Chapter sixteen

~Gabriel's POV~

Fucking shit! Trouble was in a shit ton of trouble!

"Gabriel! Stop stalling and get me the fuck out of this bubble!" North growled once again.

I cursed and went back to melting the ice encasing my brother while the two idiots behind me laughed their asses off.

"Shut the fuck up, the two of you and do something goddamn useful!" I shouted at them while trying to open a hole big enough for my big assed brother to pass through.

"Faster, Gabriel!" North shouted at me again.

"Cool down, goddamn it!" I snapped at him, "It's not my fault your ass is so big that I have to open a crater on this thing for you to pass through!"

He growled back at me furiously and I knew I was going to get it once he was out of the damn bubble, but truthfully, I didn't give a shit.

My worries were all for that beautiful trouble-maker.

We, meaning Luke, North and I, could all see in our minds as she ran through the city, heading to God only knows where.

"What the fuck are you staring at, you damned dog?" North growled from inside his bubble and I followed his line of sight to see "Shaggy" looking at North with a canine smirk on his face.

North growled at the dog while the animal just wagged his tail happily.

The three of us winced when she got hurt and Silas became somber, understanding without us having to tell him that shit got real bad.

When North was finally free we rushed to the jeep and got inside, Luke and I taking the backseats while North drove and Silas sat shotgun.

"Where are we going?" Silas asked.

"The hospital." North growled back at him.

"They didn't go there yet." Luke said.

"No. But they will once Sang baby is done kicking the ass of that fucker." North said darkly.

I just nodded, silently agreeing with him. We weren't getting a lot of information coming from Sang and didn't dare distract her with our questions either, but a thing we knew for sure.

She was fucking furious.

Like, murderously furious.

And it was fucking hot, I thought with a smirk.

But I was still going to tan that beautiful ass of hers bright pink when we got there.

~Sang's POV~

The trip to the hospital should have been a quick one since we weren't that far away, but it felt endless.

I was in the backseat with Kota to one side and Dr. Green on the other. Dr. Roberts sat up front, talking quietly with the owner of the car who was giving us a ride.

Kota was talking with Mr. Blackbourne on the phone and with my hearing I could listen to both ends of the conversation.

It seemed that Victor and Mr. Blackbourne were already at the hospital waiting for us.

My wound throbbed painfully in time with my head. The headache was in part because of hunger and in part because of North's voice, or rather shouts, reverberating inside my skull.

For the hundredth time I considered blocking him, but I knew better than doing that with him.

"Pookie," Dr. Green called for my attention and I opened my eyes to look at him, only then noticing that I had closed them. "Will you feed? Please?"

I glanced down from his mesmerizing green eyes and saw that he was offering his wrist to me.

I shook my head, "I can wait..." I began to protest even thought my stomach was beginning to hurt only to be interrupted by Kota.

"Please, Sang, do it now." He was polite in his request but I didn't mistake it for anything other than an order.

With a resigned sigh I took hold of Dr. Green's hand, interlacing our fingers together to make sure I had a firm grip before I began my usual ritual.

At the first lick of his skin his heart began to beat faster and I heard his breathing hitch.

The second lick made him bit his lower lip and I could see how his pupils had begun dilating.

Placing a regretful kiss over his pulse point I pulled back and sank my fangs, drinking deeply.

My eyes closed with relief, the pain in my body going away almost automatically.

Sean tasted as good as the rest of his brothers did and I struggled with myself to let him go before taking too much. The wound had left me hungrier than usual.

Once I was done feeding I licked his wound closed and opened my eyes.

He was leaning over me, his blonde curls falling around his face almost hiding his sparkling green eyes.

I felt a blush staining my cheeks at the look in his face. Dr. Green was flirty and playful and I often saw him with an amused look in his eyes.

But now they looked just soft and caring while his expression remained unusually serious.

"Better now, Pookie?" he asked me softly, his voice a whisper of fresh air over my heated skin.

I nodded at him, not trusting my voice not to tremble at the moment.

He smiled gently, "Good. I am happy to know that I could help." He said while lifting one hand to caress my cheek lightly.

I swallowed deeply, my blush becoming brighter.

"Ahem!" Kota cleared his throat beside us, making me jump and Sean glance at him in amusement.

"Really, Kota? You would make a perfect chaperone a few years back, you know that?"

"And you would be a rogue, Dr. Sean." He said seriously, making me smile.

Sean's phone began ringing and we stared at him as he picked up the call.

"Hello. Yes, I did. What? Okay, I will make sure of that. Bye."

I narrowed my eyes, already knowing what that talk had just been about.

Sean turned his gaze to mine, looking suddenly stern, "That was North, he said that Sang needs another feeding."

I opened my mouth to protest but was interrupted by Mr. Blackbourne's voice coming through the phone.

"Do you need more blood, Miss Sorenson?" he asked me seriously, having heard Dr. Green's declaration.

I wanted to tell him that I didn't, that I was okay with just on feeding a day, but that wasn't the truth and I couldn't lie to him.

"Yes." I said softly.

"Very well, in that case Mr. Lee can help you once you reach the hospital." He said in a commanding tone of voice.

