Chapter 18 - Matchmakers.

If you're confused by anything that happens in this chapter, I suggest you take a quick skim read of about chapter five onwards in my book rooftop sunset. You don't have to to understand what happens and probably shouldn't because that story is actual trash but if you want some background on this... there you go.

The perfect plan was set.

After I managed to convinced Deceit to help his arch enemy get a boyfriend, which trust me was not  easy, we began to put our plan into action. We picked a few roses and sprinkled them across the hallway from both their rooms, leading to a certain area of the house that Virgil had told me was special to both of them. Or should I say outside the house?

The petals led to an open window that was just below the roof. On that very roof was where Virgil often went to clear his mind and when he shared that place with Roman was when they really connected for the first time. It was special place to both of them and I figured it could set the mood. I had texted the both of them to come out their rooms at just the right time and then it began.

When Roman left his room, he was surprised by the flowers that led around the corner. Still, he followed his instincts and followed them to see where they led, unable to hold back his curiosity. Virgil, on the other hand, was far more suspicious of the petals that lined the hallway. However, despite his gut telling him not to, he too followed where the rose petals led to.

But gut feelings aren't always right.

After a while, they caught sight of eachother, Roman smiling brightly as he rushed over and Virgil tried his best not to return it. "Oh hey Virgil, you know what's going on?" To his dismay, Virgil shook his head. The anxious trait pointed to the window that both the trails of petals stopped at. "No idea but I'm guessing P/P wants us to go up onto the roof." Roman nodded in agreement at the guess.

Virgil sat on the window ledge again and held his hand out for Roman to take so Virgil could help him up. Despite now being much more athletic then he was the first time and was most likely to get up on his own, he still wordlessly let Virgil take his hand. Virgil pulled him up to sit on his legs, holding him close by the waist. The postion they were in reminded him of what happened the first time they went to the roof, making Roman go a light pink.

After quickly checking that Roman was still ok which he was, Virgil grabbed hold of the edge of the roof and gently stood up slightly, drifting his feet against the wall to stop from falling. He pushed off the wall, Roman gripped Virgil tighter who laughed. Virgil swung a bit to gain momentum before Roman could reach the ledge and pulled himself, Virgil following soon after.

Once they got up, Roman turned around the view of the sunset, it taking his breath away as it did the first time. "Wow, I forgot how beautiful the sunset looked from up here!" Virgil smiled at him, standing with up with ease. Roman shakily attempted to stand as well, nearly falling forward off the roof. Virgil put his hand on Roman's shoulder so the prince stayed in place while regaining his balance. "Careful, don't fall again."

Roman rolled his eyes at the comment, mocking with a fake laugh. Virgil suddenly went serious. "Seriously you freakin' scared me last time."

"Oh, alright." After that, they just sat together.

The watched the beautiful sunset and sliently reminiscing about the first time they were up there. Roman looked like he had something on his mind like this place reminded him of something which was exactly what I wanted. He squeezed his hands into fists, gripping the roof tiles as he spoke, still looking at the gorgeous sunset in front of him. "Virgil, remember when I told you that kiss was spur of moment?"

Virgil turned to him as their peaceful silence was interrupted. He was confused and honestly quite disheartened that Roman brought it up in the first place. "...yeah." He spoke hesitantly. Roman sighed, turning around to face Virgil fully. "I lied. Virgil, I liked you a lot. I still do..." Roman looked away out of fear of how Virgil would react, as the traits eyes expanded in shock.

There was a pause.

And then Virgil stated laughing, leaning back in his laughing fit as he held his forehead. A dejected look crossed Roman's face, as he tried to understand why the anxious side was laughing. Normally, the shorter side laughing was a treat but now it just confused him. "What's so funny?" Virgil moved his hand to his chest and leaned over his knees as he attempted to stop laughing.

He managed to stutter something coherant though his laughter. "You. You have no standards!" If possible, Roman's face fell even more. He cupped Virgil's cheek, the man immediately stopped laughing. The princely man slowly and gently guided Virgil's face to his own, giving him the time to pull away if he wanted to. It never came so their lips meet softly as I sliently fist pumped myself.

"Yes, best matchmakers ever!" I turned to Deceit, holding my hand out for a high five. He jokingly rolled his eyes and raised his gloved hand, high fiving me. Before he could pull his hand away, I interlocked our hands. He smirked at me and pulled my hand to his lips, kissing it gently. I blushed and unconsciously pulled my hand away. I could never get used to this, it still made me flustered everytime.
