Chapter 5: The Covention
I am SO SORRY that I kept you all in the dark and never made another chapter. Life takes me a toll and so many procrastinations and full of ideas of would've and should've(s) that I took. Now that I know how Owl House ended. This doesn't mean for me to write some episodic chapters for season 3 that could've been in the canon. I still stick to where I am right now. So, this story isn't going anywhere.
Also note:
I decided to call it Halfa for now on. No more naming it Halfie. I guess it rolls off the tongue a little. So, theres that.
Though I could find and give a few things to try develop some of my OC's in this fanfic. Who knows what I'll unfold. All you and I can know for now on is to enjoy the chapter!

[9 Years Earlier]
Azure grunts from the injuries he was given by insulters from his elementary school. His foster father, Samm, tried his best to make up for the people who bullied Azure and apologized to them with symphony and fear in his face. Azure looks away from his father, who is currently driving to home visit the Nocedas family. Samm was also aware of their father's passing and made sure they paid a visit every week to make sure they were okay after Manny Noceda passed away.
"Do we have to visit them again..." Azure grunts from holding his left arm.
"Little dragon! Their father passed away a few weeks ago and yet here you are getting a bad attitude from school and towards me. This is serious. Have some respect. You need to lighten up a little bit. Honestly, I don't know what am I going to do with you if this keeps up."
"Then leave me by the orphanage!"
"The reason why I have raised you is to live a life with no harm around you. And here I keep seeing from you is becoming problematic. I really shouldn't leave you with Sensei Valarie every week."
"All I needed from her was to fight for myself!"
"And yet you let your emotions get the better of you and start bruiting those little brats just because you're born different!"
"You want me to quit fighting?! Is that all you want from me? I can't let those bullies make fun of me!"
"I'm not asking you to quit. Besides, you don't just go randomly thrash people all from an insult. Believe me, I had an experience like that before I met Uncle Manny."
Azure huffs before looking out the window, watching each tree passing them. Samm didn't want to bear and watching his adopted kid get beaten up each day makes him more pissed and concerned for his safety. He worries that when Azure grows older, he'll become the worst version of Samm Gunnar, a criminal.
"Why do you even adopt me?" Azure asked curiously. "You could've picked Maxine or Nathaniel and just adopted one of them. . . And yet you picked me out of all the 'ordinary' humans with interesting personalities. Why, Samm?"
Samm, while driving, thinks about Azure's question before stopping at the stop light. "Because, little dragon. You're like me." Azure is confused before turning his head to his foster father on what he means by that. "I see that look in your eyes that sort of sparked in me that I should pick that kid and try my hardest to raise that kid a better man than I ever was. We all live in an unforgiving world with political issues, hate, social media hate, and ruining the next generation. All I wanted to do was make a better world with no issues resolved. No one wants to be a wannabe thug in their life. All we've ever done was to repeat the cycle. I want to break the cycle and end the madness. I picked you to be the prophecy, the cause, the reason why you stopped the hate and saved the world- no- the universe. You might forget why I even say this to you, but I want you to remember that we fight when it's necessary. Do not beat up villains just because they do bad stuff to you. You must stand your ground and be noble. That's all I want from you. Do you understand, little dragon?"
Azure can't describe what his father said. He begins to think about the 'be noble' line before he nods as he understands his words.
Samm smiled, "You're not a bad kid, little dragon. You just did a bad thing. What matters is you're okay." He pats Azure's head as he messes the hair to his annoyance.
"Stop that!"
"Hehe." Samm looks ahead to see his house next to Noceda's house. "Alright, we're here. Better look good in front of your girlfriend, little dragon." Samm smirks as Azure blushes.
"I-I I'm not her girlfriend!"
"You keep saying that. I can tell that you've grown close to her. She knows that as well."
"Y-Y-You don't know that."
"Then what was all the roleplay with Goodwitch Azura and the Great Sorcerer Dillion crossover?"
"That's between me and Luz only!!!" Azure cheeks glow redder than before.
"'Oh Great Sorcerer Dillion will protect The Goodwitch Azura from the Evil Tyrant for all the good and evil!' I'm sure I heard that right."
Azure hides his head under his shirt as he screams and flails around his seat in embarrassment.
"Part of the reason why I like about you, little dragon." Samm sighed in laughter.

The Sorcerer of the Boiling Isles
[Chapter 5 : Convention]
—————————————
[Present]
It was time to sell human junk to witches and demons from Eda's Human Collection stand. Eda dusting the table, Luz tells a story of Azura The Goodwitch to King, and Azure places the used foam weapons inside the tent. He wipes off the sweat from his forehead.
"Emboldened by the dishonor Hecate had shown, Azura lifted her staff to the cotton-candy skies and shouted, "I challenge you to a Witch's Duel!" Luz narrates. "And look! I drew a flipbook." She flips between the pages of her drawings. "Pew pew pew!"
"Show me the picture," King said, peeking over on top of the book.
"What?"
"Show me the picture!" Luz turned the book to show the canine demon the page. "Hah! I can draw better than that. You know, they once called me the 'King of Artists'."
"Are you making that up just because you want to be more important than being 'King of Demons'?" Azure raised his eyebrow.
"Doesn't matter. What's important is that my followers would leave me offerings in fear of me!"
Azure rolled his eyes, "Right... 'fear of you.'"
"We can offer you more of this tantalizing book." Luz offers.
Eda groans with annoyance, "Ugh! Please stop reading that. Its flowery language is an insult to witches and driving away all our serious customers!" She swats lightly the two with a feather duster. She was never a fan of 'Azura the Goodwitch' books.
"Oh, speaking of customers," Azure said, gesturing the streets. It was empty and quiet. They were the only ones here that were open. "What customers? We've been here for a few hours, and there's isn't a single stand or customer."
Luz nods in agreement. "Yeah. What's going on here?"
"This is a bad omen," Eda said with a more serious tone. "There must be something horrible happening today."
"Luz! Azure!" Someone shouted. Luz and Azure turned as they were surprised to see Gus and Willow running to them.
"Sup, Gus! Sup, Willow!" Azure greeted.
"Gus! Willow! Hey!" Luz greeted her new friends in the Boiling Isles.
"Something amazing is happening today!" Gus said with excitement.
Azure wonders what they're excited about. "What is it?"
"It's the annual covention." Willow unrolls the flier and holds it up to show her new friends. "Student witches get to see all the types of covens before they're placed in one. There's even a mystery guest this year!" She points to the bottom of the flier that shows the title, 'mystery guest' with a silhouette figure and a question mark.
"That sounds like joining a club for witches," Azure said.
"Or more like a job fair for witches! Eda, can we go?" Luz asked their mentor with excitement.
"Absolutely not!" Eda quickly said. Causing Luz to groan and slide onto the ground. Azure held up Luz.
"Oh, come on, Eda. Why not?" Azure said.
"I never joined a coven for a reason. Sure it's like a fun club for witches, but you're also giving up your magical independence to be part of the crooked system." Eda said as she slammed her fist on the table.
"They're still here, Y'know," Azure said, pointing out his thumb at Willow and Gus.
