Chapter Fifty-Three, Dementor Horde
Chapter Fifty-Three, Dementor Horde
Previously on The Soulbond of a Peverell:
"It's okay Ron." Neville reassured his friend. "We're nearly there. Just rest here for now." He gestured to a large tree root that Ron could perch on to let the pain go off for a moment before they made their way up to the Castle.
"The Willow?" Ron protested, gingerly perching on the root while looking up at the tree as if it would start beating them all for getting too close.
"It's been paralysed with the Immobulus Curse." Sirius explained, passing Ron his wand back. The wand Pettigrew had was in Remus' pocket, but that didn't stop Pettigrew from trying to fight against Remus' grip on his coat.
"Are you okay, baby?" Sirius asked as Izzy had been rather quiet. As she went to answer, the Full Moon suddenly peaked out from behind the clouds.
"DAD!!" Izzy said, alarmed, pointing to the Moon which also attracted Remus's attention to it.
"Remus! Remus, have you taken your potion tonight?" Sirius asked, alarmed as guttural screams tore from his husband, his pupils were blown wide, and he was shaking. "You know the man you truly are, Remus! This heart is where you truly live! Here! Our cub is here! Think Remus! Remember our cub!" Neville and Draco got Ron up between them, shaking while Izzy noticed Pettigrew dive for her Papa's dropped wand.
"Expelliarmus!" Izzy shouted, but she was too late. Pettigrew had transformed and was making his escape.
"No, Izzy." Luna protested, pulling her back when she went to run after the traitor.
"RUN! RUN!!!" Sirius shouted fearfully as Remus fully transformed, throwing him away from him.
"Go. Go." Izzy whispered to her friends while Moony was distracted whining from the pain of the transformation, who shook their heads refusing to leave without her. "Papa? Moony? It's me. Izzy...your cub." Izzy said softly, slowly approaching him but when he threw his head back taking a deep sniff of the air as he howled at the moon she jumped back afraid. "Go." She whispered pleadingly to her friends while she slowly backed away as Moony approached them growling.
"No!" her friends all protested.
"Nice doggy. Nice doggy." Ron pleaded as Moony raised his large paw with his claws extended preparing to swipe at Izzy when Sirius in his Animagus form barrelled into him causing Izzy to fall backwards in shock. Acting quickly, Luna helped her to her feet, pulling her back towards the boys where they all stood there huddled together terrified. As a means to distract Moony Sirius as Padfoot bit his paw trying to pull the werewolf back away from the scared teenagers, away from their daughter. But Moony didn't take kindly to that as he attacked Padfoot, swiping and biting (sometimes with locked jaw) at Padfoot, and even throwing him into a rock. Not able to stand there doing nothing while her Dad is whimpering in pain, Izzy ran forwards ignoring her friends calling after her and picked up a rock and threw it with all her might at her wolfed-out Papa.
As he came barrelling towards her, Izzy remembered what she had learned in class and howled like a wolf which made Moony slow down his run and lower his claws. He stood there assessing Izzy for a moment, so she used it to her advantage.
"Hi Moony. I really hope you remember me as I'm your cub. Isadora Potter-Black or Izzy. I love you so much Papa and I want you to know that no matter what happens tonight that will never ever change, I promise." Izzy promised before she ended her ramble with another howl. She really hoped this worked, as Moony just stood there assessing her. Just when she was about to give up hope on it working Moony lowered to all four paws...took in a deep breath as he crept closer, taking in Izzy's scent...then he started whining as he looked pitifully at Izzy.
"It's okay Papa. It's okay." Izzy reassured him with a soft smile, letting out a deep breath of relief. Moony whined once more before he ran off into the forest in the opposite direction of the lake that was directly down the hill from them.
"Well done, Izzy." Luna praised from behind her before arms wrapped around her in a big hug. "The boys have gone up to the Castle as Ron needs his leg checked out and gone for help."
"Thanks Moon." Izzy smiled, hugging her friend once more until they heard whining. Looking over to the direction it was coming from they saw Padfoot fall into the bushes and when he rose once again an injured Sirius took his place before he fell down the hill. "DAD!!" Izzy shouted fearfully, running after him with Luna following her.
When they caught up to him, he had collapsed beside the lake bleeding from multiple wounds.
"Dad! No. Dad!" Izzy shouted; only to pause when she saw vapour come from her mouth and for the Black Lake to start freezing over. "Luna go!" Izzy ordered, trying to blink back the darkness as that NIGHT started to play in her mind. Luna shook her head as she tried to stem Sirius's bleeding, as her Dad came round for a moment, only to gasp in horror; over a hundred Dementors were starting to swarm around them.

