Chapter 34

Luke's Point of view

After I noticed the titan I thought that someone would have to deal with him, my dad wasn't here at the moment and if someone doesn't fight him he could cause a lot of damage. I fought my way toward him and when I reached him he said "Foolish demigod do you really think you can defeat me, I am Perses Titan of destruction."

I didn't bother replying I just swung my sword. after fighting for a while Perses said "I'm surprised demigod, you've lasted longer than I expected who is your parent, Zeus? Ares?" after I blocked a blow that was aimed for my chest I smirked and said "No my father is Perseus."

He seemed slightly surprised but then he said "I never faced your father myself, I remained neutral in the last war, but I heard how he defeated so many of my relatives." That made me wonder how many titans he had defeated. After we exchanged a few more blows he spoke again he said "It doesn't matter who your father is you won't defeat me demigod."

He had the longer sword so I knew I had to get closer, I blocked a cut aimed for my head, parried a strike toward my side after a while I realized I would have to use my powers to beat him otherwise I might get tired out before I land a hit on him. I slowed time around his arms so it was like he was trying to move through syrup.

I couldn't freeze him completely, he's still a titan after all. Obviously he was surprised when it was suddenly harder to move his sword arm. Before aiming another strike at him I said "did you forget what my dad is god of, because in case you did, two of his domains are Time, and swordsmanship." Then I struck he managed to block a few more of my blows even with time slowed but before too long I slipped past his guard and my sword met his hilt and I twisted.

Next thing I heard was a loud clang when the titan's sword met the pavement. And the next thing I saw was a shocked looking titan, the look on his face made me want to laugh but I said "so what were you saying about me not being able to defeat you?" I swung my sword and stabbed the shocked titan in the chest.

Once he was gone I let my control over time end, then I defeated a few more monsters. I thought about the disarming technique I had used, it was the first time I had used it but then again I don't usually have to be taught sword techniques in order to use them, half the time when I'm in a fight I will find myself using a technique for the first time.

It wasn't the fact that it was the first time I had used it that I was thinking about, it was how it felt to use it. It was like it just felt right to use it. I had the feeling that now that I knew it I will be using it a lot more. I fought for a while longer but Tartarus's forces were nearly defeated, they had begun retreating, heading back the way they had come, but suddenly it's hard to describe, but it was like the monsters were given an extra boost of energy or something, because they stopped retreating and fought with renewed confidence. What's worse is that seconds later some of our allies suddenly turned and started attacking the rest of us. And just my luck I was in the middle of the crowd of demigods who suddenly turned on us, why I wasn't affected I have no clue but I wasn't complaining either.

I fought my way out of the mob of campers knocking them out like I had any enemy demigods. After I fought my way out of the chaos, that's when I looked over the side of the bridge and saw that at the end of the bridge where we had started from my father and grandfather were standing facing a giant. Based on his appearance I assumed that he was my father's giant.

My dad seemed to be concentrating on something, and then the giant swung his sword at him. My dad was about to block it but my grandfather was faster, he blocked the blow with his trident. After that my dad seemed to be concentrating again while my grandfather fought the giant. I knew that they would need a demigod's help

I glanced back at the rest of our forces on the bridge the ones that had been affected by whatever just happened looked like they were coming out of trance, well the ones that weren't knocked out anyway. Once they were back to themselves they once again attacked the few remaining monsters.

I decided that I would go help my dad and my grandfather with the giant, I knew that my dad wouldn't exactly be pleased with me helping since he seems to try and keep me out of danger as much as possible even though he told me himself that demigods' lives are dangerous. I started toward the other end of the bridge, where the fight with the giant was still going on. When I got there I ran over and stabbed the giant in the leg, although I think all that did was make him angrier and unfortunately it also drew my dad's attention away from the giant.

