Chapter 26 ~ Inside Joke

Yo.

New character introduced in this chapter. Not mine.

Bye.

~ Kat's PoV ~

"I HEARD THAT!" Both of the young teens snapped.

I shrugged with a sly smile. I couldn't help my shipping needs.

Yuri said seriously, "None of you deserve this lab."

"Says the guy who put a sheep in it." Ash called from the top.

A few people "ooo"ed, including Gordon. Infinity elbowed him for that.

"I can't make it rainbow!" Yuri exasperated. He walked past us toward the woolen mob. "I tried everything! I know that if you name the sheep something similar to Jeb, it turns rainbow. However I cannot figure out the combination!" He crossed his arms in frustration. "I'm beginning to think it's a myth."

"Hmmm..." I walked over to the sheep as well. Jeb... That name sounded familiar. And the combination? I may have known it somehow. "Try jeb, no capitals, no spaces, and an underscore after it."

"Underscore..." His face brightened as he had a Eureka moment. "Of course!"

"Wait seriously?" Elly sounded surprised.

Yuri quickly walked over to a table and grabbed a name tag and a sharp piece of iron. He engraved something on the name tag, then walked over to the sheep. The sheep backed away hesitantly as Yuri drew closer, but I walked to it and pet it to calm it down. Sheep wool was surprisingly rough.

He held the name tag in front of the sheep, then literally poked it on its forehead. Floating holographic letters popped up above the mob's back, spelling out jeb_. Slowly, the white wool turned red, then orange, yellow, and so on. It was a rainbow sheep.

"Yes! I did it!" Yuri exclaimed.

I glared at him.

"We did it." He corrected himself. "But mostly me."

"I can't believe that worked." Scarlet shook her head.

"You some kind of wizard?" Jazz asked me, slowly walking toward me with a suspicious look on his face.

"Yer a wizard Katty." Infinity said in a gruff voice with a British accent.

I frowned. "What was that?"

She looked across the room in concentration. "I... don't know."

"Okay hold on a second." Jake interrupted our sidetracked conversation. "We have a few questions we need to ask you guys before we get all buddy buddy."

"Like are you single?" Skye asked, winking at Scarlet. She gave him a murderous glare.

"Yes, yes I am." Gordon patted Skye's chest. "But I'm sorry. You're not really my type."

We all laughed. Skye's face slightly reddened. Those weren't the two reactions he was hoping for, I was guessing. And he didn't know it, but Jona was giving Skye a look. Didn't look like jealously or anger, though. I didn't know what it looked like.

"Not those types of questions." Jake groaned. "I mean like who you all are. Or why we're here. Kat said Notch told her to come here."

"Well we're the rebels." Rein shrugged. "Not much else to say."

"What are you guys rebelling against though?" Abby asked.

"Herobrine." Scarlet simply replied.

Ash coughed. "We're all Notch supporters here. We don't want to be controlled by a maniac."

"Fair enough." I shrugged.

"As for why you're here." Yuri smiled. "You're going to help us take down Herobrine's hold of the city."

~ 3rd Person's PoV ~

Herobrine had never felt true happiness.

For most of his life, he was a sulking stick in the mud that plotted his revenge, mumbling to himself in the corner. Then when his plan started working, he eventually began to worry less and 'joke' more.

Even now when he had Bladville on his side, he didn't feel exactly "happy". Sure, he was glad that those miserable mortals picked the wise decision and chose him, but he wasn't happy. He was only happy when he was satisfied. And he wasn't going to be satisfied until he had all the worlds under his control. Until his enemies were either killed or locked up. Until he was the most powerful god.

So as he sat on his throne, he thought about the many things that can go wrong. Yes, Herobrine was a pessimist. And he hated to go for goals if he had even a one percent chance of losing. But this war was pushing his limits. He had to get out of his comfort zone. Actually, he already was.

"Sir."

General Enderman appeared by the doorway to the left.

Herobrine almost frowned. Usually his General would teleport in front of him, not use the hallways. Something was wrong.

"What is the matter?" Herobrine asked.

The Enderman swallowed. "Our prisoner is ready to talk."

This time, he did frown. "The spy?"

"Yes."

"Bring him in."

A man was half dragged into the room by two wither skeletons. He was tossed into the center of the room.

Herobrine had seen him before, in the dungeons. Dark skin, brown eyes, slightly heavy. Green shirt button and dark blue jeans. Some kind of hat on his head. From what the god had gathered, his name was Ghost, and he was in his mid twenties. Oh, and he only had one leg, as a punishment for not cooperating. His right leg was gone below his mid thigh, with his jeans cut off there. (Guys Herobrine just got really brutal.  :0 Idek know why)

The man on the floor winced, and got up. He had surprisingly good balance. He looked Herobrine in the eye.

"You will cooperate now?" Herobrine asked.

Ghost had a pokerface on. "Yes. As I have said before, I was planning on being a double agent. Of course, without you knowing."

"Lies!" Herobrine nearly hissed out. "You were spying on us. If my Ghasts hadn't warned me, you would've gotten away with it."

