Chapter 29

This is definitely the last chapter before the epilogue.

I also started a Harry Potter fanfic if anyone wants to read that hot mess.

Emma

It had taken a week for Alec to let me out of our bedroom.

It was a well known fact that Alpha males are extremely possessive of their females just after mating. That was triply true for Alec. He was more dominant as Alpha King and I did spend a long time avoiding him. His wolf wants to be sure that I am his and he is mine. I surely don't regret it.

Even when Alec let me out after a week, he didn't leave my side and more often than not we ended up back in bed. Not that I particularly mind, but I don't like being cooped up. It took him two weeks after the end of the official month before I could even mention heading back to the Smith Organization to clear things up. The problem was that Alec and his wolf associates the Smith Organization with me leaving. Therefore he doesn't want me to go back and change my mind, not that I would.

That's how three weeks later after the beginning of our mating I managed to get myself over to the HQ of the Smith Organization. Everyone knew that I was stepping down because I was now mated. I appreciated that everyone understood. I had been afraid that they wouldn't, but it appears that my fear was unfounded.

During our time in the bedroom also, the Alpha King of Europe finally left. he couldn't stand see Alec and I happy when Sabrina couldn't even be near him. In fact, I sent her over to Australia about three weeks ago to make sure that her mate would be thrown off. I sense a very long cat and mouse game that was going to happen between those two. After all, Eric is much more thick-headed than Alec and won't learn his lesson at first.

Lost in my thoughts, I didn't see the front door of HQ open and Laurine come running out, "EMMA!" That was the only warning I got before she threw herself at me for a hug. Sometimes, she didn't seem like that mature of an adult.

"Hey, Laurine."

She smiled and released me from her bone-crushing hug, "What's up?"

I smiled back at her, "I just need to tie up some loose ends here before I run off into the sunset with my mate."

Laurine laughed, "Whatever you need, I'm happy for you. When you were child, everyone was worried that you were too serious. I would have believed that if I hadn't seen you with your brothers, but on a mission, you guys were scary."

I follow her into the building, "I get it."

I get various greetings from the people here. They all know that I am now mated to the Alpha King of North and South America and they get it. I have every intention to help more rogues as Alpha Queen. If anyone expects me to be a meek queen who listens to her mate, they are about to get a rough awakening.

In no time at all, I'm sitting in what used to be my office and Laurine is standing, "Sorry for taking your spot."

She waves it off, "Since this is basically the last time you will be so casual with us, it's fine and technically it's still your chair."

I shake my head, "I made my choice. I can now do more good on the legal side of things."

Laurine brings us back to task, "Let's finish this up."

I spin on my chair, "Yes. So, I am giving you control of the Smith Organization with your mate, Stefan. I know you two cannot have kids, so I already have a set of heirs for you. It's my younger sisters, Ashley and Laura. They're only just turned four years old. I finally got Mom to agree and my sisters want to. They would inherit it when they turn 18 or when you die."

We're able to talk about our deaths really easily because in our line of work, you never know what could happen. We are mostly desensitized to that kind of thing. At least, Sabrina and I are. This is a serious matter, so we have to consider all possibilities including ones that result in our death.

Laurine adds, "If Stefan and I die before their 17th birthday, they would still be too young to take over. Ava could come or Max could take over."

I nod, "Agreed. Mom is willing to hand you the twins on the weekends for training when they turn six. When they turn ten, they will have the choice to either keep coming three days a week or move here. I still want them to finish school and get a bachelor's degree in something."

She rolls her eyes, "Not everyone can be you, having a bachelor's degree in veterinary medicine at 18."

I laugh, "Fine, only graduating high school. They can pick what they want to do after. Also, I know they said yes now, but I don't want to force them. Any time they choose that they no longer want to do this, they can back out. In that case, either Connor, my youngest brother, can be considered or my triplet niece and nephews, Alexander, Noah or Mia. I got my brothers also to agree that they be trained because any of them could be targets because I am Alpha Queen or was the Head of the Smith Organization."

Laurine takes it all down on paper, "This is all pretty simple."

I shrug, "We just need to sign off on everything. Also, I'm thinking that we should get an actual human who we trust to take over the mafia business. We could become less connected."

She nods, "Consider it done."

I stand up, "Then I need a drink."

Laurine, "No, you won't."

I frown, "Why the hell not?!"

"You could be pregnant."

I shake my head, "No."

"You could be."

"I don't wanna, I wanna drink!"

Laurine gives me one of her famous looks and I give up, "Fine, but if I turn out not to be pregnant, I'll be really fucking pissed."

She chuckles, "With the amount of times, you had sex the past three weeks, I would be shocked if you weren't."

I shoved her playfully, "I really don't want to talk about my sex life with you."

Laurine wriggles her eyebrows suggestively, "But-"

I cut her off, "Never. How are things here?"

She sighed, "Pretty good. We got some crazy rogues coming out of nowhere, but they are not like the others. They're sane enough to follow instructions of their leader and keep doing it until they die. It's really strange."

I frown, "How is that possible? Once rogues lose their mind, there is only their wolf."

Laurine nods, "I think that's the point."

I had a light bulb go off in my head, "You mean like wild wolves."

She smiles, "You're getting it."