I nodded silently, before saying a quiet "yes" to him, knowing that there was no arguing this point with him.

~Kota's POV~

As soon as we arrived at the hospital I began to feel calmer.

Crazy vampires with mind bending abilities and a Panther that turned into Sang are a bit too much for my nerves. Especially all in the same day.

We were in Academy territory now and could relax. Once we were out of the car and inside the building we all headed to Dr. Green's office where we would wait for the others.

"Princess," Victor immediately greeted her with a goofy smile.

"Miss Sorenson," Mr. Blackbourne said sternly and Sang sighed before walking towards me.

I offered her my wrist and gave her an encouraging smile when she stood before me.

She smiled back at me, her gaze apologetic as she took hold of my hand in much the same manner as I had seen her doing with the others previously.

Dr. Green was sitting behind his desk with his feet propped up on it while Mr. Blackbourne glared at him and Victor stood nearby, gaze focused on Sang.

My attention was distracted from them when I felt the rasp of Sang's tongue against my skin and a shiver ran up my spine at the feeling. I felt a blush begin to stain my cheeks when she licked me again and I knew my heart had begun to speed up.

This was embarrassing, maybe if I began counting...

One, one-thousand...

Her kiss only served to make my heart leapt.

Two, one-thousand...

Three, ...Fail.

Beeeeep!

My brain shut down the moment she sank her fangs in me.

I felt a rush as my adrenaline spiked and her soft lips began sucking on my skin, causing a pleasant shiver to tremble through me every time she pulled more blood from my body.

I gulped and tried to control myself.

Four, one-thousand...

Five, one-thousand...

Six, one-thousand...

That was as far as I managed before my mind blanked and I could only feel what she unwittingly did to my body.

When did my wrist become so sensitive?

When she pulled away I took a deep breath and tried to center myself but that thought was shot down by the sudden barrage of emotions that snapped into my head.

Worry. Affection. A little annoyance...

Looking down at Sang I saw that she was watching me intently while I got my bearings.

It was then that I realized that it was her feelings that I was receiving.

I blinked down at her, "Something is wrong?" I wondered if it was me that was annoying her.

She rolled her eyes and smiled at me, "North is still shouting inside my head, how he manages to do that while driving is a mystery to me."

I frowned and pulled my phone out of my pocket once I realized I could also feel the headache he was unknowingly causing her.

Silas was the one who answered the phone, "Si, put it on speaker, please. North, stop bothering Sang, you are giving her a headache." I told him sternly.

The sound of laughing and shouting could be heard in the background and I didn't bother with listening to them before hanging up the phone.

Sang was eyeing me with a grateful smile on her face, "At least those things are useful for something after all." She mumbled quietly under her breath while staring at the phone in my hand.

I looked down at it, "We should get you one as well. I don't know why we haven't yet."

She shook her head.

No need, Kota.

My eyes widened. I could hear her voice clearly but I could swear she hadn't moved her mouth.

Did my brain short-circuit from the feel of her sweet lips on my wrist alone? What would happen if she were to actually kiss me, then?

She smirked at me in amusement, her beautiful eyes lighting in merriment as her cheeks reddened in clear embarrassment.

I can read what you are thinking, Kota.

She said in my mind and I jumped startled, my brain quickly computing the implications of such a thing while my heart filled with mortification.

But it is a two-way street, which means you can read my thoughts as well if you focus properly. It is all about control. She said with a comforting tone of voice.

Just as I was about to answer the door to the office slammed open and I jumped again, startled.

Sang turned slowly to face the door, clearly not feeling the least bit surprised.

"You are fucking grounded, Trouble!" Gabriel grumbled as soon as he walked through the door, going straight to Sang and pulling her into a hug.

Luke, obviously not wanting to wait for his chance to hug her as well, went ahead and hugged the both of them, keeping Sang between him and Gabriel.

I could feel how Sang felt both embarrassed and extremely happy at being hugged by both of my brothers.

Cocking my head to the side I began to concentrate, trying to sort through all the confusing emotions and impressions that I was receiving from her, separating emotions from thoughts.

It was all very confusing, but as the minutes passed I began to find a pattern and managed to get a better grasp at what she was feeling.

She was happy at having us close, she loved the way the guys were hugging her now because she... really cared for both of them, equally.

My eyes widened at that realization.

North came storming into the room, ready to lecture her some more while his gaze looked her up and down in a worried manner that had nothing to do with the fact that she was dressed only in Dr. Roberts' coat.

She listened to him quietly and apologized for running off and all the while the main emotions that I could detect from her were affection, devotion and what I suspected might be love.

She loves us all.

The thought staggered me. Could I be right?

She didn't answer me and I wondered if she didn't hear or if she was just ignoring me for the moment.

But now I understood why the others seemed to go through a change in behavior right after Sang bit them. She wasn't just taking our blood; she was forming a bond and a very strong one of complete openness.

My gaze flitted across the room and I began to count in my head.

Gabriel and Luke, one and two, Mr. Blackbourne, three, North, four, Victor, five, Dr. Green, six and myself, seven...

That left only Silas and Nathan who she hadn't bitten yet.

