Chapter 18 - Gun Fight

"Are you sure about this?" RJ asked as he stood beside Tracy as she was dressed now and armed to teeth with two handguns and a full belt of clips again.

"I'm positive." She said as she glanced at the second set of guns and full clip belt that was for Bob as soon as they got to him.

"Alright. We'll follow your lead." He said.

"Good. I want everyone to fan out and surround the rock formation. Their in there somewhere. But this time their not getting back out." She said into the headset.

"Yes ma'am." She heard back through the headset.

Then she turned to RJ. "Are you ready?"

He nodded back at her with a determined face. Right as he did, the fairly large group of speed boats started to clear the entrance to Altissia. Immediately they started spreading out in a full fan formation as they sped towards the rock formation. Tracy kept her eyes on the formation as the other boats started to catch up to her and form a full line of speed boats as they raced to their destination. But right as they got close, there was suddenly several boats flying out of the rock as if by magic.

"Shit! They were ready for us. Take evasive action. Don't let any of them get away! But don't forget to surround the entrance. There will be more of them." She shouted into the headset and started racing towards the closest speed boat.

Suddenly she heard gun fire as they got closer to the boats. The pirates had started shooting at the approaching speed boats as they tried to defend their hideout. Tracy slightly smiled as she was grateful that they were just bullets and not cannons. But that was short lived as she heard someone on her boat cry out before hitting the deck.

She looked back and saw that one of the other team members on her boat had been taken out by a stray bullet. Her face turned white. It was happening again. She was losing her team.

Dammit! She shouted in her head as she quickly turned the boat so that the others could fire at the boat as she ran alongside them.

But the boat quickly turned again as they tried to avoid being shot at. But Tracy quickly followed their motion. Suddenly there was another boat racing towards her with their guns blazing. She heard several people go down on her boat.

"No!" She shouted and turned sharply away so that they were out of range again.

Right as she did that, she heard an explosion coming from the direction of the first boat that they had been going after. She turned her head and saw the first boat in flames and starting to sink. She slightly smiled. She was glad that it wasn't one of hers that time. But she was still sad that it had to be anyone at all.

She then glanced around and heard a couple more explosions and saw two more of their boats get blown up. She smiled again. They were winning. But then she saw a random boat trying to escape from the area. As she watched it she realized that it wasn't one of hers. But then again it didn't look like one of theirs either. Then suddenly her heart dropped as she heard a man's frantic voice over the radio.

"Mayday! Mayday! We're being fired at and we're not armed! We need assistance!" He called into the radio.

Tracy's mouth then went dry. She knew that voice. She had heard it a hundred times now coming from the tv. That was Madam Camelia's husband. What the hell was he doing out here?

Quickly Tracy turned her boat and started flying after his boat as he was being pursued by several other boats. "That's Madam Camelia's husband. And he's under attack. Get those guys off of him."

"Ma'am! There's someone else with him!" Tracy heard being shouted over the headset.

"What?" She said out loud and quickly grabbed her binoculars.

But as soon as she looked she could see a young girl in the boat as well as she looked back in horror at the boats chasing them down. "Please tell me that's not his daughter. Oh dear six tell me that's not his daughter."

Suddenly something was shoot out from one of the pursuing pirate boats. And when Tracy looked at what it was, she could see that it had a flashing light on it. Instantly she went numb. Because if her training had taught her anything. It was that flashing lights usually mean a bomb.

"Fuck! Get them off that boat! NOW!" She shouted.

"Yes ma'am." She heard an oily voice say over the headset and watched as one boat quickly raced up to their side.

Then she watched with her heart in her throat as Camelia's husband and daughter both jumped off of the boat and onto another boat. The two boats that had been chasing them were then taken out with two loud explosions. She breathed a sigh of relief as she watched them pull away safely from the doomed boat. Only for that boat to head straight for the entrance to Altissia until it slightly slowed down. But once it slowed down, the boat Immediately exploded into a million pieces.

