Welp...here we go again. The Open Novella Contest is here and it's my second year with my second short story based within the NR universe so yes. It will be canon.

Unlike last year, I have a little bit more world building done on Nocturus (where I base this story) this time so hopefully things will go smoother. It won't. I know it won't.

Knowing me and the wonderful illness that is Kraken I'll end up posting 20 mins before the deadline. Which is better than my last record of 10 mins before.

Word of advice, don't get sick for two weeks and then have to write 5 chapters in 3 days. It's doable but stressful. I still have no idea how I got shortlisted but hey, I have something to aim for this year.

So, with all that said.

Welcome to The Soul Thief.

This is both a stand alone story and a spin off for the Night Rider. There are characters and storylines that will overlap and may be continued but for the most part it should stand as it's own story.

The characters of Swift and Cloud make a brief cameo in Book 1 but this version will explore past events and will (hopefully) continue on into Book 2. If you like them then feel free to check out everything else NR related. It is literally the only thing I write.

With that I hope you enjoy. And I hope it ends up under 40k words. :L
