Chapter 31 ~ What Are You, A Turtle Expert?

Ahhhhhhhhh

Hey look this is late lmao. Can this just be an ongoing thing now. No? Okay.

Warning: barely read. Be prepared for mitsakes

~<>~

Jake was being a butt.

Apparently the wound was "infected" because I left an opened poisoned hole in my body without any care for a while. That's stupid in my opinion.

Therefore, Jake decided to keep me in one of the infirmary beds for the whole day. It wasn't just him though, the doctor also said I should. The doctor that was just only a few years older than me and could barely give me any details on what was wrong. Still stupid.

So there I was. In a single hospital bed surrounded by stone walls and a single curtain. I was in a cubicle that looked like a jail cell but was really a room for an injured or sick patient. I wasn't super happy. It made me feel like I was trapped.

But I did get visits throughout the day. Jake was there for most of the time, being the good guy he is. He was trying to make me feel better, but I was pretty annoyed by his decision.

Then Infinity came at some times too. She asked me specifically what happened with Jake and I, so I had to tell her we kissed. She freaked out and asked a bunch of questions. I answered them all, and admitted it was my first kiss. Then, she told me a secret.

"That wasn't Jake's first kiss." Infinity leaned in close.

"Really?" I raised an eyebrow. "Do tell."

"He went out with this girl Anna a few years ago, but she moved away and he never heard from her ever again. I thought she was the one, until I saw how he looked at you." She smiled. "Now I know for sure you two are perfect."

I made a mental note to ask Jake about Anna.

Abby and Gordon came together to talk about random stuff. Then, somehow it went to the topic of the Rebel's base.

"It could do a lot better." Abby said. "Like this room?" She gestured to the bed, the table, and the chest. "The walls could have more shelves on them. And like this whole pattern for the walls and floor and roof?" She rolled her eyes. "It's like they didn't even try."

"Well it is just for survival and not decoration." I was smiling.

"It can be used for important stuff and look good! Like the—"

"You're rambling again." Gordon stopped her.

Abby closed her mouth. "Sorry." (No, she didn't say that with her mouth closed)

"It's fine." I noticed that they weren't yelling at each other or ignoring each other. "So did you two make up?"

"Yeah." Abby said after a few seconds.

Gordon agreed, "We cool."

Elly, Rein, Jazz, and Ash came in as well. However, Ash just came in, hugged his hoodie and rubbed it in my face that he had it, and left. Elly and Rein wanted a lot of details about what happened. They said they didn't really go on missions as dangerous as that. Jazz mostly made jokes, being Jazz.

I didn't see Scarlet at all. Which I was okay with.

Mastermind was there for a short period of time, and joked about me needing a cyborg arm.

Damen did come in, and stayed longer than Jake would've liked. We laughed, we talked, it was casual. I knew he knew about Kake because the news spread like wildfire thanks to Infinity. I swear she ran through the halls screaming it. But I was glad it wasn't awkward between us.

A very interesting visit was with Skye and Jona.

As Skye was leaving the room, Jona said to him, "You go on ahead. I'll catch up with you shortly." Skye merely shrugged and walked out.

Jona stood around awkwardly for a few seconds.

"Hi." I waved.

"Hi." He took a step forward. "You know, your wound isn't infected."

I wasn't sure if I heard him correctly. "What?"

"The arrow wound. The boo boo. It isn't infected. They just saw the green from the poison and assumed that it was, but the color just lingered. You don't have to spend much more time here. In fact, you could have it bandaged and as long as you don't move your arm much, you can move around casually. You just can't really swing your arm, otherwise it would tear it open." He finally finished what was probably the longest speech he had ever made.

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. "Wha... How do you know about that stuff?"

His face slightly reddened. "Uh... it's just common sense."

"It's not." I wanted to cross my arms. "Jona are you a secret doctor or something?"

I did not expect the answer.

"Yes."

I blinked. "Come again?"