"Eh, but, you know, no judgment. In any case, I haven't been to one since we were kids." Eda said, looking away.
"'We'"? Azure and Luz both said after she popped back up with interest. "Who's 'we'?"
"I- the- I mean-" Eda tries to come up with a response, but Luz points her finger at Eda.
"You have a mysterious past! Now we have to go!"
"No!"
Azure and Luz frowned. Then they looked at each other with mischievous smiles, thinking of the same idea. Azure turned to Eda, "Okay, Eda. I think you left us no choice. King, would you do the honors?"
Luz gives King her Azura and the Dark One book.
"Don't you dare do it!" Eda glared.
"Ahem! "You shall not shan't doeth no more harm," Azura callethed out. "..." King continues reading as Eda could only stare into nothingness in horror. She couldn't stand to hear such flowery words is put into the book.
"So flowery, so awful." Eda tries to walk away, but King follows her.
Eda tries to get away from an awful novel for tweens or preteens. One solution was in her mind as she took out the transdimensional door and tosses it as it unfold into the human world. She walks through, but only for Luz to carry King.
"-Hecate could only screech, screech as did she, for the screeching did worseneth." King continues. Luz then tosses him through the portal as it closes.
"Wait for it..." Azure said before counting down with his fingers.
The door opens as Eda comes back through with King on her head, still reading the book. "Stop it! Stop it! I will do anything to stop this!" She begged.
"Anything?" Azure smirked.
"Yes! Anything!"
"Will you come with us to the covention?"
"Yes! Okay! Fine! I'll come! Whatever! Please! Just please make it stop!"
————————
Now, the gang standing in front of the building is the Covention. The kids are excited, but for Eda, she groans and pinches the bridge of her nose.
"If we're going in there, then would you three help me with this." Eda tried to put on her cowl, but her hair made it difficult. Azure and Luz did their best by pushing her hair into the cowl. King got onto her head to get her cowl over her head. "Gotta keep a low profile." She grunted.
"Is the cowl necessary?" Luz grunted, shoving Eda's gray hair.
"Do you think all my wanted posters are for petty theft?" Eda asked as numerous stolen items fell out of her hair.
"Does that answer your question?" Azure deadpans at her.
"Well, partly. But the big whammy is that I disobeyed the law and refused to join a coven." Eda gathers the items and stuffs them back in her cowl. "If I'm seen, I could go to jail. Again."
"No wonder why you're on the run?" Azure asked.
"Maybe this informative event will inspire you to join a coven," Willow said, showing the wanted posters of Eda.
Eda was annoyed and made a spell circle. The spell made Willow's hood over her face as Azure helped Willow get the hood off.
Eda groans, "Let's get this over with." She's acting as if she was a moody teenager who doesn't want to be there. The gang walked towards the door.
They entered the building. Azure and Luz were shocked to see how huge this convention was. A few creatures in different species walked around, and a few witches, flying on their brooms. On the ceiling, there were nine tapestries. Each represents the main covens. There were also different booths all over the place.
"Woah..." Luz was awed with wide eyes. "Was I even alive before now?"
"I've never been to a convention as something as this before," Azure said before looking at the tapestries of nine different symbols. "What are those up there?" He asked.
"Those are the main nine covens, but there are hundreds of other ones you can join," Gus told the human and the Halfa.
As they continued to walk, Willow listed a few covens to join in, "There's Flower Coven, Artist Coven, Big Dog Coven, Small Cat Coven, Tiniest Cat Coven—" She was interrupted by Eda's groan of annoyance.
"Is there the Grumpy Coven?" Azure whispers.
"Yes, there is the Grumpy Coven," Willow whispered.
"What was that!?" Eda glared at them, raising her fist, but the kids and King ran off.
The bald wizard walks by Eda, "Excuse me, ma'am. But have I seen you before? You do look rather familiar." The man looks between Eda and the wanted poster on the pillar.
"Uhh, Nope! No, you don't!" Eda threw something on the ground to create some sort of distraction. "Distraction spell!" They looked down at the floor. It was a snack bag of trail mix (Hex Mix). But nothing happened.
Eda runs away anyway. She returns when the man bends down to pick the Hex Mix. She punches him in the crotch as he squealed and fell to his knees before she scoops up her trail mix bag and runs off. Eda catches up to the kids.
-------
The kids continued to walk and glanced at the stands. Luz stopped and pointed at something. "Ooh, what's that?"
Pointing to the muscular wizard with a hard hat. Behind him were two stacks of wood and bricks. Near the wizard was a familiar face with a big nose.
"That's the Construction Coven," Willow said. They watched as a man lifts two stacks and threw them in the air. Azure came in front of Luz just in case wood or bricks falls down to them. When the building came down, it became assembled into a fully functional house.
"Holy crap." Azure said in awe.
"It's one of the main nine covens. They use power glyphs to increase their strength." Willow explains as the man takes off his hard hat. He reveals a small stack of power glyphs on his head. The logo is a brown-colored fist with a thunderbolt on it.
The man peels one slide of the glyph and slaps it on the conspiracy theorist's nose. Her pupils shrunk before suddenly screaming. The aura surrounding Tiny Nose had a massive amount of energy surging around her body.
The wizard nods at first. Before Tiny Nose grabbed him and tossed him in the air. "I am the destroyer of worlds!" She exclaimed before going on the rampage. Other wizards from the construction coven joined to stop her madness.
One yelled, "Hey! That's the opposite of construction." They stopped Tiny Nose from using a hammer.
"Yowza-Wowza!" Luz said, watching Tiny Nose's rampage. Suddenly, a blue copy of Luz was phased behind her.
"Yowza-Wowza!" It copied, startling her and Azure.
"Yowza-Wha-a-a?!" Luz watched her illusion walk over to another one of the coven. It waved both Luz and Azure before it poofs out of existence. It turns out that two students from Hexside are wearing the same color as Gus. They were controlling Luz's double. The sign behind them was a handheld mirror.
"Fascinating..." Azure said.
Gus runs over to the other witches. "Ah! You've been taken in by the allure of the Illusionist Coven. We like to magic with a hint..." Gus then makes a circle before poofing into smoke. He reappeared a few feet away from where he originally was. "... of showmanship." He bows before the other two suddenly appear behind him. They bowed along with him.
"Wow! Acceptance? Comradery? A sense of belonging? Covens sound incredible!" Luz grinned widely.
"So, why haven't you joined one, Eda?" Azure asked.
"Look closely, you two." Eda made the childhood friends look towards the illusionist coven. They watch the new member initiate the magic branding. "When you join a coven, all your other magic is sealed away." The seal of illusion coven was on the wrist as veins of light blue in his face and arms. He became pale as the lines faded away.
"From now on, that kid will only be able to make illusions. Since I never joined a coven, I can do every kind of magic." Eda shows by conjuring a fireball in one hand and an orb of water in another before dispelling. "That is why I am the most powerful witch on the Boiling Isles." She walks away, leaving kids in awe. That's before they start running to catch up on Eda.
