Chapter 8 ~ "What In The Nether Is Spaghetti?!"

Here's Kat, drawn by DarkCrescentMoon . Great as always! Love the sword.

Dang gurl I need to keep up on the fan art.

Surry the chapter took so long ;-;

Enjoy! There's a little surprise in this chapter since it was so boring ;)

"Admit it! This was a great plan!" I yelled. The wind whipped my hair, but I still kept my focus on Jake, who was in the cart behind me.

I could see him chuckle, about 10 blocks away. "I suppose it was a good plan!"

When everyone got back, we had more than enough iron. Although Jon and Skye were arguing who got more. Gordon and Mastermind went deeper into their caves and got plenty of redstone for the torches. We spent the rest of the night resting and waiting for the iron to smelt in our furnaces, with people taking watch. However Abby's wall was working, and no mobs bothered us.

And, of course, we rebuilt the bridge. Because that wouldn't work if there was a giant hole in the way. Stupid General Enderman.

So now, we were all on individual Minecarts (except Gabriel was with Infinity) riding the rails. The conductor was of course in the front, lighting up the tracks as he went. He was actually quite good with his timing.

In a line, it went the conductor (who's name is Fred, I found out), Infinity, me, Jake, Abby, Gordon, the rich people, and Jon, Skye, with Mastermind being the caboose. We agreed to have some of us back there, in case something went wrong.

"How long until we get there?" I spit some hair out of my mouth.

Jake furrowed his eyebrows. "Not sure. 20 hours?"

"I would ask the conductor, but he seems preoccupied!"

"What, so I'm not good enough?!"

I giggled. Okay that makes me sound like a little girl. But it was true. I actually giggled. Jake made me giggle. Is that supposed to mean something?

Not answering his question, I turned to face Infinity, who was in the cart in front of me. "How's it going Infinity!?"

She turned back, grinning. "Good!"

I was jealous that her hair wasn't flying in her face, since she had it in a braid.

"How's Gabe?" I asked as well.

"He's good too!" She wrapped her arms around the little wolf tighter. He was really enjoying the wind in his face. I just hope he didn't slobber, because it would come right at me.

As she turned around, I though about our exchange yesterday. She was obviously hiding something, but I didn't push. I didn't want to make anyone else suspicious. Especially Jake, if he didn't know. But it still bothered me that I didn't know.

Oh well. Everyone has their secrets.

"Agh!"

I stumbled back, waving my arms around for some kind of support. I ended up crashing into my table, knocking down some glass bottles and breaking them.

I cursed. But the broken glass on the floor will disappear in 10 seconds.

The pain in my head was still strong. This was weird. I never felt pain. Unless...

"Unless..." I said my thoughts out loud. "She's awake."

For a few minutes, I calmed myself down. When the pain subsided, I lunged across the room to my chests. I opened one and started rummaging through it, tossing everything. Books flew everywhere, potions were chucked behind me, making colors blast from the corners of my vision. And some weird sounds. I think I heard a cow at one point.

I growled and moved to the next chest. Tossed more potions, threw more books, until I reached an old book with a certain aura.

"The copy..." I muttered. I opened the book and zoomed through the pages, trying to find it. Then, I opened a page and found a folded up piece of paper that was yellowing from age. Some of the corners were torn off, and it was ripped in some corners, but the text was hopefully still readable.

"It's been a while since I read you." I carefully opened it up, and skimmed the words.

"Chosen two..." I sneered at those words. "Change the war...Beware...
Mistake will be made...Bonds will break..."

I read the same words over and over. If she was awake... Prophecies could be false, right? This didn't have to come true. At least, not in the way everyone is thinking.

But should I do something? What could I do? I can't interfere.

I sighed and looked out the window into the swamp. My home. My sanctuary. Then, I looked over at my pet, his 8 legs curled up as he slept on his back. He twitched in his sleep, but his 8 eyes stayed close.

"Glad you can sleep." I muttered, going back to my work.

~ Kat's PoV ~

"Are you sure?" Fred asked me.

"Positive." I assured him. "You've been going for almost 10 hours. You need some rest."

"But—"

"I can handle it." I smiled at him. "Don't worry."

His face went slightly red, and he nodded. "Okay. Thank you."

"You're welcome."

"Just remember to place it every 8 blocks—"

"Go!" I laughed.

He climbed into my old cart, and I walked to the front one. I got out the stack of redstone torches, and called out to Mastermind, "We're all already!"

"What?!" He called at the end.

"All ready!"

"I am not smelly!"

"No!" I groaned. "All. Ready!"

"What in the Nether is spaghetti?!"

"SHE SAID SHE'S ALL READY!" Infinity screamed.

Silence.

"Oh. Okay!"

At the end, he shoved his minecart and climbed into it, which caused a chain reaction. Before it could hit me, I powered the next rails, and pushed my cart. At the last second, I jumped in. I placed another torch, and snuck a glance behind me. We were all closer, but we were still going.

I grinned and placed another one.

It eventually got boring. I went into a routine without even thinking, placing a torch every three seconds. My inventory was full of them, so we didn't need to worry about getting more.

It was night. Maybe about 1 in the morning. So obviously the rich people were sleeping. I was quite surprised that Infinity's scream didn't wake them up. She woke me up when I slept through the day to prepare for now. She thought she saw another dog and she yelled something about getting Gabe a playmate. But it was just a bunny (I miss Jewel).

I planted another one. I've been doing this for about 3 hour and I'm already tired of it. How could Fred handle it for 10 hours?

You won't win this.

I jerked my head up, looking around for the sound of the voice. It sounded like a hum more than a human.

At the last second, I remembered to place down the torch.

Who was that? Was it the dude from my dream when I was on the tall diving board? It didn't sound like him.

Torch placement.

"Get out of my head." I muttered.

You're traveling to your doom.

"Shut up!" I yelled.

"Kat are you okay?" Infinity asked behind me.

I put down another one awkwardly. "...Yes!"

So it was obviously a bad guy. Was it Herobrine? General Enderman?

You can't escape your destiny.

I inhaled quickly. That one caught me off guard. What even was my destiny? If it was something bad, I'm not going to let it happen.

"I'm not gonna escape it." I whispered. "I'm going to change it."

For the next few hours, I worked in silence. I was hungry, and tired, but I just kept going. Was that conductor a cyborg as well?! Actually, he was probably used to doing something continuously, guiding the train and all.

Finally, I heard Infinity say, "Kat, look up! We're here!"
