Chapter 44

A/N I would have posted this last night, but  either Wattpad, or my wifi was being a royal pain in the podex because the page was being so slow to load that I didn't have the patience to wait for it. Anyway  you may be surprised by what Luke does in this chapter.  Enjoy 😀

Luke's point of view

The ceremony continued, next was Nico di Angelo, he honestly had no idea what he wanted, so his father made an offer that he couldn't refuse. Nico di Angelo became his father's heir, if his father ever faded, Nico would take his place as lord of the underworld. Thalia was given full immortality, I was surprised when they gave Annabeth Chase a wish, and I got the feeling that she was just as surprised as I was. Instead of stating exactly what she wanted, she asked a question. She asked "Can you remove another god's blessing after it has been given?"

Confusion coloured everyone's faces after she asked that question. Athena asked "Of course, but who blessed you? Why would you wish to remove it?" Annabeth's next statement shocked us all. She said "Tartarus blessed me, and I want to be rid of that darkness." For a moment we all stared at her completely stunned. But finally the gods snapped out of it and they all stood seeming even more intimidating standing twelve feet tall towering over everyone in the room, along with the immense auras of power that could be felt from them. The gods began to chant in ancient Greek, and a beam of light shot toward Annabeth, when the light hit her she seemed to wobble on her feet, but she regained her balance quickly. After fulfilling Annabeth's wish the gods looked rather tired, but then again removing a primordial's blessing probably would take a lot of energy.

I honestly had no idea what I would ask for once they got to me, I was content with my lot, and there really wasn't anything I wanted from them. I didn't need to be immortal I was content with my life as it was. I hadn't decided yet whether I wanted to go back to school in the fall or if I wanted to stay at camp, I got the feeling that no matter what I chose my dad would be looking out for me, watching, caring, and visiting when he could. I knew this because the more I saw him I came to realize just how much he cared.

I had seen obvious remorse on his face for leaving me and my mom even though it had been necessary to keep us safe. I'm pretty sure that dad had kept time at is normal pace, but it felt like it was going faster than usual. Because before long my dad said "Luke Smith, My Son." I thought it best to bow to Zeus before going to my father. As everyone else had I knelt at my father's feet, but he said "Stand Luke, there is no need for such formalities with me." As he said that he rose from his throne and shrunk down to the height of a normal man. He said "Luke you may have only learned of me a few weeks ago, but you have adapted to the life of a demigod. No matter the situation you fought bravely. You played a large role in this war, you went on a quest to rescue Piper and Persephone, you defeated a Titan..." one of the demigods piped up saying "Two Titans." I guess they knew enough about my dad to know that they could get away with interrupting him. He continued saying "You also defeated giants, and numerous monsters. If you are anything like me you are probably blaming yourself for at least some of the heroes we lost. I'm going to tell you that you shouldn't be. There was nothing you could have done to change what happened, as much as we may want to we cannot alter fate.

As my father spoke, I did listen, but I was also trying to come up with something to ask them for since I knew that he would get to asking me that soon enough. Sure enough, he said "Luke what is your wish?" in response I said "Honestly dad I don't need anything, I am content with my life as it is. I only did what anyone in my position should have done." My words surprised him slightly, but before he could say anything I continued in a voice that I hoped only he and I could hear I said "Dad I'm fine, but I know that you and mom aren't.

I can tell how much you miss each other. Go back to her, and be with her." A surprised look crossed my father's face before he said "In order for the relationship to last I would have to make her my immortal wife. If I do that you would have to stay at camp all the time since you wouldn't be able to stay with us, and you wouldn't be able to see your mother as often either since she would also be bound by the ancient laws." I nodded understanding and said "Dad I get that but for a while now I've known that she wasn't completely happy. I know that she loves me and did everything she could to support us, but I could also tell how much she still missed you. Due to the fact that I ended up looking so much like you I was also kind of a reminder of what she had lost. I don't think she will be truly happy unless she is with you.

My dad spoke up, he said "To be honest with you Son I already asked her, but we were going to wait until you were older so if you wanted it we were going to give you as normal a life as a demigod can get." I said "I appreciate that dad but I'll be fine at camp, at least there I won't have to put up with idiots like Sloan." I didn't realize I had said that last part aloud until my dad said "Sloan?" "The school bully." I replied quickly, and then I said "regardless I take that statement back, some of the Ares and Zeus kids are kind of like him."

My dad laughed at that. He said "You still deserve something." I said "Dad really I'm fine." He remained silent possibly thinking. My dad once again speaking in an undertone said "Luke Hades and I have come to an agreement, If you want to, Hades will allow you to visit Christina in Elysium, I figured that you were probably beating yourself up about her death, so I thought that she would be able to knock some sense into you."

"Hey!" I protested he chuckled and then raised an eyebrow saying "Oh so you're not blaming yourself then?" I didn't respond, he had got me, I had been blaming myself. Zeus cleared his throat again indicating that we were taking too long. My dad said "That's what I thought. So will you accept?" I nodded. He returned to his twelve foot tall from and once again sat in his throne. I sat at his feet as the rest of the demigods received their rewards.

Once everyone had received their rewards Apollo and Hermes stood from their thrones and shrunk to human size, lastly they shouted "Party!" A few people cheered in excitement, others rolled their eyes at the two's antics. Dionysus perked up, apparently Parties on Olympus are one of the only times he's allowed to drink.

With a wave of their hands Apollo and Hermes made decorations and food and drink tables appear, music also started to play. Everyone wandered off to take part in the celebrations, I grabbed some food, but I wasn't really in the mood to celebrate, there was just too much on my mind. I thought about leaving but before I could my dad walked up to me.

"Not Celebrating?" I asked him "Not really in the mood." He said shrugging. I nodded in response. That was when Apollo wandered over to us. Glancing at my dad he said "Come on Cuz what are you doing just standing around?" My dad replied "Sorry Apollo not really in the mood right now." He sighed but then he said obviously talking about me "When you called him Over, I half expected him to point out something were doing wrong, and make us swear on the river Styx to fix it." My dad chuckled at his comment I didn't get what was so funny about it but I said "If you want me to point out something you could fix, you could change the elevator music. Most of those songs are pretty old."

My dad laughed again saying between laughs "I've been meaning to mention that, but since I don't use the elevator anymore I never think of It." after that Apollo huffed and walked away back toward the celebrations. To be honest I still had so many questions for my dad, and everything that happened just seemed to add more to the list, I decided that since we were no longer on high alert, waiting to be attacked, I figured I could finally get some answers. I looked at my dad and asked, "Can we talk somewhere less noisy?" he nodded and began leading me away from the celebrations.
