Chapter 36 ~ So Are The Readers
I told you I could update it on time @Yuri
Prep for few mitsakes. I read this over but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
K bye

We went back to the base upset and nervous. Also tired.
When we left the mansion, Jazz, Mastermind, and Ash were doing magic tricks to distract the stupid guard. Jazz tried doing a card trick and it worked somewhat, Mastermind detached his arm, and Ash just stood there being their assistant. Don't ask me how they managed to distract the guards as we flew over, because I don't even know myself.
We landed on the ground, and met up with Abby and the girls in an alleyway. We waited a few minutes for the boys, and when they came, we refused to answer any questions. We all ran into the night into the base.
(In all fairness, I'm surprised we weren't caught. You'd think since wanted criminals were on the loose, there would be more police walking around at night. However, nothing.)
"You're back!" Yuri exclaimed as we entered the main room. He and J were playing some sort of game in a booth.
"It's about time." J turned around. "I was beating Yuri so many times."
"You were cheating so many times." Yuri corrected him. "What happened?"
I looked at everyone. "Should we explain now, or in the morning?"
"Morning." Jake answered. "I need some rest, and so do you. Oh, and everyone else."
"Thanks for thinking about us." Infinity mumbled.
Yuri nodded. "Okay. Seeing as you all are here, and it doesn't seem like any of you are hurt, it must have not been too bad."
I huffed a laugh. "Okay."
We walked past him, and went on our way to the rooms.
"Was it really that bad?" Elly asked.
"It was more bad than good." Gordon answered.
"But did you see my magic trick?" Jazz asked.
Scarlet sighed. "It wasn't magic. You just did the two cards stuck together trick."
"Shhhhhhhh!" He got up in her face. "You're giving away my secrets!"
She narrowed her eyes at him, and he backed away.
"Are you guys sure you don't want to talk about it...?" Abby asked warily. I think she was mostly talking to Gordon, since she was looking at him. Plus he would be the one to talk to her.
"We'll talk tomorrow." He smiled at her. "Don't worry."
She sighed. "I need to be back on the A team."
Skye frowned. "What is it with teams? We're all one big team."
"He's a B team member, I bet." Ash whispered to Infinity. She nodded.
Skye groaned.
We got to the hallway, and everyone dispersed. I started walking to my room when I heard Jake call me.
"Hey Kat?"
I turned around. "Yeah?"
He opened his mouth, then closed it. I could tell he wanted to say something. However, he only said, "Goodnight, kitten. Sweet dreams."
I smiled. "Goodnight."