King, on the other hand, before he could follow them. He was stopped by a female in a student uniform with purple sleeves and pants. "The tea leaves foretell that this-" She twirls the pen with her hand and placed it in King's hands. The dipping pen says "Fortune tellers" with the symbol of an eye. "-will lead to your destiny."
"Destiny?" King scoffs. "I'm not paying for—"
"It's free-e-e." The Fortune teller student said as she retreated into the shadows.
"Are you bestowing gifts upon me?" King asked before gladly accepting an odd offering. "Yes! I accept your offering! The King of Demons is back!" He exclaimed before running off to the other booths.
---------
"Hey, what is that panel?" Azure said. Willow and Gus are in front of the entrance with each guard standing. The guards wear white capes and cowls with a raven masks. Above the entrance had a triangle symbol with a sword on wings and a circle in the middle.
"That panel looks popular," Luz commented.
"It's the Emperor's Coven!" Gus said with excitement. "Do you think they'll sign my forehead?"
"Only one way to find out!" Willow said as they head towards the entrance. Luz and Azure start to follow them, but they stopped when Eda didn't move.
"Aren't you comin' Eda?" Azure asked.
"No way. Of all the covens, they're the worst. I'll wait out here." Eda huffs with her arms crossed.
"Look, Eda. I get it, okay. Covens: bad. Individualism: good. But Azury and I are trying to get used to this world. So we're going in there and make up our minds, okay?" Luz before entering with Azure.
"I think that's her." Someone said behind Eda. She turned around and saw the guy from earlier showing the wanted poster to the guard. "I think I saw her over there." He pointed to her.
Eda feared that she'll get caught again by one of the attending covens from her wanted poster. So, she decided to quickly follow Luz and Azure to the Emperor's Coven.
Inside the Coven. The teens were surprised to see what was inside the domed theatre with rings of seats, overlooking the area. The stage underneath had a banner with the symbol of the Emperor's Coven. They sat down before Eda came and sat next to them. "Alright, let's see this mess," She crossed her arms. The lights dimmed as the stage was about to begin.
Music started to play. The spotlight shines as the principal of Hexside steps into the light. The crowd cheered as he created a magic circle to summon a microphone with bat wings.
"Hello, Bonesborough! Students ask me every time and say, "Principal Bump, what's the height of magical achievement?" Bump said.
"Is it this?!" Someone said in brown sleeves and a Hexside cowl as he made a circle to increase his head to a great proportion. Besides that, the neck couldn't support the eight of his head as it accidentally crushed the student next to him.
"Wow... I failed you as a principal." The principal winced. He grabs the mic. "It's being selected to join the best of the best. And there are none better than the jewel of the coven system and the enforcers of His will, the Emperor's Coven."
After he said that, three soldiers appeared in front of Principal Bump. The crowd roared with cheers and applause. "Luz! Azure!" Gus and Willow caught Luz and Azure's attention. They pointed at Gus's forehead, which was signed by the coven. Azure gave them a nod and a thumbs up.
"Feast your eyes on this elite force, each member handpicked to help usher in a new age of controlled magic." Bump said. The crowd watch three guards trace their white spell circle above them. They shot different types of elemental magic, such as water, fire, and lightning. Then they're combined into a big explosion.
While the rest were in awe, including Eda's apprentices. Eda, however, is far less impressed by their performance. She leaned next to a monster, "When does that "elite force" get here?" She asked before cracking herself up as she slapped her own knee, leaving the monster next to her to scoot away from her.
"Members of the Emperor's Coven have access to all, yes, all forms of magic. Ooh. Aah." Bumped said before the crowd copied his 'Ooh. Aah'. "But... only the best can ascend these ranks. Some day that could be one of you!" He pointed to someone familiar back in Hexside.
It was none other than the straight-A student and abomination witch, Amity Blight. Azure wondered why is she here until he saw a different side of her as she squealed in excitement. He thinks it's cute to see that geeky side of her instead of a girl bully trope. Luz wondered the same as well.
The apprentices didn't question as the guards finished their act before grabbing their capes in unison. They raised them up as they magically disappeared. Principal Bump continues with the introduction. "And now, I'm pleased to introduce the esteemed leader of this coven and this year's mystery guest. You know her! You love her! Lilith!"
While everyone else gasped and was shocked, Eda made a different reaction. "Wha?" Her laugh took a 180-turn into a shock. It was at this moment Bump said her name. She didn't expect her to appear on the stage.
Above them, a bright light flashed into a bright blue raven sitting on a branch. It opened its wings and flew down to the stage. Landing down in front of Principal Bump, it disperses into a wave of energy, washing the crowd.
The person was revealed wearing a cape, a cowl, and a white raven mask. She raised her arms, sending her mask flying. The raven screeches before disappearing into orbs of light.
Lilith is a tall, slender middle-aged woman that looks in her mid-late forties. She has ivory skin, pointed ears wear black lipstick, long, straight, dark navy hair, and mint green eyes. She also has dark claw-like nails. She wears a long-sleeved two-tone dark gray dress and dark gray laced boots. She also had an inverted kite-shaped sky blue gem located on her sternum, which was attached to her dress.
The audience applauds, and so do Azure and Luz. Eda is still speechless and shocked, kept staring at her. They notice her expression. Azure asks, "Do you know her?"
"You could say that," Eda responds.
"Mysterious past." Luz gasps and whispers.
"Thank you, all!" Lilith said. She uses her magic to take off her cape and mask. Handing it over to Bump. "It wasn't easy for me to rise to the top. I also started from humble beginnings."
"Like me," The student whispers.
"Now, I have the highest honor of enforcing the Emperor's will. So be more! The Emperor's Coven awaits you!" Lilith says.
She spins to create the raven illusion. It spreads its wings that later expand and explode into balls of light. It amazes everyone as they applaud and cheer.
Eda, however, still glares at Lilith.
-------
After the event was over, Azure and Luz wanted to explore more from the covention after they exited, but Eda turned to walk away. "Where are you going, Eda?" Luz asked.
"I'm gonna head home and wash the con funk off my skin," Eda said.
"Is it because of that woman back there?" Azure assumes.
"Look, kid. I don't want to talk about it. Now, if you'll excuse me, I still need to wash it off." Eda starts to walk away again, but Luz blocked her way.
"But we haven't even taken the quiz to determine our coven type!" Luz heads up a magazine of "What Coven are you in?" Eda shoots her magic laser beam through the mag, creating a hole.
"Oh, a Punky Potionist." Luz reads as she walks without looking.
"Hey, where's King?" Azure asked Luz before accidentally bumping into someone. Someone looked familiar. "Whoops. Sorry about that." He said to the green-haired girl.
"You better watch where you..." Amity turned around before she halted her sentence. She recognizes the two from last week. "Oh, it's you two. The Halfa and Willow's abomination thing."
"Look, first off, what happened last week. We only did that to help Willow. Secondly, Luz is not Willow's abomination thing, Luz's human." Azure holds out his hand. "So, let's start over and let bygones be bygones, yeah? Hi! I'm Azure, but you can call me 'Azury' if you like?"
