Bert's P.O.V

The next day I, Jessie, and James took the marathon test.

"Ready set and go," Viper said firing the gun into the air.

We passed all the barriers well and then under the electrical line. Jessie and James looked at each other, but then ran again trying to avoid the traps on the floor. James fell into one of them.

"I'm not gonna wait for you newbie," Jessie said.

"I'm not waiting either," I said while running in front of Jessie.

"Oh don't worry. It will take a lot more than this to slow me down," James said getting out of the trap.

I looked at Jessie and saw a surprised look on her face. I raised an eyebrow confused about why she seems so surprised that James wasn't giving up.

At the end of the marathon, Viper appeared with a Meowth by his side.

"Jessie, Bert, and James meet Meowth the newest member of your team," Viper said pointing at the Meowth.

"Don't be intimidated treat me like one of the gang," Meowth said.

"There's something odd about that pokemon," Jessie said.

I chuckled at the look of confusion on Jessie's face. I wasn't really confused about the talking Meowth. Since I remember hearing my father complaining about an annoying Meowth.

"Yeah I know," James said.

"Hey it can talk," Jessie and James said at the same time.

"Not only that but I'm also a good conversationist, but anyway when's lunch I'm kinda hungry," Meowth said.

"Oh brother," I muttered.

The next day...

"Alright, trainees listen up your next challenge will be to reach a predetermined destination within 24 hours the room is up to you each of you will get one loaf of bread in a single bottle of water good luck," Sergeant Viper said.

Then I, Jessie, James, and Meowth went to get our backpacks.

"Oh so much food," Meowth said smiling and looking at the food.

'Yeah, this Meowth is going to be annoying. Why did you put him with us,'

"Hey if you don't think you can handle the pressure you better let us now," Jessie said.

" You obviously don't know me well typing on hundreds of these missions and nothing I can't hand out," Meowth replied.

"Let's get going the more time we waste talking more will fall behind," James said starting to walk away.

"James is right we should get going now," I said looking back at Jessie and Meowth. They both nodded and follow after me.

We were now in the mountains and we had to go through many obstacles and James was always trying to help Meowth out.

"I can't go on," Meowth complained sitting down on the ground.

"What's the matter?" James asked.

"Besides from sight exhaustion and some intense hungry pain. I'm just fine," Meowth said holding his stomach.

"What about your bread?" James asked.

"It was delicious."

James then took off his backpack and gave his food to Meowth.

"What about you, what if you get hungry?" Meowth asked.

"Go on I insist," James said.

"You are a real friend," Meowth said taking the food.

"I'll take the bottle cap I collect them," James said taking the bottle cap.

I and Jessie saw this from the top of the mountain, and Jessie looked shocked.

'What with that look? Has she never seen anyone be nice before? I really don't understand any of my teammates.'

Nighttime...

I and Jessie were about to eat our bread, but then Jessie stops gives a piece to Meowth.

"Go ahead," Jessie said giving Meowth a piece.

'She actually giving him a piece of her bread. That surprise. She was shocked by James' nice action, but now she doing the same.'

"You're a real friend," Meowth said tasking the piece.

"Hmm," Jessie said to James.

"No thanks," James said.

Then Jessie went over to James and offer the other piece of the bread.

"Come on James take it we're going to need our strength, Jessie said giving James the piece.

"Well I suppose I am just a teeny bit hungry," James said taking the piece.

"Here why don't you have some of mine. A female should eat more than a small piece of bread," I said giving her half of the bread.

We were almost completely asleep. When James spoke up.

"Hey Jessie I've got this feeling," James said.

"Yeah what's that?" Jessie asked.

"Yeah enlighten us," I said with a sigh.

" If you, me, Meowth, and Bert really stay together and I mean really stick together we could make a truly amazing team," James said.

'Would I really want to stay with these guys? I admit Jessie is kind of pretty. So I guess I wouldn't mind staying on a team with her.'

"You really think so?" Jessie asked.

"Yes and maybe even the greatest team in all of Team rocket history," James said.

"Wow I really like the sound of that, but how do I know that I can really count on you?" Jessie asked.

