Chapter 25
Chapter 25
Our first class back was Defense. We had to sit though another boring lesson, and I learned absolutely nothing. Quirrell knew very little about what he was saying. Sure, he was smart, but he was also a stammering, stuttering mess. I didn't care for his class, and barely made it through. The next class was Transfiguration. I always loved that class. McGonagall made it interesting and fun.
Then it was lunch. I ate quickly, trying to get out of there before the Pride took notice of me. They saw me as I tried to leave. Potter and Weasley got up right away, then Longbottom and Granger did too. I hurried out of the Great Hall and back to the Common Room, but they caught up with me about halfway there. "I missed you over Christmas. I had a great time with Padfoot and Moony. They gave me great presents, and Sirius told me stories of when the Marauders were here. I got some good ideas that we should try. Come on. Follow me." So he led us outside. I couldn't get away from them. The farther we went, the more scared I got. We were going away from people. Away from anyone who might hear us. Finally, he stopped. "You know, my dad was popular for a lot of reasons, but the main ones were Quidditch and Snape. Yeah, he was a great guy, depending on who you ask." I interrupted him.
"Yes, isn't it that way with everybody though? And I think he was terrible, from what I have heard of the Marauders, and just let me commend you for your great work at replicating them. Truly outstanding. I am sure that they would be so proud. Thanks for the history lesson, but I really have to go. I need to talk to Snape." I said, hoping they would let me go. Potter just laughed. "You got in trouble with him over Christmas?! Well done, however, I can't just let you go without a quiz. The lesson would not mean anything then. Hermione, ask the hardest question you know, and you know what, make it Potions related, as that is where she is going next. Go on."
She nodded. "Alright. How do you make a Polyjuice Potion? Don't leave anything out." I smirked. "Alright. First, add 3 measures of fluxweed to the cauldron, and they must have been picked on a full moon. Then, you add 2 bundles of knotgrass to the cauldron. Stir 4 times, clockwise. Wave your wand then let potion brew for 80 minutes for a pewter cauldron. A brass cauldron will only require 68, and a copper cauldron is only 60. Then, add 4 leeches to the cauldron. Then you will add 2 scoops of lacewing flies to the mortar, crush to a fine paste, then add 2 measures of the crushed lacewings to the cauldron. Heat for 30 seconds on a low heat. Wave your wand to complete this stage of the potion. Next, add 3 measures of boomslang skin to the cauldron. Then you add 1 measure of bicorn horn to the mortar, crush to a fine powder, then add one measure of the crushed horn to the cauldron.Heat for 20 seconds at a high temperature.Wave your wand then let potion brew for 24 hours for a Pewter Cauldron. A Brass Cauldron will only require 1224 minutes, and a copper one only 18 hours. Then, add 1 additional scoop of lacewings to the cauldron. Stir 3 times, counter-clockwise. Split the potion into multiple doses, if you want, then add the pieces of the person you wish to become. Wave your wand to complete the potion. Now I really must be going." Then I just walked away.
(I got the directions from the fandom website, not Pottermore.)
