Chapter Seven
(Seto's POV)
"So Seto, now that introductions are over, maybe you could help us with something", Mitch declares, "Should we have boring apples for lunch, or go hunt down a pig!". Mitch odiously wants to find a pig........ but I don't know how long it will take him to catch it. "Depends if you think you can catch it in less then an hour", I reply. JeromeASF laughs again, and Mitch rolls his eyes. "Apples it is", says Jason through his spacesuit. He hands us all an apple, and I awkwardly sit with them.
"Hey Seto, where are you heading? There's a village not too far from here", Deadlox asks. I stiffen up, and Sky puts in "We're heading to Roanoke, if you want to come with us". "I don't really know where I'm going", I say. Sky shifts his weight, and I'd almost think he looks guilty. "How about you stay with us for tonight, and if you really want to go, you can decide tomorrow. I want to recheck your wounds before you go", Husky says. I nod in agreement, and Husky is instantly sitting next to me. "It looks like the cut on your neck is healed, which should of taken another day", he mumbles, "The only other major wound is the one on your leg, which is significantly smaller then yesterday, but not fully healed.............. and the rest of you is one big bruise". I had a cut on my neck? I didn't even know. And how did it heal in less then 24 hours?
As my mind goes back 24 hours, one thought pushes to the front of my mind. Abigail. I really miss her. I've never been apart from her for more then a day. What does the village think of me now? What if Abigail tries to defend me!? The panicked must of showed on my face, because Deadlox nudges me with his elbow. "Seto, you ok? Why do you look so scared", he asks. "It's my sister", I hesitantly reply, "I really miss her, and I'm afraid that she's going to look for me". "We can help you find her! That way she doesn't get hurt.", Mitch says. What do I say to that!? I don't even know what's wrong with me. I'm a danger to anyone who gets near. "That's ok. I-I'll find her......... later", I stumble.
An awkward silence fall on us as the sun starts to set. (I know it was just morning, roll with it) One by one, everybody excuses themselves from the fire and goes to bed. Pretty soon, it's just Sky and I. He looks really uncomfortable, like he has a giant secret. I feel bad if he doesn't like to talk about, but he looks like he's about to explode. Before I can ask, he says, "Do you have an armband? I thought I saw you wearing one earlier.", "To be honest, I forgot I was wearing it. I guess it feels natural", I say while looking down at the metal wrapped around my right arm. The silence sinks in again like a blanket.
Sky suddenly stands up, and motions for me to follow. Like an obedient puppy, I stand up and trace his steps behinds him. About ten blocks away from camp, he pulls out a small book wrapped in leather with a silver clasp.
