Little nervous about this chapter

K bye

~<>~

"Her..." Jake started, but his breath got caught in his throat.

"Herobrine." I glared at the god. "What are you doing here."

He looked surprised. "That's a rude way to say it. I'm only here to meet you guys."

"Why?" Infinity piped in.

Herobrine chuckled. "Let us wait for your friends to arrive. I would like everyone here for this. In fact... here are some now."

We all turned to the hole as people started to enter in a single file line. They were people that I recognized from the base, but I didn't see any of my friends.

There were two groups in all. After the last Rebel member came out, a large creeper was next. He was twice the size of a regular one, with longer legs and a hunched over back. I recognized him as the mutant creeper— the mob whose army we had to escape from in the desert. As he entered, I heard Gordon gulp.

"Colonel Creeper." Herobrine tipped an imaginary hat.

I knew that the Colonel could speak, but he just simply hissed in response. Mobs started coming out of the hole, mostly creepers.

I didn't realize it earlier, but the mobs that had helped the ranked mobs were making a semicircle around us, blocking our escape. The mutant mobs were stationed at regular intervals. We were trapped.

Fighting our way through was an option. However, it was a bad one. There were at least forty mobs surrounding us, and we were backed up against the edge. There was only a slim chance we could win the fight with few casualties. And I didn't want any casualties, so I had no choice but to listen to Herobrine and pray to Notch that we all lived through it.

Sudden movement made me whip my head toward the fence hole again. There were more people coming out: the fifth group. I finally saw Ash and J walk in, with hulk behind them. Wait no, not hulk. It was the mutant zombie. In all fairness, he was a big green monster twice the size of a regular zombie, so you can't blame me.

I was confused when I didn't see the last group. There were no more mutant mobs, so who was leading them here?

Ash walked over near us immediately. J followed behind him, not showing any emotion on his face.

"What in the nether is going on." Ash hissed.

"I don't know." Skye whispered back.

"Lieutenant Zombie, always a pleasure." Herobrine greeted the mob.

"Same to you." The mutant zombie still kept his three word sentences. Then, he added, "My lord."

He sighed. "We need to teach you on how to use longer sentences."

I frowned. Herobrine was creepily cheerful. Had he lost his mind? Or was he so confident that he had won?

Finally, the last group of people came through. There was Elly, Rein, Jazz, Damen, and Marcus. Next came a bunch of mobs, ranging from spiders to zombies. Finally, a human figure walked through.

Shade.

"Sorry we're late to the party." Shade loudly said. "Some people tried to resist."

I swept my eyes across our five friends, wondering who did. Then, I saw Damen's face. He had a black eye.

Did Shade really take down Damen? Damen, the street fighter. The guy that fought basically every day. Sure, the fights were rigged, but I saw him beating up some dummies in the training room. He could really pack a punch. That meant Shade was good.

"Come, come." Herobrine waved them all over.

The mobs joined the crowd, as did our Rebel friends.

"You asshole." Infinity blurted out to Shade as he passed. Gabriel growled in agreement.

"Such vulgar language." Shade raised his eyebrows. "And I thought you would have matured after a while." He smirked, then walked away.

What was that all about?

"I'm sorry." Damen whispered to me.

"It's not your fault." I whispered back. "Don't be sorry."

"It actually is."

"What?"

"Let's dial down the chit chat." Herobrine interrupted our conversation. He spread his arms wide. "Welcome! I'm sure most of you have not met me before, some do not know who I am. Well I am Herobrine, soon-to-be conqueror and ruler of Minecraft. Although, you all don't want that, do you?"

Nobody said anything. The rain started to come down harder.

"Well," he continued, "I have gathered you all here tonight, in this dreary weather, to not only stop you from escaping." He chuckled. "I did not even know you were planning on doing that. I was just going to invade your base." He saw the look of shock on our faces. "Yes, I know where it is. My little spy told me on his off time."

"Spy?" Ny sword drooped to the ground. I looked around at our friends. No one would betray us, would they?

"You." Jake growled, pointing at J.

"Me?" J feigned surprise.

Jake lunged forward to him, but Jona held him back. With the help of Skye, they managed to calm him down.

"Oh dear." Herobrine said. "That wasn't very nice. But don't worry, you won't need to deal with the secret assassin anymore."

"Assassin?" I gasped. "J, I trusted you!"

He shrugged. "Kay."

As I stared at him with the look of hurt and disbelief on my face, Herobrine moved on. "Anyways. Where was I? Oh right, the reason why I'm here. Yes, it wasn't just to stop you. That was just pure luck. No, I'm here to get something of mine."

"What?" Jazz asked. His voice was a slightly higher pitch.

Herobrine smiled. "Damen, give it here."

We all turned toward the street fighter. With a pained expression, he pulled something out. It was a tiny black rectangle. Nothing fancy at all.

"The code." Herobrine's smile widened.

