Part 10

From that thought my heart starts pounding louder every second. I can feel my dry palms become moist. The thought that these people are taking us to our doom petrifies me. Someone who is my doctor is taking me to my death. What will they do to us? Who are these people? Dr. Thomas can't be one of them, right? Why won't they tell us who they are, let us at least know we are safe? Calm down, we just need to ask, they don't have to be a part of the government. That's stupid. My dad isn't freaking out, so I don't have to. Dad and I don't die easy, right, we have nothing to worry about. What about Mom, she doesn't have the power, she can actually die.

I can't think of anything else, my mom dying, the woman who held me in her womb and the woman who gave birth to me, dying. The sound of screeching tires filling everyone's ears interrupt me. A woman's screech comes shortly after it, the bloody, horrifying scream echoes in my mind. Just the scream alone makes my heart beat ten times faster. Here comes the shortness of breath, the lack of oxygen, fulfilling my basic needs. I lean towards the window on the passenger side, only to interrupt with the SUV coming to an unexpected halt, slamming my body against the back of the seat. I slowly bring my body forward to the original position where I see the most bloodcurdling thing I ever seen.

A deep shade of red covers the street. Screams of terror is filling every corner. People are rushing out of the restaurants trying to see the horror before me. I try to assess the scene, but a red truck is making an obstacle for my vision.

Then I see out of the corner of my eye Dr. Thomas running out from behind our car. I open the door to get out to see what he is doing, but before I can my arm has an instantaneous grip on it. I try to wiggle free, but the grip tightens with every move. I swing my head around to see my dad strangling my arm.

"Let go!" I squall as I try to break free.

"No. You are not going out there." He says through his gritting teeth. I look back at the scene, then back at him.

"That person could be dying!" I reply, managing to get my arm free from his tight grasp. "I am not going to let that happen."

I slide out of the car and start for my way to the source of all this spewed blood. I dig and bulldoze my way through the growing conflux of people taking out their phones, calling the local emergency numbers on the street, some are calling the authorities, others the ambulances.

I could hear my parents yelling in the background for me. I ignore them, my attention is on who ever was on the wrong end of this mess. They could be dying right now, and they would have absolutely no chance for help.

"Hello, 911, yes, um, I am at the sight of a pretty bad car crash. There is blood everywhere, it looks like a women is laying on the ground, bleeding." I hear one woman say.

"We are at the, uh hold on, the corner of Omega Drive, and Alpha Way." One man said.

All the heat that is radiating off the multitude is making it seem like it is a thousand degrees. A salty drop of water drips from my brow down on to the ground, having a few others follow it. Who knew humans could give off such fieriness. I have never been in a greenhouse before, but I bet this is what it would feel like. The cluster is getting me no where near where I need. In fact they are getting me further away from my destination it seems like, with every person getting in front of me. It kind of reminds me of Black Friday in the United States. People cramming in and out of small spaces to all get to one thing, and right now that thing is this person.

I try to walk through the swarm of bodies the filling the streets. With every cleared obstacle comes another. I continue to push myself through the gaggle until I finally come upon the loathsome sight that came with the crash.