"No no, you got it all wrong, man." Ghost seemed chill. He swayed for a second. "I was going to feed Notch false information. I just needed to make sure I wasn't accidentally giving him real information without knowing it."

General Enderman almost laughed from his corner. As if Herobrine would believe that.

He chuckled darkly on his throne. "You expect me to believe that?"

"Yes. I can prove my loyalty to you." Ghost nodded quickly.

"How so?"

"I know where Notch keeps the hard drive."

General Enderman jerked his head toward the prisoner. He couldn't have known.

Herobrine raised an eyebrow. "Do you now."

"I do. He entrusts it with some random guy. Whether they have any relations toward each other, I do not know. Yet."

"Interesting..." He mused. Should he actually trust this pathetic person? "You will tell me everything you know. Then you will have your freedom. But do not go anywhere near Notch. Stay in this city. I have lost my visual on the group, and I need you to find where they are."

"I will do my best." Ghost glanced down at his leg. "Although my current presence will slow me down."

With a heavy sigh, Herobrine waved his hand.

Slowly, iron crept sprouted from Ghost's thigh and headed down. It connected to a tiny button sized block, then headed downward still. It stopped when it reached the floor, and his pant leg reformed on top of it.

"Surely you wouldn't mind having an iron leg, now would you?" Herobrine asked.

Ghost knew that if he said he did mind, it wouldn't turn out well. Luckily for him, he was fine with it. He took a step forward. It felt wobbly, but he would have to get used to it.

"You can run faster than most now, you know."

"Thank you." Ghost dipped his head in gratitude.

"Would you also like your weapon returned?" Herobrine clapped his hands once, and his servant, Blaze, came into the room with a bow and a single arrow in his mouth. It clattered on the ground in front of Ghost. His infinity flame bow.

As he walked over to pick it up, Herobrine mentioned, "And I am only letting you go because if you try to go against me, I will make sure your leg isn't the only limb gone."

"Take down... his hold of the city." I blinked.

"Yes."

"But like..." Gordon glanced around. "How?"

"We've been doing it for a while now." Elly shrugged.

Jake let out a puff of air for a laugh. "You mean like robbing places and acting like criminals?"

"We are not criminals." Rein said. "We just need supplies."

"Speaking of robbing." Jazz turned to Scarlet. "Didja get the diamond?"

"Gave it to her." Scarlet jerked her head toward me.

Jazz gave me a hopeful grin.

I shook my head. "Sorry little dude. I left it for them up there."

(I forgot to add the police finding the diamond when they just barely missed the group rip)

He looked betrayed. "Traitor!"

"I did all that work to get it, and you just gave it back?" Scarlet was bewilderedly angry.

"I felt dirty." I mumbled.

Yuri chuckled. "Get used to it. If you're going to be here, you're going to need to be like one of us."

"How so?" Skye tilted his head.

"You must be as swift as a coursing river." Ash chanted.

"With all the force of a great typhoon." Rein added.

Elly continued, "With all the strength of a raging fire."

"Mysterious as the dark side of..." Jazz turned to Scarlet.

She rolled her eyes. "The moon."

"Yay!" Yuri clapped his hands.

We all just stared at them.

"What was that?" I asked.

They looked back at us.

"Nothing." Yuri shook his head. "Just an inside joke."

"But in all seriousness." Ash said. "If you're gonna be here, you're gonna need to act like a rebel."

"Since when did we say we wanted to be here?" Mastermind asked, raising an eyebrow. "No offense."

"Offense taken." Elly put her hand on her heart.

Yuri shrugged. "You can leave. Of course, you'd be convicts and arrested on sight. Besides, Notch wants you here. Isn't that right, Kat?"

I swallowed. He was right. At that moment, the underground base was where we needed to be. Even though we did have a rough first impression.

"We've been avoiding the things that really matter." I spoke up. "You said we need to be like you guys. Then train us. You said you need us to help you take down Herobrine's hold on the city. We'll do it."

"We will?" Jake asked me incredulously.

"Yeah we will!" Infinity pumped her fist in the air.

I took a few steps back from our group. "Guys we came here to stop Herobrine from taking the city. We failed our first chance, this is our second. I am not going to miss it. I am not going back to Notch City saying we failed. I'm staying here and I'm going to fight to take the city back."

"I'm with ya sister!" Infinity walked next to me. Gabriel followed her heels.

"Me too." Abby smiled, walking to me. Gordon followed her heels.

"I'm in definitely." Skye glanced at Scarlet.

Jona hesitated for a second. "Same."

"You guys are a riot." Mastermind laughed as he joined us.

And of course, Jake was the last as usual.

"Jake—" I started, ready to convince him.

He stopped me. "Save it. Kat, you've had some crazy ideas. Yet they've all seemed to work." He took a step forward. "I'm not very trusting, and that's going to be my downfall. So I need to change my ways. I trust you, Kat. I'll follow you wherever you go."

Infinity hit my arm softly repeatedly. I think she was having a Kake overload.

I grinned. "Thanks Jake."

Clapping was heard.

"Well that was touching." A new voice said.

We all looked above. On the platform was a single figure, his arms crossed and a smirk on his face.

Damen chuckled. "About time you guys joined the rebels."