I start pacing the length of the room like my habit is when I'm figuring shit out, "So, this leader dude is proving himself to be the Alpha of the wolves by defeating them. That's why the wolves follow his instructions because this Alpha would kill them otherwise. Damn, it's brilliant. No one would think that this leader guy is acting like an actual wolf and using our instinctive order against us. It's awful, but so damn smart."

Laurine leans against the wall, "I'm going to miss you when you leave. It's so much harder to figure out this shit by myself."

I laugh, "You'll manage. I however am going to live a longer life than I would have, staying here."

She laughs with me, "Not even go help with this self-fashioned Alpha."

I shake my head, "That sounds like a you problem."

Laurine sighs somewhat sadly, "I know, I'm going to miss the us problems."

I walk over to her side, "I won't. And you know what I'm really not going to miss?"

"What?"

"You stopping me from drinking."

She rolls her eyes, "If you are pregnant, it could be damanging to the baby."

I shrug, "I'm from Alpha descent and basically had an Alpha position here. The father of the baby is the Alpha King. I'm sure that baby will get their shit together and pull through."

Laurine gives me a disapproving look, "You don't sound like a good mother."

It's my turn to roll my eyes, "Did you think Mom wasn't drinking for the first month she was pregnant with us? She drank herself silly at least once a week and had a glass every day. I turned out fine."

She looks me up and down, "Are you sure about that fact?"

I elbow her in the side, "Hey!"

"Is for horses."

I cross my arms, "Fuck you."

"I don't swing that way even if I know you do on occasion."

I stare at her, "You are way too old for me and not even my type."

Laurine burst into giggles, "The look on your face!"

I glare at her, the traitor, "I hope you die."

"That's not very nice."

"Does it look like I give a fuck?"

"No."

I smirk, "Finally, something you got right."

Laurine smirks right back, "I invited your mom over."

"WHAT?! NO!" I am not proud to admit that I screeched like a banshee.

She cringes a little at my tone, "What's wrong with Ava?"

I put my face in my hands, "She's going to make comments about more grand-kids. I mean she already has five and three more kids around that age. She's only 38 years old, she should be the type of woman who feels that she is too young to be a grandmother."

Laurine shrugs, "Don't look at me to explain your mother, I gave up the moment I met her."

"EMMA!"

She shoves me a little to get me moving, "Your mom is here."

"I know."

"You should go greet her, I mean she did just call you."

"No."

"What?"

"Did I motherfucking stutter?"

Laurine starts laughing again, "Sometimes I forget how much of a riot you are."

I glare at her again, "I hope you burn in Hell."

"I'll see you there."

The door of my ex-office slammed open and there was my mother, "My baby!"

I sigh, "Hey, mom!"

She immediately starts lecturing me, "No word for over five weeks! I taught you better than that-"

I cut her off, "Actually you haven't, you disappeared for two months once with no explanations."

That stumped her, "Well, that's different."

I ignore my mother and turn to my fathers, "Can one of you please convince Laurine to let me drink?"

Asher frowns, "Why can't you?"

Laurine buts in, "Because she could be pregnant."

"ALREADY?" practically yelled Ryder. It's too weird for me to call them Dad or Father. I'm still not used to it. My brothers did, but then again I stayed at the Smith Organization and they moved into the pack house.

I sigh, "I don't think so."

Mom rubs her hands together in anticipation, "I hope so. Do you want a girl or a boy?"

I give her an annoyed look, "I want my nice scotch that's in those cabinets."

"Is it the one you brought from Scotland? asked Asher.

I nod, "Yup."

"So where did you say it was?" Ryder is searching my cabinets.

I point it out to him, "There."

He finds it and pours three glasses, "Lovely."

I grin, "Does that mean I can drink?"

Laurine stops me from reaching for a glass, "No."

I glare at her once again, "If it turns out that I'm not pregnant, I will skin you alive-"

It was at that moment that the phone choose to ring. It sure likes to do that at the worse moments. I was in the middle of a very important threatening session for alcohol, my nice alcohol. This isn't fair.

After the first ring, I am the first to pick it up, "Hello?"

A nervous voice comes over the phone, "I was given this phone number to reach for the future Alpha Queen during her time away. Could I speak to her?"

I immediately take on a more serious facade, "This is her. What's wrong?"

The unknown man continued, "The Alpha King of Europe dropped by for a visit and some words were exchanged. The foreign Alpha set off the Alpha King and I think he's going to kill him."

"WHAT?"

He began repeating himself and I stop him, "I'll be there in a minute."

Everyone is looking at me in concern and Laurine asks, "What's wrong?"

I tell her, "Shit went down and I have to stop a murder. Do you still have my bike."

"The revamped one?" questioned Laurine.

I smirk, "Yup."

She nods, "It's where you left it."

With no further words, I take off. I had the motorcycle worked upon to hit super fast speeds. As a werewolf, the accidents can't really kill me and my reflexes are more toned which equals less accidents. I find my bike and take off. I can't believe that Alec got himself into a fight already. I isn't my job to clean up after him.

.

.

.

Actually, it kind of is. I am the only one who can calm him and therefore the one to call for any fights. Damn it, this isn't what I signed up for.

I sigh, at least I'll get some angry sex out of this. Life could be worse.