"Put that hand away." She slapped Azure's hand away. "You're the one that got me in trouble with Principal Bump, and I NEVER get in trouble." She glared.
"It wasn't intentional. You made that old man almost dissect Luz that time." He reminded Amity.
"Well, you shouldn't be here. This convention is for witches only." Amity stated.
"I hate to break it to you, but I'm a part witch." Azure's almost having enough with her. "Also, Luz and I came here to learn how to use magic. We're receiving lessons from a powerful witch and our ferocious demon." He crossed his arms.
Something got Amity's attention behind them. "Is that your ferocious demon there?" She asked.
Azure and Luz turned around and saw King. What's unbelievable is that he's wearing all kinds of stuff he's got. On his head, wearing a green baseball cap. He's wearing a pale green tee-shirt with a pin, a blue and light blue scarf, and holds a cupcake in his claws. Behind him were two Bakers' coven members with a tray of cupcakes.
"Cupcakes in my tummy-tum makes the King say yummy-yum!" King sang, smiling.
"So, you'll join the Bakers' Coven?" The baker asked King.
King stopped and looked at them while eating a cupcake. "Hmm." He thinks for a moment before stuffing it in his mouth. "Nope." He snatched another cupcake and ran off towards Luz, Azure, and Amity. "Hey, guys."
"There you are, King. Where were you? And what's with the swag and everything?" Azure asked King.
"Not important. But look at all these offerings! King of Demons is back, baby! Oof!" King trips on the scarf, making him drop the cupcake on the floor.
"I got it," Azure said before reaching out for the cupcake.
Without warning, Amity suddenly stomps on the frosting of the cupcake. King gasped in horror.
"Oops. That was an accident." Amity said sarcastically and mockingly.
Azure just had enough of her. Glaring, "What the hell was that for? What's your problem? What did King do to deserve this?"
"My problem is you." She points at Azure and turns her head away. "You, that human, and your pet are giving witches-in-training a bad name."
"I am NOT A PET!" King yelled before scratching himself with his hind leg like a dog.
Luz hugs King, "He's a very good boy and the King of Demons!"
Amity scoffs. "Whatever."
"You know what, I'll tell you something. It's one thing you tell Luz she can't be a witch, and I can't be a witch either."
"Cause you both can't."
"It's the other thing to bully friends like that. I will not just stand there and let you be mean to everyone."
"And what are you going to do about it?" Amity asked.
Luz watches the two fight and gasps, "This is just like The Good Witch Azura said when facing down her rival Hecate at the Bog of Immediate Regret." Luz whispered as she let go of King.
"Then I-
"He'll challenge you to a witches duel!" Luz suddenly shouted and pointed at Amity.
Everyone around them gasped at that. Monsters whispering, 'witches duel?'
"A witch's duel? Is that right?"
"Uhh... Can you give me and Luz a moment." Azure said before retreating to Luz and King. Amity huffs before crossing her arms.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING, LUZ!?" Azure whispered. "You're making me enter the hornet's nest. It's nuts!"
"Nuts? You've dealt with her before. You can do it again." Luz said with confidence. "It shouldn't be a big deal for you."
"I'm not—" Azure paused for a second before pressing palms together in front of his face, taking a deep breath through the nose. "If things got out of hand, you're burying me alive." He said before turning back to Amity, still waiting for an answer.
"If it's the only way to resolve this from bullying, then I challenge you... to a witches duel!" Azure said.
Amity grew a smug face and stepped toward Azure. She was getting closer to his face. The close she got, the closer Azure made sweated, and his face turned red. Still, Azure kept a straight face. "I accept." She said before taking a step back. "State your terms for this duel, Halfa."
"Two things! One! You apologize to King for stepping on his cupcake." Azure said. King picks up the remains of a cupcake and caresses it.
"Good night, sweet child o' mine," King said, holding the frosting on the cupcake.
"And two! You admit that humans can be witches too, Halfas included. Does that sound fine with you?"
"Fine by me," Amity said before smirking. "But when I win. Not only do you have to tell the whole covention that you two aren't witches, but you two also have to stop learning magic, forever. And I'll be taking that grimoire away from your hands."
"You can't be serious about this." Azure held on to his sling backpack.
"What's the matter? Afraid I'll take away your book?" Amity said, smirking.
What purpose would the grimoire serve for Amity? Would it just be another addition to her collection of defeated enemies? Or would it hold some other significance? These are the questions lingering in his mind, as he ponders over the idea of obtaining the rare grimoire.
"Do it, Azure! FOR MY HONOR!" King shouts.
Azure turns to Luz who gives him an encouraging smile and a thumbs up before he sets his determined gaze on Amity.
"Okay, deal! Let's shake on it." Azure said as he held up his hand. Waiting for Amity to shake on their deal, but she had something in mind. She made a circle around his hand before grabbing it. Azure looks down at his hand. The glow on his palm and wrist fades.
"The everlasting oath is sealed," Amity said as she lets go of his hand.
"Name the place and time," Azure said.
"Meet back inside the theater in one hour." Amity then turns and walks away. "Let's see what kind of witch you are."
"I can do this, right guys?" Azure looks back as Luz gives him a thumbs up.
"You got this!" Luz nods.
They turned to King, eating a cupcake on the floor. He turned his head to them as he stopped. "Hmm? Oh, yeah. No." Showing no concern about Azure.
"Then what was about honor earlier!? Was that just being dramatic!?" Azure glares at King.
"I was. You may have a grimoire, but what's the difference that you're fighting a full-fledged witch against your dumb old grimoire? Plus, you barely know a few spells. Remember?"
Azure realized they'd been here for a week and barely knew any other spells. One from the book and the other from Eda. Luz is beginning to lose hope and brings concern to their fight. Afraid that they'll never have to learn magic ever again. "Aw, crap," Azure said.
Someone came towards the owl gang.
"That may be true, dog. However, there is more to the situation than what initially meets the eye." The disheveled blonde stepped in between King and Azure, wearing the same attire as the Hexside student but with orange sleeves and pants. His scar was visible on the bridge of his nose.
"Who are you?" Azure asked.
"The name's Zeno Nevermore. Willow and Gus talked about you guys frequently. The word spreads like moss. Or was it wildfire?" Zeno said before going back to the subject. "Anyway, it seems you made an everlasting oath. Meaning that if you break it, you might die. . . Or am I wrong?" Zeno places his finger and thumb on his chin.
"...That's reassuring..." Azure sarcastically rolled his eyes before he asked. "Why are you telling me this?"
"They say you're a witch who can create an ice stuff from a book, that you've hacked and slashed Principal Bump's goop monsters, and that you've helped Willow switch from studying Abominations to studying the Plant coven. Though I wonder whats with the fire sword? Whatever the case, if what I've heard is true, then I suppose I have my answer."
"Did you spy on us all the way here?"
"I didn't. I'm only here for my older brother. I just happen to see you here with my strong sense of my nose. And you smell like a defecated trash-worm." He presses his nose away from Azure's stench
"Rude much?" Azure squints, annoyed with the comment.
