Chapter 21

Percy's point of view

I was pacing in my living room, I just wish that I could help Luke and his friends with their quest, but quests are one of the few times I can't interfere with a demigod. The fact that my own son was on this quest only made the fact that I have to sit back and do nothing worse.

I watched as Luke and his friends Scooter and Hudson discussed their next move, as I watched they were ambushed by a force of monsters led by two demigods, one of which I knew all too well. The force was led by Annabeth, and Demetrius a son of Hermes.

I watched worriedly as they were fighting the monsters, and Annabeth and Demetrius. I knew that they wouldn't win this fight there were far too many enemies and Luke was the only one fighting the monsters the son of Nike and the son of Hades were preoccupied with Annabeth and Demetrius. But my hope was restored when a familiar titan appeared out of nowhere and helped them.

A slight smile crossed my face when Bob said that he helped them because he is a good titan and because Luke reminded him of a friend. When he said that I assumed he meant me. Tartarus had obviously brought him back hoping he could convince him to work for him. Obviously, he had failed and Bob had escaped. I would have to visit him and thank him for helping Luke when this is all over.

I couldn't help but chuckle at the complete and utter confusion on the three demigod's faces as Bob spoke to them. Ever since Bob had helped Annabeth and me escape Tartarus I had blamed myself since I knew that Tartarus had probably killed him for helping us escape. Bob transported Luke and the others to Alcatraz, so that's where they are, I thought to myself.

I'm sure I paled dramatically when I saw that there was absolutely no-one on Alcatraz besides Luke, His friends, Bob, and the monsters and whatever else was guarding Persephone and Piper. The worst thing was who was guarding the entrance to the Prison hopefully, they would find a way to get past them and free the goddesses without dying on me.

I wasn't sure how they would manage it considering what they are up against, I really didn't know how they would get out of this one, since Ephialtes and Otis the twin giants and together the bane of Dionysus were guarding the entrance to the Prison. I wanted to go down and help them but I knew that if I did I would be breaking several ancient laws and as much as I hate the ancient laws I have to abide by them.

At least until I can try and talk some sense into Zeus and possibly get him to remove some of them. If gods could pray I would have right then and there since I don't know if Bob would be close enough to a god to help them defeat the giants. If they didn't defeat the two giants their quest might just fail.

Piper's Point of view

I can't believe that I let myself get captured; I'm not sure how long we have been in here. The hours have just blurred together so we could have just been in here for a day or two or it could be a week. I have tried to escape but it's pointless, our shackles suck our power and energy right out of us. Apparently, Tartarus wants to use our power and his own to create two new giants one to oppose me and the other for Percy.

At first, I was just shackled to the wall, but they soon remembered that I could talk people into doing just about anything and they soon gagged me after I made a couple of attempts to talk the guards into letting us go. I suspect that a quest has been issued to find us by now, but I hate having to accept help from others especially since I became a goddess, I hate being the damsel in distress, that has to be rescued I would rather escape myself.

But that seems impossible. If I could get out of these shackles I would still be in trouble since I would also have to break out Persephone, and it would take a little while before my power gets back to where it should be. Suddenly I heard loud noises coming down the hallway towards us, monsters were heading toward the entrance to the building. The quest must be here I thought to myself.

Luke's Point of view

After we arrived on Alcatraz it was clear to me that there was no-one here except for the various monsters and others that were here to guard the goddesses. We discussed what to do next since we needed a god due to the fact that two giants that looked like twins were guarding the entrance. I suggested that I try and get in alone but they shot that Idea down quickly and asked me if I had a death wish, I didn't so I didn't argue any further. Hudson said that he would be able to shadow travel himself and one other Person inside. In the end, Bob/Iapetus whatever would stay and distract the giants with Scooter.

Together they might be able to defeat them if a titan is close enough to a god, but I had the feeling that we wouldn't be that lucky. I hoped that the goddesses would have enough energy that they would be able to help us defeat them on the way out. So after this we shadow traveled inside, we started walking down the hallway and then we heard monsters coming toward us and lots of them too.

We leaned against one of the walls hoping they would walk past us but no such luck, even before they were close enough to see us a voice said "I smell Half-blood," and the creatures came toward us at an even faster pace than before.

I hadn't gotten my sword out yet hoping they would pass by us but when they smelled us I immediately tapped my ring and pressed the button on my watch.

I had a sword in my hand and a shield on my arm. The monsters came at us there were many of them cyclopses, telekhines, Hellhounds, Laistrygonians, empousai, dracnae, and there were also a few enemy demigods. Hudson summoned a few of the dead to help us out but this certainly wouldn't be easy. Our weapons clashed as we fought, I couldn't help but wonder if the others were okay, I didn't really want us to split up but the others had agreed that it was the best plan and Bob had assured us that they would be fine so had Scooter. We fought our way down the hallway hoping we would find the cell where the goddesses were being held. For a moment the mist obscured what an empousa really looked like and I nearly fell under her spell, but Hudson got me to snap out of it and I saw her for what she really was and killed her before she could fool me again.
