast or taken any of her Potions. And on top of that her hair was a dull, lifeless grey colour and her eyes were equally as dull, which worried them all greatly. As she was just staring into the fire behind the Gryffindor table tears shining in her eyes.
"What happened?" Fred asked Ron harshly, when he couldn't get a response out of Izzy.
"She found a mirror last night that let her see her parents." Ron explained, glaring at Fred.
"What?" Percy asked aghast. "Those are extremely dangerous, Ron! Tell me you didn't look into it, too?"
"I did but only for a second and besides, I only saw myself as Quidditch Captain with the Quidditch Cup then I let Izzy see her parents again. You didn't see her, it was like she wanted to join them in the mirror and was talking to them." Ron explained sadly.
"Izzy, why don't you try a bit of toast? You need to take your Potions." George suggested.
"No." Izzy replied sadly.
"Why don't we go and visit Hagrid?" Ron asked.
"No, you go." Izzy replied, still not taking her eyes off of the fire.
"Or how about we go for a walk again, Izzy." Fred suggested, only to sigh sadly when he got the same reply as Ron.
"Izzy, I know you want to go back there but it's dangerous." Percy explained gently. "Just come with us to Hagrid's. Even just to cuddle with Fang or Hedwig."
But Izzy just shook her head. The four Weasleys sighed and looked up at the Head Table to see some of the teachers watching them concerned. If this carried on they would have to involve Professor McGonagall, but they had to wonder why such a mirror was in the school in the first place.

It carried on for days. Izzy was extremely quiet during the day and at night she was found sitting in front of the mirror for hours on end or disappearing during the day and spending most of the day there until they came to take her away from it. By the third day, two days after they found out, Percy had informed Professor McGonagall on what was happening and she promised she would deal with it straight away and headed to where he said the mirror was. As she walked the halls she cursed Albus for taking the mirror out from under the trap door and had to wonder what the hell he was planning. Pushing open the already ajar door she found Albus talking to Isadora who looked sick and extremely drawn. She shot a glare at her old friend and headed towards her little lion. Not even sparing a glance towards the mirror.
"I don't know what you're playing at Albus but it stops. Now!" Professor McGonagall snapped. "Now, put this mirror back where it came from tonight and leave my school!" She ordered.
"Come now, Isadora, let's get you to the Hospital Wing." Professor McGonagall said softly, placing her arm around the young girl's too thin shoulders. Leading her away from the mirror even as her eyes trailed back to it.
"Am I in trouble Professor?" Isadora asked quietly.
"No Miss Potter, but I must ask that this wandering around at night stops. It's dangerous with the moving stairs." Professor McGonagall replied.
"I just wanted to see my Mum and Dad." Isadora said sadly, tears pouring down her cheeks.
"I know. Shh. Shh. How about instead I tell you stories about them and your grandparents. Your grandmother Euphemia Potter was my best friend in school." Professor McGonagall soothed.
"Really Professor?" Isadora asked the slightest bit of shine returning to her dull emerald eyes.
"Of course. For the rest of the holidays we can meet once a day in my office after lunch and when term resumes I shall let you know." The Professor replied as she pushed open the doors to the Hospital Wing catching the attention of Madam Pomfrey and Professor Snape.
"Minerva, what's happened?" Madam Pomfrey asked as she hurried over. Completely forgetting about the Potions Severus was delivering.
"Lack of food, water and her Potions thanks to Albus and his Mirror of Erised." Professor McGonagall explained tersely to the pair. Madam Pomfrey tutted muttering curse words under her breath as she quickly summoned everything she needed.
"Set her on the bed, Minerva. Izzy, what did you see? And how long have you been going back there?" Madam Pomfrey asked gently.
"I saw my Mum and Dad. It's the first time I've ever seen them. I don't have pictures of them, and I found the mirror on Christmas Day night." Isadora explained softly, holding her Dad's Cloak close to her chest and missing the looks the three adults sent each other.
"Lie back and drink these Miss Potter, you'll be here for the rest of the night and then we'll see how you are in the morning." Madam Pomfrey said gently, handing her one Potion after another. She chose not to lecture the poor girl as that was the last thing she needed after what she's seen.
"I need to inform Molly, Arthur, Augusta and Madam Bones." Professor McGonagall said wearily, already knowing how that was going to go. "I'll see you in the morning, Poppy. Severus." She whispered, as Isadora was already drifting off to sleep thanks to the Dreamless Sleep Potion.
"I'll make some more." Professor Snape said briskly, before he hurried out of the infirmary unable to look at Lily's daughter after what he found out. He knew she would be turning in her grave for how he's treated Isadora. She was just so much like her mother that he couldn't stand it and to find out how Petunia had treated her after all the lies Dumbledore had told him. He didn't know what to think. What he did know was: whatever Dumbledore was planning couldn't be anything good.
