Chapter 23 ~ I Need The Cookie

Dude I did practically all of this today. Like 1800 words today.

Bye

~ Kat's PoV ~

We spent the rest of the day being lazy for once. There was still tension and depression in the air, and a stiff atmosphere, but we did our best to ignore it. Wasn't very easy though.

I kept my word and didn't tell anyone about Mastermind's past. When I walked into the room, the girls questioned me about my whereabouts with him. I just simply said that he and I were trying to go over a plan, but got nothing. Which we actually did do. After talking about him, we had a light discussion about what would happen next.

"I don't think they'd be frustrated with you." He assured me, talking about the council. "Or anyone. Maybe a little distraught, but there's nothing else we can do."

There was actually something we could do, but it was so hopeless that I didn't even bother telling them.

"We just got to believe we can do this." He continued.

I gave a half shrug. "I guess."

I still was insanely nervous.

Eventually, we got lunch. Our money amount was starting to dwindle, but we were going to leave soon anyway so it didn't matter.

As we walked back up to the room, I realized something with a shudder. We weren't safe at all. Even though we had a week until we would be enemies, I highly doubted Herobrine would wait that long. He was officially an ally of this place. He could walk on the street with ease and confidence. Which means that he could show up any minute.

We needed to leave. Fast.

"Guys, come with us." I told the boys when they were just about to walk into their own room.

The 5 guys followed without questioning.

We all gathered in the main room.

(I did it finally. And yes I know I didn't describe a kitchen before. But shhhhh)

"What's wrong?" Jake asked as he leaned against the counter.

Jona and Skye sat on the couch next to Infinity, and Abby sat on the chair. The rest just stood around.

"We have to leave soon." I said bluntly.

Jona coughed.

"We kinda know that." Abby slightly winced.

"Less than a week." Skye leaned his head forward. "Or we'll be arrested."

"Still rude, in my opinion." Infinity moved her face away from Gabriel, who was trying to lick her.

"But I mean sooner. Look, Herobrine is basically in control of this city—" Jake opened his mouth but I raised my hand. "— and you all know that. He never wanted to be allies. He just needs more control over more areas."

"Very true." Mastermind mused. "I mean, Bladville is a powerful city. Maybe he thinks others would converge to his side."

I nodded. "Most likely. But anyways, he can show up here any time he wants. And a meeting with him would not be very good." I swallowed, careful of what I planned on saying next. "I need to contact Notch about this."

"How though?" Jake asked the one thing I was hoping he wouldn't. Then again, it was an obvious question.

"He contacted me in dreams before, as I told you all in front of the council in Notch City." Partially true. "Maybe I can try to do it to him."

They all looked at me, but then shrugged as if saying "whatever, your call".

I exhaled. I didn't know if they already knew that I was part god, but I decided to go against telling them just in case. So I was glad they didn't ask how I could "call" Notch.

"So like, you're going to sleep and try to visit him?" Gordon raised an eyebrow.

I shrugged. "All I can do, really."

~<>~

What would you do if you were trying to control your dreams? Normally people would just think about what kind of dream that they want over and over right before they go to sleep. But did I even count as a normal person?

That night as I went to sleep, I took a few moments to think about what I wanted to happen.

Visit Notch visit Notch be a unicorn visit Notch.

Then, involuntarily, I fell asleep suddenly.

There was just darkness. For a second, I was afraid that I was in a nightmare. But the darkness faded and I was surrounded by white light. There was a wooden floor, and furniture.

I grinned. This was the room from before. Notch was nowhere to be seen.

Laughing evilly, I walked toward the chair and sat down in it. I felt giddy that the tables had turned.

A minute later, I heard a voice. "Kat."

Notch faded into appearance from where I did.

I casually put my feet up on the table. "Hello Notch." I flicked my wrist, maintaining eye contact. "Cookie?"

He cleared his throat, slightly pointing to my hand. I turned to it and saw that it was empty.

I chuckled nervously and flicked it again. Still nothing.

"Nice job." He said sarcastically.

"No need to be rude. This is my first time trying to do this." I kept shaking my wrist, but nothing worked.

Notch walked over. "I am honestly quite shocked that you learned to manipulate dreams this fast. But why are you trying to do this? Do you have something to tell me?" He frowned.

"The... uh..." My giddiness faded. "The council's decision."

"They decided already? What did they say?"

He was anxious to know. Which made me feel guilty.

"They... They chose your brother. They chose Herobrine."

He face stayed level with mine, but he looked at the table. I could tell he was trying not to looked disappointed, distraught, distressed, some other word that started with "di".

"We tried our best but it wasn't good enough." I added quickly. "It's not that we didn't try or anything, they're just stupid little—"

"It's okay, Kat." He interrupted me.

I opened my mouth, and closed it, not sure what to say. "It's really not."

"It would have been great if Bladville was on our side, yes, but it is also fine if they aren't."

"No it isn't." I shook my head, not understanding. He should've been angry. He should've been upset. "Herobrine is growing stronger."

"Only if you think like that." He said calmly.

"What?" I started to get frustrated. "What are you talking about."

"With every situation, you can either think of it as a disadvantage or an opportunity. Your opinion depends on how much hope you have. Do you think that the greatest warriors charged into battle thinking they'd lose when their numbers dwindled? That the smartest scientists assumed their experiments would always fail when they had a few mishaps?"