"What is he talking about?" I asked. "Damen, what is that?"

"I'm sorry, Kat. I didn't mean to keep any secrets." Damen started.

Herobrine interrupted, "Oh, I cannot believe you have it! I mean, I knew Notch and your parents were old friends, but to entrust his power coding with a child?" He looked up at the sky. "Bold move. Unexpected, and bold. Something no one would think you would do. Well played, brother, but I am victorious now." He turned to us again. "Bring it here, boy."

"My father gave me this in his final moments." Damen argued, clutching the code against his stomach. "With his last breath, he told me to not let this fall into the wrong hands. Your hands. The same hands that killed my family!"

I was so confused.

Herobrine waved away the memory. "Oh well. It doesn't seem like you have a choice here. Either give it to me, or..."
He clapped his hands once, and Lieutenant Zombie grabbed Marcus. He pulled him forward, and shoved him towards Herobrine. Marcus fell to the ground. Herobrine grabbed his left forearm, and flew up ten blocks, holding him in the air with one hand as if he weighed nothing. The god moved back a few blocks until he was above the water. "I'll drop your friend."

"Don't you dare!" Damen roared. He took a step forward as if he was about to charge at Herobrine.

"Don't do it Damen!" Marcus shouted, twisting around.

"Such a brave young hero." Herobrine tutted. "The thing is, bravery often gets you killed."

I stood there speechless. I tried to think about the current situation, but too many questions about Damen's past swirled around inside my head. And the fact that it was now pouring wasn't helping. Despite that, I could still see pretty well.

"Herobrine." I pointed my sword at him. "Leave Marcus out of this. He isn't a Rebel. He isn't a part of this."

"I believe I was talking to Damen, Katherine." Herobrine snapped at me. "So leave yourself out of this."

I couldn't believe Herobrine just sassed me.

"Choose, young man." He turned back to Damen. "That tiny black box, or your friend."

Damen stared at Marcus.

"Don't do it." Marcus whispered. "He'll win if you give it to him."

"Quiet!" Herobrine shouted.

Damen tightly shut his eyes. "I'm sorry..." He straightened up and opened his eyes. "But I'm not giving up the code."

Herobrine's smile faded. Without another word, he let go of Marcus.

"NO!" Damen screamed along with the rest of us. He was the only one to jump forward. Instead of trying to get to Herobrine, he ran to the edge and looked down. After a second, he jerked away, his face contorted with pain and sorrow. I saw a single tear escape his eye.

"So sad." Herobrine said emotionlessly. He floated so he was above the ground now, between us and Damen. The street fighter was all by himself, his back against the open air.

"I could keep going, but I don't want to waste any more time." Herobrine held his hand up. A light started flickering above it, and a flame appeared. It started spinning in a ball, and a fireball was hovering above his hand. "Give me the code."

Before, I wondered why Herobrine didn't just take it from Damen by force. Then, at that moment, I realized that he wanted to kill Marcus. He wanted to make Damen feel weak, feel vulnerable, feel hopeless.

"Jake." I barely whispered, trying not to move my mouth. "Take my sword when I give it to you."

"What?" He asked.

"I will not." Damen stood tall and proud. "I will take this to my grave."

Herobrine sighed. "Very well." He whipped the fireball at Damen.

It was like slow motion. My eyes widened as it flew through the air. I took my sword out of my inventory and gave it to Jake. I ran forward, but I was still too slow. The comet hit Damen perfectly in the stomach. He stumbled, and almost fell back off the cliff. But he fell to one knee, clutching his stomach and wheezing. From what I could see, there was torn clothing and burning flesh. It must've been worse than it looked.

I was still running toward him, but I felt someone grab my arm and keep me where I was. General Enderman was at my side, holding my forearm. I screamed, and tried to fight him, looking at Damen.

The lonely, dying teenager looked up at me. His eyes were wet with tears. He bursted into a fit of coughs.

"There was an easier option." Herobrine shook his head.

Damen took a deep, shaky breath. "Sharon..." He croaked out.

I shook my head in confusion, tears stinging my eyes.

He smiled at me. In a last burst of energy, he turned and jumped off the edge, into the water below.

I yelled his name, "DAMEN!"

Herobrine groaned. "He had to make it difficult. YOU." He pointed to General Enderman. "Watch them." He teleported away, going to go find the code in the water.

I didn't really comprehend much about what happened next. All I knew was that I need to get that code away from Herobrine. I remember ripping my arm away from General Enderman somehow, and charging forward near the edge. I heard a battle cry behind me, and turned. Jake had my sword aflame (despite the rain, the magic fire didn't go out), and swung at a zombie. It instantly killed the zombie, making the other mobs come toward him. However, our friends had their weapons out, and started to attack the mobs, including the mutant mobs, who were just trying to keep order. Shade and J were the only people not fighting.

I wanted to join the fight, but I couldn't. I turned and ran to the edge.

"Kat!" Jake called to me.