Tracy gasped as she watched as random boat pieces went flying in different directions. Then she looked over at the boat that had gotten them off, as it went flying past her as it headed back to the rock formation. The motion seemed to happen in slow motion as she slowly blinked as she looked over and saw the face of Captain Steel as he smirked back at her as he held a gun to the terrified little girl's head. Then as quickly as they had approached, he flew past as time sped back up again.

"Fuck! He's got them! That son-of-a-bitch has them! That was Captain Steel on that boat! He's got them!" She heard being shouted into the headset, not realizing that she was the one shouting it.

Quickly the remaining boats started to head for him. But as soon as they started heading that way, they were taken out by the two remaining pirate boats. Tracy watched in horror as she saw the last of the Societies boats burning and sinking. Her heart felt like it was going to pound out of her chest.

"Hey! Who said that you could start without us?!" Tracy heard a familiar voice say over the radio on the boat.

Tracy then quickly looked back towards the entrance to Altissia and saw a single speed boat come flying out. Her heart leaped when she saw it. For it wasn't just any boat. It was the same boat that she had been on when she had boarded the abandoned cargo ship with Bob and his team. There was no mistaken her blue haul and white bridge.

"Rick! What the hell are you doing here?" She shouted at them.

"Did you really think that we were going to let you do this on your own girlfriend?" Tracy heard Jen's voice say over the radio.

"There's no way in hell these bastards are going to get away this time!" Tracy heard Mike shout.

"They'll pay for taking our equipment from us!" Faith shouted next.

Tracy couldn't help the tears as they started to fall. "Thank you guys."

"You get in there and get them back. We'll take care of these assholes." Rick said over the radio. "Just be sure to bring back our boss will ya."

"Yeah." She said over the radio.

"Get ready. We're going in." She said to the remaining team members that were still on her boat.

"Yes ma'am." They all said loudly. Which told her that she still had a decent amount of people with her.

Tracy then pushed the boat at full ahead speed as she chased down Captain Steel as the others started chasing down the remaining boats. Captain Steel kept looking back and firing his gun every once in a while. But the shots just flew wildly past the boat. But then he quickly turned his boat and heated straight for the rocks.

"Holy shit! Is he insane?! He's going to hit the rocks!" RJ said as they both watched him in horror.

But then suddenly the rock seemed to open up and reveal a hidden entrance. Tracy saw this and tried to speed up more so that they wouldn't miss the entrance. But as she approached, the door started to close even before he had cleared it yet. She knew that she should slow down. But she had to try.

"What are you doing? We won't make it!"  RJ shouted at her.

Right as he said that, the door closed right behind the escaping boat. Tracy immediately pulled the throttle all the way back and turned the boat at the last minute. They had just missed the entrance. Tracy tightened up her grip on the helm out of pure rage.

Suddenly her phone went off. She jumped from the vibration in her pocket. But then as she pulled it out and looked at it, her whole body seemed to shiver. For there was a text message that made her whole body shake.

Don't worry. I know how to get in. Meet me back where you dropped me off.

"I can't let you do this." Tracy pleaded with Bob as he was strapping on his two belts.

"Well I'm not giving you much of a choice." He said as he was making the last minute adjustment to the belts. "I'm going no matter what you say."

"Please don't." She pleaded again. "I can't have you getting hurt."

He walked up to her and placed his hand on her cheek. "And you think that I would allow you to do this without me? Not in a million years. We started this together and we'll end this together."

Tracy placed her hand on his as tears started to roll down her cheeks. "But.....I can't lose you. Not like I have everyone else that has ever gotten close to me."

"But I'm not just anyone." He said as he leaned down and placed his forehead to hers.

She closed her eyes. "No, your not."

"Then let's do this together. So that we can both have our happiness." He said before he gave her a kiss to her forehead as the tears started to pour.

They stayed like that for a few moment as he waited for her to calm down.

"Are we ready?" Tracy heard RJ ask in a calm voice.

Tracy took a deep raspy breath.

Then slowly let it out as she looked up at Bob. "Yeah."

