Chapter Two

<3

(A/N this is the best I could do to get a pic of Seto's arm band)

(Seto's POV)

I continue to walk around, the cool metal bat on the armband hugging my wrist. It really is beautiful. As I'm walking, I see a group of kids standing outside of the blacksmith. They look about my age so they are probably getting swords. You could bring your own sword to the army, or they would give you a standard issue iron sword. Why spend money on something that you could get for free? One of them saw me, and pointed me out the the rest. They start to snicker and laugh at me. Not Only am I short and scrawny, but I'm a massive book worm. I'd rather be reading then do anything physical. I quickly turn the corner to escape their sight.

I walk to the market stalls with the cloak of my hood covering my face. I don't want to deal with anymore teasing for today. Aunt Lucy needed more potatoes for the week, and I might as well get them while I'm here. I quickly walk over to the stall and pull out a few coins from my pocket. The person in the stall looks up from her goods and gives me a smile. "Hello good sir, is there anything I can do for you?", she says. "Y-yes. Do you have any potatoes? I'd like to buy about five if you have any." I reply. She smiles again, before turning to an open chest behind her. She grabs the potatoes and offers them to me. I grab them with my left and offer her the money with my right. As I raise up my right arm, the emerald eyes of the bat reflects the sunlight. Before I can lower my arm, she grabs me by my elbow. Her grip is like iron and forces me to stay put. She studies it before looking me dead in the eye. At this point I'm freaking out and not thinking strait. I manage to rip my arm away and bolt to the other side of the market. I only look back once, but that's when I see her eyes flash yellow. I then ran all the way home without stopping. I'm terrified. Why is this armband so important? Why do I keep seeing people's eyes change colors?

All these questions swirl around in my head, and I don't see what's in front of me until I smack into it. A fence post. Correction, the fence post that marks the boundaries around my house. I race inside, still clutching the bag of potatoes. I slam the door closed, my heart still pounding. A weight instantly lurches me to the side, screaming "SETOOOOOOO". I land on my stomach, with Abigail perched on my back. The potatoes dig into my gut, and my small frame has the oxygen forced from its lungs.

"Abigail! Your crushing poor Seto! Let him breath for once", Aunt Lucy says with an amused smile. Abigail gets off, and I'm free to roll off of the raw potatoes. "I got the potatoes you wanted. Though, they may be a little smushed now", I say. "Oh, thank you sweetie. You dint have to wander off and do chores on your last day of freedom", Aunt Lucy replies. I hand her the potatoes, using my left arm at the last minute. I don't want to find out if she'll freak out too. Aunt Lucy takes the potatoes into the pantry, and Abigail immediately grabs my arm. "Seto, what's the pretty purple thing on your arm?", she says while pulling my arm out from underneath my cloak. I panic, until Abigail smile while looking up at me. So the armband doesn't scare her? I wonder why Mr. Murfy and the other lady were acting so weird. Abigail tugs on my arm to come play with her, and thoughts of secret conspiracies leave my mind.