I whipped my head around, and saw him sprinting toward me.

Before he could reach me, I took the final steps and jumped off the edge.

"NOOO!" Jake shouted.

I fell through the air to the sea below. At first I felt the shock of what I just did. Then, in the middle of falling, I reached into my inventory and grabbed the elytra that I had stole (guilty). It was a struggle to put it on, but I managed to wrap the straps around my arms.

The water was about 30 blocks below me when I opened the wings. I angled myself downward so I gained more speed. At the last second, I pulled up, and sailed across the water.

I had no idea how I was going to look for the tiny black box in the water in the dark in the rain. I knew I had good eyesight, but this was almost nearly impossible.

I was scanning the area before me, when I saw something hovering above the water. Or should I say someone. Herobrine had his back to me, staring at the water. He must've been able to see through it clearly.

I felt angry. This man killed two of our friends. He killed Ivan. He messed up our entire time here.

I angled my elytra down a little bit to gain velocity. I was speeding toward the god, determined to... do something. Ruin his day.

At the last second he turned around at me as if he sensed me. It was too late for him to react, because I slammed my shoulder into him. He definitely didn't see it coming. He fell into the water with a shout.

I did a "Ha!" in victory, but regretted it as I felt something grab my foot. I got dragged down under the water.

When I went underwater, the force was so strong that it broke a wing. I took the broken elytra off and let it float around. I could've breathed underwater, but it still felt uncomfortable. So I swam up to the surface.

Just as I reached the air, I got dragged under again. This time, I kicked my feet around, and hit something.

Herobrine swung me by my foot, and I floated away about ten blocks. He charged toward me. Finally, I exhaled the breath I held, and inhaled the water. He looked shocked as I quickly moved out of the way. I grabbed his arm and tried to punch his face, but he quickly ducked and slammed his fist into my stomach. I flew back a few blocks, and finally noticed something.

Why wasn't he very powerful in the water? He should've killed me already, but he didn't. I could tell he was trying to hurt, but it was like he was just a regular person under the water. Despite being able to breathe it as well. And being pretty good at hand to hand combat. But was he not trying to kill me, or did he just have no power in the water?

Another thing I noticed was that our movements were fast. I had thought they would be slow.

I engaged in the fight. He swung at me, but I blocked it. I kicked out at him. He spun, so I missed. With the momentum of the spin, he kicked my arm. I cried out in pain— it was the arm I had injured before. Nevertheless, I still carried on strong. We punched, kicked, blocked, and dodged for what seemed like hours. I couldn't believe I was fighting a god in hand to hand combat. Even though I wasn't winning, it still seemed too easy.

For some reason, he stopped attacking me. He just shoved his hands out at me without touching me. I was flung back at least twenty blocks.

As I regained my composure, I saw something floating right next to me. It was a tiny black rectangle. Man, what luck.

I grabbed the code and quickly put it in my inventory. I hoped Herobrine didn't see it.

He charged me one final time, pushing me back another large distance. I slammed against something solid, feeling the pain in my shoulder again. I turned around, facing the side of the island. I hadn't realized that we were fighting that close to the wall.

I hid behind a stone spike— one of the many underwater ones that were around the base. I waited for Herobrine to find me, knowing that he was able to. However, after about a minute, he never came.

I turned around, scanning the area. He was gone.

I exhaled. I finally swam up to the surface about twenty blocks up. As I felt the rain on my face finally, I took a deep breath and looked around. Herobrine wasn't on the surface either. I turned my gaze toward the top of the island. From down there, I couldn't hear anything. But the rain and water were making a lot of noise that could've blocked out anything. Lastly, I swept my eyes near the bottom of the island for some shelter. Past a small, rocky area, I saw a cave entrance.

I swam to the stone beach, and climbed onto land. Even though I wanted to stop there, I needed to get out of the rain, and out of plain sight in case the evil god came back. So I trudged on into the cave. It reached a dead end about fifteen blocks in. No mobs had spawned inside.

Exhausted, I collapsed against the back wall. I pulled out the code and examined it. There didn't seem to be anything special about it. And two people died that night to protect it.

Marcus. Damen. Our friends. They were gone. I didn't even know Marcus well, but his death still shook me.

I also didn't know who else was dead, or how well the fight was going on top. But I didn't know any ways to get up there, besides mining straight up. And I didn't have the strength to do that.

I put the code away, and curled up into a ball.

And then the tears poured out.

Well dang.

Um.

I hope that was good for you guys. I kinda have been waiting for that part ever since I started this book, but tbh I don't think it's epic enough cause I didn't include the mobs vs Rebels fight in this chapter. But I'm going to have it begin the next chapter, don't worry.

Also Damen and Marcus died. I had planned on Marcus dying, but it took a lot of self-convincing to kill off Damen.

Rip ❤️

Question: idk tell me your opinions about what happened. The deaths, the code, idk.

Rock on, my little rebels.