He bit his lip and looked around. "Whenever I'm not with Skye, or in the mine... I'm a volunteer nurse at the Minefelt Hospital in Notch City."

"Seriously?!" My eyes were as wide as diamonds.

He nodded. "I've always been curious about potions, and helping people, and seeing the smiles on people's faces when they learn that they're gonna get better."

"Potions..." I narrowed my eyes in thought. "A potion... That's what I saw in your hand on the train!"

Jona smiled. "You saw the harming potion? Yeah, I was gonna throw it on the Endermen, but I didn't want to give it away."

"Give it away? Jona, do you realize what kind of gift you have?" I asked. "You're a freaking Doctor! You can help people. And you must be good at potions too. You are already a great asset to the team, but you can be even greater!"

He sighed. "I'm supposed to be that quiet guy in the background. Being a doctor means I'd have to take charge in some situations, and I don't think I can do that."

"That's your reason?" I snorted. "Oh come on. At some time you'll have to come out of the shadow."

"Do I have to?"

"Yes." I chuckled a little bit. "You gotta come out of your shell."

"No. I am a turtle. And turtles can't leave their shells, since it's a part of them. They'd die."

"What are you, a turtle expert too?" I frowned. "Well, turtles aren't in Minecraft so you aren't one. In fact, we shouldn't even know what turtles are."

"Oh yeah. We're breaking the fourth wall." He furrowed his eyebrows.

"Anyways. Back on track, I really think you should tell everyone. Wait. Does Skye know?"

His silence answered for him.

"Jona he's your best friend." I facepalmed. I took a deep breath. "Alright. It's up to you whether you want to come out or not. But you should tell a doctor to check my wound again. I'll explain to them what you said, but not say it was from you."

"You're a life saver." He smiled, and left.

When he walked out of the room, I muttered, "You can be too." I then sat up straight and called, "Doctor?"

~<>~

I walked through the tunnel to the cafeteria. It was lunch time, about a half hour after mine and Jona's talk. It took a while for the doctor to get to my room. I explained to the young adult what Jona said (and keeping my promise by not mentioning Jona), and it took some convincing for him to finally bandage my arm. It wrapped around the outside of my ninja suit around my chest, and around my shoulder. It kept my arm in place a little bit so I struggled a little to casually sway my arm as I walked.

When I got to the giant room, I got my food in the line. Some people gave me questioning looks, wondering why I was up. When I got my tray, I walked over to where everyone was sitting. It was a long table that both our regular friends and the rebel friends were sitting at. No one noticed me.

"Move yo' booty." I said to Gordon, who was sitting next to Jake.

"Kat!" My boyfriend exclaimed. "What are you doing out of your room?"

"Doctor said I could leave." I glanced at Jona for a split second. "It's not infected. Just got it bandaged. As long as I don't really do much, I should be fine."

"Are you sure?" Gordon asked. "Last time, they were sure it—"

"I said move yo' booty." I interrupted him.

He stared at me. "Well if I must." Then, he scooted over, making Abby, Infinity, and Elly move as well.

"You are not going to do anything, though." Jake said to me.

"That's fine with me." I took a bite.

We ate. We chatted. It was fun. All the regular stuff. Everyone sadly wanted me to talk about my story from last night again, which made me feel like I was getting all the attention. But then Elly asked about my story all together. How I woke up. Where I went. How I came across everyone. So everyone took turns explaining the whole story. It took up most of the time, but everyone was intrigued. I even saw Scarlet show some emotion at some points in the story.

After that, we were about to get up. Until a random voice spoke in my head.

Do it.

"Shia Labeouf?" I muttered.

Everyone that sat around me looked at me. A few said at once, "What?"

"Did anyone hear that?" I asked.

Everyone either shook their head, said no, or both.

"You feeling alright?" Mr. Overprotective asked. And in case you didn't know, it's Jake.

Okay, so no one heard the creepy voice. Maybe it was just my imagination.

Not your imagination. Do it.

Not my imagination. Alright. Wait...

