Chapter 37

Luke's Point of view

After I finished talking to Hermes I ended up crashing on one of the beds, I was still thinking about everything he had told me, before long though I fell asleep. As you might expect I had a dream, it showed the same abandoned warehouse as before, but instead of two titans talking it was Kronos and what looked like a dracna. The dracna said "My lord we were unable to defeat them and enter the city."

"Why I provided enough forces how did they manage to defeat Perses and Anastasius!" Kronos asked angrily. based on his tone I would guess he was pretty mad and I figured that the dracna might not be alive much longer. She said "they had help sir." "Perseus?" Kronos asked "The entire Olympian council excluding Hestia." She corrected, "It seems that they also had Romans and centaurs helping them as well." She finished rather nervous.

I would guess that Kronos was furious since he banged his scythe against the ground and then said in an angry tone "it seems I will have to take matters into my own hands, tomorrow I will lead our forces into battle, and I will take some of the strongest members of our forces with me." still angry over today's failure he swung his scythe and the dracna was no more. After that the dream ended and I woke with a start, but I dozed off again and slept peacefully the rest of the night. The next morning we were once again preparing for battle, once we were ready I told my dad about my latest dream he seemed unsurprised he also informed the others of what I had told him. If he was worried he didn't let it show on his face.

Everyone who was still able to fight gathered and headed to the different entrances to the city. There is no way we can let them get through. When we were in position we waited for the inevitable battle that was to come, not quite sure what to expect when it started.

Before long we could see our enemies approaching, at the front of the enemy force was Kronos as we expected, there was also a strange woman who looked human from a distance but I knew that there was no way she could be human. Beside her walked a creature that had the head of a lion, and if I wasn't mistaken it also had the body of a goat.

I had heard of a creature like that in the myths, but it took a minute before I remembered it. If you are wondering how I figure out what the monsters are so quickly, it is because my mom taught me many of the Greek myths. At the time I had just assumed that she did it because it was something she was interested in and she wanted to share her interest with me.

Now though I realize that might have only been part of her reason, the main reason was probably that she was doing what she could to prepare me for life as a demigod. So do to my knowledge of the myths, I figured out what the monster was. We would be facing the chimera, great I thought to myself. When the enemy army reached us Kronos spoke, he said "Surrender now and we will let you live. My dad made a sound of amusement in response, he said "Yeah sure you always say that, but I get the feeling that you are always lying. You would probably kill all the demigods, and basically everything else on the earth and throw all the gods in Tartarus, after all you're not called the crooked one for nothing."

Not agreeing with or denying my father's statement Kronos said "I would think you would take the deal, because if you oppose us, and we emerge from this war victorious, that is exactly where you would go, and I get the feeling that you would rather not go back there, after all you unlike most know the true horrors of that place."

My father's face had been expressionless up until that moment, but I thought I saw his blank expression waver slightly, and I'm pretty sure a shiver went down his spine as if bad memories that he had tried to put behind him had surfaced. I thought to myself that there was no way he could have actually been down there was there?

The myths about Tartarus varied but they made one thing quite clear it wasn't a place that you would want to visit. After my dad regained his composure he said "We will not surrender, we won't doom the entire mortal world to years of torture under Tartarus's reign." After that statement the enemy army attacked Kronos headed specifically for my dad while the monsters attacked us.

I defeated several monsters before noticing a group of demigods who were having a difficult time against the chimera, and that strange woman who I had seen earlier. I still hadn't figured out who she was but right then she wasn't the problem, the chimera was. I headed that way to help them. If Christina was here right now she would be trying to talk me out of it trying to stop me from taking on such a powerful monster, but sadly she isn't here and I'm going to help those demigods before they become the next casualties.

Kronos's point of view (didn't see this coming did you?)

There was no way I can let those foolish Olympians and their children defeat me again, we have forces headed to every entrance into the city, one of which is led by Porphyrion, the others are being led by demigods who have turned on their parents for reasons of their own.

The fact that the Olympians are helping this time though is going to make things more difficult, and no doubt Perseus will be a problem. He has been a thorn in my side ever since he learned of his demigod heritage. Now he is immortal he hasn't been able to interfere as much with my plans, but now there seems to be a new demigod fulfilling his role of being the hero that seems to ruin every plan. I have not yet learned the boy's name, since every monster who had faced him has fallen to his sword.

Of all the domains Perseus could have gotten when he became a god he had to end up with mine. there is no way I am going to let Perseus defeat me again, I have been controlling time for centuries he has only been doing it for a few years. His inexperience will cost him I will make sure of that.

One of the telekhines walked over to me he said that he had heard from one of the laistrygonian giants that the boy that has been defeating so many of our forces including my brother Krios, as well as Perses was Perseus's only demigod son who was apparently named after the son of Hermes who helped me rise the last time.

I should have guessed that. The demigods in our forces described him as looking a lot like Perseus, and only he could be that much of a nuisance. As we got closer to the entrances to the city I could see that the gods' forces were already in position waiting for us to arrive, I also noticed that the one leading this particular force was Perseus.

When we were close enough I offered him the chance to surrender, but as expected he refused. When we defeat them he will live to regret that decision. After he refused our forces clashed. I headed straight for Perseus and I am not going to let him defeat me again. I swung at him with my scythe but he deflected the blow with his sword. I aimed another blow at him, but he jumped back avoiding it.

We fought for a while trying to hit each other but failing. I guess I might as well test his abilities with time, although if we try to use time against each other too much then it could cause problems. It seemed that he must have been trying to speed himself up while I was trying to slow him down. I figured that since I should be more powerful than him I should be able to win out in this, but instead he succeeded in speeding up time, he lashed out at me with several quick blows which I did block. He seemed more powerful than I had expected him to be, and I couldn't understand why. He was nearly as if not just as powerful as me when it came to my domain. We continued to fight trying to find weaknesses in the other's defences. We mostly refrained from manipulating time due to the affect it could have. At one point he said "Bit more of a challenge now aren't I gramps?" I didn't answer I was still trying to figure out why he was so powerful.

Based on what I have seen so far I think that he is more powerful than all the other Olympians, and that annoyed me to no end. After we exchanged several more blows I said "You will regret not surrendering Perseus, when we defeat you, I will make sure that you and everyone you care about suffers, including that boy of yours.

If I'm not mistaken we have already taken from you one person you care about, we can take Luke too." He managed to maintain a calm expression but I'm pretty sure I saw fear or in the least worry in his eyes. Not long after though I saw the fear be replaced with determination and instead of replying he sped up time around him once again and lashed out with several more blows.