"It's one of our traits in the Beast-Keeping." He looks at his imp watch. "Oh, I suggest that you fly because you won't be able to last for long." Zeno walks away from the owl gang. "Do your best, Halfa. Or don't. I'll be watching you."
"What a weirdo." King said harshly as he stuffs his mouth with frosting.
"Come on. We got to find Eda." Azure starts running to find Eda as Luz follows while carrying King.
-------
Meanwhile, Eda tries to sneak away from the convention. That day, she's more likely to get out of this place. Not with 'her' appearing here. Before the moment she was out of here, someone noticed her and said, "Sister?"
Eda flinches and stops when she heard that voice. She turned to see Lilith giving autographs to a few kids.
"It's been so long since I've seen you last!" Lilith said before finishing and handing her signature as she walked toward Eda. The kids follow behind. "What are you wearing? You look like some sort of trash collector. Oh, right. You are."
"Oh, Lily. I just had to see the leader of the Emperor's Coven in action." Eda said before kneeling to the students. "You know, when we were kids, Lilith was so excited to see the Emperor's Coven, she peed herself a little."
This made the kids laugh, while Lilith blushed in embarrassment. "That's—That's enough for today, kids." She ushers them off with a wave. She then drops her pleasantries and faces Eda. "You shouldn't even be here. You're a wanted criminal! Unless..." Lilith widened her eyes and gasped. "I don't believe it! You're here to join the Emperor's Coven!" She grasps her sister's hand.
Eda took a moment to chortle at Lilith's statement as she took her hands off her sister's hands. Eda breaks into laughter. "In your dreams." She said before laughing again.
Lilith narrowed her eyes and frowned. "You think being covenless makes you so much smarter than everyone else. But while you run from the law like a degenerate, I'm mentoring the next generation of powerful witch students into the world."
"Well, I have students too. One of mine is a fighter. And I bet they could wipe the floor with any of your prissy little blue-bloods."
Lilith walks closer to Eda's face. "Is that a challenge?"
"Oh, it's a promise."
"Eda! Azury and I need your help! We ran into Amity." Luz exclaims as they ran into Eda.
"I accidentally challenged her to a witch's duel," Azure said.
"And I think she's going to kill him all the way dead!" Luz slumps into the floor.
Lilith looked at the duo. A human and a Halfa with small pointy ears. "So these are your students, I suppose? It seems that they have met my strongest protégé. I mean, look at them. A human?" Luz covered her ears. "And a Halfa? Where'd you find one of these?" Lilith chuckled as Azure glared. "Okay, Edalyn." She drew a spell circle.
Around the convention, Eda's wanted posters were burnt into ashes. "For one day, you won't have to hide from the law. Because I want to see how good a teacher you really are." Lilith turns and walks away to find her protege to prepare for the upcoming duel.
"C'mon, kids. It's time for some bloodshed." Eda placed her hands on their pupil's shoulders.
"But... whose blood?" Luz nervously asked.
"Anyone's guess!" Eda chuckles.
--------
Eda takes the teens to the corner of the building. Azure's fight for an hour begins as Eda puts on her headband. "Alright, Azure. Your training begins now. So, I'm coming at you with a blast of fire. What do you do?" Eda asked as she leaned in.
"I dodge and attack with my grimoire," Azure answered after shrugging his shoulders.
"Good, good. But I then come at you with spiky rocks from underground, and there's no way to escape because you'll be surrounded. What do you do then?" Eda asks. She met with silence as Azure did nothing. "Ohh, right... I haven't taught you any more spells, have I?"
"No," Azure said.
"Boy, I hope you didn't make an everlasting oath to stop learning magic or anything. You'd be toast."
Luz and Azure look at each other before looking at his hand. Luz nervously asked, "I-Is there a glowy hand thing that happens, or, uh-"
"Abomination. Rise." A voice heard from a distance.
It was Amity as she concentrated on summoning her abomination. Lilith watches her make a small golem. The golem twists its head as it throws it toward the baker's coven member in the face. Nearby the stand, Tiny nose grabs the member and chucks him to the side before screaming and powering up even more.
"Ooh, boy," Eda said.
"I can't believe that we have to stop learning magic. And she'll take Azury's grimoire. I should've made that challenge."
"Okay, things look bad right now, but that doesn't matter. I can hack and slash these abominations at school before, and I can do it again." Azure said. Knowing it'll be the same summons as before.
"Then let's not make haste and take down that prissy's protégé. Because I have a plan." Eda said before the headband rips off.
--------
One hour later, the witch's duel between Azure and Amity begins. In the arena, every witch but King gathered and were eager to see a fight. Lilith and Amity stood on stage looking confident. On the opposite side, Azure stood with Luz and Eda. Azure looks determined and nervous. He looks at Amity, who smugs at Azure. He waved his hand to her.
Azure looked around the stadium as he was nervous. Feeling like butterflies in his stomach. He's got stage fright when it comes to an audience watching him.
He can't let this get to his head. Azure shakes his head in thought and focuses on what's important.
Lilith announces, "Beloved citizens, the Emperor's Coven proudly presents an impromptu demonstration of the sort of a witch we seek every year. Introducing Amity Blight." She presents Amity as she steps forth to the arena as the crowd roars with cheers.
Above all creatures/witches, Willow and Gus looked worried. As for Zeno, who just sat down next to them with crossed arms. "Versus... A Halfa..." Azure steps forth to the arena as the crowd mutters.
"A Halfa?"
"They exist?"
"Halfas can't do magic!"
"What's A Halfa?"
"What's a Halfa doing here?"
"He's not Amity!"
Azure sighs, "God, I hate people watching me..." He whispered.
Eda places her hands on his shoulders, "Relax, Azure. See those mounds." Eda points to the ground. A bunch of bumps everywhere in the arena. Eda secretly casts a bunch of mounds before the match begins. "Get Amity to step into one of them, and she'll set off my magic traps."
"That's cheating!" Luz exclaims.
"Nobody will know. To all eyes up there it'll look like you're using magic."
"Do you think I would fight this way?" Azure asked.
Eda places her hands on his shoulders. "Listen, kid. I know you and Luz are working hard to learn magic, but do you want to take it to the next level? I can help you knock it out of the park. Fairness maybe important, but if you want to come out on top, sometimes you have to play hardball." Before Azure could respond, the monster bell rang its bloodcurdling scream.
The Halfa sighs, both nervous and ready. "Wish me luck." Azure pushes forward as Amity jumps off the stage.
Azure and Amity met in the middle. Cheers fill the room. Both of them are ready to unveil their duel between the top student and the newbie sorcerer.
"Hope you're ready," Amity said as she cracks her knuckles.
"Ready whenever you are." Azure reaches into his sling bag and retrieves his grimoire, which begins to levitate on its own. As he takes a deep breath, his eyes start glowing a bright blue. He exhales, creating a spear made entirely of ice.
"Hmph." Amity drew a big circle. The circle created electricity as the golem rose. "Abomination, rise." She raises her hands. Unexpectedly, the goo golem is huge. Azure and Amity both widen their eyes, shocked in awe by her giant golem.