"Sounds like someone has trust issues," I whispered. "It's no wonder she doesn't get along with her partners."

I then began drifting off to sleep not listening to the rest of the conversation.

The next day...

We came across a bridge, but it was falling apart.

'Trying to cross this bridge will be incredibly risky. Looks like my father making this training more difficult now or maybe he didn't know this bridge was falling apart.'

"Which way?" Jessie asked.

"Over that bridge," James and I both said.

"Oh yeah let's do it!" Meowth exclaimed. "On second thought go on ahead, and send a chopper for me later," he said noticing that bridge was falling apart.

"Looks pretty dangerous," James said.

"If we turn back now. We never win this competition," Jessie said. "I go first."

"Jessie right we have to cross it the only way," I said.

"What if I fall!" Meowth yelled hugging a rock. "I can't help it that I'm a coward."

"If you are going to chicken out now. We leave you here and you have to find your own way back," Jessie said annoyed.

"Don't forget we're a team," James said.

"I won't forget. I just hate whining,"  Jessie said.

"Meowth if we're going to be the best. We have to be there for each other even when we're afraid," James said comforting Meowth.

"I suppose so," Meowth replied.

"It's okay. I go out a few steps and see if it is safe," Jessie said.

"Wait!" I called out.

"What is it, Bert?" Jessie asked.

"We're crossing together just to be safe," I started. "I'm not letting you cross a possibly dangerous bridge alone,"  I said holding my hand out to her.

She nodded and grabbed my hand, and were carefully crossed the bridge together. I felt her grip tighten as a piece of the bridge fell in the water.

"It's okay. I won't let you fall," I whispered to her as we almost reached the end of the bridge. She nodded.

Once we got to the other side. It was now James's turn to cross.

"Your turn careful," Jessie said.

So James crossed with Meowth on top of his head, but the bridge began to break.

"Run for it!"  Jessie and I both called out.

"We've got to act fast! I'm sending Meowth over!" James shouted sending Meowth our way. Jessie quickly grabbed his arms, and I grabbed Jessie's waist to help her pull Meowth over.

"Don't worry I won't let go of you," Jessie said.

The bridge then snapped, causing Meowth and James to get hung up by Jessie's hands.

"Just hold on," Jessie said.

"I don't know if I can," James said.

"Don't even think of letting go James," Jessie said. I just pulled harder trying to help Jessie pull them up, but we were having no luck.

"I'm sorry Jessie!" James shouted letting go of Meowth's tail.

"No!!!!!!" Jessie screamed.

"I'm sorry. I should have pulled harder so he wouldn't have fallen," I said placing my hand on her shoulder.

In the Team Rocket infirmary, the doctor was talking to Jessie and me.

"He mumbled something about being back in action, but I don't see that happen anytime soon," the doctor said.

"I see," I said.

"Poor James," Jessie said.

"He better eventually don't worry," I told her.

"Bert right he will get better," The doctor said.

Jessie's P.O.V

"The last test will determine which of you will make the final cut," Drill sergeant Viper started walking to the front of the class. You'll be performing a real-life honest to badness break-in," he said.

Butch and Cassidy both gasped.

"Now I'm sure you are all familiar with this office tower. Your test is to enter and steal a cage containing the legendary red Snorlax. We've determined that security makes its rounds every two hours at exactly midnight one of our helicopters will fly over you will have until that time to retrieve such cage and enter the helicopter," Drill sergeant Viper said. "Any questions?"

"What if we get caught, sir?" Butch asked.

"Oh yes, very good question Chuck," Viper said.

"Thanks and the name is Butch sir," Butch said.

"If indeed you are apprehended you will be left to rot inside the city jail for all eternity  I addition you'll be awarded an automatic F for the course," he explained. "Is that clear Bob?"

"The name-" Butch then trailed off. "Oh, I give up."

"You be glad to know if one trained passes the entire team will be full fedge Team Rocket agents."

"Hey not bad. Who's on your team Jess you yourself and you?" Cassidy said.

"Huh," I said look at her and looking around and noticing Bert wasn't in the class.

'I guess he decided to not be here anymore,' I thought with a sigh.

"Don't worry honey you look much better in stripes than I do. Doesn't she Hutch?" Cassidy asked.

