MELODY'S POV

I wake up, and walk downstairs to eat breakfast.

I heard mom and dad talking in the kitchen.

"I... don't even know why we even had kids..." Said my dad. "We're never even home..."

"Percy, we're home all the time. Enough to support her." That's a lie. They're never home. EVER. Ninety nine percent of the time, I'm with grandma and grandpa, home alone, or with Jack, who I haven't talked to in a month. He had got his surgery, but he'll be mute for another whole month. He's going back to school today, but I don't care. I'm still mad at him... something's up. I know it. He's been talking to nothingness, and he's been making gestures with air... I think he's just messed up or something. Or maybe he is delusional, or he's just doing related to Hades stuff...

"No! No we're not. On her sixth grade graduation, we weren't there. We've been to only ONE of her concerts! You barely know her. I barely know her. She barely knows us..."

"Percy! Don't say that!"

"I think... I think I should be an at home dad. No more quests."

"Wh-"

"No. I've decided. I want to know my daughter! I want to support her and be a part of her life."

"Okay." Says mom.

I walk back to my room, smiling. Dad cares! 

I hear my door crack open. It's my dad...

"Hey, dad."

"Hey. I have some good news." He says, and I do my best 'really?' face.

"I've decided no more quests, because I want to be in your life. I realize that I'm not being a good dad."

"That's great!"

"Are you okay with it?"

"Yes. It's perfect."

"Good. I have to go, though, to eat breakfast. Care to join me?"

"Okay." I say, walking out of the room to eat with him.

JACK'S P.O.V.

I walk alone to school, because Melody doesn't want to talk to me. She's still angry, after a month. I got my surgery, and now I'm ready to go back to school after a month... god I'll be so behind!

During lunch, a kid sits next to me for once.

"Hey! I'm Jackson."

I wave, and he frowns. "What's your name?"

I put my finger to my lips, trying to indicate that I can't talk. He shakes his head.

"No, I won't be quiet, you jerk! God, no wonder you have no friends!" He says, getting up. He punches me in the shoulder, but makes it look like he's just patting it. It hurts a whole lot.

I try to eat, but I'm not hungry. I don't like them, so I draw in the potatoes with my butter knife, making a sad face.

Melody walks into the room, and doesn't meet my eyes. She turns, and sits next to her fellow band members, Rainy, Kyle, Becket, and Nick.

I feel abandoned. She hates me... and now I'm completely alone. I have my parents, who aren't even biological parents. I am trapped into my own world.

A person appears next to me. He has chocolate colored hair, that's long like mine. His skin has a decent tan. He has a kind smile. He looks about my age.

"Hey! You must be Jack." He says, smiling. I nod.

"Yeah... you're mute. I know you, and I have since you were young. Remember me?"

I wrack my brain for someone like him, then remember when I was really young, like three. I had been walking around the park, alone. My dad and papa were both gone, I had lost them. I was completely lost, and there were tears in my eyes. I felt alone, like I would never find my papa and 'daddy'. I saw another boy, who stuck with me to find my parents, who were looking for me. He told me that I wasn't alone, and whenever I needed him most, he would come. More memories came back of him, sitting there in the background.

I nod.

"Yeah, I thought you wouldn't. I'm not important... I'm just me."

I understand that. Not thinking you mean anything... 

"Oh, by the way, my name is Daniel."

I smile. I look back over at Melody, who is looking at me like I was talking to no one. Like he didn't exist...