"I—"

"That the best leaders gave up when their team was thought out to be terrible? No. They make the most of their situation. They don't stop and they trudge on even in their darkest times."

I looked down. I knew he was right.

"You mustn't give up just because things didn't go your way."

I laughed bitterly. Nothing went my way. I wanted to know my past— not happening. I expected to be treated like someone normal— not happening. I would have liked to have a pleasant train ride here— didn't happen. I hoped that I was able to trust my friends— not happening. I prayed to win Bladville over— didn't happen. I wanted to have a cookie appear in my hand— didn't happen.

"Kat, calm down."

Notch's voice shook me out of my thoughts. I focused my vision back just in time to see the space around us fade from a dark, angry looking red back to white.

"Wha...?" I was confused.

"This is your dream. Any emotion can change it."

"I just want a cookie." I said through gritted teeth.

He smiled. "Look down."

I looked down. There was a delicious looking cookie on my lap.

"Did I do that?" I lifted it up and looked at it with wonder.

"Yes. You need to put emotion into it in order to manipulate your dreams."

"But I wanted it before."

"You wanted the cookie, yes, but you need to convince yourself that you need the cookie. As if it was life or death. Now have a bite."

It was an amazingly delicious cookie.

(What the Nether did I just write. This is what happens when I rush)

"Now, moving on. I know I ask a lot from you, but I need you to do me a big favor."

I looked at him, puzzled. "What?"

"Go to the parade tomorrow."

I widened my eyes. "Parade?"

He winced. "Oh, I spoiled the surprise for the final day of the festival. Yes, there is a parade. But I want you to all go, and I want you to bring all of your items, and Gabriel."

"Why?" I asked.

He smiled. "You'll find out soon. You should probably go, this dream will sap much of your energy."

"O— okay." I was still very confused, but I nodded.

"And remember," Notch said as everything started to fade away. "No matter what happens next, trust the rebels."

I drifted into slumber with a final thought:

Son of a creeper.

I forgot to bombard him with my questions.

~<>~

Wtf was that lmao. Inspirational speeches? Cookies? Trust the rebels? Meh.

I could end it here, but I need sOmEtHiNg else to happen.

So here you guys go ;)

"Kat. Are you dead?" A voice said. Gordon.

"Of course she isn't dead you idiot. She has a pulse." Jake.

Gordon gasped. "She's a zombie! Ow! Infinity!"

"Jake, you should kiss sleeping beauty." What the Nether, Abby!

Uh no. I jolted upright in my bed, smacking right into someone's face.

"OW!" We both yelled.

I rubbed my forehead, but the pain eventually went away. I blinked away the dots in my vision and looked around. Almost everyone was surrounding me. Jake was rubbing his cheek.

"Did... you really try to kiss me?" I frowned at him.

His eyes widened. "No! I was getting a closer look."

"Okay..." I blinked a few times again. "Uh, what are you all doing?"

"Do you realize what time it is?" Skye raised an eyebrow.

"I just woke up." I narrowed my eyes at him. "What time is it?"

"Dude, we had lunch a few hours ago." Infinity said. "We missed you."

I missed lunch and breakfast?! Notch did say the dream sapped my energy... I guess I needed sleep...

"Why didn't you guys wake me up?"

"We tried." Jona said.

"You didn't wake up." Skye clarified.

"Huh." I frowned. "So I was basically a corpse alone in this room for half of the day?"

"Well, Abby skipped breakfast to stay here in case you woke up, and Jake stayed at lunch."

"Aww, I'm better than food for you two?" I smiled innocently at them.

They both shrugged.

"Did you have a wacky dream or something to make you sleep so long?" Mastermind asked.

I hesitated. Should I tell them?

Mastermind furrowed his eyebrows. "Kat..."

I bit my lip. "Yes..."

"Was it about Notch?" Abby asked.

I nodded. "I, I managed to tell him about the decision. And he took it okay."

"I'm not surprised." Jake said. "He seems like a forgiving guy."

"He also gave me an inspirational speech." I shrugged.

"How inspirational?" Gordon asked.

I thought about it. "I don't feel depressed or anything anymore."

He gasped. "Magic! You should tell me to make me feel better."

"Nah. You aren't worthy."

Some people chuckled.

After a few seconds, Infinity asked, "So what do we do now?"

I made a few faces, thinking again. Then, I remembered what Notch said.

Go to the parade tomorrow.

"Guys, did the parade start?" I asked.

They all looked at each other. Then, Jake spoke. "It starts in an hour... how did you know there was a parade?"

"Notch wants us to go to it." I said bluntly. "I don't know why, but he wants us to bring everything we have, including Gabriel."

"Why?" Skye asked.

"I said I don't know why." I stuck my tongue out.

"Maybe I wasn't asking you." He said, moving his head in a sassy way.

"Mhm guuurl." Gordon did a Z snap.

We all stared at him. He smiled awkwardly.

"Well." Infinity clapped her hands once. "Gabriel, get your stuff. We're going to a parade."

At the dot, the word count is my ° birth year

Lol

Okay so next chapter is going to be interesting, I promise. I know I say this a lot and then hardly anything happens, but I assure you that next episode will be amazhang.

Question: yo give me a Minecraft parade float idea. Plz. I'll dedicate it to you in the chapter (this is how lazy I am. I resort to this)

Rock on, my little rebels.
