chapter 2
10 months went by quickly, even though I savored every second of intense training and irritating disobedience.
I watched old films of sports festivals, looked at the yearbooks, the history, the heroes, villains, anything.
I was trained for combat, skills, special moves.
I was given the option, I could use whichever quirk I wanted. I could use my gun quirk, I could use Sludge. But only if I wanted, because Nezu understands I may not want to.
The boy that Sludge held captive was applying to U.A., at first, I felt guilty, but after seeing him ruthlessly take the robots down, it gave me determination.
Hopefully, he won't hate me when he finds out my quirk. Though that's stupid I'm hoping, he's literally a bomb on legs. He'll hate me. Dang.
Oh well, I'm not really here to make friends, so it doesn't really matter if he doesn't like me. Friends are a want, grades and skill are a need.
I lived with a pro hero, because of the villain issue. Snipe, my number one trainer. He trained me to shoot, to attack, properly. I'm really grateful for him, he's a kind master, funny, too. Very respectful and polite. He's a good father figure, I really admire him.
Now, I had my uniform on, checking it out. Nezu gave it to me today. It looks surprisingly good on me, and my hair and eyes match the colors of the uniform. Dark green hair and red eyes.
Tomorrow was the day U.A. started, and I couldn't wait. I was put in class 1-A. I was allowed to use both my quirks, but it was my choice. If I didn't feel comfortable using Sludge, it's fine because it's not a necessity, I have my second quirk.
I sat onto my cozy bed, letting Sludge out.
"You're gonna behave, right? You're not gonna force yourself out?"
"Sure, whatever." He rolled his eyes.
"Hey, this is serious. I'll block you out."
"That's not fair!"
"Then don't force yourself out!"
"Fine!"
And so, that's how we settled the night.
The next morning, Snipe woke me up.
I was excited, I did my morning routine out of order. I put my clothes on, took them off to shower, brushed my teeth and then ate breakfast.
Really, what was wrong with me?
Luckily I figured everything out, and ended up at the door of class 1-A in my uniform and backpack. Snipe pat me on the back before walking away to his hero duties.
I paced in front of the room, talking to Sludge out loud, though he was still inside me. (If y'all say anything—ya nasty)
Eventually I walked in, and all eyes landed on me. I awkwardly shuffled to my seat, between a boy with bi-colored hair, and a girl with black spiky hair. I paid no attention to them, though.
You see, I have 0 social skills. I don't know how to start a conversation with kids my age.
Adults are easy to talk to, always polite and nice to strike up a conversation with.
Nezu was a bit of a different story, due to the face that he was talking to me about my quirk and my past, but it ended up okay. I still don't know how to talk to him.
The only person I can talk to is Snipe, but that's because he's a very kind person who never makes anything awkward.
Sludge has been with me for most of my life, so you can tell we're not awkward around each other anymore.
Suddenly, the girl with spiky hair turned to me rather quickly, and smiled brightly.
"Hello! I'm Momo Yaoyorozu!" I jumped. "You must be Asako Okada!" She smiled brightly.
My eyes widened, how did she know my name?
She must've caught onto my confused face, because she smiled brighter and said, "it was in the email of recommendation, you were one of the recommended students. You must be really strong!"
"I-I'm not so sure about that?" I squeaked, feeling awkward.
"Ah, I bet you are! Don't be modest. What's your quirk? Mine's creation. I can make things as long as I know what they're made of."
"I-I can spawn things?" I told her, but it sounded more like a question. I wasn't so sure myself.
Her smile never went away, as she started fangirling over my quirk.
"Really? How does it work? Is it only one thing, or everything?"
"Uh, well, only one thing..."
"What is it?"
"A-A gun?"
"May I see?"
I was uncomfortable with this situation, I could feel the boy behind me's eyes burning into the back of my head.
"Uh," I held my hands out over my desk and my hands glowed a soft green before twin m9 looking guns popped out.
"Wow! Asako Okoda, you're so cool!"
That compliment shook me, so I replied honestly, "it's nothing, you can create anything—"
I heard a squeal from the front of the classroom, a curly green haired boy with freckles stared at me.
"Your last name is Okoda? Are your parents the pro heroes of America, Drago Master and Sythe?!"
Now, all eyes were on me, and I cowered into my seat.
Momo was now grinning, "your parents are pro heroes?!"
I knew they were pros, but I could never do research on them, I never had access to technology, and since I moved in with Snipe, I never thought to.
