Songbird's POV
"You have a dog? She is so cute!" I said as I crouched down to pet the small poodle. Her fur was curly with a soft coffee color. "What is her name?"
"Name?" Tàiyáng asked absently as he filled the dog bowls with food and water.
"You didn't name her?!" I stopped rubbing the small puppy's belly and stared up at him in disbelief. Tàiyáng stopped pouring the doggie kibble, and looked up at me. "If you want, you could name her for me?"
"Really?" I asked excitedly. What should I call her?
"Why don't you think it over while we go to our date?"
"Okay! Where are we going?"
"Sēnlín said I could borrow his car for this special event." Tàiyáng winked at me as he grabbed a set of keys. Saying goodbye to the puppy, Tàiyáng grabbed my hand before leading me to a somewhat older car.
This will be our first official date after Tàiyáng confessed to me. After exercising my leg muscles and succeeding in walking again, Tàiyáng asked me out on a date! Best reward ever!
Getting in the car, Tàiyáng smoothly maneuvered the car through the busy city. Once we escaped the traffic, Tàiyáng handed me his phone and asked me to play some music. Scrolling through his play list, I spotted a band that recently debuted called NCT 127. The whole car echoed of sweet music as we continued on our journey.
Rolling the windows down, the wind played with our air as we cruised down the highway.
"Dàngāo." (Biscuit or cake)
"Dàngāo?"
"Yep, doesn't it sound cute?"
".......if the name makes you happy....then Yes. It sounds...cute." Tàiyáng smiled at me as he controlled the steering wheel with one hand and held my hand with the other.
Easing the car onto a gravel parking lot, Tàiyáng opens the door for me and helps me out, since I was still a little unsteady on my feet. Holding his hand up for me to wait, he takes out two bags from the back of the car and resumes to take my hand in the other. We walk down a small trailway that allowed us to see the beautiful trees in bloom. It was summer time and the sound of the summer cicadas surrounded us like a thick blanket.
Taking our time, the grassy pathway led us to a hidden creak. It was beautiful and no one was around.
"A good friend of mine showed me how to do this when we were young." Setting the bags down, he crouched down and took out two containers filled with water. "In order to keep the drinks cold, you just place them in the water here and secure them with the rocks. That way their temperature will stay constant with the creak's temperature." Taking our shoes off, we trenched into the cold clear water and looked down at our toes as fish swam mischievously around us. Wading into deeper water, I safely secured the water filled containers like Tàiyáng instructed me.
"Now, we take this" Tàiyáng shows me a big watermelon. "And we put it in the water as well, but we surround it with bigger rocks so it won't float away."
After we finished, we begin to playfully splashing water at each other in order to cool off from the glaring, summer sun. Our screams and laughter echoed around us as we were able to really enjoy ourselves and not have a care in the world.
Later we made a fire in order to cook the fish that we caught. Afterwards, we played a game where one person is blindfolded and gets spun around. And with a big stick you hit the watermelon open. Going first, Tàiyáng spun me around until I was dizzy and disoriented. When he finally let me go, I carefully looked for the watermelon by tapping the ground with the stick.
Stumbling a little since the whole world tilted underneath the blindfold, I hit something hard. Raising my stick, I swung with all my might, but the stick cracked from the impact. The sound of Tàiyáng bursting into laughter made me take my blindoff off. Looking around, I noticed that I had walked away from the watermelon and ended up hitting a boulder instead.
When it was Tàiyáng's turn, I secretly moved the watermelon from it's original place before I spun him in revenge.
I couldn't help but giggle as I watch Tàiyáng struggle to find the watermelon. When his stick found the watermelon, Tàiyáng smiled as he lift the stick up into the air and then slammed it down onto the watermelon. Taking his blindfold off, he laughed when he found out that I had moved the watermelon.
He began to playfully chase me as I sprinted for the creak. Grabbing me by the waist, he spun me around as my side hurt from laughing so much. After we were finished goofing off in the water, we trudged back onto the damp ground. Sitting down on some boulders that were covered in moss, we ate our watermelon pieces underneath the shade that majestic trees cast upon us.
