Chapter 19 - The Pools.

"Kowabunga!"

Patton jumped into the air, tucking into a ball as he landed in the water. In case you couldn't tell, we were at the city's pools after long day of doing absolutely no work. We deserved a break after we spent a whole day doing nothing so we decided to go to the pool. Water splashed all around, soaking Logan who had been stitting on the edge with his feet still in the water.

Logan sighed and grumbled. Patton noticed his boyfriend's discontentment and smiled apologetically. He swam over to him, mouth in water so when he breathed bubbled appeared on the surface. He bounced on the bottom of the pool to give himself a boost and pulled Logan into the water with him. Logan screamed as his face submerged into the water.

He pulled it out again and took a breath, playfully glaring at Patton. Patton stuck his tongue out, giggling slightly as he pulled Logan closer and into a hug. He cuddled into the top of the man's swim suit, still giggling. Logan couldn't help but smile at his boyfriend, returning the hug and giving Patton a quick kiss on the forehead which only made the shorter trait giggle more.

Roman sighed as he watched the lovely couple. He wished he had a boyfriend. His thoughts were interrupted when someone splashed the water onto his head with a bucket, laughing to himself as Roman gasped dramatically. Roman turned to glare at them only to see Virgil laughing as he dropped the bucket he was holding, it floating in the water. Roman's eyes sparkled slightly.

Oh yeah, Roman had a boyfriend. Too bad he was an asshole.

He stopped admiring his boyfriend, picking up the bucket and collecting some water. He threw it Virgil's face as he fliched back in surprise, having stopped laughing. Roman started laughing himself and he could see Virgil glare at though his wet bangs that were now sticking to his forehead. And that's how the all out splash war started between the two of them.

I laughed as I watched them. I turned my attention back to Thomas who had the most competitive look I has ever seen him wear. "We still on for that race?" I nodded, a competitive smirk slipping back on my face. He counted down on his fingers, 1, 2 and 3! We both dived into the water, swimming to the other side to try out do the other. I took a deep breath as I grabbed onto the ledge and pulled myself.

I smirked in victory, having beaten Thomas' challenge of a race. However my smirk fell when I noticed Deceit was still sat by the side of the pool on his phone. He promised us that he'd be joining us in a minute, that was over a hour. I pulled myself out of the pool, eying him suspiciously for a moment before standing up and walking up to him to see something wrong.

I stood by him for a few seconds without him noticed before I sat next him. Still nothing, his eyes still glued his phone since he didn't hear me. I sigh and place a hand on his shoulder, him jolting slightly at the touch as he quickly looked at me. "You ok, Dee?" After getting over the shock of my appearance at all, he looked at me like he had no idea what I was talking about. "Uh yeah?"

I raised an eyebrow. I might've of believed him if his eyes hadn't shifted away from mine before quickly back to my eyes again. I had memorized all the signs that he was lying unconsciously. He didn't try to often but when we spent so much more time together, it was pretty obvious when he was. I crossed my arms, genuinely concerned if he was ok. "Deceit. Seriously, you ok?"

He didn't respond. He placed his phone in his bag and looked away from me. My eyes softened slightly, my concern doubling. He glanced at the water in the pool and I saw him shiver a little. Wait a f*cking a minute! "You can swim right?" Deceit's eyes burst wide as he struggled to find the words to speak as realization crossed

Eventually he able to form a coherent sentence, denying what I was accusing him of. "What? O-of cou-course, I can swim! Don't be ridiculous!" I searched his eyes for a moment before I was smiling. Then I was smirking. Stiffling a chuckle. And letting it out, a laugh ripping though me. "Oh my God, you can't swim!" I couldn't deny that the thought was hilarious.

Ever imtaiding Deceit not being able to swim was forever amusing. Pink flush across the scales of his face as he sank into his seat. "Wha- hey! Stop laughing, it isn't funny!" I attempted to apologize but my laughter never stopped not matter how much I wanted to. I wheezed as I shook my head before taking a deep breath. I offered my hand to him and he hesitantly took it in his embarrassment.

I gently guided him up from his seat. Deceit's gaze remained fixated on his feet as he avoided my eyes. I smiled sadly at him before nuzzling my nose with his like bunnies to get his attention, making him look at me. I chuckled a little before I spoke. "Come on, we just hang out in the shallow end or I could teach you if you like?" He looked a little unsure, searching my eyes for something.

I squeezed his hand comfortingly. After a while, he sighed and nodded, letting me drag him into the water. He shivered a little when he got in the water which I found funny. I tried to teach him to swim and he got it surprisingly quick for someone who had claimed they had never swam before. After regrouping with the others, we actually had a lot of fun with everyone.

A few hours past before we were beginning to get out the pool. I was throwing in some stuff into the bag we bought when I felt a familiar pair for strong arms wrap around me from behind. Knowing who it was, I nuzzled into it. "Thanks for getting me in the water babe." I practically jolted at the choice of words. We never really used nicknames like babe, this was the first time.

And my cheeks could not handle how goddamn flustered I was.

He probably felt it, letting go of me and taking a step forward so I could see him. I couldn't bring myself to look at him directly, my eyes simply darting around everywhere. "Is it too much?" Deceit spoke, genuine concern in his voice which was kinda rare. He did try to not be to emotional available with his fellow sides but that seemly went completely out the window most of the when it was me.

That made me feel a little special, smiling a little bit. "N-no, it just surprised me is all." He smirked at me and pulled me into a side hug. "Well, that's good... babe." He gave me a quick peak on the cheek and let me go, going to see the others. I could practically hear the familiar confidence in his voice that I had to except from my boyfriend which didn't help the persistent warmth on my cheeks.