"... And then we ran here." I finished the story, then sat down.
Everyone in the room that was a part of the mission shifted around uncomfortably. The rest had shocked faces. Abby's and Mastermind's were mostly pity, as if they wished they were were there to help. Yuri wore a troubled look.
"This is not good." He pointed out the obvious. "Not good at all."
"I can't believe that happened." Jazz shook his head. "That's messed up." He lightly tapped his axe head against the table.
"General Enderman showed up?" Rein asked, amazed.
I nodded.
"We ran into him once before. On the train ride here." Jake reminded everyone.
"It involved a lot of TNT puns." Infinity added.
"And Shane—" Elly corrected herself, "I mean, Shade, is evil?"
I nodded again. "He also argued with the General about being Herobrine's second in command, so he's pretty high up."
"I wonder how long the poor guy was with the dark side." Gordon tutted.
"Or if he even had a chance to decide." Abby added.
He nodded, resting his hands on the chairs in front of him. "Could've been forced."
"Or he doesn't think it's the evil side." I shrugged. "I mean, villains don't really consider themselves villains, do they? Like do they really think they are doing evil things?" After I saw that everyone was looking at me weirdly, I changed the direction of the conversation. "Sorry. Deep moment." I cleared my throat. "So now we know that Shade has been on the inside, and will still continue to have the mayor under his control."
"Why would he do that, though?" Infinity asked. "He's already allied with Bladeville, why would he want to be on the inside?"
"Complete control." Yuri said with a solemn face, and emotionless voice. "That's what we all thought Herobrine was after all along. He's going to completely take over Bladville, without any force. Just going to slowly bring himself to the top."
"That's why he killed Ivan." I realized. "Well, had his little Endy friend do it for him. General Enderman said he was going to blame it on us, but it also leads an open spot to the council."
Scarlet shook her head. "There's no way Herobrine would actually be in the council."
"I can't believe he killed Ivan, though." Ash said. "Like, that's messed up."
"No doubt that's gonna be on the front page." Jona said.
Abby added, "I feel bad for Jane."
"Same." I agreed.
It was silent for a few seconds. We all just looked at each other with multiple expressions.
"So... what now?" Jazz asked.
Yuri answered, "They have us trapped. I am not sure what else to do."
"I don't know if there's anything else we can do, without having a 90% chance of getting caught." Mastermind informed.
I covered my face with my hands. I didn't know what else to do. I'm sure there was something, but I couldn't think. I didn't get much sleep last night.
"Guys," Jake said reluctantly, "I think it's time to go."
"Like, leave the meeting room?" Gordon asked.
He shook his head. "No, I mean leave Bladville."
(Lmao you've all been waiting for that)
"What?" That shocked everyone.
"As what was stated many times before, we came here to try to get Bladville on our side. We were supposed to leave after the council said no, but we pushed." He paused and looked at me. "And that was completely fine. But now, I think it's time to admit defeat and go before it gets worse."
"And," Abby stood up, "it's not really admitting defeat. We're just going back to regroup and rethink our strategy."
"Exactly." Jake pointed to her.
"But guys. That means Herobrine is going to get the city. They have the best military. That's going to give them a big advantage." I reminded them, standing up.
"We don't have a choice, Kat." Jake said. "This is the safest way."
"But is it the right way?" I asked.
"We can't risk anything else."
"Risks are meant to be taken. Like rules are meant to be broken."
"Now you're acting a little ridiculous."
"I'm just trying to help."
"So am I!"
I opened my mouth, but I looked at everyone else. They were watching us like a tennis match.
"Kat." Gordon said calmly. "Maybe Jake and Abby are right. We aren't finished here, we can just think about it somewhere else. Somewhere preferable farther away. Where we have other, more experienced people at our disposal."
I took a deep breath, and thought about it. "I guess... it wouldn't hurt to regroup and reorganize."
"Yes!" Infinity looked up and raised both her arms. "Goodbye Bladville!" When everyone stared at her, she frowned. "What? We've been here for forever. I'm starting to hate this place."
"So are the readers." Elly added with a nod.
"So we are leaving?" Jona asked.
"I guess so." I shrugged.
"Wow..." Jazz whispered.
Skye asked to no one in particular, "When should we leave, then?"
"As soon as possible." Jake answered. "Tonight, if we can."
"Is it just us?" Abby asked awkwardly. "I mean, are any of you coming with us?"
Nobody said anything for a few seconds. Then, Rein said, "I kinda wanna go."
Elly turned to her. "Really?"
"We've been here for a long time." She said. "Ever since you guys came, we've gotten a bunch of stuff done. More than what we've accomplished after all these years. It's about time we leave. And go with you guys."
"I agree." Ash said. "We need to do something different. Plus like I don't want to be underground anymore."
"Well if you're going," Elly said, "I'm going too."
"Thank you Elly." Ash said.
Elly narrowed her eyes at him. "I was talking to Rein."
"Oh."
"I'm in." Jazz raised his hand.
"Mate." Damen said. "Adventure is amazing. I'm coming, too. And knowing Marcus, he might, too."
We all looked at Scarlet. She pursed her lips. "Fine."
"Yay!" Infinity clapped.
I turned to Yuri. "Are you coming too?"
He took a deep, shaky breath. "This is all happening way too fast. I, if you all want to go, go ahead. I need to stay behind and work with all these people."
"Take them with us!" Jazz exclaimed. "Everyone can come! Right?"
"Right!" Jake confirmed. "Everyone can be useful."
If Yuri had hair, he would've ran his hand through it (lmao). He looked frustrated, thinking about the idea.
"Please?" Elly begged.
"Do the eye thing." Jake whispered at Infinity.
She blinked, then remembered what he meant. She turned her face into a super kawaii expression, with sparkly eyes and everything (anyone remember?)
Yuri narrowed his eyes. "That has no effect on me." He sighed. "However, your effort is noted. I shall have a talk with everyone later at lunch."
"YES!" We all cheered.
I smiled. We were finally going back. I admit, I was getting sick of Bladville as well.