Notch? I thought.

No.

It wasn't Notch... But who was it? Someone that has to be able to enter my mind. So not mortal. And why did he want me to do it? I knew exactly what he was talking about. My plan. But how'd he know about it? And for the millionth time, who was he?

"Yeah. I'm fine. Probably just my conscious." I lied.

Infinity snorted. "That little voice in the back of your head? I never listen to it."

Most of us laughed.

"YO BALDY!"

Yuri turned around swiftly. "Me?"

I walked forward. "You're the only bald guy here. I think."

"Okay so first Elly, Rein, and Scarlet call me baldy and make fun of my appearance. But now you?" He rubbed his head. "When will I get some respect around here."

I shrugged. "Infinity makes fun of you as well."

"Fabulous." He sighed. "I see you have healed."

"Ye. Only a bit though. Turns out it wasn't as bad as we thought. But we're getting off track." I glanced around the hall we were in. Nobody. "I need to tell you something."

Yuri huffed. "Look Kat, you're a nice girl but I'm looking for someone more matu—"

"Not like that!" I shuddered. "Ew."

"Oh. Continue."

I hesitated. "I have a plan. But I want to tell this in front of everyone. I don't feel like explaining it twice."

"If I allow it." He smirked.

"I'm not sure if you will." I admitted. "But it's worth a try."

Yuri grinned. "Then I know just the place." He walked down the hall to the main room without saying another word.

I followed after him. Dang Russian man with his mysteries and crap.

~<>~

We had everyone gathered.

And by everyone, I meant everyone in my group, and Scarlet, Ash, Jazz, Elly, Rein, Damen, and of course Yuri.

We were all in the hallway to Yuri's place. He held a torch and was leaning against a wall.

"Okay so we're all here." Jake finally spoke up. "Now can you guys tell us what this is about?"

Jazz gasped. "Are we gonna do the thing?"

"Yes we are going to do the thing." Yuri confirmed.

"Yay! Can I do it?"

Yuri sighed. "Fine." He took out a lever and gave it to Jazz. He pointed to a spot on the wall. "Right there."

Jazz placed the lever down. He looked at everyone, grinning, and flicked the lever. Pistons pulled out two blocks, making the wall no longer flushed. There was a ladder leading downward.

"Who's first?" Yuri smiled. "Kat? You're the reason why we're here."

"You are, are you?" Jake raised an eyebrow.

I laughed nervously. "Yeah, sure." I walked over to the ladder, gave everyone a last glance, and started climbing down.

It was a long way down, maybe about 20 blocks. When I got to the bottom, I jumped off the ladder and gazed around at the room I was in.

It was another meeting room.

It wasn't as fancy as the one in Notch City, but it was still pretty cool. The walls were stone slabs, and the floor and ceiling were regular stone. There was a long stone brick table, with chairs around it. Along the walls were maps and charts.

"Welcome to our secret room!" Jazz shouted from behind me, making me flinch.

"It's not much of a secret really." Scarlet said.

Elly added, "It's more of a meeting room."

"You're more of a meeting room." Jazz muttered.

When everyone got down the ladder, Yuri spoke. "Alright. Everyone take a seat. There aren't enough for everyone, so some will stand."

I was going to stand, but Jake guided me to a seat and made me sit down. He stood right at my side, though. I sighed at him.

Everyone else got to their places, with Scarlet, Abby, Infinity, Mastermind, Jazz, Ash, Skye, Damen, Yuri and I sitting. Everyone else just stood in between the chairs.

"So why are we here again?" Infinity asked, kicking her feet on the table.

"Well." Yuri replied. "Kat said she had a plan. And she's going to tell us it."

Everyone looked at me.

Despite being granted a chair, I cleared my throat and stood up. "I do have a plan. It's a crazy plan, but I've had many crazy plans before, and they've worked."

"What exactly do you have in mind?" Scarlet said with a bored expression.

I took a deep breath. "We're going to break into the mayor's mansion."