"I have a question to ask."
I nodded my head before I spit out the watermelon seeds onto the moist, dirt ground.
"Do you mind if it's personal?"
I turn to him in surprise. "No, I'm okay with it. It would probably help strengthen our bond with each other." I thought out loud as I looked up at him. His wet hair looked darker as his liquid eyes enveloped me with warmth.
"Do you have any memories of your family?"
I slowly nodded my head. "Some, mostly of my older brother."
"Can you tell me more about him? Did he...die?"
"Now that I regained most of memories, I realize that they weren't as pretty as I thouht they were. My parents were always gone, come to think bout it, I think alk of the adults were gone most of the time. Since their bodies were stronger, they probably underwent more experiemnt than the kids. After my brother turned eighteen, he had to go in for more tests. He kept talking about the pain... " I said as I delved deeper into my own thoughts. Feeling a hand gently carress my own, I'm startled at the sudden touch.
"You can tell me if you want." He softly suggested. "It might help you feel better."
Smiling, I slightly squeeze his hand before I reminescenced with him of the sweet memories I shared of my Gege.
"I was always afraid of the dark, so he would lay on the floor in my room until I would fall asleep. He always knew how I was feeling and he acted like my caregiver. I never really noticed how bad his pain was until he began talking about escaping...." My voice drifted off
He was the moon of my life that guided me in the nightsky of fear and gave me the stars of memories to help light my way. But when my only source of light left me, I was covered in darkness....... until one day I was introduced to another light. The Sun.
Tàiyáng wrapped me in his arms as my eyes glazed over from the memory. "Him leaving me was bad enough, but to not say goodbye after all we had been through....it hurt...a lot."
Resting his chin on my head Tàiyáng consoled me when I disclosed my past. "Thank you for telling me." We stayed in that position for a while and the rest of the questions that Tàiyáng asked me steered clear of my past.
As we watch the sky slowly die, dark clouds began to infiltrate our once beautiful scenery. Instead of getting worried, Tàiyáng nimbly jumps off of the rock and fumbles through his bag.
Pulling two, thin sticks out, he motions for me to come to him. Curious, my legs wobble a bit before I safely climbed down the rock. By the time I reach Tàiyáng, he had already lit the stickw with fire. Handing me the crackling stick, I looked at it in awe as the burning light contrasted against the dark.
"With these sparklers, anything you write will be sealed into the sky as if the world is accepting the words that we write and waits until the promises are fulfilled. Try it!" Tàiyáng said excitedly.
Giggling, I swirl my stick around like a wand and carfully write the promises that were already imprinted in my heart. Now they are imprinted in the air never to be taken back.
I carefully traced the words that formed on my lips.
"I ...l..ove ..... Tàiyáng."
Laughing at each other's antics, we continue to write promises and wishes with our sparklers until the sky opened up and a blanket of rain showered upon our happy moment. The pouring rain snuffed our only light out. Grabbing our stuff, Tàiyáng grabs my hand and we quickly run to the car for shelter. The rain made the path slippery, but Tàiyáng hand held me steady as we climbed up the trail.
When we safely made our way to the car, Tàiyáng hands me a towel to dry off with. "I don't want you to catch a cold...." he said as he carefully dryes his hair. Mesmorized, I watch as Tàiyáng dried himself off. Right underneath the back of his neck, I spotted what looked to be a tattoo, but I couldn't make out what shape it was. When he catches me staring, he shoots a comment towards my way causing me to blush.
"I know I'm handsome, but can you please stop staring at me? It's making me uncomfortable." He joked as he started the engine.
I grin back at him. "You wish!"

This is a happy chapter. <3 What do you think of their first date? To be honest...this chapter wasn't my best so I will try harder when my mind isn't on exams and such. I still hope you enjoyed this chapter though. And in two weeks I will publish the first official chapter of my new book called The Promise We Made Underneath the Stars.
