Chapter 6 ~ Infinity's Excellent Negotiating Skill
Can we just all take a moment to appreciate The Pack in real life?
Mitch is that one good-looking nerd in movies that people want at their school, Preston looks so dapper in his suit, and my friends all agree that Lachlan is the cutest (with Mitch at a close second).
Also, we have over 200 views!
Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!

I didn't think I was dead. Unless that's usually how it goes. People have something bad happen to them and they go bye bye, and they still continue their lives like nothing happened. That would suck.
But I wasn't exactly doing anything. I was just standing in darkness. When I walked, I felt ground, but I couldn't see it. I continued to walk, until I ran into something, hitting my head.
"Ow." I muttered, rubbing my head. I used the other hand to feel in front of me. It brushed onto something solid.
Suddenly, color bursted in front of me. Dark brown. And dark green. It was a spruce tree. I ran into a tree.
The landscape filled in in front of me. More trees everywhere, and snow on the ground. It was night, so it was dark. But it was more of an eery dark, like in one of those horror stories where the person walks into a creepy forest and gets rekt by some creature.
Then, a flash of movement. Blue and black. It raced past me about 20 blocks away. Instead of being stupid, I decided to run after it.
I started to run, my eyes set on it, but all of a sudden, I zoomed forward, so I was actually running next to it. And it wasn't even an "it". It was two people. They both had black hoodies, and jeans. I couldn't get a good look at their faces, though.
"Quickly!" One said. A boy.
"I'm going!" The other responded with a hint of sass. A girl. She sounded familiar.
The boy urged, "We can't be caught!"
"You don't think I know that?" She mumbled back.
"I heard that."
So they were running from someone?
I looked back, wanting to see someone behind them. But no one. Instead, from far away, there was a faint red light.
"This way." The boy started to head right slightly, and the girl and I followed.
They continued running for a little bit, obviously losing their breaths.
"Should be... over here someone." The boy said, heaving.
"Sure?"
"Meh."
"Great."
"Right here!" He stopped at a tree. The bottom piece of wood was sideways, so it only stood out if you were close. He broke a piece of the ground, and revealed an underground dirt tunnel barely lit.
He turned to the girl (still couldn't see their faces in the dark), putting his hands on her shoulders. "You need to go."
"You aren't coming with?" She sounded upset and slightly shocked.
He chuckled. "I would have to return and face him at some point."
"Then I'll face him too." She said, determined.
"Who knows what he would do to you?" The boy took one hand away. "I'll only receive a slight punishment. I'll be fine."
She looked down. After a little bit, she sighed. "Okay. When will we meet again?"
"Not for a while." He said, his voice lowering in sadness. Then, he perked up. "But when we do, we'll do something fun, okay?"
She nodded, and he helped her get into the tunnel. Without another word, the boy ran back to where they ran from; back towards the red light.
I looked down at the girl, and as she closed up the hole with dirt, I got a good look at her face.
It was Infinity.