Chapter Fifty-Three, Dementor Horde
Jumping to her feet with fear and determination to protect her Dad and sister. Izzy whipped out her wand, and with all her Papa taught her coursing her mind, as she tried to push back the Tsunami of her worst memory, she pointed it at the Dementor Horde consisting of over a hundred Dementors.
"Expecto Patro-" she was cut off with a scream as a Dementor broke off from the horde above them, loomed over Izzy with a deep rattling breath causing her to drop beside her Dad with a scream.
"NO! NO! No, no, no." Izzy panted, trying to get her shaky limbs to cooperate with her; with a huge effort she pushed herself to her feet, hearing her Dad and Luna scream as a Dementor loomed over them gave her the strength to get up. She wouldn't give up. She couldn't give up. Luna and her Dad were counting on her; but there were so many. Maybe she could hold them off at least until Draco, Neville and Ron got to the castle and managed to find a Professor and tell them what was happening. That they needed help. No she could do it. Her Papa had been teaching her for a reason after all. She had to do it.
'Come on, Izzy.' She thought as she pushed herself to her feet once again after the Dementors swarmed her and made her collapse again. She could feel her consciousness wanning, but she couldn't afford to give up. To allow that NIGHT to flood her mind, Luna's life and soul was counting on her, her Dad's life and soul was counting on her, and her own life and soul was counting on her being able to complete the Charm fully instead of shrouded mist.
Hearing a thump behind her, Izzy knew Luna had passed out and so had her Dad.
'Come on, Izzy. You need to do this. You can do this.' Izzy thought, blinking heavily, she took a deep breath as she thought of all the ways the Weasleys had been there for her, everything they had done for her, her holiday with her Dad, Luna and Xeno in Egypt looking for Magical Creatures before they joined the Weasleys, all the laughter she's had with her friends, her Papa and Dad, and the Quidditch team. Talks with her parents and grandparents' portraits, and the stories her Dad and Papa told her.
With the montage of happy memories surging through her brain she was able to push her darkest memory from her mind for a moment as she took a deep breath, wand pointed up at the swirling Dementors who were ready to make the three of them their delicious meal with all of their darkest and painful memory, but Izzy wouldn't allow that to happen.
"EXPECTO PATRONUM!!!" Izzy roared, not wavering as all of her happy memories gave her the strength. Bright blue-white light surged from her wand in the shape of a stag as it drove away all of the Dementors in a tidal wave of bright blue-white light that drove them back causing the ice to disappear from the Black Lake and warmth to return to the late spring air. As the last of the Dementors fled, the light slowly faded away back into Izzy's wand, Luna and Sirius took a deep breath as their bodies recovered from the Dementors before passing out once more.
But they weren't the only ones to pass out as Izzy collapsed to her knees beyond fatigued from the trauma the Dementors had stirred up and the strength of the spell she just cast that normally only wixens with a mature magical core could produce, but never with such a strength as she just cast.
"Thanks Daddy." Izzy whispered tiredly, noticing that her Patronus was in fact a stag, just like her Daddy James. It was Prongs protecting his little fawn. Izzy didn't know if it were just her tired brain conjuring them up, but she could have sworn she heard Fred's, Neville's and Andromeda's voices calling out for her as she passed out beside Luna and her Dad. The three of them create a triangle shape on the ground.

When Neville, Ron and Draco finally reached the viaduct bridge that would lead them back to the castle they saw mist come from their noses with their pants causing them to freeze as if someone had cast the same Charm Remus had cast on the Willow. Looking up at the sky they saw hundreds of Dementors heading in the direction of the Black Lake. The same direction Izzy and Luna had headed in after Sirius.
"IZZY! LUNA!" The trio gasped alarmed, sharing fearful eyes with each other as they wondered how they would help their friends as none of them knew the spell to protect themselves.
And if they left Ron and ran to the castle to get help, there is a chance that they could be too late to help their friends and Sirius.
"RON! NEVILLE!"
"DRACO!"
The three let out deep relieved breaths as they spotted Fred running towards them with Professors Andromeda Tonks and Narcissa Malfoy.
"MOTHER!!" Draco shouted. "AUNTIE!! HURRY!! The Dementors are after Izzy, Luna and Cousin Sirius."
"WHAT!!!" Fred roared; eyes wide in fear. "WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED!!"