"Woah." Amity was amazed she held this kind of power before. She smirks, "Show me what you got, Halfa!" The abomination raises its hand, ready to squash him.
"Oh, I'll show you what I got." Azure dodges to the right as a giant hand slams through the ground. The abomination twists its head off and aims at Azure. It throws its head towards him, and it slams into the ground, making a crater of goo. The golem quickly regenerates its head.
Azure aims for the arm while taking a step back for a better aim. He then throws the spear high enough to hit the arm, it goes in. The spear then scattered to pieces as the ice froze the entire arm. The golem looked at its arm and then looked back at Azure before it riled his arm up for a slam. He took notice and rolled back before the arm created another crater as the arm shattered into pieces of ice.
Azure successfully cast his latest spell, allowing him to create Ice-made weapons at his will. However, the spell's effects are temporary, and Azure's fingers begin to turn red and purple, causing him pain when he clenches his hands.
The giant took a step, unaware of the magic mound Eda secretly cast. As it stomped on the ground, the abomination looked down, feeling something emerging from the ground as it burst a pillar of fire that set the frozen arm and leg on fire. The magic mound begins to erupt.
The audience looks in awe. "What the?" Amity said in awe, but she noticed something that wasn't right. "How'd you do that?"
Azure shrugs, "Dunno... Doing like how you do." He lied.
The abomination continues to approach Azure, while his frozen arm and leg are still on fire. He needs a way to flank and take down Lilith's student. Azure thinks of an idea as he stepped into the mound in front of him, hoping it would distract Amity's abomination. He pressed the mound hard, as black smoke emerged. It blinded not only the Abomination but also blocked the audience's view of the duel.
Azure ran past the abomination between the legs. Amity looks around for Azure. The fog makes her have a hard to finding him. She sees a silhouette that is shaped like Azure. Amity smirks and raises her glowing palm, aiming at Azure.
The abomination retreats to its master and throws its arms toward Azure.
*SLAM!!!*
The smoke cleared, only revealed the crater that the golem had made. Bottom of the crater were pieces of shattered ice, which resembles Azure. Amity's eyes widen as turns left to right, finding where Azure is whether he wasn't on the crater.
She looked up and saw Azure in mid-air as he threw his basketball-sized light spell to the ground. As the light got closer, a bright light exploded on contact. It flashed Amity before she could shut her eyes. She opened slightly as whiteness filled her vision.
Her vision returns to normal, she sees Azure, advances on her. Before she could react, Azure stepped to the right, dropped down to the floor, hugged the ground with both feet, looked directly at her calf, and used his left leg to sweep the leg. Amity trips down to the ground and sits up. She then extends her arms with magic circles as the abomination turns into goo and launches itself toward Azure, who braces for impact.
The abomination grabbed Azure into the air and readied to slam him into the ground. He can't escape the goo this time as he can do nothing but prepare for impact.
It made into a large crater as the audience winced before they went back to cheering. Willow should know that her abominations back at the school weren't ever that tall before. Something wasn't right. Zeno knew something strange as well.
"Amity never makes abominations that big. It requires huge amount of magic to create a beast like that. Something smells, 'fishy' or so they say in human language." Zeno eyes on Amity, which she looks at her hands, feeling so powerful all of a sudden.
"♪ Things that are free. People are giving offerings to me! ♪" King hums with glee, dressed in more stacks of gifts and swag offered to him. He now has three more hats, a swag coven band, more pins, and scarfs. "I. Love. Offerings! What did I miss?"
"Azure is in a witch's duel." Willow said.
"Yeah! And he can win it all! Yeah-yah!" Gus threw his arms in the air.
"Weh?" King looks down at the arena, curiously.
The goo moved out of the crater, leaving Azure lying on the ground. He lifts himself up with his long ice rod as support. "That all you got?" He smirks as he tries to hide his pain. He needs to endure a little more pain until he tries to take Amity down. The Abomination reforms back into its giant form as it advanced toward him.
"You just never stay down." Azure looks down at the mount in front of him. Amity grows closer along with her abomination. It took another step on the mound, resulted a powerful gust of air emerged from the ground lifting Amity and the abomination with them.
Amity lands on the ground while kneeling. "Don't let him have any room to breathe!" She commands her abomination. The giant golem slowly gets up and goes after Azure. "What are you getting at?!" Amity asked him.
"Sorry, girl. A magician never reveals secrets!" Azure twirls his pole and aims it at the Abomination. But before Azure could throw the pole, the golem raised its foot. It then stomps toward Azure, which he rolled to the side barely escaping being turned into a flat pancake.
"Oh, this I gotta see!" King climbs down the stairs.
"Go, Amity!" Amity's fan waves his foam finger.
"Hey! You root for Azure or nobody!" King said before he didn't know he stepped on the scarf, again, causing him to trip down the stairs.
Meanwhile from behind the audience.
The coven guard with a scarred mask on the left face and a shoulder pad with fur watches the fight. He focuses on Azure as he caresses his shoulder fur. "So this is supposed to be the Halfa? What you think, Manta?" He asked to his shoulder fur. A brief of silence occurs while the crowd roars of cheers. "I think so too."
A mound sets off an explosion. Causes for the Abomination to fall off again. Azure ran for its arm and stabbed it with his spear. The spear then froze its arm, again, causing the golem to be stuck.
"How are you doing that?!" Amity demands Azure. "Halfas don't usually have this much power."
"I'm a different kind of Halfa." Azure said before he made another spear, but it was much slower than last time. He was reaching his limit and might have caused a slight pain from the fingertips. If he kept overusing, he might as well risk much worse than frostbite.
He tries to keep focusing on manifesting his ice spear, but it's still slow to build up. He then starts to feel his arms hurting, resulting in him stopping his casting as the spear disappears into thin air.
"Looks like you've reached your limit!" Amity said before calling out her abomination. "Abomination, restrain!" She commands it as it formed into goo and goes after Azure.
The abomination restrained his arms and legs, rendering him unable to move. Amity comes closer to Azure to finish the duel, but the sorcerer notices a mound in front of the green-haired witch.
"Wait! Don't get any closer!" Azure exclaims.
Amity looks down, suspiciously, before looking back at Azure. "Why, Azure? What happens if I do?"
"Just don't—
Suddenly, King fell flat on his back between Amity and Azure. King stood up and checks himself.
"King?" Azure said.
"Mmm? I'm okay!" King raises his arms in relief.
Unknowingly, he stood on the mound as the ground shakes as spikes emerge from the ground, barely maiming King if it weren't for his swag shirts and hats that saved his life.
"Spikes!?" Luz exclaims to Eda.
Eda thumbs up.
"I knew it! You were cheating!" Amity points at Azure. "Abomination, release!"
The abomination unbinds Azure as it retreats into its golem form next to Amity.
"Wait! I know how this looks but please hear me out a bit." Azure tries to explain.
Lilith touches the shortest spike as it disintegrates into crumbles of dirt. "Oh, Eda. I do believe this means you lose!" This made Eda groans.
"Look, at the beginning, I refuse to cheat, but I was already too late to try stop it from happening I—
"Who could believe everything you say?" Amity said before walking away from this foolish duel she had.