Jason's point of view

After we had finished off the last of the monsters I told the demigods to head back and get some rest. I knew that the battles were far from over, we would probably be faced with more of Tartarus's forces tomorrow. It was when I was turning to head back myself that I noticed Percy and Poseidon fighting a giant I knew that he wasn't one of the giants I had seen during the second giant war, so I realized that he was one of the new giants, Percy's giant.

I had noticed when Percy left the bridge but I hadn't tried to figure out why since up until a few minutes ago I was too busy fighting. I had been planning on taking on that titan that I had seen on the bridge, but by the time I had dealt with the group of monsters I was facing the titan was already defeated, the only sign he had even been there was his sword that was lying on the ground where he had been.

I couldn't help but be curious who had defeated him, not just anyone can take on a titan and live. I noticed that there was a demigod in armor heading toward the gods and giant. I couldn't tell who the demigod was but I figured I could help bring this battle to an end faster.

I made Tempest fly over to the ongoing battle just before I got there the demigod must have stabbed the giant in the leg because the giant's face changed from smug to angry and he swung his huge sword toward the demigod. thankfully the demigod quickly moved out of the way.

The giant appeared to be Percy's match at swordsmanship witch made sense since he had been created to defeat Percy. I also noticed that the giant's hair was braided with swords so I called down lightning, it didn't kill him but it might have weakened him enough that Percy can slip past his guard and actually land a hit on him.

Percy continued fighting the giant while Tempest and I continued to fly around the giant, every so often we would swoop in and stab him in one place or another. The demigod began firing arrows at the giant he swatted some away, but some he didn't. After exchanging several more blows Percy slipped past the giant's guard and defeated him. Hopefully for good, but with Percy's luck probably not.

Percy and Poseidon shrunk down to the size of normal men and I told Tempest to land and not go anywhere. After we landed I walked over to Percy and the others, now that I was on the ground I could tell that the demigod that had been helping Percy on the ground was his son Luke. During my time at camp half-blood I had been told the stories of what Percy and the rest of camp half-blood had done during the second titan war, so I knew who Percy had named Luke after and understood why.

I knew that Percy had found someone else after Annabeth left him, but I had only found out about Luke when everyone else at camp did. The day Luke arrived and Percy claimed him. I was kind of surprised to be honest, it's not that I didn't think that Luke was Percy's son, it's because Percy had seemed pretty apprehensive about the whole idea of having a relationship with a mortal because he didn't want to have to leave them. obviously he had gotten past that though.

As I walked up to them Percy said "Thanks for the help Jason." I responded "Anytime Bro" I think that Luke was a bit surprised that we were being so casual. After all Percy is a god, and usually you have to be careful what you say around them, but not Percy. After he had accepted godhood he had insisted that all his closest friends treat him the same way that we always had.

After that Percy looked at Poseidon and said "Thanks for the help Dad" Poseidon responded "You would have done the same for me" Percy shrugged and said "Probably." It was obvious that now that they could see each other more often that they had gotten closer and that their relationship was as close to a normal father son relationship as you can get when those involved are a god and his son who is also a god.

After that Percy turned to Luke and sighed, he said "why is it that every time I'm fighting a giant you're the first one to come running to help?" Poseidon chuckled and said "Probably the same reason why for 12 years you wished you could visit him." Percy responded "I know Dad I know."

Then Percy turned to me and Luke and asked, "Did either of you..." "Go crazy for a moment and turn on our friends, no" I finished for him. Luke shook his head and said "No I was in the group that did, but for some reason I didn't do it." Percy glanced at Poseidon for a moment as if wondering if they had both had the same thought. I asked "Do you know why they did that, turn on us and then suddenly go back to normal?" So Percy explained and then Luke asked "If he manipulated everyone around me why wasn't I affected?" Percy said "The reason why you weren't affected is because I'm guessing that your fatal flaw is loyalty, mine was as well which is probably why I ended up with loyalty as one of my domains." "Fatal flaw?" Luke questioned, Percy explained to Luke about fatal flaws and then he looked at me and said "We should probably head back, I'm sure your dad will love to hear that I have powers that he didn't know about.