Bob looked at her and smiled. Then he leaned in and gave her a tender kiss.

"Alright, you heard her." The RJ said as he turned to the team. "I want safeties off and guns in hand at all times. This is not a drill people. Keep your wits about ya and take out anything that moves. Besides us and the hostages of course. There is only one person who we will be taking back alive. And that will be Captain Steel himself. Kill everyone else on site. Do you understand me?"

"Yes sir." They said in unison.

"Their all yours." RJ said as he turned back to Tracy.

"Thank you." She said as she nodded at him before she released Bob.

"Ready?" She asked Bob with a serious look.

"For you? Always." He said back with a sincere smile.

She smiled back at him. "Then let's go free Altissia so that we can finally get our happiness."

"Aye aye skipper." He said with a smile as he took the helm and steered them towards the entrance.

She smiled back at him as he expertly brought the boat over to the rock wall. "Somewhere there is a latch that can pressed in. But its hidden from plain view. So you have to feel the wall in order to get it."

"Got it. Keep her steady for us." She said as she gave him a quick kiss before she turned to walk off of the bridge.

"Aye aye love." Bob called after her with a smirk.

She smiled back at him as she walked out to the bow. RJ and a couple other Society team members walked out with her. Then they each took a spot on the wall and started to feel the wall right where they knew that the pirates had gone. The process was slow since they weren't exactly sure what they were feeling for.

But as Tracy ran her hand across the cold rock, she suddenly felt something that felt like cold steel. She lightly knocked and was only slightly surprised when she heard the distinct sound of metal. She then signaled for Bob to move the boat further over so that she could keep searching. Then once he was stead again, she continued where she left off. There was no doubt that this was the door now. The height was right and the rock formation was now replaced with rock textured looking paint that covered a steel plate.

As she ran her hand along it she suddenly came to indent that was no bigger than two fingers. She reached in and felt a button in it. He hand froze over it. She had a feeling that the minute that this button was pressed, that they would be facing gun fire. So she turned and nodded at Bob. He nodded back.  Then she turned and talked to the people behind them.

"I need everyone to lay down flat on the boat and get ready. They will be waiting for us once this door opens. We need to take out as many of them as we can. And we have no idea how many there's are. So be prepared." Tracy said as she turned to the team beside her.

"Yes ma'am." They all said.

Then everyone laid down flat on the deck and put their guns at the ready as they propped them up in front of themselves. Tracy then hit the button and got down herself. Bob slowly backed up the boat a bit to try and keep them out of sight for any immediate gun fire. Which the minute that the afternoon sunlight started pouring into the entrance, a burst of gunfire started to come out.

Immediately everyone started taking out the shooters who were firing at the boat. Tracy watched how several of them fell, but not without taking out one on the bow with her. She took out the one who got him with a head shot. Then she spotted another one trying to take his place. And she took him out as well before he even got set up.

Soon the gun fire died down as they were taken out. Tracy signaled for Bob to move the boat inside. Everyone was on high alert as the boat moved inside and they saw the high walkways that surrounded the room. Tracy couldn't help but to notice the large amount of crates and boxes that seemed to cover the walls and what looked like rows upon rows of shelves full of items.

"Holy Shit." RJ said from beside her. "That's got to be all of the stolen goods. I think we found their main hideout."

"We can look at that later. Right now we have to get the hostages." Tracy said as she slowly starting to stand up as she got ready to jump to the pier as soon as Bob had the boat close enough.

As they approached she could see that there was only one boat on the pier. And that was the boat that she had just seen Captain Steel on. Which led her to believe that the rest of them had been taken out on the water. Which made her slightly pleased. But even knowing that, she knew better than to relax. Especially after the fire fight that they had received when they first arrived. She knew that there were more. And that the rest of the pirates were hiding. Which made them more dangerous than the others.