"TREE!" I jerked up. Quickly, I rested my hand on my aching head. My vision felt blurry, so all I saw were figures.
"Calm down, Kat." I heard Jake say. A figure, which I guessed was him, walked over and knelt down. He looked at me. "How're you feeling?"
"Great, just great." I put down my hand. "What happened? Where—"
My vision finally cleared, so I was able to look around. We were on a flat mountaintop. For some reason, everyone that was on the train was there as well. It was night, but torches lit up the wooden ground.
"How did we get here." I glanced around at the people that were staring at me.
"Abby built us a bridge." Gordon walked over, with Abby behind him.
I looked behind and saw that he was right. A 3-block-wide bridge made of stone and wood was trailing back to the mid-air train tracks about 60 blocks away. The bridge continued along the tracks to where the actual train was, still in one piece (minus the front car).
"It was nothing." Abby waved it away.
I looked at her, bewildered. "We're so far up. I thought you were afraid of heights?"
"You're afraid of heights?" Gordon asked her, a mischievous grin spreading across his face.
Abby gave me a glare that said thanks a lot. "Yes. I am. But we had to get somewhere safer, so I remembered what you said before, and sucked it up."
"I'm proud of you." I smiled at her. Then, I looked at the sky. "I was out for a while."
"Yeah." Jake scratched his head. "I kinda had to carry you over here. After that, we just kinda let you lay here, under watch of course."
"You needed to get your beauty sleep." Infinity came over. Jon, Skye, and Mastermind were behind her.
I mentally frowned at the sight of Infinity. What was she doing in my dream? Or was it a vision of the past? If so, who was with her?
"Thanks." I slowly got up. Gordon helped support me.
"Excuse me."
The conductor walked over awkwardly, all better now. "Thank you for saving us all. Are you okay?"
I gave a half hearted grin. "Don't mention it. I'm doing fine."
"Good. Um, I don't mean to rush," He took off his hat and fiddled with it. "But the other people were wondering if ya'll had a plan."
"To get to Bladville?" Jake asked.
"... Yeah."
"Walk." Jon stretched.
When everyone looked at him, he shrugged.
Skye joined in. "Why not? It'll only take, like, a day or something." Turning to the conductor, he asked, "Right?"
He looked up thoughtfully. "The train would've taken a day, but it'll take us two and a half, or three, to walk."
"In case you haven't noticed, most people wouldn't want to risk getting their feet dirty." Mastermind said, looking around.
Jon sighed, giving up.
I looked back at the train and the tracks, analyzing everything. The materials on the train wouldn't help anything, besides food, and the trains were only made of birch wood, birch fence, and, meaningless powered tracks down the center.
Wait. Railroad tracks.
"Minecarts." I muttered.
"What was that?" Infinity asked.
I said louder, "Minecarts. If we get enough iron, we can make Minecarts for everyone to go down the center of the tracks."
"Kat, you're talking about," Jake took a second to calculate. "At most 150 pieces of iron. Plus we'll need redstone torches to power it."
"I recall the center walkway down the dining car being iron." Infinity slowly grinned. "So that's around 99 ingots."
"We can mine for the rest." Jon's expression brightened.
"And the person in the front cart can power as they go along." Mastermind said.
"We can switch places at some point," Gordon said,"So they don't do it the whole way."
"And we can make it there in a day." Abby looked to the conductor for approval, and he nodded.
"Kat, you come up with the craziest plans." Jake shook his head. Everyone looked at him, and he shook it even more. "No. I refuse."
Finally, Infinity went over and literally collapsed on top of him. He crushed under her weight, trying to lift her up and push her off.
"Get off of me Infinity!" Jake yelled under her.
"Pleeeaaaaase." She pleaded, and made him fall to the ground.
"Argh! Alright! Get this she-demon off of me!"
Infinity immediately got up and gave a proud smile, walking away.
"You have excellent negotiating skills." I nodded in approval.
"So we can send teams of people to go search for nearby caves to mine out 51 more ingots." Mastermind said. "There may be mobs, so we'll need some of us to lead and protect."
"I'll take a team." Jon volunteered.
Skye raised his hand. "I'll take another."
"Count me in." Gordon said.
"I'll go as well." Mastermind nodded.
"Imma take a team as well—" I started.
Jake stopped me. "No. I'll agree with your minecart plan, but I want you up here."
"I can handle it." I almost pouted. "Right guys?"
"Actually Kat, I think you should stay here as well." Abby winced.
Infinity nodded. "You stressed yourself today. Take a break."
Despite wanting to go, I knew what they said was true. My head still barely hurt, and I doubted I was going to be much help.
"Okay." I said, glumly.
"Hey." Infinity rested an elbow on my shoulder. "Cheer up. You got us to keep you company."
I smiled. "I guess."
"So we'll start searching tomorrow." Skye said.
"The rest of us up here can just chill. And make sure nothing bad goes wrong." Jake said.
"Yes mom." Infinity rolled her eyes.
Jake ignored her. "Kat, if this works, it'll probably be your best plan by far."

I started the dream part right after I published the last chapter, and finished the rest in like 2 hours nonstop on the third day.
But what was that dream about? Who was Infinity with? Who were they running away from?
Don't answer those questions by the way. They were just rhetorical.
Question: Who's view would you like to see next?
I plan on having Kat's PoV, but someone else's as well. It could be someone in the caves, someone on top, anyone. As long as it's interesting.
Rock on, my little rebels.