Azure tried to say something but anything he'll say would mean nothing but lies now that she believed him as a cheater just to win.
Azure couldn't help but notice something behind her nape. It look like a sticker with a fist symbol.
"Hey, Eda." Azure said.
"What?"
"Theres something on that girl's neck..." Azure pointed to the back of Amity's neck. Eda notices it too.
"Wait just a sec, Miss Protégé." Eda said to Amity.
"Hey! What are you—" Amity stopped his sentence to realize something was ripped off on the back of her neck. Eda and Amity then look at Amity's abomination shrunk down into a height of Amity's knee. The head crushes the body into crumbles of goo.
Azure's jaw drops, "Amity... don't tell me you-
"A Power Glyph from the Constructions Coven." Eda announced and raised her arm up for everyone to show the glyph. Amity was stunned and starting to feel her nape. She also can't believe Lilith, her mentor, would use this tactic for Amity to gain the advantage. Everyone around the arena was stunned and gasped.
"What? N-no! But... I didn't know! I would never do this!" Amity said with genuine shock and fear.
"Then who would—" Azure stops his sentence before looking at the very one, who is Amity's mentor... "You." Pointing at Lilith.
"Ah-ha! Yes, yes, yes-yes-yes!" Eda cheers, doing the victory dance before mocking her sister. "You cheated. Perfect, prissy Lilith cheated. Hot dang, I love coventions! Oh! Oh! La-la-la—"
"I only did that because I knew you would cheat!"
"Still cheated! Welcome down to MY level!" Eda singed.
Amity can't take the embarrassment as she swells up tears and makes a run for it through the exit. She can't take it. The embarrassment has given disappointed and shocked fans to see that she cheated.
"Amity, wait!" Luz reaches out for her and gives chase after her.
"Luz, wait!" Azure said before releasing King from the spikes, causing the clothes and hats the canine had ripped and torn.
"No! My offerings!" King exclaimed. All the swag he was offered is ruined.
"We'll get you more offerings later, King." He then runs up to Luz while leaving King behind.
"Hey, wait for me!" King followed Azure out towards the exit of the arena.
---------
Meanwhile, Eda, still dancing, Lilith tries to stop her antics around everybody in the arena. The coven guard with a fur shoulder walks towards Principal Bump and whispers, "Shall I intervene before things might go out of hand?"
"Not now, Coven Captain Griff. I think the duel still goes on." P. Bump said.
"But still, I know- We know what they're capable of. They might cause destruction around the arena." Griff tries to warn him.
"Then go evacuate them IF there is."
Griff sighs and leaves Bump. "If you say so."
---------
"Knock it off. You're making a scene." Lilith disputes Eda's dancing, still.
"You cheated!" Eda points her finger at Lilith. She never thought this day would come and always wanted to talk smack on her. "Ey-yo, where's the rhyming coven? What rhymes with 'cheated'?"
"Stop acting like a child!"
"You were defeated, don't get heated, get your skank face treated!" Eda spittin in front of Lilith.
"Rhyme one more thing! I dare you!" Lilith growls.
"Oh, thats okay, I'm done... ... ..." Eda pauses for a few seconds.
•

"... ... ...Because my rhymes are depleated!"
"Oh! Thats IT!!!" Lilith screams before summoning her staff. She spun het staff and fires her magic blast towards Eda.
Eda gets knocked back by the blast into the podium. Shocking everyone in the theater. Griff winces at the impact from the wall.
The dust clears up, ignoring the damage she took, Eda opens her eyes, "There she is." Eda smirks.
Eda summons her staff from her hand. She spins and whirls in a yellow circle, preparing her magic blast, but if it weren't for her staff to fly out of her hand and clatter on the ground. She picks it back up with a roar and blasts out the magic energy towards Lilith, which she blasts her own back at Eda.
Amity's fan shouted with excitement, "Witches Duel!!!"
Both their blasts are evenly matched. This causes them to explode into a white light. Griff is intrigued that the Clawthorne sisters are this powerful. Though, he still isn't close to Lilith's level.
"Sisters... always fighting each other." Griff chuckled.
---------
Azure and Luz exited the theater. They looked around the convention only to spot her in a shadowy corner near the restrooms, sulking. Amity sat with her head against her knees, clearly upset. Azure approached her.
"Amity... I-
"What do you want?" Amity turned her head away from Azure.
"About what happened earlier was-
She turned to Azure, showing little red on her eyes with tears still coming out of her eyes. "Ugh! Seriously!? Just leave me alone." She demanded before turning away.
Azure sighed, "Just hear me out. What I did there, I didn't mean for you to feel embarrassed. I was—
Amity stood up and turned to face Azure, glaring at him. "Seriously!? That's all you ever do! Ever since you showed up, you've not only embarrassed me in front of the school. But you've made me look like a fool in front of the Emperor's coven. My future! You and her think it's easy to be a witch, but I've been working my entire life to get to the top!"
"Okay, enough already."
Amity approaches Azure and says, "Just because you used that thing doesn't necessarily mean that you are a witch, Halfa! You cannot become a witch merely by using that book with a few spells. You cheated, so you should admit it! Say that you are not a witch!"
Azure opens his mouth, but closes it before looking at the ground, admittedly he's not A witch, but just a half witch. "You're right... I'm not. She's not a witch either. But one thing we can prove we are." Luz pulls out her notepad and pencil and kneels. Amity kneels with her. She draws a light glyph and then taps it. She gently cups the ball of light and shows it to Amity.
Azure draws out his light glyph, but a little messier than Luz's glyph. He taps it and it produces a flickering ball of light. "We're training hard to be one," Luz said. Azure's light ball faded away.
Amity scoffs and turn away, "That's nothing. Even a child could do that." She then turn her head on the light spell. "But I never seen someone cast it like that before."
"Well, it's not natural, but it's proof that humans can do magic. At least, Luz does it more naturally than I do, since I just copy and paste into this grimoire, and—" He snaps his fingers as he created a ball of light, "—Poof, I made light with my hands."
Azure sighed, "Though, I'm still figuring out who I am, what I am. Even if I have magic limitations with my grimoire, I'll risk my life for others even if it means getting a few injuries or frostbites. But that won't ever stop me from trying to learn from my mistakes and properly control my magic. I don't know what the future holds for me and Luz, but we'll face the future together. Even if times are bleak."
Amity stayed silent for a moment. She then sighed and drew a magic circle. Taking Azure's hand as their hands glow for a few seconds. "The everlasting oath has unbound."
"So, maybe next time we'll have a proper duel? No tricks, no nothing?" Azure asked after looking at his arm if the spell did break off.
"Perhaps..."
"Does this mean we can still learn magic?" Luz asked.
Amity stopped her tracks. "Humans have no magical abilities, but I doubt that'll stop Azure."
Luz stood up and keeps looking at Amity, walking away. Azure sighs in relief mostly for Luz to keep learning magic.
"I guess we're good for now..." Luz suddenly hugs Azure tightly. "What the heck, Luz?"
