Chapter 15 ~ The Jona Has Spoken
Here is an early chapter because I'm so amazing and it's a sorta boring chapter.
^ dat's Gordon
I found this awesome drawing app (thanks to Infinity) so Imma be drawing the characters more often now.

I collapsed on my bed, my face in my pillow, and groaned.
"Oh really." Abby said to my action.
That was honestly exhausting. I had so much stress piled up, so much anxiety from wondering what was going to happen and from what already happened, and I could use a nap.
My eyes started to shut when the door opened, and voices grew louder.
"Kaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!"
"What?!" I exclaimed, but it was muffled in my pillow.
"Kaaaat." Gordon said again, and I felt the bed shift as he sat down. Then, I felt something poke my head. "You okay?"
It took a few seconds for me to respond. "I okay."
"You sure?"
"I sure. Just tired." I lifted my head up and flipped over to see everyone.
"Do you want to rest?" Jake asked me. He looked concerned as usual.
I waved it away. "Nah, I'm fine."
"So I found this flyer while we were walking." Jona pulled out a paper flyer, and handed it to me.
"THE BALLISTIC BUILDERS?!" Abby screeched.
"Ouch my ears!" Infinity yelled from right next to her.
"Sorry!" Abby patted her shoulder. "But the Ballistic Builders are the best building team ever! They are my idols!"
"Take it down a notch." Mastermind told her.
"Heheh, Notch." Gordon chuckled.
I smacked him on the arm.
"So wait. The festival is tomorrow?" Skye asked. "But there wasn't anything set up yet. How can they set up a whole festival in that little time?"
"Duh!" Abby rolled her eyes. "The Ballistic Builders are known for creating their builds in record speed. They'll probably be the people to do it."
"Nifty." I nodded in approval.
"Oh, it's so cool that they happened to be here when we're here! They are always traveling— like the circus but cooler— and it's always been a dream of mine to build with them!"
"50 years eh?" Jake said. "That's old."
"Not as old as your mom!" Infinity said. Her voice was slightly shaky, but she seemed back to normal otherwise.
"... Infinity." Jake face-palmed. "We have the same mom."
"Not technically."
As they talked, I realized something. They were talking about moms... who was mine? Who was my dad? Who were my parents? I had never really thought about my family before; I'd been so busy. Were they even alive? Did they have to do with any of this?
"Guys." I frowned, breaking the silence. "Not to kill the mood, but do you guys know who my parents are?"
Dead silence. They all glanced at each other.
I sighed. "Can't tell me. Right. I don't understand, but I guess I understand."
"Kat." Jake gave me an innocent and sincere look. "I swear that we honestly don't know. I feel like if we did know who they were, we'd tell you. It would only be right because they're your family. But I don't know."
I gave half a nod. "And you can't tell me if they're involved in any of this?"
He hesitated.
"They are." I blinked and looked at the ground.
Were they the ones that caused this? Were they different from others? Or were they normal people. Where were they now?
"I have to find them." I muttered accidentally out loud.
"Kat." Mastermind said. "I, I don't think—"
"I have to find them." I looked up at him. "If I have living family members, I need to know where they are, what they're doing, who they are."
"...One thing at a time." Abby said reluctantly.
"But—"
"Do you really think it would be wise to go out on another adventure while we have a whole war to prep for and go through?" Jona said, which startled us all. "I'm not saying your parents don't matter, they do, but for now our fight is here. We need you here."
After a few seconds of awkward silence, Skye broke it. "That's the most you've ever talked. Well done." He patted Jona on the back, which made Jona flinch.
"The Jona has spoken." Gordon bowed the best he could.
"I..."
I didn't know what to say. I really wanted to find my family. They were my family. But a small part of me thought Jona was right. Another part of me knew that I felt like an idiot and I didn't know how to come back from this. But a big part couldn't believe that they didn't understand. Ugh, I was conflicted. I didn't want to be by a lot of people at the moment.
"I need some fresh air." I muttered, getting up and walking out of the bedroom.
"Kat?"
I was at the door when Jake's voice stopped me. I turned around to see him in the doorway.
"Yes?" I asked hopefully. Why did I sound hopeful? Was I really wanting him to stop me?
He looked like he was about to say something, but stopped himself. Then, he spoke, "Don't wander off too far. Never know what could happen."
My face fell. "Oh. Okay." I swiftly turned around and walked out, shutting the door behind me.

"I need some fresh air."
I could barely hear Kat say that. She then got up and walked out of the room. Jake looked at everyone and got up, following her.
"Kat!" I heard him say.
"Yes?" She asked.
Yes! He's going to comfort her! Kake!
"... Don't wander off too far. Never know what could happen."
No! He's an idiot!
"Oh. Okay." A door shut.
Jake walked back in, shaking his head and looking like he regretted something.
"You're an idiot." I told him.
"Thanks." He exhaled deeply, sitting on the floor crosslegged. He balanced his elbows on his knees and rested his cheek on a hand.
I groaned and got up from my bed. I walked over to him and grabbed his arm, half dragging him to the living area.
"Hey!" He protested, managing to get on his feet. We stopped in the middle of the room and I let go of him. "What!"
"Why didn't you go after her?"
He looked at the wall to avoid making eye contact with me. "She wanted to be alone."
"Girls don't always mean what they say."
He threw his hands up. "How am I supposed to know that!"
"Do you need me to teach you?" I sighed.
He glared at me. "Don't talk to me about relationship troubles. Not that we have a relationship. But what about you and that one guy? What was that about?"
This time, I avoided his gaze. I was hoping he wouldn't talk about that. I saw that Kat noticed I was off when I saw Shane at first, but I had hoped no one else did.
"I..." I hesitated, and lowered my voice. "I thought he looked like Shade for a second."
My old friend.
"Shade." He turned to the side, thinking with a slight angry look. "I knew he looked familiar. It makes sense now."
"What would he be doing here?" I asked.
"Notch said that the council was corrupted, and the mayor was being controlled by one of the members. It's obviously him."
"But why would he make it obvious?"
"That's what I'm trying to understand." He bit his lip. "We should keep this to ourselves, though."
"Don't the others have a right to know?" I gestured to the closed door to the bedroom.
"This makes things more dangerous." He said solemnly. "If we can help it, I don't want them to know. And I especially don't want you talking to him."
I crossed my arms. Eventually, I gave in. "Fine. I won't tell them. Or talk to him. On one condition."
"What?" Jake asked, a little worried.
I grinned. "Go after your Juliet, Romeo. It's getting boring here, and I need to see some romance."