My gaze met Silas and he smiled a little enviously at me. North must've told him about what happened after Sang's bit.

"Now that we are all here I think we should start our meeting." Mr. Blackbourne's voice commanded our attention and we all found places to sit or lean against in Dr. Green's small office.

Mr. Blackbourne and Sang exchanged glances for a moment and I suspected that they were communicating through their minds instead of silently like my brothers and I often did.

Sang nodded and Mr. Blackbourne began the meeting, "I think we should start discussing today's attack and the Senate." He said. "It appears that in the paranormal... community, the species are independent and have their own governing bodies, laws and so forth. The Senate is the governing body of the vampire community and they also have a monarch."

"A monarchy? Really?" Nate asked with an eyebrow raised.

We all ignored him, "So, the vampire who attacked us today is a member of this Senate and he was seeking information on Sang." I said more than asked, wanting confirmation from my brothers and Sang.

She nodded at me while North frowned.

"And what the fuck do they want with Sang baby?" he asked.

"Should we worry that they will come after her?" Luke questioned, sounding worried.

Gabriel snorted, "Technically they already did, or did you all forget about that vampire that set fire to Mr. B's woods?"

I hadn't forgotten, but we hadn't had the chance to have a proper family meeting yet to discuss that episode.

And Mr. Blackbourne had ordered me not to worry about it.

I had almost snorted when he'd said that.

"That attack was indeed ordered by the Senate. They are trying to figure out who I am. My guess is that Marie paid a visit to them and said there was a rogue vampire on town causing trouble." Sang said and I could feel how frustrated she was at this.

"So, what happens now? Do we try to talk with this Senate and explain the situation?" Nathan asked but Sang was already shaking her head at him.

"That would not be advisable. The Senate is, sadly, composed of the strongest vampires in existence." Sang said.

"What about their ruler?" I asked.

Sang and Mr. Blackbourne exchanged glances again before he answered me, "We aren't sure who is the ruler at the moment Mr. Lee. Miss Sorenson spent a long time sleeping and is unaware of how things stand in her community."

I nodded and tried to find a solution to the problem at hand, but nothing seemed to occur to me.

"You boys shouldn't worry about this, I will solve this problem as soon as I deal with Marie." Sang said while locked in what appeared to be a staring contest with Mr. Blackbourne.

It was clear to me that neither was going to back down so I interrupted, "We can't, in good conscience, leave you to deal with these people alone, Sang." I told her.

"Yeah, Cupcake! We have superpowers now! Let us help!" Luke crowed.

"If you are thinking that I will let you go off alone again, Trouble, you better think again." Gabriel snapped.

"Hell no." Was North's simple reply with a tone of finality.

Sang sighed resignedly and Mr. Blackbourne got a pleased glint in his eye.

Victor got up from the armchair where he'd been sitting and kneeled before Sang, taking one of her hands in his "Please, let us help you Princess." He asked her sweetly and I both watched and felt as she melted at his request.

A smile made its way to my face watching them.

While it was true that I was more than a little attracted to Sang and truly liked her, I didn't feel jealous watching her with my brothers because I could actually feel her emotions and knew that she probably loved us all.

It suddenly sank in that she had feeling for me too and I felt a blush rising in my cheeks.

Was it okay for me to love her too?

~Owen'sPOV~

~Later that night~

I was lying on my side in my bed with Miss Sorenson in cat form curled up to my chest.

Today had been full of revelations to my team as we'd finally told them about the Senate and two more members had received Sang's bite.

Now we only lacked Mr. Korba and Mr. Griffin in our bond. Once they joined and gained their powers I hoped that we would all be useful to Miss Sorenson in her battle against the Senate.

Stop thinking and go to sleep, Mr. Blackbourne. Sang's sweet voice whispered in my mind.

I glanced down at the kitten and saw green eyes staring up at me with affection and a little bit of exasperation.

The sweet Miss Sorenson didn't know how to deal with a bunch of males getting into her business and trying to help her, but she'd learn with time because we weren't going anywhere.

"Shift." I whispered to her.

Her cat eyes widened in surprise and doubt.

Are you sure? She asked me.

"It is time we dealt with our fears, don't you think so, Miss Cuddles?" I asked her softly, meaning her fear of beds and my discomfort with physical contact.

She hesitated for a moment more before answering with a hint of shyness, I need clothes.

I sat up and removed my pajamas top, a grey button up shirt of soft cotton.

I laid it next to Sang and closed my eyes, waiting politely.

The air thickened with that characteristic scent of orange blossoms and I heard the sounds of rustling as the mattress dipped with her movements.

"I am ready." She whispered, her voice faint and shy.

I turned to her, noticing how big my pajamas looked on her small form and smiled.

Little body, huge heart.

Lying on my side I opened my arms for her.

She laid with her back turned to me and I spooned her, feeling only comfort and satisfaction at having her small and slightly cold form molded to my body.

She let out a contented sigh and relaxed against me, her emotions reflecting her calm and happiness.

And that is how we slept for the rest of the night.

AN: Sorry for posting this a little late, I was having some trouble separating myself from this amazing story I am currently reading and took too long to begin writing this chapter ;)