"I am so, so, so, so, so, so sorry that I forced you to challenge Amity to a witches duel! It was stupid for me to do. I should've been the one fighting her, not you!"
"It's fine, Luz."
"You sure? I mean you didn't need to, but I—
"If it's fine, Luz. Then, it's fine. But it did feel good."
"Azure! Luz!" King caught up to them as Luz knelt down. "You left me!"
"Yeah, sorry." Luz apologized. "Your legs are so tiny. Should we get you more offerings."
"Maybe the one you feel swag enough?" Azure asked King.
"Nah. That stuff just weighed me down. But I have something for you, Luz. And it's the best thing, because it's free, comes from my heart, and I always have more than I need."
Luz gasped, "Is it love?"
"Ugh! No!" King said with a disgusted expression before he pulled out a convention tote bag. "Tote bags."
"Wow... How thoughtful..." Azure sarcastically said.
King puts it on Luz's arm. "They have so many uses!" He hops into the bag and points to the exit. "Away, fair chariot! Away!" Luz pats his head, laughing with Azure.
Eda came in rushing behind them. "We gotta go."
"How'd you get away from Lilith?" Luz asked.
"Let's just say Lilith had a real "snack attack." Hah!" Eda jokes herself as she snorts put of laughter. "Wait I got a better one."
"... Eda..." Luz said, wanting to ask Eda something as she stopped her tracks and looks back at her. "Do you think I'll— We'll ever be true witches?"
"What? I don't know. And who's a true witch? These suckers?" Eda refers to the two bozos talking to each other before they leave awkwardly after overhearing her comments. "According to them, that means being in a coven, but I never joined one and I'm better than all of them combined. You gotta be your own witch."
Luz then gets brighten up from her last sentence, "My own witch."
Azure thinks for a moment in Eda's sentence.
"Now, let's get out of here before my sister realizes I tied her pointy shoes together." Eda said, placing her hands on Azure and Luz's shoulders.
They could hear Lilith screams somewhere far from them.
"And that's our cue!" Eda pushes them towards the exit.
The automatic doors open with the sign above saying; "Come back soon! We'll get you eventually!" They all walk together on their way back to their Owl House. Azure looked at his hand and may have to find warm water to apply to his fingers. He needs some way to use his magic without risking his hands being amputated. He'll have to forge a path to become his own witch or in this case, sorcerer.
This is just the beginning of his journey to become greater towards his peak.
"Sister, huh? Some mysterious past, right Luz?" Azure asked Luz.
"Yeah! And that's some payoff!"
"Oh, you think that's all the mystery I got? Wait until you hear about my parents." Eda said.
"What!? You've got parents? We need to know more!" Luz is now more intrigued to meet her parents.
"Trust me, you very much don't." King advises.
---------
Lilith enters the dressing room, tripping over her tied shoelaces. "You make it so hard to help you, Edalyn." Lilith grunts. She manages to stand up, only to trip near the counter.
Griff enters the room as well, before he looks down. He sees Lilith struggling with her shoelaces and getting irritated. He takes off his mask, revealing his brown with a yellow streak, messy, ponytail. He has baggy eyes that never seem to get any sleep.
Griff sheathes his dagger and grabs Lilith's hand, "That was pretty snazzy performance between you and Eda, huh, Lilith?" He lifts her up on her feet.
The compact with the insignia of the Emperor's Coven from the make-up counter vibrates while glowing. They both knew this is a call from the Emperor's Coven. It pops open as the mirror glows. This causes Lilith to gasp.
The figure appeared to be a red-skinned demon of diminutive stature and child-like proportions. She stands several heads shorter than her subordinates, with three-toed, talon-clad arms and legs similar to those of a bird's. Her talons are colored dark brown. Her left eye has yellow sclera and a brownish red iris. A white tunic over a black ensemble, as well as a high-collared veil which shrouds the lower regions of her face. This veil is fastened by a triangular golden accessory. This was Kikimora. The Emperor's Coven Assistant.
"Lilith, I see you let The Owl Lady get the best of your temper. Just remember what Emperor Belos has promised to you."
"I will capture her, ma'am. You have my word."
"Very good." Kikimora bows slightly.
"Madam. A word if I may?" Griff bowed.
"Ah, Captain Griff. Tell me, is there anything to report us?"
"It is confirmed that it was the Halfa. He's the one the Emperor's looking for. He appears to have a grimoire in his hands. Shown to have familiar abilities as Zerifhs, but the thing is he's inexperienced with the full control of his grimoire. I must request a reconsideration on his decision on capturing him. He hasn't reached his full capabilities as a Halfa. He doesn't know a thing about-
"The Emperor made his decision clear. May I not repeat?" Kikimora glares at Griff.
This irritates Griff, knowing he really let The Emperor get under his skin. The caresses his fur once again before letting out an agitated sigh. "No ma'am. . . I understand his decision. I'll make sure to find this young Halfa and bring him to justice."
"Good. We'll keep you updated for your next course of action."
"Yes, Ma'am" Lilith and Griff bowed.
The projector shifts back into a normal compact mirror. Griff slams the mirror shut with a harsh movement. As he moves out, he starts to wonder why the Emperor would need this kid so badly. What had he ever done to him? All he did was cause hurt to the Warden. Griff had seen what the Halfa was capable of doing against the Zapent. But was it enough to convince him why the Emperor wanted him? So many questions were left unanswered in his mind.
It irritates him when Kikimora won't tell him more information about the Halfa. The Emperor himself just directly orders him to bring the Halfa to him, immediately. He's only a kid. How would a kid be a potential threat when he isn't using any threats against the Emperor? Then again, the Halfa is taken in by the Owl Lady. "This is stupid. What is so great about him?"
"Our orders are to bring him and Edalyn. We don't tolerate his decisions." Lilith replies.
Griff looks back at Lilith, "Aren't you curious as well? Is anything about this, suspicious to you? If you're done licking his foot like a four-mouthed dog and listen, he's just a damn kid for titans sake. I never see him go face to face against the Emperor. But does this have anything to do between you and your sister? Titan, he is freaking clouding my damn mind!"
"Griff. I know you're getting used to being the Captain, but your scouts need you to be fearless, strong, and keep your composure even when things are tough for you and your scouts." Lilith places her hand on his shoulder, trying to reassure his position and keep his head straight.
"Don't talk to me about how to act like a captain and be responsible for my scouts when I'm here telling you that the Halfa hasn't done squat against the Emperor. Sure, the Warden was one thing, but that was his own fault. What relation does this have to do with Zer-."
Lilith can't look at the state Griff is in. The Emperor's orders are not to be taken in the way his position and his attitude are acting up right now. She didn't want to push him to his starting rebellion, so she speaks to him as a higher role, "As your Emperor's Coven Leader, I won't speak of this any further. You're dismissed."
Griff scoffs as he had his hand on a handle before opening and slamming the door on his way out.
---------
Griff pinches his temple. Today was just his usual day only a little stressed than he needs is to just go home with his family.
"Everything okay?" Zeno asked Griff.
Griff thinks about it for a second before giving the answer, "No... I don't think everything will be fine at this point."
"So, you're going back to work again?"
