Scar's Perspective-
After every game, every scene put on for someone else's enjoyment, we get sent back here.
At least, us winners do.
It's as if we're trapped.
There is no real escape until the next game starts.
In the meantime, we have to watch as the new stained glass portrait gets etched into the wall, forever holding the peace of the winner.
However, because you win, you remember everything.
Even moments from the past...
"WOO! You feel that rush? Cod that was awesome." Joel sighed as he busted through his portrait, freeing himself from Wild Life.
Martyn glanced up from his conversation with Scott and Joel held up a dice.
"And look, I got a little souvenir." He smirked, watching as the sides slowly changed to show different images of the past trials he faced.
"Isn't that dangerous?" Scott asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Who are you? Smajor? More like smajor loser!" Joel laughed and Scott looked confused and even a bit concerned.
"I- okay I'm still workshopping it." Joel admitted, embarrassed.
Pearl laughed.
"I think it fits well." She smiled, Tilly sitting by her feet protectively. "I could get used to calling Scott that."
Scott rolled his eyes and Martyn chuckled.
Their voices muffled out as I strolled over to Pearl's portrait.
She was missing from it since she was standing outside with the rest of us, and you could see the destruction left behind her and Scott's trail.
I glanced over at Grian's stained glass and saw him missing.
"Of course..." I muttered, a dark gleam in my eyes as I entered Double Life.
-
"You know most of its face is burnt, right?" I asked, walking over to Grian, who was sitting on top of The Box.
Grian didn't make eye contact with me, nor did he respond.
"Now he's just as plain as you." I snapped, still having not forgiven Grian for anything he had done.
"Did you come to tell me something, or just be an asshole?" Grian asked me, finally turning to face me.
"A bit of both." I smirked, sitting down (keeping a good distance).
There was a silence that filled the air, which was already palpable with tension.
"Look...I'm sorry, alright? Is that what you wanted to hear?" Grian asked, his tone rude.
"At least sound like you mean it." I rolled my eyes.
"Well? Is it what you wanted to hear?" Grian glared at me, his eyes piercing through my heart.
"Apologies won't fix this." I muttered, looking away.
Grian huffed, rolling his eyes.
"Then stop whining." He said and I kicked his leg.
"Ow-! Jeez, chill out." He puffed up his wings and hid himself from me.
"We were supposed to make it til the end." I sighed, "And you killed them."
"You fell like dominoes." Grian shrugged. "Not my fault."
"You know what also fell one after the other?" I questioned.
Grian raised an eyebrow and lowered his right wing.
"Bad Boys." I said coldly and Grian's eye twitched.
"That's different! And you know it is!" Grian shouted, standing up.
"How? How is it different?!" I snapped, also standing up. I stabbed my finger into his chest. "You're just jealous that I was actually able to keep Jimmy alive for longer. You're mad that I was able to keep my family."
"What family? Etho and Cleo seemed to split real fast." Grian smirked and I huffed, looking away.
In the horizon lay the remains of The Panda Sanctuary, a place once full of life.
"You're evil, you know that?" I whispered, turning to face him slowly.
"Rich coming from the guy who stabbed me with his axe." Grian said, and I chuckled weakly.
"Sometimes people bring out the worst in others." I said, implying Grian's nature made me evil.
"It didn't back then." Grian whispered, glancing up at me.
I looked down into his hazel eyes and I sighed, shutting my eyes.
"That was different." I said in a quiet voice. "I didn't know what you were really like. If I did, I wouldn't've let you win..."
Grian frowned and glanced down.
"Come on." I nodded my head towards where Pearl was once released after she won. "We better go."
Grian sighed and stood up, following me out.
As we entered our respective portraits, I saw Grian hesitate when looking at the lonely desert.
"..hey."
Grian heard my voice and turned his head.
"Do you want to stay for a cup of tea? I finished rebuilding the roof to Trader Scar's." I offered, giving him a weak smile.
Grian's previous demeanor disappeared and I could see his real pain and sadness. He returned the smile and I felt a weight get lifted off my shoulders.
"That'd be nice..."