Tracy jumped onto the pier as soon as the boat was close with her gun at the ready. RJ then jumped off, and was followed shortly by the others who were still alive on the bow. Then two of others started to tie up the boat while Tracy and RJ stood watch to make sure that they weren't going to be shot at while tying down the boat. Once they were done, the rest of the crew got off and joined them on the pier.

"Pair up and search the area. Their in here somewhere." Tracy told everyone as they checked their equipment one more time. "Remember, we're taking Captain Steel alive. No one else. And if your worried about hurting them? Don't. For if you don't kill them, they will kill you. Understood?"

"Yes ma'am." They all responded back.

"Then pair up, fan out and search the area. We have to take out every single one of them. And we have to get the hostages back safe and sound." Tracy said as she nodded to the team.

They all paired up and quickly started to headed out as they searched the room. Bob looked at Tracy and nodded at her as he stayed with her as her partner. Tracy gave him a huge smile. Then they headed out themselves.

The team started to search each area and was pretty deep into the room before the first shots were fired. Tracy wasn't sure who exactly it was that was firing since as soon as they heard it, they found themselves under fire as well. Bob and her only had enough time to quickly get behind a crate as they were fired at with an assault rifle. But as she listened for which direction it was coming from, she was able to pinpoint where the shooter was firing from.

She then signaled to Bob where they were. Then at the sametime, they both popped up and fire back and took them out before ducking back down again as someone else started firing at them. But they were soon taken out the same way. Once they dropped, The two of them listen for a moment as they tried to hear anyone else.

After they didn't hear anything for a moment, they then started to move again as they continued their search. All while they were search, they ran across several others that they easily took out. But Tracy was starting to get a bit worried. The gunfire had seemed to die down else where in the room. She wasn't sure if this was due to the her team taking them out, or if they had been wiped out.

Either way, the silence was unnerving as the two of them keep searching. But then they came across an area that was littered with bodies. Tracy's breath caught as she realized why the room was silent. For it looked like both sides had had a standoff there. And it looked like both sides had lost.

As they walked around and checked their team, Tracy's heart fell with each one. Then she heard one of them as they desperately gasped for air. She quickly went over to them as they were laying up against the shelves as they had their hand to their chest that was covered in blood. As Tracy got closer, her heart started to race.

"RJ!" She quickly said as she got down to see if there was anything that she could do.

But she knew it wasn't good after hearing him taking gasps of air that sounded like he was gargling water. She looked at him and saw several gunshot wounds to the chest. She then knew that his lungs were filling up with fluids and that he would more than likely succumb to his injuries. Tracy looked at him with sad eyes as he looked back at her as if he was tired.

"He came out of nowhere." He said to Tracy. "We didn't see him until it was too late. He got all of us after we had just taken out his crew. I'm sorry. We failed you."

Tracy had tears rolling down her cheeks. "None of you failed. You did exactly what you needed to do. And now I'll finish it for you. And we will free Altissia."

"Thank you." RJ half whispered back as he gave her a slight smile.

But then his body slightly jerked, Tracy watched as the light seemed to disappear from his eyes. Then his head slumped back and his whole body went limp. Then she knew that he was gone. She dropped her gaze as tears started to pour from her eyes as she started to cry for him.

"He's gone love." Bob said as he placed his hand on her shoulder. "But we have to keep going. Captain Steel is still alive. And by the way it looks, so are the hostages. We have to focus on them now."

Tracy nodded her head as she wiped her eyes and stood back up. She knew he was right. But it didn't make it any easier leaving RJ there on the floor along with the rest of the team. But as they walked away to continue the search, she knew that they had to keep going so that they could rescue Camelia's family. No matter what the cost.

******Author Note******

*sniff* *sniff*, sorry. Even I had to cry on that one. RJ might not have been a big character, but that doesn't mean that I didn't still hate to kill him off. Especially since my son named him.

Of course now we are down to only a few people left alive in the room. But who will be the victor in this deadly standoff? Will it end with Tracy and Bob returning safely with Camelia's family. Or will it be a end with a soul wrenching conclusion? You'll just have to read and find out.

Thanks for reading.  :)