During the mission...

"You think we can get up there with climbing the building?" Meowth asked. "Hey, where are you going?" Meowth asked noticing me walking away.

"It always comes down to just me. Why does it always have to be that it just isn't fair," I said.

"I thought you hated whining didn't I tell you I'd never let you down," A voice said.

"Don't forget you still got me also by your side," Another voice said.

"It's James and Bert!" Meowth shouted.

"The one and only," James said. "Let's boogie!" James exclaimed his badges off.

"James you can't your hurt," I said. "And Bert I thought maybe you didn't want to be part of this team anymore."

"I'm not about to let that keep me down not when my teammates are counting on me," James said.

"I not gonna abandon my teammates either when they need me. I'm sorry I wasn't in class I just woke up with a major headache so didn't come, but here now for the mission," Bert said rubbing his head.

"We're gonna win this competition. Will be the most famous evildoing team in the whole universe," Meowth said.

Bert gave me a big smile, making me almost cry happy to have such great teammates.

"Teammates ...... enough of the sentimental stuff let's get going team that Snorlax isn't going to steal itself," I said.

We then went through many obstacles but finally arrived in the room but we arrived at the same time as Cassidy and Butch.

"Cassidy,  I said.

" Jessie you must be joking you can't win you'll always be nothing but a loser let's do it, Butch,"    Cassidy said running with Butch to the Snorlax but they fell into a hole.

"The red Snorlax," James said.                                                            
"What are we waiting for?" Meowth asked.

Meowth and James run to the Snorlax.

"Wait come back they could be more traps,"  Jessie said.

"She right the test by my father are always bound to have traps," Bert said.

James and Meowth then began to fell into the trap but I grab them before they fall.

"Gotcha just hang on,"  I said.

An alarm then went off.

"The alarm we're done for,"  Meowth said.

"No where not," Bert said grabbing my waist and helping me pull up James and Meowth.

"Just listen forget about me just take Meowth out and get out of here," James said.

"No way the four of us are getting this thing together,"  Jessie said.

"That right were a team. I admit I didn't get the point of why my father put me on this team of four, I still don't understand but even so, I won't abandon my teammates," Bert said.

" Jessie and Bert listen to me the cops are already on their way here if they catch you you'll be wearing stripes into eternity,"  James said.

"You promised to me we're gonna be the greatest team in history now just hold on,"  Jessie said.

"Ok I will try,"   James said.

I and Bert managed to pull James up and when he reached the top, he fell on me making me fall on top of Bert. Bert let out a quiet cough, causing me to look at him and blush due to how close I was to his face.

'Wow, I never realized how beautiful his eyes are.' AI thought shocked by the beauty of his eyes.

"Let's go get up,"   Meowth said making snapped out of my thoughts and stand up after pushing James off me.

"So are you ready team?"  Jessie asked.

 "Ready will ever be,"  James said.

"Let's do this," Bert said.

When we got to the Snorlax was about to take it out of the building. We discovered that Snorlax was Viper in disguise. Which made Bert chuckle quietly which confuse them. I didn't know what was so funny.

Back at the Team Rocket...

"I never thought I'd see the day losing to crazy Jessie and her team of idiots can you believe this Biff?"  Cassidy asked Butch.

"It's Butch, not Biff,"  Butch said.

"Sore losers," I said.

"Got that right," Bert said. "Also I'm not an idiot I'm the son of the leader of Team Rocket." He said glaring at Cassidy,  making her shut up.

"As you all know neither team was able to successfully remove the Snorlax from the building however since the red team led by Jessie today toward completing an almost impossible assignment, we are awarding them agent status and in addition, we are awarding the blue team the state is of villains in training we congratulate you all for a  job well done you've proven yourselves to be the best this day your names will be synonymous with villainy you've made us very proud," Viper said.

I quickly grabbed Bert and hugged him happy we passed, causing his body to go stiff, and saw a surprised look on his face like he had never been hugged before.

'Has he never been hugged? Maybe he was just shocked that a girl hugging him. He had to be hugged by his father and his mother. Whoever his mother is he has only mentioned his father. So don't know who his mother is.'