"There's no time for that, Fred!" Ron waved his brother off. "COME ON!!!" He turned to head back towards the Lake only to yelp as his leg gave out beneath him, thankfully Neville and Draco still had hold of him, so he didn't fall to the ground.
"He's right." Andromeda said, looking at the sheer number of Dementors heading in that direction. "Cissa, can you take Mr Weasley to the Hospital Wing to get his leg checked out with Draco and let Minerva know. It's time these things were removed from the school." Narcissa nodded, promising to send Minerva to her, and cast the Ferrula Charm to bind Ron's leg better before heading to the school with her son and Ron.
"This is the third time they've attacked Izzy. Madam Bones needs to overrule Fudge." Narcissa added with a sneer of disgust as she hurried towards the castle with the two boys.
"I'll head to the Lake and help her; I know Remus has been teaching her the Patronus Charm." Andromeda called after her sister who nodded, signalling she heard her as she helped Ron hurry across the bridge. Andromeda cast a glance towards the sky with a deep concerned frown, letting out a deep reluctant sigh as she turned towards the two remaining boys.
"Mr Longbottom and Mr Weasley, you two can come as I will need you both to levitate the girls back while I levitate Sirius. But you are to stay back until I tell you, do you understand?" She asked firmly.
"Yes Professor." Fred and Neville agreed. Without another word the three took off running towards the Lake.
As they breached the trees at the top of the hilly bank they could see an injured and passed out Sirius at the Lake's edge, a passed-out Luna and then there was Izzy. They could see she was struggling against the might of the Dementors and the memory they were obviously bringing forwards as she was shaking like a leaf and couldn't seem to hear them when they each called out to her.
"Stay back until I tell you." Andromeda ordered them once more as she made her procession down the hill when suddenly the area was lit up in bright blue-white light, so bright they had to shield their eyes. Spinning on her heel, Andromeda saw that Izzy had done it. She had cast a corporeal Patronus that was so powerful it was driving off over a hundred Dementors and was lighting up the area so brightly in its warm embrace.
As the light started to dim the three of them noticed that the creature that took the form of her Patronus was a stag.
"James." Andromeda whispered so quietly that Neville and Fred could have sworn they had misheard as the stag stared straight at them before it vanished. However, the second it did Izzy collapsed as if she was a marionette who had its strings cut causing the three to rush over to them. Andromeda wasn't even mad that they hadn't listened as there was no danger left to them as the Charm had been so powerful it had driven all the Dementors from the grounds. The second she reached them; Andromeda was waving her wand over the three of them in complicated motions assessing their health and whether the Dementors had kissed them.
They hadn't, they were okay.
"They're okay." Andromeda reassured the two worried boys. "They're just suffering from severe Dementor Exposure and need to get to the Hospital Wing immediately. Sirius is okay, the injuries just look worse than they actually are. Thankfully, he was in his Animagus form." She muttered the last part to herself as she created three stretchers floating in mid-air beside her, the two boys helping levitate the girls on to their own stretchers. "Listen to me boys," Andromeda said seriously. This past year she had taken her role as Head of Gryffindor seriously and had chats with all of her students regularly to determine whether they were okay not only physically but also mentally and emotionally, so she knew when one of her students was upset.
"Listen to me, they are going to be okay. They are not injured physically, but after a run-in with Pettigrew, using Ron as bait to lure Izzy out for what I dread to think, but that doesn't matter right now. What matters is being there for them as the Dementors would have pulled up memories that both Luna and Izzy wouldn't want to relive and that would leave a mark. You will also need to be there for Ron in the coming months as he is likely to blame himself."
"We promise." Neville and Fred agreed, nodding decisively as they followed their Head of Gryffindor back up to the castle where they were met with Headmistress McGonagall and Hagrid who hugged the two boys tightly, sniffing slightly.
When he pulled back the two boys were handed a Chocolate Frog each by a very worried Headmistress. The procession back up to the castle was silent as each of them were stuck in their own minds with both worry for the trio on the stretchers, anger towards the Ministry and worry for what Remus would do once he had regained his senses once the sun rises tomorrow. There were some things they needed clarifying on what had happened tonight but that could wait for tomorrow as all of the kids had an ordeal and needed sleep. They knew, however, that this would not be the last time they saw Peter Pettigrew.

Author's note: DO NOT ask me to update in any way shape or form. There are other ways of telling me what you thought of this. Anyone who does will get one warning before they are blocked. Also, things are starting to speed up which means there is one more chapter left of Izzy's third year before we are on to Goblet of Fire.