~ 3rd person PoV ~
Infinity and Scarlet were walking down the hallway, with J in tow. They were going to the cafeteria for lunch, and for Yuri's announcement.
It was funny. J knew they didn't trust him completely, and they had a person with him at all times so he didn't do anything stupid. They tried to conceal it, but it was pretty obvious.
J didn't really need two people to be with him, but Infinity and Scarlet wanted to talk about something. He couldn't hear what they were saying, but since they were whispering, it must've been good.
"I can gossip too." J whispered to them.
They looked back and frowned. Then, they continued on their conversation.
It was almost too easy. His mission. They were alone, their backs were turned, and their weapons were put away. J could've easily put his sword in both of their backs. Quick death. Hide the bodies. Gruesome, but rewarding. Herobrine would approve.
In fact, J pulled out the diamond sword he had hid. When Scarlet turned around, he quickly put it away before she saw it. She narrowed her eyes, but turned back to Infinity.
After a few seconds, he pulled it out again. The two didn't notice.
He walked a little closer so he was in distance, raised the sword, positioned it toward Scarlet's head, and...
He held it there. The sword stopped in the air, refusing to go down. J snarled at himself. It wasn't like someone else was stopping him. He was stopping himself.
He couldn't hurt Scarlet, or Infinity. And probably not any of the other people either. It was not that he didn't want to, it was that he couldn't. He didn't know why.
J didn't realize it, but he stopped walking. His arms fell to his sides. He couldn't. Was he going soft? Did he actually like these people? No... that wasn't possible. No. He just had to find a better moment.
Yeah, that was it. The moment wasn't right.
He was an assassin. He had a job to do. It was a tough job at some times, but it wasn't because of affection, it was just because it was hard to get away with the kill. He never got too friendly with his targets. In fact, he barely ever talked to his targets. This was the first time he ever actually associated with them beyond the title of a stranger.
'Kill some off,' Herobrine had said, 'Lower their morality, and their strength. But do not kill the girl.'
He had to do it. It just wasn't the right time.
Not yet. He put away the sword again.
"J?"
He jerked his head up. They both were looking at him.
"You okay?" Scarlet asked.
"You look pale. Are you dying?" Infinity asked.
"No. I'm fine." J answered simply, ignoring the fact that she actually asked if he was dying. He started walking again.

"I am done."
"Done with what, my lord?" General Enderman asked.
He narrowed his eyes. "I thought I told you to call me Herobrine."
The Enderman swallowed. "Done with what, Herobrine?"
"This." He snapped. He flew off his throne and pointed to it. "I have been on that for who knows how long." He chuckled. "Well I do, but that is not important. What's important is that I am done with sitting around. I need a long break. Stretch my legs. Help with this 'war' effort. I am done with just sitting back and watching."
"You are helping, though. You thought of the idea of killing off the old man, and of sending the assassin, the train wreck, and so much more."
Herobrine turned to the General, who cringed. "Do you think I am the type of person to lounge around and watch everything unfold? Granted, it is fun at some times. However, I will not be patient with this."
"What... what do you mean?"
"It is about time I step onto the battlefield." Herobrine ignored his question, and went over to a plain looking obsidian wall. With a flick of his hand, the obsidian disappeared, leaving a perfect five by five hole. It lead into a small obsidian room, full of diamond armor, swords, and axes on the walls and on armor stands. It was a mini armory. The god walked slowly through it.
"I've always hated bows." He said. "I was never a fan of archery. I wanted to get right in the action, to see my enemy up close as I plunge my weapon into their heart and see the light leave their eyes as their life crumbles away." He walked over to the assortment of axes from diamond to iron to gold. He picked up a wicked sharp double edged diamond axe. "However, I love axes the most. Do you want to know why?"
The General said nothing.
Herobrine immediately turned around and threw the axe. The Enderman cried out as it flew quickly toward his face. In the millisecond he had left, he tried to teleport, but he couldn't. He just closed his eyes and waited for the axe to annihilate him.
However... it didn't come.
He opened one eye, and saw the blade only a little bit from his face (like a few inches. They don't have inches in Minecraft I don't think). It was floating in the air.
Herobrine flew over in a fast manner, making him flinch again. The evil god grabbed the axe handle and grinned. "They're wicked fast." He landed on the ground, and examined the weapon. "Should I take this on the journey? I don't know if I'll need it. But you never know."
"What... journey?" General Enderman made out. He was scared to ask, but he did so anyway.
Herobrine smiled. "To Bladville. It's about time we finish this, don't you think?"

So the group is leaving Bladville. J had the opportunity to kill Infinity and Scarlet, but he didn't.
And...
🎶Herobrine is coming, to town🎶