Luckily, at that exact moment, the pro hero, Eraser-head, also known as Shota Aizawa, one of the pros I trained with over the ten months, arrived in his yellow sleeping bag.
"If you're here to fawn over each other, now's not the time. If you're here to make friends, get out. This is a hero academy, act like you're in it. I know this is sudden, but put these on and meet me at training ground B." He told us, holding out a blue, white and red U.A. training uniform.
We all took ones our size and went to the changing rooms to change, before making our way outside.
Once we were outside, we were greeted by our gloomy sensei, who had his hands in his pockets.
"We're going to have a quirk apprehension test."
"Ehh?!" Most of the class was shocked.
"What about the ceremony?!" A girl with brown hair asked.
"This is a hero school, there's no time for ceremony's. They're useless to your training." He stated, monotone.
(I didn't rewatch the anime for this so I'm so sorry I'm just gonna go with what I remember or something)
"You've been doing these since Junior high, with the exception of quirks. Bakugo, you got the highest points in the entrance exam, what's your best result for the softball throw?"
"67 meters." An ash blonde boy with red eyes answered.
"Do it with your quirk," Aizawa told him, handing him a ball. He explained the rules, and the boy got into position, stretching.
"DIE!" he yelled, throwing the ball with an explosion propelling the ball higher. Everyone sweatdrop from his word choice.
"Know your max first, that'll help you on your way to become a hero." He held up a device, reading the numbers...
"705.2 meters?!" The class yelled in shock.
"Sounds like fun!" Someone said excitedly.
"Sounds like fun? You have 3 years to train to be a hero, will you have that attitude for the whole of it? Whoever comes last in all 8 tests will be expelled."
I raised a brow.
The class seemed to argue with him, but he simply replied with, "the teachers are allowed to do whatever we want with our students. Welcome to U.A."
The brown haired girl complained about it being unfair, but Aizawa shut her down.
"Not fair? Do you think that villain attacks are fair, when you are choosing between life or death in a fight, it's not always fair." Was the sum of it.
Test 1: 50m dash.
It's possible I could use my main quirk for this, but I decide against it. My running is quite fast from training, anyways.
"Ready, start!" The girl beside me, the brown haired girl that was sassed by Aizawa immediately ran forward, as did I, but I was running a bit lower with my feet light and my arms behind me. (Naruto run lol)
I completed the test in 5.6 seconds, which wasn't too bad.
She completed at 9 seconds or something, panting at the end.
Test 2: Grip Strength
I turned my back from everyone, Sludge's slimy arm wrapping around mine, before gripping the machine. He swallowed it whole.
"Are you serious?" I muttered to him.
"What? At least I can handle being squeezed now."
I rolled my eyes, making my way (DOWNTOWN no jk) to Aizawa, asking for a new one. He seemed to understand the situation and gave me a new one. I did the same thing, and ended with a result of 251.2 kg. I was proud of Sludge.
Test 3: Standing Long Jump
Again, I could've used Sludge to boost me, but I decided not to. Everyone was watching. I decided to spawn my twin guns, and just as I jumped, the knives from the bottom of the guns stretched to the ground, boosting me high. Not as high as Sludge would've helped, but still fairly high. I twisted my wrist which made my knives push me forward, and my guns disappeared back into it's place inside me.
Test 4: Repeated Side Steps
I could've used Sludge, but I didn't. Would I ever use him?
Test 5: Ball Throw
It'd be useful if I used Sludge to whip his arm with the ball in it, throwing it far. But I ended up with a measly 40m.
Test 6: Sit Ups
My sit up count was impressive. My record was probably 249, but I only got 201.
Test 7: Seated Toe Touch
Now, imagine if I actually used my quirk to reach the end of the measuring device. That'd be hysterical.
Test 8: Long Distance Run
My stamina was great, but after wasting a bit of energy on each test, I didn't get as far as my best.
That was the last test, so Aizawa pushed a button on this device which projected the results.
I wss 7th, which wasn't bad, I didn't use my quirk a lot, but can't say I didn't use it.
"I was lying about the expulsion," Aizawa stated, making the boy that made it last sigh in happiness.
Momo scratched the back of her head. "You guys didn't know? Oh, I guess I'm sorry for not telling you."
"Eh?!" The class yelled, confused as to how she knew.
I just muttered to myself, Sludge had just started an argument with me.
The dual-haired boy stared at me curiously.
